    Hey there, im looking to get a linnmon desk and mounting my 2 monitors on to the desk as well, for the top ill probably be able to cut out a piece of metal around 5mm (would this be too thin?) and instead of using wood to hold the clamps underneath the table, would the same metal plates be enough?

    • @KNTech
      @KNTech  3 года назад +3

      Hey Ryan, that should be fine, I would try and go a little thinner for the top if you can, I used an old pc case, so was like 1mm, the idea behind it it increase the surface area that the weight from the monitor mount is contacting the desk, just stops it piercing through the very thin veneer on the top of the desk

      @@KNTech Thanks for getting back to me, i definitely would try your suggestion and try find a thinner piece of metal to increase the surface area on top of the desk, but would use the thicker one for the bottom where you tighten the clamps. thank you for your input!

      @@prevaloir5362 Hi There, these (and most) monitor arms come with fitting that allow you to drill through the desk to mount them. the issue here is that these kind of desks are not made from solid wood, only a thin veneer on top of compressed cardboard, and the thin tops give way under the weight f the monitor mounts small contact point on the top of the desk, drilling and mounting them that way would not make a difference to that problem.

    • @lekhakaananta5864
      @lekhakaananta5864 2 года назад +3

      5mm sounds very thick actually. What kind of metal are you using? As long as it's not something malleable it should be fine I think. If it bends at all it will not distribute the pressure much because the metal will bend around the pressure area.
      Also keep in mind that specifically for this Ikea product, the rigid particle board of the desktop is where you want to clamp on, so people might have varying results depending on where they put their clamp.

      As for the sagging issue, it is possible that this monitor could cause sagging/damage to the Iinmon desk top, it weighs 17 lb which it about 7.5 Kg, so it is possible, it will also depend on how far forward you have the arm placement, the further forward (towards the front of the desk) the more the angle will increase the pressure on the desk. I prefer to use thin metal on top as it isnt as obvious under the desk pad i have, but either works, just need to spread the small contact patch of the desk mount

    what abt mounting the fifine mic

    • @KNTech
      @KNTech  3 года назад +1

      Mounting a mic shouldn't be a problem, its not gonna weigh anywhere near two, or even one monitor. I would think you should be ok, but if you are worried you could use a small piece of an old PC case under the top to be sure.

    Hello,
    is the desk still okay? I was considering buying a monitor mount but I don't want to break my desk so I was wondering if a year later it's still fine?

    Hello !
    Nice video ! I'm a bout to buy it , i really need you 2 years later feedback on that !
    Is it still working ?

      Dont buy a linnmon if you wish to have a moniter arm or clamp on the desk . The material for the linnmon desk is literal cardboard in a honeycomb pattern . Get a solid wood worktop

    • @KNTech
      @KNTech  Год назад +1

      I Agree with the other comment here, a solid wooden desktop would be better, that said, 2 years on and my solution is still holding up just fine. Good luck whichever way you end up going

      Hi There, yep, still going strong, I checked it couple of weeks ago and there are no marks at all on the surface of the desk.

    Ikea calls this "Board on frame". A stabile frame with paper. You shoud ask the ikea Co workers which tabletop can handle screws and pressure

      Hey Kannja, yeah I could, or I could just make this modification, I guess it all depends what you are looking for in a desk.

      That will be the best solution, but not everyone will be able to go that route. Thanks for the comment

    do you need to add reinforcement on both ends? would it work well enough to just add the wood in the bottom?

      No, if anything the top one is the more important one
