I have a desk with a similar thickness. It has a couple of holes for monitors or cabling to pass through on the top. I would like to get a sheet of metal 3/8” thick to reinforce a grommet mount. I’m surprised that there aren’t more people talking about reinforcing desks like this.

I just bought a plate from vivo for $20. It arrived in less than 24 hours and so I did less work. Just thought I'd comment this in case someone wants a quicker solution with little time on their hands
Update: it works great. I had to adjust it 1 time because there was a small crack from before. But now that I moved it away from the crack. It's perfect and nothing is slanted any more. I too should've used common sense when I first setup my stand. Mine is a hex stand too by the way 😆 only 5 monitors added though. Will add a 6th one eventually

Nice one bro. I was looking for something different on RUclips and found your vid randomly. Last year I ended up doing something similar using 1/4" steel plates that are around the same size as the wood after you cut it down. One plate on top and one underneath, the same as you. It's been going strong for a little over a year now so if those problems come back go ahead and give the steel plates a try. I think I got them for about $12 a piece from Home Depot.

Supports like this are available to buy in metal, but I like the cost effective method of wood instead! I would say that two thinner but possibly wider pieces would be useful to have below and above desk. As you don't need too much more material, just a way to distribute the weight away from a single point
