I do my deviled eggs first. That way if any eggs tear, I use them in my potato salad. Paprika is also pretty on top.

Truly, a classic Southern woman! I lost my Mom as a young woman and never felt confident in the kitchen. This gracious woman makes it all seem so easy. Thank you for posting simple versions of southern comfort food. Now to look for that pound cake video!

A deviled egg trick I learned if you get too much mayo in your filling: sprinkle in some instant potato flakes. The potato flake will absorb the extra moisture and you can't taste it at all. Actually, I now intentionally use the potato flakes because the filling ends up so light and fluffy. I also like a little grated onion (very little!) and salad shrimp in my deviled eggs. Mom always sprinkles paprika on her eggs too.

You are so right about the Pound Cake. When I was growing up my Grandmother always made us a Pound Cake on Friday to have for the weekend. And she always made me one on Sunday afternoon to take back to college for the next week. I was never sure if I had so many friends on my dorm floor because of my personality, or because I always had pound cake.

Since I don't want anything to do with the devil, I always call my eggs Angel Eggs 😊

I have my grandmother's chopper like yours. She bought it in 1938 as a church fundraiser. It is perfect for chopping hard boiled eggs. I had a good laugh watching you chop eggs for your potato salad.

Only difference with mine is I put a little bit of apple cider vinegar, and no relish. And I swear my grandma had that same dish! Gotta love southern food!

Again, so funny, but Mama used to say the same thing about peeling a potato! Her mother always said that a sharp knife like the one you are using takes less potato off than a potato peeler! And I agree! My grandparents were depression era folks who taught me to conserve as much as possible and it stuck! We can be modern, as you are, but not forget what we were taught! Thanks Diane.

I make potato salad exactly the same way. It's sooo good! However, we do like relish in our deviled eggs. Thank you for sharing.

I sprinkle my potato salad with paprika.

Ma'am, I am the daughter if a farm girl from Kansas that goes back about 3 generations if not more. Mamma, taught me to boil the potatoes in their jacket with the eggs to save time and energy. Then to continue as you do, but according to our taste.

I want to sit at your table. Every meal you make hits my heart and tummy.

  • @NolaDeb

In your NEW cookbook please include a picture or two of your younger self! Would love to see pictures of when Diane Leary was learning how to cook. ❤️

I have tried store bought potato salad no where as yummy as homemade. I will be making your recipe real soon. Thank you for sharing!

  • @beverlyhuhn2374

I’m so glad you introduced me to your egg chopper! What a simple little tool - but so useful and handy! I ordered one from Amazon.

  • @pattywise2842

I’ll be sure to try your recipe. My tip for perfect hard boiled eggs is, --buy a hard boiled egg cooker $20. Mine cooks 7 eggs perfectly in about 8 minutes. The shells fall right off. You will love it 😊

  • @katherynkennedy5881

I love the biscuit cutter for chopping eggs, lol. She makes everything look so easy. This is how my Mom made her tater salad as we called it, except she used about 3 times the mustard..

  • @OnariaYoungblood

Me Me you are my favorite of all the other cooks, one cook is so proud of herself that sometimes I believe she will fly off to a better place.
