- Laura has been homeless since the age of 23. I first interviewed her in 2018. She was 46 then; I even titled that interview almost the same. You can watch it here:

I noticed Laura a few blocks away. She looked different than when I had seen her before. Homelessness does that to a person. As I got closer, I kept thinking about how I hoped she is still smiling, and sure enough - Laura was smiling and still filled with positive energy.
I always love reconnecting with homeless people I've met over the years, but I am sad that they are still sleeping outside. I honestly don't know how Laura does it. She's an amazing woman, and I hope all her wishes will come true someday soon.

There is a direct correlation between what the general public perceives about homelessness and how it affects policy change. Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, childhood trauma, lack of a living wage, or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. This lack of understanding creates a dangerous cycle of misperception that leads to the inability to effectively address the root causes of homelessness.
We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
This isn’t just talk. Our groundbreaking educational content reaches millions of people every month. Our real and unfiltered stories of homelessness shatter stereotypes, demand attention and deliver a call-to-action that is being answered by governments, major brands, nonprofit organizations, and everyday citizens just like you.
However, there is more work to be done on the road ahead. Homelessness is undoubtedly one of our biggest societal issues today and will only continue to grow if we don’t take action now.

She doesn't stay in one place so obviously you can't get housing when you keep changing locations, I've seen her in Asheville, she usually doesn't speak to too many people so I don't know how he coerced this interview out of her

She is like sunshine. I hope she has a lot of good fortune in the future. It is strange she mentions lack of motivation and fear of failure and the childhood psychology of their roots. It points out the levels of these things and how our early experiences and our psychology is so universally critical and applicable, whatever station in life we find ourselves in.
She's more intelligent than most politicians.
I remember Laura from the first video. I was wondering what happened to her. I'm glad to see that she's OK. I'm in the same boat but now someone has given me the chance to make a school Bus into a home. Being down here in Florida homeless is not fun. I hope everything works out for her. 🙏 ❤
Being homeless is a tough life. I hate everyone who made it worse by either taking advantage of me or stealing from me. God bless Laura (that’s my mom’s name too) for keeping a good attitude about it.

That hit home hard when you said your dad told you you're no good or nothing good will ever become of you... I grew up with a dad like that too and I might be a bit messed up even till today and not thriving fully but how grateful I am for my meals and a roof over my head. I truly wish that for her too, and safety and stability and love and healing, so her smile can be even more bright and her eyes (soul) more happy. One day you'll be ready and it will come as a surprise, you'll find a switch in your mind that will be your first solid step into a new direction and you'll find the strength and the faith in yourself to continue. Even shortly after that you'll look back and wonder how you've never taken a step this way so firmly before and not backing down this time, and you'll feel so proud and relieved that you are capable of that change, and any step after that will only become lighter and lighter. Sometimes warriors have invisible battles, but I know that you, if not today then someday, when you're ready, can do it 💪👑

She seems a real sweetheart. I like her. I totally understand why she doubts herself. My biological father was a worthless drunk so much so that my grandparents raised me and to them I owe everything. The only thing I remember about my alcoholic biological father is that I never once saw him sober and that he said my grandparents didn't want me. He said my grandparents only took care of me for state assistance money they never filed for. Finally he told me I was autistic, disabled and I'd never amount to anything. I proved my drunk father wrong on every count. But both Mark and she are right that internalized self doubt never leaves you. Love you Mark!

She truly is awesome! I remember her living in Asheville and Gainesville. Yes Florida is hot as the devil's oven in the Summer!! I work just to make bare subsistence because I value freedom and am an information addict too. Plus I am very introverted. I just substitute teach at high schools which I recommend.

She's beautiful 💖 I had a friend staying in my driveway (in her van) for a couple weeks and she knew of the places you mentioned from staying there year's ago. I live in a mobile home park so she couldn't stay much longer so went to check out the prison and tent area and she just drove thru and said...... No way! She 72 and has lived in many places in her van and she would agree with this interview.

I think these videos should ask if there is a gmail or contact information to where these people can be helped. To me it’s sad that our government will send billions to get blown up in Ukraine but yet we have millions of good people who fell on hard times without.
Perhaps due to my own fears and worries, I haven't watched IP vids in awhile, but this one called to me. From one Laura to another, change IS hard, but your attitude, intelligence, and optimism are inspiring.💕🍀☮️

I live in Jacksonville, FL and the rents are still insane. My rent jumped $230 in 2021, and still hasn't come down. Unbelievable. We need more affordable housing.

@@a.johnson4291 I'm moving to Hawaii I don't know anyone I was laid off from jobs because of people on the streets and I found out during that time that I was adopted. Most people have great adopted stories this didn't happen for me. I went through abuse by my family mentally and physically

I hope everyone who reads this makes time in their life to take action to help the unhoused population. I buy clearance items out of season. Clearance price then 90% off the clearance price, so basically almost free. I've done this with coats, boots, hats, gloves, even gotten socks and underwear for these penny on the dollar prices. I'm disabled. I feel so blessed that my home is paid off. I just have to keep up with the taxes. I can't walk past new winter boots for for $2 and waterproof warm gloves for 35 cents and not think about how cold it gets here in Michigan. We have too many people who sleep in the shelter but are kicked out for the daylight hours. It doesn't make any sense to me. I can't open my home but I always open my heart
She has a lovely spirit. The homelessness she's talking about due to the "recession", is not even being covered on the news or anywhere but mainly this channel . This is how I stay well informed.
