Super comfy, tones of room, power and I can tow and off road which are activities that I do regularly. Plus the last 3 I've owned have been durable!

People who buy them using them for commuting but then tow/haul boats, campers, snowmobiles, camping/hunting gear with them on weekend. It's how North Americans recreate that makes them so popular.
Sure, trucks do more work than any other vehicle; but they do commuting worse than any other type of car, with the worst mileage. For the 70 grand that new trucks cost you could get a used truck and a wonderful daily driver. But truck guys are too proud to be seen in anything else

I know this is an old video, but the reason car makers have convinced us we need SUV’s and trucks is perceived value. Consumers ‘know’ most Chevy cars aren’t worth 50k, but nobody thinks twice about a 60-70k Chevy truck. And a 60k truck only cost about 1k more than an Impala to build.
I know it's an old comment, but I don't think that's true. SUVs had a huge boom in Europe as well, and we don't really have trucks that are used as personal vehicles here. Honestly, I think it might be that the crash standards forced higher doors and bonnets, which doesn't work well with the "sportscar" look - but does work well with an SUV/offroad design.
There was a question if the 720S's windscreen costs $14k. It does not, but it's still a hefty $5k. Common issue for both the 720 and the 570. The 570 windscreen pops more often than the 720 and is about $1700. They're both almost always on backorder!

E.g. a fast civic that has bragging rights in a straight line means nothing to a Mclaren owner who spends their time on a circuit exploring the bounds of physics to achieve optimal lap times. It's not just the lithium though is it, it's the 4x as much copper, the large amount of cobalt and god forbid all the REE present all of which add up to a horrendous human and environmental damage. For electric cars to succeed we need to seriously cut down on the amount of niche elements used.
