update: Apparently there is no FWD stelvio. SO the stelvio I drove was such a piece of shit that it would do Front-drive burnouts even though it, apparently, had AWD. Must have been a great system.

But Mr. Collins is actually a natural infront of the camera. He's done some good stuff over the years.

I love podcasts with Cammisa! These are the best. He’s got such a way to describe cars that very few other journalists can replicate.
Because of true passion, you can feel Jason’s burning passion for cars through the way he presents shows (especially the laid back ones where he sits down and talks for half an hour to hours about cars)

I really like Jason, I discovered him on Motortrend and followed him since. I think he is one of the top journalist, and he knows how to be both very interesting and hilarious.

Jason’s point on average car age is spot on wrt electrification infrastructure. Electric is 2% of the market today, probably only 10% of all cars on the road will be electric in 2030.
Never mind the fact that PHEVs will be sold new well beyond 2030.
I imagine gasoline will be readily available until 2040/2050 and then still available for collector cars in perpetuity (Carbon output from Vintage cars is negligible.

I'm a massive introvert and single during the pandemic so its actually kind of a win win for me.... I actually feel bad for all my friends who are trapped with their significant others but not yet married too, that is a lot of quality time with one another and my god do they drive each other insane.

Can you do an episode with some experts talking about efuels/synth fuels? Carbon capture to produce carbon neutral renewable drop in fuels can be done in a year and it could just be another button at the pump. EVs and Synth fueled ICEs can co-exist. We need competition and choice

I can't believe how late I am to this. I love Jason and Matt, these two legends are living the dream.
It saddens me to hear about the current Escape. I have the previous gen (2014) with the 1.6L EcoBoost and it rocks. Boost comes on at like 1800 rpm, and it shifts pretty late when you’re on it (3500-4000 rpm). It runs out of breath at the top end, but that doesn’t really matter for day-to-day

Cammisa talking about using his car as a backup battery for a hottub reminded me of what a bunch of people in my area are doing (Northern Cali). A lot of the off-grid people and growers around here are buying used Priuses to use as a generator. Both to run their indoor grows and to power their homes. Pretty clever imo.
Seeing these guys talk the way I would talk to my friends is so cool
I love Jason's take on cars. I would love a comparison of economy rental cars to see which one is the most fun to drive. Maybe playing around with shocks and tires but otherwise, stock.

1:08:25 Yeah we gotta dig up the cities for more power probably; we also need to dig up the cities to replace aging water and sewage infrastructure anyway. Huge swaths of America are due for an infrastructure refresh, power or not; and a lot of the power can be done while we do everything else.
I have a 2018 Alfa stelvio ti.sport that's awesome. It's awd and is the most reliable and sporty cuv out today. It's not fwd..it's either awd and possibly rwd if you don't order awd although being in the northeast I think we pretty.much just order awd. It's my better halfs ride for the past 30 months. This thing rocks.

I love the dynamic between you two and every single thing you talked about was extremely interesting. You're hands down my two favourite car journalists in my top 3 (with Harris of course).
By the way Jason, countries and companies have a strong historical tendency to push back deadlines they impose onto themselves. For various things, whether it be the environment or global hunger or what, we've had "horizon years" like 2000, 2020, 2030, 2050, etc, and it's almost always never amounted to anything but the setting of a new deadline. So don't take Europe's and China's words too literally. Most of the international treaties and deadlines put in place have no actual power and aren't legally binding. You're right that we're moving toward a new era, but that's not gonna come about with tight deadlines.

Leno talked about how he spun the Carrera GT years ago after being invited by Porsche to do top speed runs. 190 mph, at one of the straights on a big oval, think it was in Florida? Only damage to the car was flatspots on the tires and Leno probably needed new underwear! xD Thats just insane! Who's brilliant idea was it to put him in that car at those speeds in the first place... xD
Doing it in a modern GT2RS or GT3 model is probbaly a sunday drive in comparison! xD
Talking about enthusiast cars and mentioning the Camaro, last night I was fucking around on the chevy site and noticed that there is actually a V8 trim one step below SS called the LT1, I'm not 100% certain what's going on there, but it seemed like a great performance bargain if you wanted it. From my admittedly surface level looking, it seemed like it was basically like the V6/I4 trim but with a V8 crammed in there. Intriguing tbh.

I felt that talking about car shipping. It was a nightmare. I would rather drive the 3k miles myself.
The argument about legislation driving fuel economy standards is true. It is also the reason new car prices have become unaffordable for most people.
What happened to the push for ethanol and other biofuels decades ago? I'd rather do that or at least have that as a transition step. I really really thought hybrids with a flex fuel engine would a logical next step while the infrastructure gets built.
