Audio!!!! EMC guys. Get some ferrite beads (aka Clip-on Noise Filter) and clamp them around the wires (USB, microphone, and HDMI (very noisy!))this will cancel / attenuate the common mode currents coupled from the nearby wires and/or other radiators like cell phones. Also keep in mind cable bundling might also cause issues. Hope this helps(:
Favourite E30 has to be the ALPINA B6 3.5s. E30 M3 body shell but with a tuned M30 3.5 I6 from the e34 535i. Also one of the only times ALPINA touched an M car rather than starting with the series car like they usually do.
I think Jason is up there with peak top gear. Top gear's segments were good TV but their best stuff was their specials and their challenges. When it comes to really good segments on cars Jason on the Icons is right up there.
I did a track day at Palmer once in a stripped out Miata, absolute blast. The huge elevation change and tight turns, coupled with a relatively short distance and beautiful scenery, make it a blast. Can't recommend to anyone enough within a few hours drive.
@@arminabdi they also dont have the creative freedom that clarkson, hammond and may had... and having a host as brilliant as chris harris is... thats a huge shame!
39:10 I wonder if the complaints about the manual have something to do with electronic throttle bodies. I remember savagegeese complaining about the current WRX having a ton of rev hang resulting in the need to shift it rather lazily.
Thank you for saying what everyone secretly thinks, but doesn't say. E30 M3 fans love the 4cyl, but if an I-6 was an option for it back then, there would be no question. Isn't this why it didn't sell that well in the US when released?
Your recapping of the Land Cruiser experience reminds me of some of the things you said about the new Defender. You can spend very little (relatively) on a Wrangler Rubicon and it will be amazing off road. But on road it's pretty poor. The Defender was perfect everywhere it went. Though great, it sounds like the LC left you wanting more both on and off road (though the LC is just as expensive as the Defender). To go from a wrangler to a defender, the trade-off is money. To get LC longevity and reliability, maybe the tradeoff is all the brand new toys and engineering that made the Defender so good?
Matt, you’re saying no 2 door the size of the M4 (188” x 73”) makes sense, but the LC500, that you have had nothing but praise for, is 187” x 76”. What’s up with that?
@@mcspikesky the LC is a more upscale car than the M3, but they are both sport coupes. Matt was talking about 2 door in general and said no 2 door ever makes sense at that size, but every time the LC comes up Matt has nothing but positive things to say and encourages people to buy that car. The LC and M4 are essentially the same size, so obviously there is more than just the size that makes the M4 undesirable.
M4, a big coupe, might do well on a track but not so well on the streets. LC500, a big coupe, might do well on the street but not so well on the track. Size and amount of doors alone are not the only factors at play here
Big fan of Cammisa and his work; it's really been great at Haggerty. I'm bummed I didn't realize the M3 was doing a rolling burnout that entire opening sequence ! Lol looks like he was right and director was wrong
there's gotta be an excellent joke in being sponsored by JB Weld, Weed, and a ticket-fighting service all at once, but I'm far too dumb to make it, lmao
The 190 is Euro spec, but the E30 is US spec, which is worse that the Euro version just like the Mercedes. Jason needs to go to Germany and do the comparison on the Nurburgring.
Read any UK, European, Australian or Japanese car magazine in the 80's and guess which car they would do a comparison test of the M3 that was also from Germany, had a 2.3l 4 cylinder, it had the same gearbox, rwd, was that companies small entry level sedan aimed at DTM which the and was used in subsequent reviews over 35 years as the Non US spec version was what they got.
Just to give context to this discussion. This was my local race series in New Zealand in the mid 80s. A broad variety of cars and each year a change. We raced a 930 and a 944T in the Porsche support race. The Schnitzer BMW was being run before the factory M3 ever came on the scene. ruclips.net/video/bA6VqI1-MVg/видео.html

Listening to this while driving a M20 powered E30. Love the show guys.

Now imagine... alpina e30 m3 with an 24v M88 engine (e28 M5)...
And 2 batteries and 3 spare wheels in the trunk for weight balance of course hahaha
Wow! Someone else that doesn't think the E30 M3 is GOAT.
I agree, the E36 M3 with Euro spec engine is where it's at.
The E28 m5 is the real deal...
Just dont tell anyone!
E46 M3 is where it’s at.

New Top Gear:
Matt Farah
Jason Cammisa
Chris Harris
Randy Pobst as the Stig
Annnnnnnd... Scripted by themselves!
That would be great. The problem with all the new Top Gears is that most of the hosts haven’t known each other for that long so there is no chemistry.

Nah, would just be 3 dudes who always agrees with each other.

the v10 manual is actually exactly the same as the e90 v8 m3 transmission. You can change final drive if you want shorter gearing.
Renault has a worse Manual than BMW
I can agree with the gearing gap on the manual v10 cars. Currently saving up for a new diff with 4.10 final drive...
I wonder what Cammisa thinks of the 90-91 318is? (aka the poor mans M3) Torquier 4 cylinder that weighs less than an E30 m3
Cammisa has my favorite car collection on RUclips

Volskwagen has a manual an 0 rev hang
Kia's in the other hand have rev hang
Maybe Jason can use his super chat money to buy a decent mic.

The Icons M3 intro is great, but with the interior/exterior cuts, the fact that it's one continuous take is completely lost.
Just an FYI - Your recent intro recordings have had some static feedback. Haven't noticed it elsewhere, though. Great show!

Can you tell us when these production street cars were driven back to back in period, where, and what the results were?

Making shitty manuals is how BMW depresses manual take rates and builds the excuse to not offer them anymore.
didn't Jason race there before the track was paved?
