Fantastic video Kevin! Two quick tips: - if you ever notice that an NDI source is “resizing” randomly, right-click on it and hit Transform>Edit Transform. For Binding Box, select “Scale to Inner Bounds” and resize your video to fit properly again. That will lock it to that size. - The audio from NDI sources coming from Teams will all be the same combine audio from the entire meeting. Unfortunately you will get audio doubling unless you mute all NDI sources except one. Hope that helps folks that run into those two quirks! NDI in Teams is a very exciting feature and the key that unlocks a TON of creativity for educators and live event producers. Great stuff!
Excellent video, Kevin. Just a couple more tips when using OBS: (1) You can set shortcut keys for each scene so that you don't have to use the OBS interface to switch between them when actually presenting. (2) Video filters can be used to chroma-key out a green screen, for example - present from the Bahamas! (3) There are many scene transitions to choose from, 'cut' is the default but 'fade' is less jarring. (4) Studio Mode allows you to prep a scene ahead of time, then switch to it whenever you're ready. Hope this helps.
Kevin you may already have this but I would love to see how you put one of your standard videos together how you have a couple different screenshots and also camera angles that you incorporate
thanks man...to share multiple speaker and content in teams live event also use the video approach and start virtual camera in OBS > switch camera in live event :)
Kevin, really appreciate your channel as I'm figuring a way to stream my virtual event to 6000 attendees. This video gave me more insights on how I can use Teams coupled with OBS.
Hi Kevin, this is a great recording tutorial, but I can't find a tutorial on how to use OBS as a camera input for live MS Teams meeting sessions or (perhaps more importantly) to use OBS as a mic input. Can you shed any light?
Thank you so much Kevin, you are indeed an amazing guy. Your content is always helpful especially this OBS tutorial and comparison with other services, it made my life so much easier. I keep telling everyone around me about your awesome channel…
Hi Kevin! Awesome vid as always. Hope you can create a video regarding MS Forms, particularly, on how one can send a copy of the Form that they answered even if they are outside of the organization. I read something that it can be done with Forms together with Flow? 🤔🤔🤔
Hey Frayue - can you tell me more? Are you looking at how to send out a survey to participants outside the organization or how to share results with people outside? Thanks!
Hi Kevin, enjoy your videos, they helped a lot. Two more video suggestions. 1) how to custom arrange your My Documents folder in windows 10. All the given options I don't like. It is so much easier organized when I can put the icons where I want to put them. 2) how to secure your pc from internet threads in windows 10 without buying or downloading software. Is windows firewall enough? Microsoft edge didn't seem to like Avast. Thanks Thomas
Hi there Kevin! You're videos are super helpful. Thank you for sharing these videos for us. I was facing a problem playing recorded meeting videos on my Teams app in my phone. I can hear the audio but not the video. The error appears as 'Recording error, can't play video'... But I watched the videos till yesterday night as well, there wasn't any such problems. Could you please help me with this?
Kevin. (5'08 "I found the screen) corn : 1- only multimedia is ON Location, notifications, MIDI device external links are off and i is not accessing. and Networks Device Interface (NDI) does not appear. I returned to the administrator interface and yet this option is ON For info I have Microsoft 365 business standard
Hi Kevin. Could you make a video about how to use Windows 10 more efficiently and what apps contribute to doing that? It will be incredible. Thank you, Kevin. You are amazing.
Love these videos!!!! Questions. I have NDI enabled by policy for my user account and ndi enabled on my client. But when I chose NDI source, the choose Souce from the dropdown, it is empty When teams is running. Suggestions? Has anything changed in 2021? Thanks!
Thank you for good content that fit my situation. But still some questions to ask for more clear. If we'd like to do the Live on MS Team with 3 guest speakers to be presented on the same screen, then i used OBS & NDI. In order to bring their screen, they must have the NDI as well ? So that i can see their monitor or screen to bring in to join, right? When all scene done, at the start Streaming, how can we stream back on MS LIVE again? I can't find the solution on this.
Kevin, you'll have to stop this. My 'Collections' section devoted to essential resources is becoming packed - largely because of your videos! Thank you for accelerating my learning and for reading my mind on what to post next.
Ha, I'll do my best to keep packing your collections section 😁 So I don't have to read your mind, let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see me cover!
Thanks your fantastic video demonstration. I hope you could resolve my problem encountered in OBS NDI. I had installed (i) OBS, (ii) obs-ndi NewTek (windows installer version) and (iii) NDI virtual input (received email for installation) into my Lenovo notebook x1 Gen 6. However, I selected the NDI Output Settings to OBS, the system tray for OBS virtual camera was not able to show OBS output, it showed remote computer only. Therefore, there was no audio input (i.e. Microphone) sound output from OBS to Zoom meeting. Many thanks.
Can you use OBS recording a Teams meeting to stream to a Teams Live Event? Live Events do not allow multiple video streams but in today's "new normal" we would like to use Live Events to host webinars with panel discussions and interviews where there are multiple speakers at the same time.
Was going to ask basically the same question. We use OBS to stream to MS Stream but I’m curious if you could 1. Output from a Teams meeting to OBS then 2. Stream from OBS to a Live Event? Does Teams have NDI inputs as well as outputs?
Kevin, You just saved My A**! Thank you so much. I was having issues figuring out hot to get rid off the watermark and the cropping idea of you, helped.
Hi. Thx for your fantastic tutorial. Q: At about 11:03 you explain how to add a source to an NDI ´scene. You have 5 sources already in your list. I have none. So, where do they come from? Thx.
I liked your video but I still have some questions. I didn’t see you cast any of your practice students’ video frames into the recorded scenes. I wish you had included that step and shown how that might look. Another question I had was about using Skype for custom recorded online classes rather than Teams. Can you capture a student’s video using OBS if the student is calling in using Skype? Another question I had is about the minimum number of monitors you have to have to do this kind of custom recording. You’ve got your scenes set up on OBS, but when you’re giving the actual lesson, it seems like you have to not only navigate through the PPT slides of your lessons and switch scenes back and forth when you want in order to get the recording you want. Is that the case? If so, wouldn’t you need a minimum of two monitors to get the kind of custom recording you’re describing-one to display OBS and one to display the PowerPoint slides and students’ video? And also wouldn’t that mean you’re literally managing two things in your head-1) switching back and forth between scenes to get the recording you’re hoping for and 2) teaching the high quality lesson you’re aiming to teach? That just seems like it would pretty hard. With practice I’m sure one could get the hang of it, but I just wanted to see if that’s what you’re saying here.
great clip.. thanks for publishing.... quick question, is there a way to activate NDI streaming within the freeware version of teams in combination with a M365 family subscription. Unfortunately could not find a way to access the admin center as I do not have my own tenant.
Hi Kevin, thanks for providing us with losts of useful computer hacks! I have a question, how do you get the blue circle around your mouse cursor? I teach via Teams so this would be helpful for me to have.
Hi Kevin, I am your big fan, especially Microsoft technologies, I wonder if I could use the NDI to switch between the two cameras (OBS > Teams), I did not manage it so far
Great Video, thank you. But if you modify the policy you modify it for everyone not for the individual user right? So we have to consider to create a separate policy for those ndi users. Is this right?
I can't see my Teams meetings in Source name from OBS Studio. I have already done all the steps about NDI plugin and allow it on Teams Settings. What's the problem?
I'm having the same problem. I've done this on two separate computers and it doesn't work on either. I can select NDI Source, but then there are no sources to select. I suspect a problem with the NDI runtime, but haven't a clue what went wrong (on two machines!).
Hi Kevin. Thanks for this but can you please let me know whether it serves any purpose to activate NDI if you are hosting a teams meeting on a local computer (also the streaming comp) with people connecting to the meeting via internet and not on a LAN? Excuse my ignorance :-)
Hi Kevin, Great video! but I've tried using OBS and installed all the required addins but the only ones showing every time I run a test meeting is the shared screen not the teams cameras of the participants in the source name drop down. Please help...Thank you very much...
Kevin, you make really great informative videos! I have a question; how can I change the default Word page color so that when I open a new document the page color I want is there automatically. I have Office set to the dark theme, however, the page is a bright white--I want it to be a light grey so that it won't hart my eyes. Would you please do a video on how to do this? Thanks so much!
Thanks ! Kevin. Is there any video of how to download only a particular app of Microsoft Office ? Not just download the whole apps together, but for example I want to download only Word. So, is it possible ?
After adding the NDI source in OBS, when the properties windows opens I don’t have any drop down options under “source” like yours does. Any idea why this would be? Thx in advance.
Very nice video Kevin. I have an issue. I have the NDI Source menu in OBS but after I hit the + button and add it, the fist drop-down menu called "Source Name" is empty. Can you hepl please. I Use OBS 29.0.2 - 64bit for windows.
Kevin, i really found this video helpful. can you please tell me if there is a way to automatically upload this recorded meeting to stream like it happens by default in Microsoft Stream. I know how to upload it to stream after the recording is saved, but i want to know if that can happen automatically. It can be like streaming to microsoft stream while the recording is being done. The video was really helpful but if i have to upload to microsoft stream after the recording is done, then it will become a more time consuming task and would consume more internet data. Please help🙏🙏🙏🙏
I was going to suggest the same with OneDrive, David! I believe you can also stream via OBS to Microsoft Stream directly. This will serve as a way to broadcast to your organization while also allowing Stream to save a copy. This effectively works like how a meeting recording works in Teams. I haven't dug in deep, but it looks possible: ttps://lucavitali.wordpress.com/2018/08/24/how-to-use-obs-studio-external-encoder-for-live-events/
Very good informative, Is possible to use GoPro to stream on Teams meeting or Live stream ? If possible please share to me . Or create a video for the same
You heard my thoughts, Kevin. I was just looking to get answers on this topic. So, thank you! Would this work if we use Live Event on Teams instead of Teams Meeting? I am thinking on a situation where we have over 300 attendees.
This should work for Live Events as well. You'll get a similar set of streams that you can use in OBS to compose a scene. Also, it should be possible to use OBS to stream your scene to Microsoft Stream to host your event. Hope that helps!
Maybe I missed something, once you set all the scenes up on OBS and record the way you want. When you start you meeting to present, you just have the video you just recorded open and then share that window, press play and boom...?
Hi Kevin, can you please make a tutorial on Team Site Sharepoint? I am specifically interested to know how can I best use List in Sharepoint for better collaboration with multiple people. Many thanks in advance Kevin!
Super information....I have a problem...When I have a meeting going with just me in the meeting...and I share my screen....the Shared Screen does not showup as an NDI selection in OBS...any ideas How to fix? Thanks so much for your help.
For your own screen, simply record the window that you’re sharing. It doesn’t produce an NDI stream for your own desktop since you can just record the source.
when we set this up for one call and the NDI Source can be set to Local/ActiveSpeaker/other meeting members, how does this affect the next time we want to use a similar set up to record, i.e. for a regular podcast? do we have to switch the source name every time since the Meeting rooms are different, or is there a way to set it up so it automatically detects new rooms?
I guess using NDI, could we use that to do a Live Event with like a Panel discussion or something? Currently as I understand there can only be 1 person talking in a Live Event but if we want to do a panel discussion, a Live event wouldn't work.
Kevin, How about an MS Team Live EVENT NDI/OBS Tutorial with multiple presenters and also an intro Slide with music before the event starts so attendees only hear the intro music . Please and thank you.
Hi Kevin, how do I get my Microsoft Powerpoint that has video and sound to be played through TEAMS on OBS? I have tried to stream my PowerPoint which has videos, but when i show my PowerPoint with video, the other side of the audience can't hear anything. Seems like any sound i played through TEAMS on OBS cannot be heard from the other side of the audience. I tried download the NDI on OBS but i am not sure how to set it up. The other side of the audience can only hear my voice through the mic.Can you help me?
Ha, I wish! Getting one video up each weekday is a lot 😂 I'll have to continue making improvements to my workflow. I recently picked up a capture card and that's helping me work faster. Stay tuned!
Is it possible to use this method when you are a guest in the teams meeting? (attendee or even external) And who has to put on the ndi switch? The organizer or the external attendee?
Hi Kevin! How to trim or edit videos through MS Streams??? Like for example, there is a part in the recording that I would like to crop because it is not nice, is it possible?? Sorry but I did not see it on this video. But this video still helps. Hope you can answer my question 😭
Hello Kevin, Can you please make videos of MS Teams secrets and tricks so that I can tell other teachers to use them in their classes. It is a humble request. Thanks.
Dear Kevin what we have to do to conduct a meeting for all the students in a school together (about 3000+ students). Is it possible in Microsoft teams?
I can not open my OBS all of sudden, after trying to do a update OBS & reopen, i get a alert that say's 'OBS files are being used by Microsoft Teams please close these applications to continue setup." I can not figure out how to do this.
can you make a video on all the different certifications you can get from Microsoft and the best courses to take, as many organizations offer courses I am not sure what is the best to take
Hi Kevin- I can see my NDI Teams camera and attendees ndi source, but I cant see my shared content NDI source... is there a setting somewhere Im missing?
Did you ever have an issue enabling NDI? It worked in a previous computer I had, now every time I try to enable it, it just says “an error occurred try again later”.
4 года назад
Kevin, what video editor do you use for zoom in and zoom out?
Hi Kevin! My admin enabled NDI and i can toggle it, but when i do an error occurs, it says NDI is not supported, do you have any idea what could be an issue?
Hi, i want to use virtual background on skype mobile, if any trick that i used this ? {Actually I need a software which have ndi support on computer , virtual background in mobile, and i should connect moible and pc like a meeting or etc.}
@Kevin Startvert: under properties of NDI source, i'm not getting various MS Teams options under source. Can anyone please help. i'm following all the steps shown here. i'm talking about 11:03: add NDI Sources to scene.
You left out a critical step that caused me a LOT of frustration. Once the Teams meeting starts, you need to click on the the ellipses and select "broadcast over NDI". If you don't do that, you're never able to see any Teams NDI sources to specify in NDI Source in OBS.
I try to use capture window for Onenote from Microsoft store app and it doesn't work. But it work for any desktop app. Can you please help me? I want to record for my lecture video.
Hi! Anyone know which should be the appropiated resolution for MS Team's picture? Mine is blurred all the time doesn't matter if I try with different pics :(

Fantastic video Kevin!
Two quick tips:
- if you ever notice that an NDI source is “resizing” randomly, right-click on it and hit Transform>Edit Transform.
Thanks for the note John and for sharing those tips! I ran into both of those quirks while testing this out. Good to know!
GREAT HELP for this one. Thank you!
Hey Kevin, 365 has changed the label for NDI to Local Broadcasting. Thx for the epic content!
You answered ALL MY QUESTIONS with this video, this is what I have been looking for. Thanks Kevin.
Thanks for sharing David! Excellent tips 😎

when we set this up for one call and the NDI Source can be set to Local/ActiveSpeaker/other meeting members, how does this affect the next time we want to use a similar set up to record, i.e. for a regular podcast? do we have to switch the source name every time since the Meeting rooms are different, or is there a way to set it up so it automatically detects new rooms?
Super useful.
Incredible, thank you!
I guess using NDI, could we use that to do a Live Event with like a Panel discussion or something? Currently as I understand there can only be 1 person talking in a Live Event but if we want to do a panel discussion, a Live event wouldn't work.
Is there a way to capture each participant video feed (I.E. their individual webCam footage)?
Kevin, How about an MS Team Live EVENT NDI/OBS Tutorial with multiple presenters and also an intro Slide with music before the event starts so attendees only hear the intro music . Please and thank you.
Hi Kevin, how do I get my Microsoft Powerpoint that has video and sound to be played through TEAMS on OBS?
I have tried to stream my PowerPoint which has videos, but when i show my PowerPoint with video, the other side of the audience
can't hear anything. Seems like any sound i played through TEAMS on OBS cannot be heard from the other side of the audience.
I tried download the NDI on OBS but i am not sure how to set it up. The other side of the audience can only hear my voice through the mic.Can you help me?

Pls make 2 to 3 videos a day.
Ha, I wish! Getting one video up each weekday is a lot 😂 I'll have to continue making improvements to my workflow. I recently picked up a capture card and that's helping me work faster. Stay tuned!
Is it possible to use this method when you are a guest in the teams meeting? (attendee or even external)
And who has to put on the ndi switch?
The organizer or the external attendee?
*Great Stuff* 📺🎬📽📼🎥📹📡📷 Am l right this is how RUclips is set up? But it's great to be in full control _piloting_ yourself. Thank you.

Sure thing! I have this on my list. Stay tuned!
Hi Kevin! How to trim or edit videos through MS Streams??? Like for example, there is a part in the recording that I would like to crop because it is not nice, is it possible?? Sorry but I did not see it on this video. But this video still helps. Hope you can answer my question 😭

Nicely done, Kevin!
Is there a way to edit videos after recording them using OS / NDI, or by using MS Teams itself?
Hello Kevin,
Can you please make videos of MS Teams secrets and tricks so that I can tell other teachers to use them in their classes.
It is a humble request.
Thanks.
He already has.
@@davidadams421 I want videos of some hacks like sharing while being an attendee.
I would like to see something on how to stop MS Teams controlling audio levels during streaming, e.g. perhaps by feeding the audio via OBS
can you make a video on all the different certifications you can get from Microsoft and the best courses to take, as many organizations offer courses I am not sure what is the best to take
Hi Kevin- I can see my NDI Teams camera and attendees ndi source, but I cant see my shared content NDI source... is there a setting somewhere Im missing?

Did you ever have an issue enabling NDI? It worked in a previous computer I had, now every time I try to enable it, it just says “an error occurred try again later”.
Kevin, what video editor do you use for zoom in and zoom out?
Hi Kevin! My admin enabled NDI and i can toggle it, but when i do an error occurs, it says NDI is not supported, do you have any idea what could be an issue?
I have office added teams for personal reasons. but in your video, I cannot find admin under account
Same
You should make mutiple part videos
Hey Sherwin - thanks for the note! Tell me more. Would you have preferred to see this video split up or would you want additional videos on the topic?

@Kevin Startvert: under properties of NDI source, i'm not getting various MS Teams options under source. Can anyone please help. i'm following all the steps shown here. i'm talking about 11:03: add NDI Sources to scene.
Hey, Kevin, would it be possible to do a short video on how to VoiceOver in PowerPoint? Don't even know if it is possible.
Sure Murielle, I'll add this to my list! Stay tuned!
You should make a tutorial on StreamYard
You left out a critical step that caused me a LOT of frustration. Once the Teams meeting starts, you need to click on the the ellipses and select "broadcast over NDI". If you don't do that, you're never able to see any Teams NDI sources to specify in NDI Source in OBS.
Thanks Kavin
I try to use capture window for Onenote from Microsoft store app and it doesn't work. But it work for any desktop app. Can you please help me? I want to record for my lecture video.
Hi! Anyone know which should be the appropiated resolution for MS Team's picture? Mine is blurred all the time doesn't matter if I try with different pics :(
