Why did you paint around the edge of the figure? What is sizing? Why did you use waxed paper? I stopped watching because I've never used gold/copper leaf before and didn't understand why you were doing these steps.

I have other videos that are more tutorials on Gold leaf. This was a watch along while I create a new look. I painted over the black background because this was a canvas print and the surface was slick. So I used a watercolor ground to give it more tooth. The digital body was protected with a clear frisket so I could paint up to the cut line and get a sharp edge. Then I did the glue (sizing) and waited for that to dry before adding the gold leaf.
