- Hello there my friends!!
Finally, a new video!
Like i said earlier, i was really busy the last few weeks.. but this was a really special event!
It's been 75 years since the south part of the Netherlands was liberated, and of course.. we CELEBRATE that!!
I wanted to film a lot more, but they wanted us to look authentic, so we weren't allowed to film during parades etc.
That's why most of the footage was made with phones. ( Sorry for quality )
So much awesome stuff happened, i hope you enjoy the video!! :)
Oh, and BTW.. the next video is going to be a Metal Detecting one, so stay TUNED! :D

When Doug put on that helmet he seemed so excited
Ofc he would get excited.
Andrew Smith
He looked ready to fight.
Andrew Smith He was gonna open fire on those germans
Lol yea
Yeah boy!!!!!!!!!!)true
I was born in 1949 and by brother in 1947, and in my city we had a huge store called Army / Navy Surplus and my dad would take us kids down there to look at all the left over stuff from the war that was for sell. I was house in an airplane hanger and I'll always remember the first thing you'd see as you go in the door was a huge bomb about 6' high as it was a tall as my Dad. Everything in that store was olive drab. How I wish I could go back.. My Dad didn't have to go to war as he worked on the Manhattan Project. He had gone to Princeton University and done his doctoral thesis on the geologic formations in which you could find Uranium. The government was looking for people that knew where to find it and he was one of them. Since my father was a Geologist he would buy the army stuff because he would have to spend many weeks out in the field so they were perfect for his work.. So we still many items that my dad used that was made for the war.
Where was the store?
That's amazing your father worked on the Manhattan project! I hope one day you can find that store and go back.
You're a special kind of guy my friend, I tip my hat to you. Seeing as I have family from both sides of the war, that being American and German, I strive to listen to these veterans as much as possible while they're still with us, so that whenever the day comes when there are no longer anymore of them among us I can do my best to keep their memories and stories alive. I know you'll do the same, god speed.
Who that’s pretty crazy how you had relatives fighting or Germany and relatives fighting for the U.S
I like how you have a wehrmacht profile photo and i have a german imperial army profile photo
It really made me cry thinking soon we won't have them special kind of brave people anymore and stop making the Germans the bad people I agree they did do bad things but not all were bad they were also just kids that gave Into propaganda like also all other vets like French Czech and all they all played their part
@@StewCrew72 Its not that crazy or that rare. But we know who the real heroes were.
There can be Germans fighting for the Americans, against the Germans
Americans seem to get all the celebrations at these events, thanks for taking time to make Doug feel just a special, as it was a joint effort.
I know
I wish we weren't Treated like that. Not that the American Veterans aren't Important! They are extremely Important! But all veterans should be Remembered, The French, British, Belgians, German, Czeck, Polish, Russian, Danes, Norwegians, Finnish, Japanese, Etc, Etc.
I so know
While the US army's role in liberation of the Netherlands was insignificant.
It was so fun at the event and Doug got Allot of attention he enjoyed it very much
Man, Doug was a awesome. Thanks for sharing and remembering.
Yes, he's a legend! :)
Lol
Man he was ready to fight Hitler again
I am a Warrant Officer in my Black Watch Royal Canadian Cadet corps and a group of our corps travelled to The Netherlands (including myself). We stayed in the city of Oss with host families and went to multiple parades where we marched through the streets in our highland kit, bagpipes blaring. I also met many veterans. Most of whom were Canadian and it was amazing. It's so cool to come back to Canada go on youtube and watch this video of exactly what I saw in the Netherlands. I love your channel. Thank you
I just watched a documentary on the Black Watch Royal Canadians on the History Channel this past week. You men were very brave I must say!
I would just like to say, thank you, on behalf of my country, USA, for remembering and honoring the sacrifices our veterans made specifically for your freedom.
I am a combat veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan. I did 6 tours all together. I don't think the people of Iraq or Afghanistan will ever thank me for what my friends and I did for them but they dont have to. I didn't do it for them. It was ny job and I just wanted to get home alive.
Anyway thanks again for all that you and your friends do to commemorate the sacrifices of our veterans.
We will honor them forever, we can't thank them enough!!
I have a lot of respect for what you've done sir!!
Thank you for watching!
Damn dude, you've been at war forever it seems, Thank for your service!
I mean, is it a surprise they wouldn't thank you? Iraq and Afghanistan were extremely unfortunate as many Americans and others lost their lives so others could make a profit.
Thank u for your service
yeah my dad fought in Iraq as a combat medic, his stories are always so horrible sounding and I dont blame him for PTSD
I wish I was able to do some metal detecting in all the areas you go to !! My grandfather was a British soldier who landed on the beaches in Normandy with the Canadians. I have a collection of WW1 items such as a German flag, Austrian original spiked helmet, German steel helmet, an original lamp with the candle still inside it, barbed wire medals and more. I even found a live British grenade in a field in France when I went to pay respect to my great great uncle ! Haha I didn't touch it though !
I love learning about the German side of the war and WW2 and how even though the germans were the 'bad guys' that you treat every name you find with respect and with compassion because they were still somebody's son.
I always wanted to be a historian about the ww2 time frame, I love what you do!
please never stop your channel !!
Wow, respect for your grandfather!!
Awesome, you have a lot of really cool stuff!!
Haha, smart move not to touch the grenade!
Yes, the German side is really interesting too, and... war was horrible for both sides indeed!
I'm sure you will be a great historian, keep it up!! :)
Thank you for watching!
Gr Nick
Same here. My grandfather was American, he took a bunch of lugers but when he got back home he threw them in some lake or river. No idea why and kind of disappointed. But I love learning about ww2. All I have of him is his uniform and pictures.
You made sure to call authorities to get the grenade safely disposed of, right?
Mine was too he died on d day
Both of my grandfathers served in WWII. But as far as metal detecting, consider yourself fortunate. I live in the states! I'd love to swing anywhere over there!!
You could see Doug was so happy to put on that Turtle helmet
All he needs now is a Lee Enfield Mk.1
Some Random Soviet Dude ye lol
He said he wished he had the M1 Garand instead of the Lee Enfield lol
It's touching to know that our veterans are still being remembered by those they helped to liberate. As a grateful American, I thank you for what you have done!
Man i wish i could meet more ww2 veterans,the last time I did i was like 10
It's a really special thing!
It's sad becuase there arent many left. All now you meet are korean war and Vietnam veterans, still an honor to meet them too though. No disrespect to them.
Zachary JBo ik it’s sad. I think all veterans from ww1 are wiped out and the same is happening to the ww2 veterans.
@@notisean5863 Yea, the last WW1 veteran died in 2011. There are still a lot of WW2 veterans, but they're passing away at a fast rate. I had a pastor that was a WW2 vet that past away last year. I haven't met other WW2 veterans since then.
that guy my uncle was a ww2 vet. we just celebrated his 100th birthday sept 30 2019.
I was at Omaha for the 75th anniversary with army cadets. I love meeting veterans for yourself. Its different to learning about it in history class.
Can u do another day in the trench i love them
Thanks i love them he is my favorite ww2 youtuber
Yeah do it in the cold Winter!
I will definitely make more trench videos! :)

_Me and the boys eating soup in the netherland fields._ Big thanks to all those that fought and participated in the Second World War!
Thanx for what stoopid? 50 yeqrs of Communism?
ziblot123 nope for what they did for a country they had never seen
Sadly, I have no people who were in the fight in ww2, but my grandpa and uncle were in Vietnam, greetings from America. 2 cousins currently air force and ground force.
Dude i live in Kentucky ( U.S.A.) and i love and respect the fact you show soooo much love to our troops. You know what the sad thing about it is? You show more respect and honor to our troops more then our own ppl. And just for that you got my sub, and my respect for that. Thank you for all that you do. And if you ever make it to the US try to make your way to ky we have alot of historical sites and museums i think you would really enjoy.
This is 1 of my favorite youtube video's. Seeing this makes me very happy because there were many young men that died and left their lovers at home, families at home, and friends at home. Visiting Vet's is great and you can get some awesome stories out of it and most importantly you can make their day, maybe even their lives.
Thanks, i totally agree!! :)
Just found your channel today, watching this video as my first. Incredible ride to take! I just spent this past weekend for my 40th birthday in Toccoa, Georgia where probably well know a portion of the WWII Paratroopers trained. For my birthday, it was my goal to run the Currahee Challenge 10K and I went 3 miles up and 3 miles down! Great video and I look forward to viewing more of your productions.
"What I would'a liked, was a Garand! Semi-automatic!"
As a Welshman thank you personally for making Doug feel appreciated and talking about this battle, I had no idea my countrymen fought here.
The United States and Great Britain have always been allies in the face of tyranny. God bless America and God save the king.
Hi, Nick,
It's always great to see the reenactments, but this was very special. You must have been so thrilled and honored to be in the presence of the original WW2 liberators. And to get the helmets signed...so awesome!
I am speechless, to think how these people felt to see their liberators entering their towns. And I believe it is a wonderful gesture for the young people, like you, to keep the memories alive! I salute YOU, Nick, and those other reenactors who take the time out of busy lives to do this!
Thank you for showing this to us. I was truly moved.
Cindy
Yes, it's so special to meet the real heroes, and yes.. i'm glad i got their names on my helmets!! :)
We will honor these heroes forever, and i'm so glad i was able to take part in these special moments!
Thank you so much for your kind comment again Cindy! :D

His eyes.
Filled with so much emotion.
What an amazing video! Thanks so much for sharing this. I will send a link to my mother who was liberated as a little girl in Maastricht on 14 September, 1944, by the 30th Infantry Division. I have been to Margraten many times and those men are the reason I joined the US Army and served my country for my entire adult life. I so wish I could have been there with my mother, but that was not possible. I saw you wore the 30th ID patch and I also saw someone wearing a 29th ID patch. My last unit was the 116th Infantry of the 29th ID. Those units are still active today. Thank you for honoring those men that attended. It made my heart swell to see them.
Thanks, glad you liked it!! :)
We will always remember the heroes who saved us, we will honor them forever!
Respect for you sir, and thank you for watching!
Gr Nick
Great stuff again. Well done for having a chat with the British guy Doug and presenting him with that bullet shell.
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!! And that was funny when everyone started laughing at max and the crazy ride.
Haha I'm max yep everyone had to laugh😂
I’m from the US and had many family members in WWII in both theaters. You are an amazing young man. Thank you for keeping the memory of the Greatest Generation alive. I was a bit surprised at the way your English sounds totally American.
HISTORY SECRETS and others listen this is important veterans are dying every day its 2020 now and by 2030 or so all ww2 vets would have passed away so pleaseeee try reunite the vets with old dog tags etc it will bring back sad but also good memories so please include mor vets in your videos and anybody who knows any vets please spend time with them and all thank you if you read this far
as well as all/most Korean and Vietnam vets
Most dogtag owners might have died in the war
It means its time to WWIII. Now serious, Brazil already lost almost all veterans.
@@vkanthems6744 wow so sad it ended before it began tho
@@bradynurfer556 It were only 24600 veterans and Covid-19 was like a bomb for them, but one veteran has survived the virus.
I got to play Hymn to the Fallen by John Williams while at Omaha beach this June for the 75th anniversary of D-Day

And yeah.. Doug is awesome!!
Thank you for watching!
Haha thank you sometimes I can be 🤣
Great Job Honoring Doug! And thank you to you and your countrymen for honoring our men that way.
Bless all the veterans out there.
Thanks so much for sharing 👍. It really means a lot to me to see that the soldiers that sacrificed so much are still being honored today. I thank you for honoring their memory by participating in reenactments and hope you continue up to the 100th anniversary and beyond.
I had family members who were in WWII, including my father in law who was in Europe early in 1945 through the end of the war. He was part of the 20th armored division and next year marks the 75th anniversary of some of their combat actions including their part in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.
I would love to talk more if there is a way. If you need anything for your reenactments, especially insignia, I might be able to help.
If you are ever in the US and had the time, I have some WWII era M1 Garands and M1 carbines and you can actually shoot a working version.
Best Regards, Jim 😄
We will honor them forever, we can't thank them enough for what they did!!
Wow, respect for your father!!
Haha, i would definitely love to if i ever go to USA! :)
Thank you very much for watching again!!

Tuesday May 5th 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands. I thank my Canadian ancestors of the 1st Canadian Corps's brave fighting, and the acceptance of the surrender to General Charles Foulkes by the German military. 7,600 Canadians died in the nine month battle. I am a Canadian who married my Dutch Bride in 1980 at Eindhoven. Bedankt History secrets!
Well Nick, This Video made me cry damn near hysterically- I feel So Proud to be a small part of the country that liberated yours- And you are So Lucky to have gotten to meet some of the hero’s of WWII!! Thank You SO Much for making and sharing this Video- It was Truly, Truly Special and So Far, It’s Definitely one of my favorites! Keep up the Great Work Nick, You are a Treasure!!

16:00 seeing him so happy is awesome :) Thank you for doing what you are doing man, it brings a smile to my face. Greetings from Germany :)
I gotta say, I love your videos. You pretty much inspired me to start WW2 re-enacting. Hello from the USA!
A ww2 Battle of Britain veteran visited my old school once, he told us some amazing stories of his experience in the sky. He had flown a spitfire mk1, and had told us he had shot a Stuka and a Messerschmitt 110. It was so amazing being in the presence of someone who had experienced the stories and tales I had read and adored since a very young age. My school also had a rich history because on one of our trips we went to the site of a shell dropped by a Dornier do 217. We also had veterans visit the school each Remembrance Day.
That kid makes me happy to see such young people intersted I'm history:D
Haha yeah that's me🤣

As a retired veteran of the U.S. Army and the son of a veteran of the U.S. Army that was in Germany I want to thank you and all of your reenactors for honoring our troops. My father was in Bad Tolz, Germany just after the war ended. He was with the 1st Infantry Division Big Red One Army Band that played all over Germany and the surrounding area. Thanks again and God Bless!

Incredible video Nick. In my opinion, your best. Your cinematography of this video, the transitions and narration were spot on. You captured such an important piece of history here, the liberation. The veterans you met was a very powerful moment for me. They reminded me of my grandfather's who served in the war who are now, no longer with us. Without the sacrifice of these heroes , we wouldn't be where we are today. And great idea to have them sign your helmets bc in about 10 years, all these veterans will sadly be gone and all we will have are their stories which you captured here. Good job Nick. I'm looking forward to the metal detecting. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Yes.. meeting the veterans was beautiful.. it's so special to thank them in person!

BEAUTIFUL video I came over there last year for the 75th anniversary and watching a parachute drop at the exact place the 82nd airborne jumped and landed in September was absolutely remarkable.
I love all of the ww2 veterans my heart goes out to them all
Perhaps you should remind Mark Rutte what The Netherlands owes to The Allies...

Nick I have to say I really love the fact that you honor our vet's and our war dead so much, my family is a big military family, most of the WWII generation served in the Pacific theater, but I did have 1 great uncle, and 1 grandfather who served in Europe, both of which were airborne. I also have a great uncle who was a sailor on pt 109 prior to J.F. Kennedy taking command, he was wounded, received a purple heart and a silver star for bravery, my other grandfather and all his brothers were in the Marine Corps, and everyone made the military a career as I did, I spent 21 years in the Navy from 1979 until 2000.
Thanks again for all the GREAT vid's and keep up the great work...oh yeah, tell your mother hello, I noticed she did not make it into this last vid.
I will always honor them, we can't thank them enough for what they did!
Wow.. Huge respect for you and your family!!

Hi NIck, your videos are awesome!, seeing a veteran holding a simple rifle casing after 70 years and seeing it remember those moments is really very exciting, as you know even a simple little object hides inside itself a lot of history, keep going and greetings from Italy.

Thank you very much! :)
When i hear these iconic locations i just can not stop thinking about the market garden campaign in company of heroes 1
Thank you for posting this. It made my day. Almost no teens or kids nowadays care to understand what happened and what these people had to go through.
Thank you for taking the time to include the British veteran. Yes the Americans played a vital role in the liberation of the Netherlands but it’s also important to remember the veterans from other counties whom also played their part in the liberation of the Netherlands such as the British, the Polish, The Canadians, The Gurkhas, & even your native Dutch soldiers to name a few.
Anyway thank you for all your amazing videos I really do enjoy them.
I loved this video so much, that I watched till the end!

Hey Nick, another great video! I am a student of world War 2 myself. Your dedication and historical correctness is admirable. I'm also a U.S. Marine veteran. Your respect for the military regardless of country is appreciated. You are a pretty good filmmaker and I think you could put together your own world War 2 short film. That is something I'd like to see. Semper Fidelis

he wanted to backdate them to be WWII helmets not the more recent Korean war version
@@stuffedminecrafter2524 yeah but he removed the original paint and added new paint which in theory removes the historical value.
