BATTLE OF THE BULGE - In the footsteps of the 82nd Airborne Division! Reenactment in the Ardennes

- Hello my friends! :)
It's time for a new video again!
At February 8th 2020, in the early morning, we went to the Belgian Ardennes for the 82nd Airborne remembrance walk.
Our goal always is to give the people the best impression of a WW2 position, we want them to take a step back in time, and see what it looked like back in 1944 / 1945.
We were here near La Gleize this day to remember the 82nd Airborne Division, who fought really hard in this particular area against Kampfgruppe Peiper / Waffen SS.
75 years ago.. this was a horrible place to be.. thousands of dead and wounded on both Allied an German side.
The Battle of the Bulge officially started on December 16th 1944, and came to an end at January 25th 1945 ( Allied Victory )
We are here to remember the brave men who gave their lives for our freedom, and we want to bring the people close to History.
It's very special to be on such a Historical place, with the same uniform, same equipment, and view.. 75 years later.
You only have to close your eyes, and you can feel the presence of History floating through your veins..
History is important, and we are here to preserve it!
I really hope you enjoy this video!! :)

That was the problem there were many German-Americans. That killed their cousins pretty much. The War was truly tragic for everyone and I hate it when I see comments that all German PEOPLE were Nazi Fanatics and hating towards Jewish people. Some Germans hid Jews.

I'm glad to see that someone finally realized that there was more than one AIRBORNE unit in the Battle of the Bulge. Absolutely NO disrespect to my other Airborne brothers and sisters . I was in the 82nd back in '72 thur '75 . Would give alot to be able to do what you guys do, keep it up. AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY
I know what you mean.. that's why i was happy this was about the 82nd!
Respect for you sir!
AATW!!! I served with the 82D 1/325th from 80/84. Thanks for showing the original Airborne Division.
Panzer Kommandants? Anyone? No?...ok
AIRBORNE GRANDPAW “it’s pretty cold!” Shame on you! Remember what the real soldiers went trough in 1944 in their summer clothes..
MiguelJW wow... people like you, disrespecting the veterans. These people are why I am not fond of America. I know when someone’s telling a true story, grandpaw is.
My grandfather was in the Battle of the Bulge and was wounded. My mom now has his purple heart. Watching this definitely gave me chills and goosebumps. Thank you
Lest we forget

32:37 hey that’s my re-enactment group, I was there in the beginning but had to leave early because of some business back home. I was stationed with my friend at the front of the bridge on the .30cal and that’s why you got him standing close by alone, because we were both so uncomfortable laying there in the small part always with our heads up by 90° and eventually we just gave up. It was still fun though, glad to see that they managed to get at least some screen time here
Nice
I was on the 30. near de bunker :)
Stanyy12, hey my dad and I visited you guys, remember I was the one in the Normandy jumper uniform
I see it cool
I served in the 82nd, and 101st Airborne in the 70's,80's and 90's.Thanks for keeping the legacy alive!
Wow, respect for you sir!! :)
I think I stated before my Grandfather was at the Battle of the Bulge as well. His unit the 1308th Engineering Battalion was on the outskirts of the Ardennes when the call for re-enforcements came down the line as they were building Red Route 1 at the time and had to drop everything in order to get on the trucks and rush north towards the battle.
Thats cool
Nice
my dad was in the 51st Engineer Combat Battalion. Lots of engineers had to drop everything and grab their rifles!

My grandfather fought in the battle of the bulge, he passed away a couple years ago. My grandmother passed away recently also but she always said that every night he she would have to get up and gently remove the covers off of his feet because the covers bothered his frost bite and would be moaning in pain while he was in bed asleep. He’s always had trouble wearing socks in shoes due to the tenderness of his feet and toes. He was the best man I’ve ever known.
I love the battle of the bludge my great grandfather fought in the battle he was part of the 101st airborne division unfortunately he was captured and brought to a POW camp but after the war he was liberated and came home.

Watching from Canada 🇨🇦, had 2 great uncles and my grandfather who served for Canada and my grandmother served for the RAF , what I wouldn’t give to visits these places love your videos!!!!! My great uncles helmet is on display at the national war museum in Ottawa, bullet went threw it ...thankfully my great uncle survived , he couldn’t say the same for the soldier that fired the shot unfortunately.
As a retired US Army officer who was fortunate enough to live in The Netherlands for 15 years, I walked the "In the Footsteps" walk 3 times. They were always amazing events. My wife and I also did the Bastogne Historical Walk 14 times. It is truly amazing to see all these reinactors .keeping the history alive with their uniforms and vehicles. I salute them all for their efforts!
This battle is deep for my family. Two grand uncles fought on the Normandy invasion. One capture at this very battle. Two German Americans fighting for their lives in the fatherland. I'm researching this battle in their honour. Rest in Peace Uncle Eddy and Normon!
Ur uncles are in heaven😇 I wish them the best life in heaven and i thank them for their bravery🙏🏻🙏🏻
My great uncle was in the battle of the bulge, I’m not quite sure what he did but I know he took part in it. He is still alive, around 96 years old. Though I see him a lot he never remembers who I am but what can ya do, I love him tho.
God bless your great uncle! Because of him, we are all now free today!
HiTechOilCo Well thank you, I will tell him this when I see him next
I salute to your uncle, I hope he has had a great time in his life!
I wish I was there, I’ll never forget the sacrifices those men made
We will always remember!
Maybe next time! :)
I have a great uncle that fought at the Battle of the Bulge
My dad was in the 82nd airborne and I am following in his footsteps as that I always looked up to (no pun intended) and believed in the airborne so I joined the 82nd airborne.the skies belong to the 101st and 82nd
The Battle of the Bulge wasn’t won by the heroic stand of the 101st in Bastogne. It was won by the fierce determination of small unit resistance by Army units who were overrun in the initial attack. The battle was determined by the small mixed units who out of supply, surrounded, out of command communication, chose to fight. The accumulated delay of this resistance caused a fatal delay in the timetable of the German advance. The battle was won by the mindset of the average American soldier in the field.
Combat Engineers stopped the German advance at several points
Germany's lack of oil was a major factor as well. Had they had the supplies they needed for that advance, they WOULD have reached Antwerp very quickly..

HI Nick love this video. Brings back some happy years of reenacting 101st Airborne in the UK. I experienced so much nostalgia from these events and spent a fortune on both US and German kit over the years. Would love to go over to the Arden and attend an event with you and Mark. Keep up with great videos mate.

My great grandpa was in the battle of the bulge. I have a question: can you make a video on how to make rations? That would really help
Its funny because i was on a "Tour De Krieg" with my father and we went to the Ardennes. It was the exact same things we saw.
I love your videos I have watch almost every single one!
Thank you so much, I'm so happy to hear that!!
When in combat you MUST keep all your weapons with you at ALL TIMES... even when sleeping. You wouldn't put down your primary weapon and walk off to go set up signs. Just something I noticed from being trained to do so... You may have to get up and leave in a moment, without ever being able to return. What you don't have with you on your person you should be prepared to leave behind, and never get it back. I have experienced several situations like this, and was very glad I kept my gear/weapon(s) close.
Now I don't know why the fcuk I'm even posting this. Oh well...
That said, Great Show and info and historical gear! I LOVE your channel! 😀😃🙂🙃😊

I want to also make new friends and meet more people like you.👍😀
Good luck to you! Your interest in history is admirable! :) In regards to history I tell people, "We can not know where we are *going* if we do not know where we have *been*". Studying history so as to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past is so very important and can save millions of lives. 85 million people died in WWII. :( Never again!
HiTechOilCo thank you for appreciating who I am and what I want to be😀👍
No, dont go to army

Man I wish I was as lucky as you and that I was allowed to keep WW2 stuff. I bought a lot of German ww2 gear for reenactments but instead my parents made me send it all back. I am a huge WW2 history fanatic and I like the Germans a lot because of the things they did is interesting I'm not saying I like Nazis not even a bit. But it just fascinates me of the history and I can't really go that far with it. Today is a sad day.
That is indeed sad. My parents allow me to collect whatever I do please. I hope you get to collect more soon

So good I had to do a double-take on it, 'almost' thought it was an actual period photo there for a second. Just a second though until I saw your laughing buddy walking up behind you.
