  • Friends from work dropped by our house to let my wife know that her special friend died in a car accident. These people were supposed to be my friends, too.

poor phil, he was a chad of the highest magnitude, the wife loved phil even more than the husband. She lusted after phils massive half-footer, she could not get enough of the throbber, when he neutralized himself in a car wreck the wife was destroyed by his passing.
She was foolish to cheat when she had a prenup. Her acting skills were world class when she fainted when she got served. The wife can console herself by visiting phil in the cemetary his new domain. His prenup from las vegas was ironclad, even the judge did not dispute it.

He handled it well. I'd be careful about going back to her for sure and absolutely draw the line with allowing her back into the house full-time. Everyone has to do what is right for themselves.

Wrong. He should not let that woman worm her way back into his life. She's evil.

OP handled the situation very well, but he needs to realize that his ex has no intentions of ever finding someone else.
She will continue to insinuate herself into his life, and taking up with his 2nd daughter was just a ploy to do that.
After losing the guy she really wanted to be with, she decided to go back to her daughter's father.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she wears him down, and he takes her back.

When someone says they take full responsibility for what happened, who else is suppose to?

It is amazing how clueless men can be about female behavior, OP noticed she took every opportunity to speak to AP, solicitous of AP and his son comfort, having conversations she made sure he wasn't a party to, love bombed through guilt, broke down when a fellow employee got into a car accident and he finally got the message when AP died and his wife broke down. It must be hard to walk with your head up your a--.

OP is now at least middle aged. He could do a lot worse then remarrying the biological and psychological mother of his two girls. Since they are sleeping together, what the heck.

Pretty sad story in many ways. The phrase "once a cheater always a cheater" isn't entirely true. It should be 99.8% of cheaters are always a cheater. I've met a couple of people during my life that had cheated on a former spouse but they never did it again in subsequent relationships. This wasn't info I was looking for but it came out in some situations and conversations we'd had over time. When I met and got to know them it was way past their "playing days" and they were living and treating everyone including their current partners like good decent people should treat others. The reason I said this is maybe this cheating wife had her wake up call and has decided to become a decent person moving forward. Doesn't mean there should be a remarriage just a friendly relationship maybe with occasional FWB times at least till the kids are grown and on their own. Then re-evaluate the situation. And if one or both of you find different partners along the way then you find them and can still be amical for the kids and each other. It's better this way than to continue with the nasty dramatics for who knows how long.
