I like how you explained your intro regarding ironwood. I’m one of the ones who liked and appreciated this section more than most and didn’t get that feeling of it being too long when I first played it, but I understand how and why others felt that way. Definitely on replay it’s daunting to get through again. Considering how long the overall game is, this “long section” is ultimately a small percentage of the playthrough. It’s worth it imo

Ironwood literally looks like something out of Subnautica and I love it (not sure if you’ve ever played Subnautica, Mati, but you should at some point if not).
I recently started watching your channel starting with god of war 1 part 1 and I just have to say…. You show the true meaning of being a gamer 💯 we need more people like you on the tube!

1:19:49 my problem with the stance changes in this game is the small window that you have before an attack comes from the enemy. in the previous game, the stance change was much quicker to activate, here it takes a little longer and for me i don't use it as much because the enemy attacks back with that long enough opening. one of my gripes about the combat for this game personally
The music during the Nidhogg fight was so sick. Vanaheim with Freya was such a good reset from Ironwood. I could see you reignited. Such a good game bro
This game doesn't exist without these three, Atreus, Freya and Kratos.. The emotions are too real and their arcs are perfect. And this is the first of many moments that brought well earned tears.
Yo just want you to know we support you 100% bro keep up the good work even with one episode a week u still one of my favorite streamers I always try to watch
I didn’t mind the angraboda section and loved how it ended, but I can see how it can go on for others a bit too long. Luckily after that lull things pick up to the pace you would prefer. Enjoy the rest of the game bud. Also I’m enjoying the double feature of elden ring and GoW a week. Also on a bit of a tangent but given the depth and detail of the world Corey Barlog built for GoW 18/R, it really makes me look forward to his new game that’s supposedly a full on rpg.
Yeh, that conversation at the end hits HARD. So much depth, so much intensity. Freya has been.. through a lot.. Her and Kratos are being so real in those moments. And so Mature and Understanding. Respect is earned between them. I did tear up and this game earned those.
Mati! Youre my favorite gaming channel currently, I get a kick out of seeing your reactions lmao I would love to see you play some of my other favorites after this like Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk or Red Dead 2. Amazing stories, characters, gameplay, music, everything! Please consider it 🙌🏽
Hey Mati! Love to see some more Raggy! Here's some tips if you want them: 1. Dodge rolling isn't that good, blocking and parrying is far more effective (I recommend only dodging Red attacks) 2. If you are looking to switch up your gameplay I recommend the 'Stone Wall Shield' it is super aggressive and fun! 3. Valor Rage acts like a parry! if you time it before a regular attack then it stuns the enemy, gives you more health and gives you a melee damage boost!
In the words of Kratos "No need to explain...not for that". A lot of us struggled with immersion in this game. It's the pacing, characters, and something about the story that made a lot of us go "ehhh..." But it does pick back up.
You have camera mati, you can pause the game even mid fight and enter camera/photo mode, you can move the camera freely to take screenshots, you can even change characters expresion in it, make kratos smile or even hold his tongue out while beating the shit of enemy during R3 sequence Press square in pause menu You can make epic or silly thumbnail with this feature
Double blue rings: bash them with the shield (tap the shield button twice) Yellow ring: the attack can be parried (tap the shield right when they attack) Red ring: an unblockable attack. Dodge it. Rage meter better used for fury rather than valor. Fury will also restore your health each hit, along with damaging the enemy. You know, picking harder difficulty is crazy, but even crazier picking it and don't know the basic mechanics of the game.
We back! Yeah the game picks up IMMEDIATELY after that section. I think we all agree that part of the game, while important story wise, is way too drawn out. I enjoyed a lot of things about that section, maybe more than most, but it definitely overstays its welcome by about 30-45 minutes at least. Maybe more. Good thing though, is that now you've entered one of my favorite maps of the game. Can't wait for you to explore more and continue the journey! 1:28:31 You have to hit the thing back so that you can swing over to that side. Something fun over there for you.
"The Reckoning" section of this game is probably my favorite couple hours of any game. The acting and the character development is unmatched. The devs gave us everything we wanted!
I can with my hand on my heart tell you Mati, I "suffered" with you through Ironwood. In fact, I think I've pretty much watched every second since Bloodborne. Keep at it, you're doing great!
The scene with Freya & Kratos settling their differences is my favorite in the whole franchise and gave me chills. Kratos returning her "You dont have to apologize, not to me, not for that" line is so poetic & beautiful after everything they've both been through. Chris Judge & Danielle Bisutti KILLED this whole game honestly but that scene in particular, my god.
You probably didn’t realize, but not many put it together immediately either. That snake was the world serpent. Since the snake is a child of Loki and Angrboda, GOW writers made a technicality by having it be ‘born’ by both of them here. Edit: To any who think this is a spoiler: it's not. It's not immediately obvious, but everything I said happened on screen in this video. Was just trying to shed light on a fairly foggy bit of writing.
You would be wrong. This is a spoiler. Its "foggy" because its not supposed to officially be revealed right now. If its not revealed then doing what you just did would be considered a spoiler. And it is. It doesn't matter if you can piece it together or know the mythology. I can't believe this has to be explained to people at this point. Your explanation woulda made more sense later in the game anyways when its revealed. Not now when its clearly meant to be concealed. Some people still don't catch it later in the game, and if they do then they don't understand. So your spoiler woulda been perfect then.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one bored to death with this sequence... They should have broken it up into at least two, if not three trips to the Panderverse. Instead of being gone for days Atreus would only be gone for a few hours when he travels to the Panderverse at night while sleeping and wake up back in his bed at Sindri's. Could have had the whole scene where Kratos is irritated when he returns from the place he later travels to. It just feels like it was tacked on for some reason.
Dude, great vid once again. You're a champ! 😉 I would love to see you play the two new jedi games, very similar to souls and GoW, and just as epic, i think you'll love them. Stay cool dude!
What's sad, is if Freyr didn't even know Freya was alive or in some dungeon, that means they've had zero contact for years, decades, maybe even centuries. WHICH MEANS; Freyr doesn't even know he was an uncle. He might've even met Baldur on several occasions/battles, and not even considered he was his nephew. Which also means, the only role model Baldur had was Odin. Freyr could've been a positive role model for Baldur, and Baldur would've never died and caused Ragnarok due to revenge and anger
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ironwood, great to hear other opinions that's why I enjoy watching content creators! I personally loved the unique atmosphere, animals and character building (especially Atreus) but I took my time over a few sessions with the simple quests. Nonetheless, now your in Freya's realm Vanaheim enjoy!
FYI-through some timeline warp, that snake Atreus saved becomes Jormungandr. Not sure if you remember in 2018 after they spoke to the World Serpent, Mimir mentions that he said he had met Atreus before. Lore says that Loki fathered the world serpent.

Your hustle is crazy. It is appreciated, but never expected. Take care, Mati. (I agree, the pacing in this is different, because the game wants to tell so much more. But there will be more of great moments like this between Kratos and Freya.)
Not that you’re doing a bad job, but something that will REALLY help with those beefy bosses is fully inflicting either burn or frost on them and then swapping to the opposite element. It might be a skill you unlock, but it does massive damage in a short window.
