So the special gate is an actual gear selector meaning it’s gonna be in that gear and that gear only? Like if you were in 3rd its only gonna be in 3rd not shift up to 3rd?

You've never ridden in a '68 '69 Hurst Olds, if you had you'd understand. Sometime ask a guy with a '69 H/O to give you a ride. '68 H/Os they only made a couple over 500, so they're very rare and not many around. You'll enjoy the ride, believe me.

if you're going to shift like that you don't need a dual gate.
No chance of going into reverse or neutral that’s why it is so good

you either have a "4-speed" or an "automatic" .... this is an accident waiting to happen !!
