Great car my neighbors had one when I was a kid, He sold it before I got my license. I still got an Oldsmobile when I turned 17, it was a 82 Delta 88 2 door coupe.
That delta 88 was nice I bet too oldsmobile always had the nicest interiors and shit

I’m a ford guy but I think these are cool cars. If it wasn’t for the government intervention, the 79 hurst olds would not have been choked up with emission control devices and catalytic converters. If you find another one of these cars, give it true dual exhaust straight pipe. It’ll wake up rapidly
gotta love them shift kits and the 2nd gear chirps i wanna put 1 in my iroc she chirps sometimes into 2nd hope you have good luck sellin it keep the videos coming

@briggspower Its the B&M Shift Improver Kit. You can buy it at Summit Racing. Don't remember the cost but they aren't much.

I love the shift kits I had a B&M shift kit on my old 83 Cutlass I also had the his/hers shiffter in my 83 but after watching this vid now I know something was wrong with my shiffter cuz it did not move that smoothly like yours. Anyway good luck with the sale it should go quick at that price

The 1979 oldsmobile cutlass calais I used to own has 5.0 305 long block with a 750 4 barrel carb. The dash speedo goes up to 120 mph. It could go faster than that.
No speedo went to 120 MPH on a 1979 Cutlass but I am sure it was fast!
@olds7980 did you ever have a problem with the speedometer ticking and kinds jumping a little

Usually the W30 has a fiberglass hood. Mine is a non W30 but came with a fiberglass hood 305HO motor. W30s have a 350
None of the W30 cars in 79 and 80 came fiberglass hoods. They were either metal or aluminum. You are correct that the W30s came with the 350.
@@ClassicGBodyGarage strange my 79 cutlass supreme came with a fiberglass hood. A guy I worked with said people get killed in accidents in these cars the metal hoods can go right through the windshield. My factory hood would break up before that.
@@ericmesi1764 Not a single Gbody came with a fiberglass hood from the factory. Its not even on the RPO option sheet. Take my word, i have been dealing with these cars for 30 years. If the hood went through the windshield in an accident don't you think that would have been a massive lawsuit for GM back in the day? It would also mean every one of my cars should have a factory fiber glass hood as well and none of them do.
@@ClassicGBodyGarage this guy I worked with wanted to cut my car down because he bought a turbo Volvo that those cars are all about safety. I bought my car from a computer firm. The guy who sold it liked me as a kid. I tried getting my friend one wouldn’t do it. I later added headers the heat started sucking the hood in because of the fiberglass. I know Centech corporation wouldn’t change the hood, it has the the factory chrome strip down the center. Had the car all these years I’m still learning about it, of course when I bought it there was no google or RUclips to learn from.
@@ClassicGBodyGarage then after 41 years I changed the power steering pump. Found out the bracket and pump is for a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass not a 79. But the lines were 79 lines going to the 79 steering gear box. So I bought new lines then a hose specialty shop added 1980 ends on it going into the pump. I kept this car always in the garage no rust at all bolts are like working on a new car. Also in 79 Oldsmobile would pay for cam replacements if they chipped. Mine never chipped.
Get it up to operating temp....which I have to guess at since the temp gauge doesn't work.
Man, I've been trying to find one of these shifters. It is NOT easy. I've seen others like from the older A bodies and F bodies, but they don't look like they fit at all in a g body console.

I wanted a Tach installed in mine like that, to fix the speedo and add the tach I was billed $650 WOW

no on this car but yes i did on my other cars. Just pull the speedo cable out and oil it.
