A skilled warrior observes an even better warrior uses what he learns to win.
If he does the Heimdal fight it's a complete stomp by Kratos. Canonically the only hit Heimdal gets in is his big beast shoving Kratos into a wall and allowing him to get a kick in. Kratos kills the beast immediately after that and Heimdal doesn't get another hit in showing he had no skill when it came to a true warrior like Kratos

I love how wildly Baldur fights. He’s the Honey badger of the Aesir gods especially when you compare him to relatively sane gods like his brother. Kratos said it himself, Baldur fought wildly with his motivation to inflict as much suffering as possible. Thor reserved his bloodlust for the fight itself, and arguably did much better against Kratos because of it. He straight up parries the leviathan axe by summoning Mjölnir, & managed to mortally wound Kratos (even if the latter was holding back). Their fighting styles are night and day. Just look at the punches they throw. Baldur’s throwing telegraphed blows & lightning quick attacks with nothing held back. Thor fights like a Viking Berserker, taking insane amounts of punishment & giving just as much. But he’s not a mindless brawler, he throws punches like a boxer & even holds up his guard sometimes. He knows when to use his strength & when to wait for an opening. Baldur was a loose cannon while Thor was a warrior… who was also twice the size of his brother 😂
Your definitely not wrong about how they fight Baldur had an insanity fueled unpredictability and speed on his side while Thor was the closest equal to Kratos in raw strength and refined skill
@@omarimran530 No argument here. Týr has been honing his skills for centuries & visiting other mythologies. Wields four different weapons & a bunch of his own magical techniques. All the while not actually wanting to fight him. Its why the first cut scene was so close its only as the fight goes on that he realises he needs to actually fight
The only thing making Baldur hold his own is his invulnerability. Even with it, all he could do is barely hold his own. And once Baldur started experiencing pain for the first time - it was over.
@XcL-Ignites they're all "immortal" - Baldur jumped an old, "peace seeking" Kratos who held back most of his strength - and still couldn't win. Heck, even when Kratos first fought Thor, he didn't go all out - he does not want to fight. Once he accepted that there would be war, he pretty much folded every Asgardian like a piece of paper 🤣
2:59 The way Kratos has this posture makes me think he was clearly letting himself getting punched by Baldur, flexing his muscles to absorb those impacts. He isn't pulling any guard, his arms on his side.
I rather believe that Kratos at first couldn’t react to Baldur’s speed so he couldn’t block in time, but I believe more that this is Kratos being smart, analyzing his strength and speed, is always what Kratos does, he wins by a hair in his first fights against the most powerful Norse Gods, except Odin because it was all straight, and had Freya and Atreus, but he wins barely against Baldur and Thor, but in their last fight, Kratos shows better combat and is practically able to predict and counter their attacks because he knows their fighting style… there seems to be a God of War still in his veins
Good stuff, but didn't come to their house looking for a cure for his curse. He was sent there by Odin who sensed a Jotun (it was Atreus) but Baldur assumed it was Kratos. Throughout the fight, he gradually catches on that the actual Jotun was in the house, being hidden.
no baldur was tracking his wife and mistaked kratos for her hence the "i thought you would be bigger" because he had her ashes on him so he was bathing in her sent
To add to the first guys comment, he was looking for a giant (who we now know to be Faye) because Odin convinced him that Jotunheim held the cure to his curse, which of course only a jotun can access at that point in time
That makes it a bit confusing, who is Baldur referring to when he says "I thought you were supposed to be so much better than us, so much more clever" some shit like that? Was he talking about the Greeks or the Jotuns?
I loved the fact that more then most this felt like a real fight between two people, most games the fights are over exaggerated and flashy to be flashy, this felt real and natural and the supernatural elements flowed well and came off how it would look with two fighters strong enough to lift mountains.

Guess the Devs realized this would simply cost too much & be too much effort to make every fight like this 😅. GOW Rangarok doesn't have ANY fights where the ground gives way like this.
The great thing about this game, motion capture. To my knowedge, these fight sequences were choreographed, and acted out in motion capture suits, for the animators to rig to.
I love the analysis! How Kratos and Balder fight, the way Kratos has more control and Balder leans on the fact that he is immortal and doesn't really have to care about defense and it lets Kratos take the advantage. I think in a lot of ways Baldur is like young Kratos, back when he was all aggression and offense, but now that he is older, he knows how to keep up with that

Amazing work! Keep it up. The concept is well developed and super fun!
Good video man, i like the angle you took.
I never though MMA style video game fight breakdowns would be my new interest but here we are
Love these type of vids. You and sensible saiyan man peak content
Really unique concept for a video, enjoyed it a lot!
*Brings that punch all the way back from mount olympus itself*
This video is great dude, I'm gonna go watch the next one immediately
I really Love this Fight Commentary. I had to Sub. 😁😁👌👌 You can tell that it's two Vets and Legends holding back a lot of their Skills and Power in the 1st Round.
Keep doing these man!
This was perfect can you do other god of war fights aswell please, like the other kratos vs balder fights, or kratos vs thor.
This is lovely! Keep them coming 🔥
Bro you need to do more of this type of videos. There is so much more you can explore so many vs battles from movies, animes, mangas, games etc.
Hey this is an amazing video, please cover as many fights as you can!!
love the content ❤️❤️
You can tell the Devs were going ALL out w this first fight in the new modern age GOW series!
The sheer amount of environmental destruction seen here was never done again after this fight... Guess the Devs realized this would simply cost too much & be too much effort to make every fight like this 😅. GOW Rangarok doesn't have ANY fights where the ground gives way like this.
1000% hope more devs keep with this trend
this vid made me appreciate this fight more good stuff brother
Please continue further this type of content man. You are doing it im telling you
10/10 video I’ll be patiently waiting for the next one
I've not seen your videos before, but this was really entertaining. I'd watch a series of this.
can't wait to see more of these, this was interesting to see and excited to see more content like this from other fights in other media (maybe anime?)
Dude your commentary is awesome
The great thing about this game, motion capture. To my knowedge, these fight sequences were choreographed, and acted out in motion capture suits, for the animators to rig to.
Your videos are great thank you :)
Yea we need more fight breakdowns. However long it takes
and thats how you make content.. great video mate💣💥
I love the analysis! How Kratos and Balder fight, the way Kratos has more control and Balder leans on the fact that he is immortal and doesn't really have to care about defense and it lets Kratos take the advantage. I think in a lot of ways Baldur is like young Kratos, back when he was all aggression and offense, but now that he is older, he knows how to keep up with that
bro this was so good
Nice breakdown !!
Hope to see more videos like this bro. Great job 👍
Bro came back after 2 months and decided to make banger
I don’t understand where this started or when it began, but now every game and movie is reviewed by some no-name pseudo-professional fighters, fencers, doctors, filmmakers etc. It’s just ridiculous!
Dope video bro! Never seen nothing like this
This RUclipsr is going places! Hope for more Kratos vs. Gods Content. That was really enjoyable!
More of these please and thank you.
Love your commentary and breakdown of the fight. Was a very entertaining video. Instant sub and like.
This was hella fun to watch, keep it up mate
Great video, much respect for the FF13 remixes in the background. Amazing ost
Thanks for noticing lol
Bro that’s a top notch video. Great analysis. Respect
