Nice POV mate. 👍 think I’d go manual as well… simply because you can. You won’t have that option for much longer so fair play to BMW for giving us the choice.
I’m used to mini’s and bmw (1 series) manual, my mom have a manual CX30, mazda gearbox is really nice but a bit too “stiff” How do you compare bmw manuals to mx5 and porsche cayman manuals?
I rented a M3 Touring for 3 days and on that I couldn’t feel how fast I was going, just as you’ve commented with this M2. For me this is a slight negative, I’d rather have some form of feel/feedback. Will find out more when I rent it in a few days. Great video, thanks for it, helps me with my self debate on manual vs auto
As an update, I did rent a G87 Auto M2 in black. Absolutely beautiful car. More importantly, I felt it was more of a drivers car than the M3 touring. Whilst the steering feedback is lacking the feedback from the chassis is great. Due to its size, that its rear wheel drive only and likes to kick its back end out makes it a more fun car too. For me the weight is not an issue, on the M3 touring I really felt the weight while braking but not on this. Not as spikey or raw as I’d like it to be but I was sold.
@@MrHCars thanks. Cayman GT4 right? I haven’t driven it but had a lot of back and forth since 2015 about buying it. Never materialised due to personal reasons (newborns, etc). Next on the list to rent!
Regarding your comment on the M240i being better value than the M2, it's safe to say the only reason to get the more expensive car is for the manual transmission. Had the M240i been RWD and offered with a manual, most customers would opt for that instead. A manual Mk5 Supra would be more fun (not to mention less expensive) but it lacks useable rear seats and has a smaller boot than the 2-series range.
That’s a very good point! Forgotten that the 240 doesn’t come as a manual. And sadly the Z4 M40i is ZF only too… but if the supra manual now exists, we can keep our fingers crossed on the z4
Nice review mate. Interesting that the gearbox is a bit rubbery, can't say I am surprised. The old DCT gearbox was compromised but the GTS flash fixed that and made it awesome. I wonder if tuners will make a ZF flash to make the gearbox more aggressive... Would be needed with the M3/ 4s out there being tuned to 700+HP... Gearbox wont keep up!
Thanks mate! That will be interesting and I’m sure it already exists now from the g80/82 platforms. That Milltek tuned M4 I drove, exactly like you say, gearbox couldn’t keep up!
@@fzr1000981 Not a hater, what is the point? I seriously don't understand why BMW has THREE cars that are essentially identical. Just different market segments? The M2, M3 and M4 manuals, for example have EXACTLY THE SAME 0-60 and quarter mile times. EXACT. They almost all weigh the same, why would I buy an M2 with a tiny little backseat, that is almost unusable compared to the M3 and M4? It weighs almost the exact same. The interiors are almost identical otherwise. Besides, making it financially viable to BMW, what is the point for the consumer? I'm pretty sure the older M2, M3 and M4 had some deviations, especially with the motor and definitely the backseat. The backseat in the G87..unusable!
@tommy516 smaller car is more maneuverable than M3/4 according to most people who have driven both, but yes I would prefer another 300 lbs cut off. It's still about 20k cheaper. I don't care about back seats...the 2025 M2 with ZF has more torque and I don't need a manual either, especially one that isn't very good
@@MrHCars I have a 2023 Supra A91 6MT and went through this dilema recently. Manual is so rowdy and so much fun to drive even though I'm a bit slower technically than the zf8. You only live once. Enjoy what you drive.
Cayman GT4 same price? Nope, it’s $95 v $63!
When I heard that I went right to the comments.

Seen rumours the cs will be z… ZF 🤢 only

What color would you have it in, and bucket seats as a manual daily?

Haha no worries, glad I could help! 👊🏼
i drove the m3 competition touring and felt the automatic shifted kinda slowly so im not sure how much better the m2 automatic is if its similar

@@JunaidKhan-tg6yv great feedback! Glad you got on well with the M2.
Should rent a Porsche too, try and experience the weight on that

imo i liked the zf more. i didn't like the rubbery manual. i have always had manuals in my sports cars but i didn't like this one. sorry to disagree

no one would opt for a 240i when they could get a Real M

You got XHP, it did a whole lot on my X3 M40i. Should be a significant difference.
offcourse manual in this car !!! a purist real one. zf is boring as fuck
Good review mate. Personally anticipating the M2 CS, but rumours are it will only be available with a ZF 😞
Thanks dude!
Think that’s going to be the one to get for the weekend drivers! Hopefully comes in a manual too then 🤞🏼
Great video buddy 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you mate 🫶🏼
another excellent video. thx for sharing.
Thanks Josh 👊🏼
Horrible idea to have the G87 next to an F87...............wow!
Another previous gen hater, new car better in every way

G87 ZF8 for the people who want straight line speed. G87 6MT who like driving engagement and being connected

G87's manual is not that engaging though
Dumb review.
