Chiming in here to address the various comments questioning why I purchased the car if I "hate" it so much. I dont hate the new M2, in fact I like it a lot. Like most of the cars I own or review, I try to be subjective by highlighting the positives, as well as the negatives. As a pontential buyer or viewer, wouldn't you like to hear thoughts from both sides? Go watch the other video and you'll see everything I love about it. That said, I can't wait to start modding the M2.

    • @VehicleVirals

@@xpo186 Didn't get the chance to drive a manual Supra. I do own an auto one however, and I prefer driving the M2. The Supra is lighter, sounds better and you feel more. Technology and comfort wise, it's not great. It's also rather small inside and not very practical (two seats). Supra is also slightly cheaper than the M2.

@@VehicleVirals Thank you for your insight sir. I'm a huge fan of the channel and also have a similar setup on my E92/N54 build as you (main difference is it's a DR top mount). I'm in a situation where I'm shopping for either a GR Supra or G87 M2 (transmission is marginally important) and would like the most satisfying ownership experience for the next 5-10 years. If you could own only own one of these cars, which would you pick and why??

No offense but why did you buy the new M2 if you despise the looks so much?😅
Also, I had both a manual M2 Comp and an automatic M2 Comp. I get it manuals are fun but for whatever reason the M2 is a better car in automatic. You messed up buying it in manual.
I’m a minimalist and I love the new look. I like it better than the M2 comp. The M2 comp was too busy in the front and the rims were ridiculously difficult to clean.
I do agree that this car looks best in black. My order was previously for Brooklyn Grey metallic and I switched last minute to Black Sapphire Metallic with cognac interior.
Anyway, good luck with the M2. Just sell it and get your money back if you don’t like it lol!
One last thing. I’m shocked the end of your video you bring up price. I constantly switch back and forth from BMW to Porsche. I had an $84k G80 M3 xDrive and then a $72k Corvette C8 and the C8 is a good car for $72k but the M3 is definitely worth the extra $13k. It punches way harder. BMW’s are performance bargains. The M2 is an absolute bargain for $65k.

Many of your complaints I don’t get/understand why they are any issue. The new idrive8 is superb and only a matter of getting used it it. Just because you likely came from idrive7 and are used to Id7 it will be a “learning curve” to get used to id8… we have two i4 m50’s and about to purchase the m2… but imo, don’t like the rear tail lights and front grille is sort of questionable. But the car drives nicer than the previous m2 imo. But I’ve not been on the track yet with the new m2.
The carbon package seems great. And the use for this car would be primarily track use. We just did the 2day m school and going back soon for advanced, and gt4 lessons. This m2 is sort of affordable in comparison to some other new cars that are comparable.

Thanks for the video. I just bought an M2 a few days ago. Black sapphire with manual transmission. The big empty space in the front is a big air intake, probably doesn't look that great but does serve a purpose. I'm still figuring out all the technology, but I believe you can preset car performance and store it into the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel, so you just push that when you restart the car that has gone back to original defaults, and then you don't have to do them one by one on the screen. There is turbo lag in the m3 comp also it’s just a safety thing for stock cars

    • @americanAlienBoy
      @americanAlienBoy Год назад

Lag is literally the opposite of a safety thing. You want throttle response to be as linear as possible. Picture this: you’re rolling into the throttle to accelerate hard out of a tight corner. You feel like you’ve got everything dialed, but then the turbo finally spools up, and suddenly, without changing how hard you’re pressing the fun pedal, you’ve got way more power than you had a 1/2 second ago. Now you’re got to catch the car before in spins.
How do you think the original Porsche 930 (the rolling definition of lag) became known as the Widowmaker?

appreciate the honest and thoughtful analysis and agree about some of the design "flaws" being corrected by going with black saph. That's why I ordered mine in black but I will say the car does look really good overall in person even in other colors.... and the longer gearing/turbo lag def would be a bit frustrating but a quick ecu tune/flash will fix that. Flashed my 911 turbo and the boost comes in 500-1000 rpm sooner than stock which makes a world of difference.

After watching your vid Im more like: "stick to your M140, because its more car and less tech" i dont need for a fun car. The only function Im using is the sport monitor for lbsft and HP in my M140... i dont need and want any restrictions from BMW. I love the new design and the new Engine but the things you pointed out would fck me out as well... thanks for your vid and wish you all the best from germany (where we also have the relectors and nobody knows why)

I don't agree with your analysis of the prices. You haven't taken into account the staggering inflation post covid and the fact that right now there are plenty F87s (non comp) models that are above 53k (brand new MSRP) with over 40k and sometimes over 50k miles. Even the new M240i MSRP with no options with the delivery charge will go close to 53k, that's that's a non M car, although arguably it performs better than the original M2 in some aspects. In my opinion you are being a bit too biased in this video. But again, this is just my opinion.

My BSM with carbon pack is getting built in 2 weeks finally. Most of these things don't apply as much for me as I'll get different wheels, and am already used to putting my M2C into M mode every time I drive. Climate I can get used to the one touch button. I never press the physical iDrive control buttons in my car now as is. I hardly even use the wheel. Nor do I use any apps since CarPlay always takes over. But they absolutely could have made that interface look better.
The gears do seem pretty long, will just have to adjust to driving in the higher end of the RPM range to get the most out of it. I'm also used to that I suppose from driving my R6.... that powerband is 10k-16k haha. I'm sure a tune will also make a huge difference.
In the end, I still don't think any other car comes close to the whole package the G87 brings for the $70k range with a manual and similar features/potential, besides the CTSV5 but that car is going to be over 100k, and so will a newer Porsche.

I tested the M2 as well yesterday and noticed it just won`t get moving under 3000 RPM. Why is that? The same engine in the new M3/M4 is far more responsive and spools up a lot quicker. I guess a M240i with xdrive and a stage 2 is a lot more agile than the M2. A little disappointed by the new M2.

Im looking at buying my first M car (or something modern from BMW). Iv owned about 13 BMWs at this point and they were all 80s to mid 2000s cars. I had a F32 for a little while (435) but I sold it since I had 2 coupes at the time and I needed something practical.
Im looking at either a F82 M4, E90/E92 M3 with the DCT, F87 M2/maybe a 240 or a G30 540 (but thats at the bottom, I dont need a sedan). I could spring for a F32 440i even tho I owned a F32 435. Not sure what to add to the stable. My 2006 X5 is my daily/winter/hauler, low mileage and iv done a lot to it. My "classic" is my E31 850 that I take out when its nice out.
Whatever I end up getting would be my daily for most of the year and maybe the X5 will be demoted to just a winter/hauler.
I dont look at cars as investments, but I also don't want to get a ///M car that sucks or the values are tanking. I guess I can always spring for a non ///M car and just deal with depreciation with a little piece of mind if anything.
    Any suggestions?

I love the interior and the screens. He's right about the newer sports cars not being as fun as the older cars. Why are they doing this? This is why I'm hanging onto my C7 Corvette Z51 M7 and not buying a C8. I know I'll be disappointed. I don't want a civilized sports car! I have an SUV for that.
