  • Here Comes The Sun. Slow Stitch With Seeds and Beads as we think about clearing the ground to make way for new things. This is Week 4 of our September Stitch Along.
In September we are taking inspiration from the golden fields at harvest time. It's a time to be thankful, take stock of our accomplishments and think about the seeds we want to sow for our future harvests. This week, I've been watching farmers clear the stubble from their fields after harvest. This is an important part of the process that makes way for next year's crops.
I've been clearing out too - getting rid of junk and the leftovers of a life I no longer live. It's been so good for my mental health to decide that I don't need to hold on to these things anymore. So, let's chat and ponder the benefits of lightening the load as we finish our September panel.
If you like what you see and want to catch all the videos in this series, you can subscribe to this channel, and if you click the notifications bell, you will never miss an upload.
Join me at 2.30pm GMT every Sunday for a restful time of slow stitch, embroidery and textile art. Each month we are going to create a complete piece of art that we will create bit by bit each week.
Feel free to follow my design, use my piece as inspiration, or you could use the same techniques as me to create something totally original.
I hope to try lots of new things this year as I create my 2024 stitched journal. I hope you will come along for the ride!

Thanks so much. I love how mellow it is, in spite of all the strong colour. It's totally reflecting how I feel at the moment, so it sits well with me. It's a panel of contentment for me. Glad you like it too. 🌞🌻🌾💛

Lovely stitching ✨ I definitely can’t cope with more than a couple of projects on the go at any one time - I sometimes think I can and start, but it really unsettles me and I end up rushing to finish so that I am just back to one again! And that way I do find I have a bit of spare headspace to plan my next project ….even if I can’t start it yet!😁

I totally get that. I like to have a couple of things so that I can choose the project I am in the mood for, but I think it's got a bit out of hand for me at the moment. I need to finish some things, I think. I am in need of some creative head space to plan next year's project! 🤗

What a lovely piece using subtle shades of yellow and gold, and the multi coloured granitos stitching is so effective.

I love yellow and this project so much! One day I will make it, but I am one of the people who can't cope with too many projects on the go at once and already have 5 that I am actively working on. Like you, I can't focus or concentrate on what I am doing if my table or room is in a mess and love a clear table with just one project on at a time. Thank you for another inspiring and relaxing video.

Thanks so much. I'm glad I'm not alone with the mess thing - my husband can work in total chaos but I just want to cry! These videos will be available long-term, so you can start whenever you are ready. 🌞🌾🌻

That's a gorgeous panel. I live the granite stitch. I have done it before but didn't know what it was called.

Thanks so much. I really love granitos. I need to use them more! It's one of the stitches that I forget about, but should be using all the time. 😂

This is a wonderful piece. I love your design process, instinctively knowing when it is done. Thank-you for your indepth, easy to follow instructions. Can you tell me where you source your beads? Diane

Hi. I figure it's done when I like it. It's the best gauge I have come up with. It means I rarely abandon something - it's just not finished. I get most of my new beads from Totally Beads in the UK, but many of the beads I use have been gifted to me over the years.

You often talk about a sharps needle. Please could you advise which brand and size you generally use for these projects. Thanks

Hi - great question. I've explained a bit about needles in this Sunday's video. Hope it helps. ruclips.net/video/MD7Uu5ziSXw/видео.html
