Just started learning to do embroidery at the age of 58! Absolutely loving it and your channel is just fabulous. Finished one design already and nearly finished another. Totally addicted!
You made a big key statement, one that my mother always preached to me in her own manner: "PRACTICE! Practice makes the expert!" And she applied what she preached to embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, knitting, etc. She was talented and I wish I had told her that. But I was a kid, and just assumed all mothers were able to do what my dear mom did! 🥰 I will create a sampler and get going on practicing my stitches again, the ones my mom taught me so many years ago. Bless you mom! And thank you Sarah for reminding me!
I really appreciate you stating what size needles you are using in these videos. I'm so glad I found your channel. It's been a cold winter here in Kansas USA! I've been a quilter and cross-stitcher, but I'm going to give slow stitching a try. Thank you for your time and effort doing these videos .
Love the SLOW STITCH…….as a newbie the scatter the bird seed advice help with the visual brain……try same length as much as possible …..oh the double stitch looks interesting…..changing angles is more fun ….great advice on triangles ….love the “ditch” the accuracy great advice……yes I can see the lace affect….Thank You Gracious Teacher
I adore this series bc it’s where I am as an embroider - kinda wanting to sort my on way and relax. I will say for those who are new, one of the best learning tools for me along the way have been vintage embroidery kits. A lot of educational opportunities are in these kits - usually I’ve found those labelled “crewel” embroidery the most varied. Seems if they are cotton floss rather than wool, they are mostly satin stitch variations. Crewel kits can be a gold mine of opportunities to learn a new stitch. I also have done vintage “pillow” kits as well as needlepoint kits. I feel much more confident and comfortable in my ability to create my own works now. Just some thoughts from my experiences….
I had a full 2 years ago. I had a brain bleed with this. I don't remember much about that. My depth perception was affected. I was doing cross stitch projects. I could no longer see the material. Your videos are just wonderful. Since I can't see the pattern, I could no longer cross stitch. Slow stitching has been great. Thank you so much!!
Love your videos. I'm a new embroiderer. They're all very instructive and easy to follow. Great presentation. I just saw your seed video. And I was thinking... if people find these pieces that people have practiced on wouldn't they be great to incorporate into a crazy quilt? So they have a continued purpose and enjoyment.🤗 Thank you for sharing your time with us. Diane
I loved watching you work...I have done embroidery in the past but was always certain basic stitches...I like how you show new stitches plus the sampler stitching on a roll ❤
Sarah you are an amazing teaching. I have learned so much from you thank you so very much for your teaching. I have been stitching since I was a small child. I have learned all this time I have been doing some stitching all wrong. 🤗you are AMAZING!!!
Sarah.... I love seeing your eyes free of hairs.... perfect bangs length easier to watch while you speak And I am so happy for this Sunday special... light snow flakes falling here now, muffle sounds and spread clean white blanket over all mess created by people (lol) Thank you for being there...
I love to do slow stitching, & I have been looking for something to start up a project. This will be perfect! Going over to watch your first video now! Thank You for the tutorial!
I’ve done seed stitch and double seed stitch, but I never thought about the other variations! (Though I should have, because I use similar patterns in Zentangle.) Thanks, Sarah!
I'm very excited now that I know several different seed stitches!! I never thought of changing the stitches to make other shapes. Thank you for sharing and I will be adding these to my sampler today!! Stay safe. Hugs ❤
Thank you so much for this. I wanted to start doing something with embroidery stitches I was learning. I discovered crazy quilting. I am discovering quickly I need to learn more since I don’t have a clue how to start making blocks but I will learn. I truly love doing slow stitching too. I guess bottom line I love stitching. You have taught me so much. Thank you
Hello Sarah, I am left-handed when sewing/embroidering and at times struggle to follow right-handed instructions where the stitch is quite involved, but for fairly simple ones I have no problem. Fortunately a few years ago I came across a book on embroidery stitches for left-handed people and it has been so useful. It is not as comprehensive as those for right-handed people but it works well for me.
You may have already seen it, but Yvette Stanton has an excellent stitch dictionary for left-handers, and all her books on individual techniques (generally counted work/white work) have instructions for both left and right handed stitchers.
Just found your channel & loving it. I started back up with slow stitching & really wanted to learn more. Your teaching is wonderfully practical & your personally it delightful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you Sarah !! Excellent, as always. I'm fairly new at slow stitching (I learned it from your first slow stitch video explaining what it is), but I'm seriously addicted. I have discovered that I enjoy using the DMC Perle Cotton #8 !!!
Hi Sarah, I’m new to slow stitching, although I have been sewing since was 14. Loving it! I would like to slow stitch and embroider a Blue Jay, I see them in my yard and find they are beautiful! Please, advice how to go about doing it. Thanks
Sarah I love your videos. I’m really learning my stitches. I was wondering do you use a material stabilizer sometimes. I did a small block with stabilizer but now it’s really hard to embroider. Thx. For your help
** QUESTION ** Every time I see your roll of finished slow stitching, I think how cute that would be as a baby quilt, decorative pillow, or lap blanket. It could be because I come from a family of quilters. Have you ever sewn them together for such a project?? Or has anyone else?

Thank you! Woke up from a bad dream. Relaxing stitching might be just what I need. I will try shortening my thread, I am a habitual long threader. 💖
Watched this video first thing this morning, what a nice way to start my day! Thank you!
Thank you. I knew double seed stitch. I tried triangles last year. Never thought of other variations 😂
I do enjoy the seed stitch! I knew about the double, but not the other variations. So thanks for showing those! 😃❤️

There is a lovely channel called Marion's World where she does embroidery and crafts as somebody is left-handed, would recommend!
@@Dimanche73 thank you, I will look her up.

Thank you Denise, that is the book I have and have found it invaluable.
Thank you, Sarah, for another great video. Take care, Arleen

I was wondering the same thing. What to do with the finished work?
