- I'm on the threshold... So let's make a door! Stitch with me while I share my news. I am at a really significant moment in my life and I want to share some news with you while we make the first part of our May panel.
Today we are going to use simple quilting techniques to make a doorway to a secret garden. You'll need an offcut of quilt batting and a couple of pieces of fabric for your door , and simple needle and thread.
Think about what your doorway needs to look like to reflect your 'threshold' moment. You might also want to think about what your door is going to open up to. What do you hope the next few months will hold and what scene might represent that in your work?

Join me at 2.30pm GMT every Sunday for a restful time of slow stitch, embroidery and textile art. Each month we are going to create a complete piece of art that we will create bit by bit each week.
Feel free to follow my design, use my piece as inspiration, or you could use the same techniques as me to create something totally original.

I’ve been following you almost from the beginning. I’ve not always done the projects, as I was committed to other projects. Like you I live with an auto immune condition and my pain and energy levels dip and rise daily. I’m turning 60 this year and that is truly a threshold! Your journey these last couple of years has been tough for you, so it’s no surprise that you took that leap of faith to make those changes. The excitement in your voice is good to hear, and your courses look amazing. Congratulations on this next phase of life.

Thank you so much for your story I am also going through a change where I turn 50 this year and my kids are all grown, I am also a teacher, but I am unemployed as well due to health limitations and not being able to find work who are willing to work with my disability. I can relate to everything that you’ve gone through And thank you so much for sharing your art. It helps so much to find someone else out there. Bless you. Chronic illness is not talked about nearly enough. It's hard, particularly when it swallows up you career along with it. There is a path for you, I am sure. Thank you for sharing your story and inspiration, and I hope you find your meadow. I love the idea of a door and am going to try and join in for the first time this month. My husband had a serious accident last year and our retirement together is no longer the one we hoped for, but we are on a threshold to a different kind of life together, and it is up to us what we make of it, so this feels like a significant project. I think I might do two doors as we share our way forward together. Good luck with all your ventures
