Came to channel for info on historical weapons, stayed cos Dash is such a nice guy. I'm in the UK Armed Forces, and we do riot training once in a while, good to know a modern helmet can stop most pointy shot/thrown projectiles and melee weapons 😅
Oh (fudge)! That was absolutely fun to watch. It's official, I prefer you with the big sword more than anything else. But please, be gentle to the dummy...you're gonna hurt him! 🤓
Man this was AWESOME!!!! Modern kevlar is impressive, but I bet a few of those impacts on the helmet had enough energy to knock out whoever's wearing it. Hope you didnt damage your weapons too bad! ✌️✌️
Enjoyed the testing and evaluation of this particular piece of modern armor. The addition of the recurve bow has great potential for expansion of your demonstration of different cultures and style of warfare. Looking forward to seeing it's use in the future.👍
@@dashrendar5320 Being an old school recurve shooter, I'm expressly interested in your progress and use of this particular bow design. Though I don't shoot as much these days, due to advancing age and nerve damage in the hands. My 70 pound recurve hangs on the wall now, and my 40 pound has replaced it. But I don't mind. I'm still in the game.😁 And as said before, I really appreciate your dedication to the old ways.👍
@@dashrendar5320 so good mate! It’s not like your content isn’t great already. But that bow from Ghenghiskhan’s time was something else! Really wanna see that in action
Love the new bow mate. Have been doing archery with light recurves alongside my daughter for a while now. How the hell you are that accurate over those distances...hats off man👌👍👊
how much did you have to practice to become that accurate with a bow? ive never shot one before but hitting a helmet from that distance seems hard. also solider "wins" might be a bit generous, even though they didnt penetrate hes got a nasty concussion and whiplash
It’s a lot of repetition to be certain, the new bow, recurve one, I was shooting a little high because they fly in a straighter trajectory. So that was new
I'd really like to see with a modern bow the same tests, thnks u for the video, i always want to see how much good r the moderns armors against the old weapons. Greetings from Argentina
It still amazes me how much damage these historical weapons can cause. Really, you would get the same results from modern weapons. The sound is my favorite part though, literally every time an arrow hits something lol.
Thanks for the reply, having a fangirl moment now! Lol I will have to show my kids. They think you are super cool too, especially my 9 year old gamer son who said, "he looks like a demi god." Lol 😆🏹
Its just a gambeson made out of cloth that is made out of plastic. A lot more simple than this magical thing people depict it as. In 1530 you wouldn't want to wear just gambeson. So why wear just kevilar now? A lot of modern kevilar actually has chainmail over it, and then they wear plate armor over that. Things changing is just a way of things repeating a non changing cycle.
Amazing to see the asiatic bow and the longbow side to side and how much effort they both take to pull with their size difference. Hope you get interested in thumb shooting eventually!
I didn't realize the claymore was after the Asiatic bow until the end. I just thought the impact created a weird buckling of the helmet material. For penetration, speed is king. A 5.56mm weighs considerably less than .45 ACP. But the 5.56mm is traveling a lot faster.
@@dashrendar5320 , yours videos have inspired me to bring back to shot from my traditional bow, to ignore endless routines, to stop mind and just do the things which always was interesting for me. Also, to stop eating lots calories, return back dry body’s form! And hair style is amazing as well! Thanks, man, that you record such a brilliant content, keep going!🦾🔥
We can feel lucky to call bows and weight training our hobbies. These low impact activities just don't have the same degree of random hurts, like when you threw that spear. What are you doing, elbow! Then again, I feel like I tweak my back every time I try to brace a heavy longbow without stringers
I found that for horse bows like that performs best 8-9 gpp arroweight I prefer 8 gpp, if u can make an arrow stiff enough that weight around 1000grain and a smaller diameter shaft it surely will penetrate áll the stuff that u already penetrate with the thicker arrows, only the thick ones were too thick to go in fully❤
@@dashrendar5320 if u have ash shafts maybe u can try to fire harden them, and also the arrowheads. Ím very excited about all the experimentális archeology stuff that ur doing.
Maybe spear throwing is very demanding on the body. Im not really sure if the run up like they do in the olympic sport is indicative of what people would have done in an actual physical situation of the past. Maybe you should get different sized smaller shorter spears just to warm up with before you really go at it.
Ohh i see, that would make because in winter months for better or for worse, you can't really get a "pump" and hold onto it when it's cold out. Maybe like an arm warmer would help tho.
Ты опять бьёшь руками, а не корпусом. Падай вперёд корпусом. Сгибайся в бедрах и добавь силу всего тела, а не только рук. Ты не выжимаешь из двуручного оружия все, что оно может.
One of those weapons was a 155 pound bow. That's 35 times more powerful than the bow I bought online that the website said was 50 pounds. And if you think that math doesn't add up then you have a lot of faith in the honesty of online shopping. And it comes with a bodkin tip. Now that may not be designed to deal with someone in armor but if I was wearing armored I'd think twice before messing with those guys. As I come closer next I would be up against the guys throwing axes. Now I get it, an axe is not designed for dealing with someone in armor, but they have a lot of heft to them and underneath armor they could cause major bruising maybe crack a bone. Might want to avoid getting hit by those while wearing armor. But sure, since I'm wearing armor I guess I'll be fine. As I get closer those spears may not be designed for dealing with armor, but they can leave a nasty dint in my plate, underneath which I have a bruise. If the thrower is skilled it could maybe get in the gaps, into the spaces between, split chainmail, punch through gambeson, sure its not meant for dealing with armor but I would want to be careful. As I come closer finally I am dealing with the guys with claymores. A clunk on the head from that thing may not damage my helmet but the impact could break my neck. Maybe they could thrust with it spiking me in the arm pit. Sure its not meant for dealing with someone in armor but I still don't want to get hit.
Great content. But plz don't hurt yourself. Half the amount of stuff you did up here could have been a full 10 minute video. Just don't want you to over exhort yourself and get hurt

Thanks for that my friend! And yes. In my testing most pointy things do not have a chance against a modern ballistic helmet
