Hello Everyone! This is the start of a roughly 7-part series about the Amish. This was one of the most fascinating shoots I've done to date. And it makes me love the USA so much more. The fact that so many different people, with different backgrounds, and vastly different views on life can live within the same borders. Truth be told it wasn't the easiest footage to get but I'm happy with how this series came out and I hope you will be too. I learned a lot and many of these lessons will come through in this series. For those that don't know, I post every Sunday so this channel will be Amish-focused for the near future. And I'm setting up a bit of a team and just working out the kinks so CC will be uploaded in a day or so. Thanks for coming along! Also, spammers have been hitting my channel so if you receive a message with my profile and a phone number, or someone giving financial advice or trying to sell you something, know that this is not me.
When you met John Raber in Sarasota, I instantly hoped you'd come to Berlin Ohio. Holmes county was a culture shock for me 19 years ago. Once I got here I couldn't leave and go home to WV. I stayed. I raised my children here in a safe and caring community and it helped my autistic son flourish. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
LOVE IT! ❤ Outstanding Peter! I am apparently "English"...yet I am also a "born again Christian", and have been since 1984. So Peter, if I were with you and Josh, I would have asked him... Regarding the Amish who completely cut themselves off from "English", how do they as Christians fulfill "The Great Commission", which is found in *chapter 28 of Matthew's Gospel,* _"And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”_ - Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus taught that we must go out into the world and spread the gospel (there are plenty of other passages as well which declare this command). How can they obey Christ, yet remain cut off from outsiders?
Peter you are so OPEN & A LOVELY SOUL. Thank You too, JOSH!! A man of GOD (believer) is such a dying kind especially in the coming generations. I LOVE ANYONE who keeps FAITH, LOVE, RESPECT & MODESTY, ALIVE. Thank You Gentleman 🤗💕
After my son was born I couldn't quit drinking due to severe post partum depression and psychosis. My son stayed with a Mennonite family for the first few months of his life and they treated me as family. They didn't judge me and they only wanted me to get better and back to taking care of my children. I'm 5 years off the sauce and I'm forever grateful to the Mennonites of Colorado for their help.
@@bradleymiller437 didn't ask for your approval did I? I LOVE my life now and I've quit taking 22 prescriptions the big pharma Douches had me on. Yea living organically and closer to God hadn't done me any good at all. Idiot.
It was so nice to see a man like Josh so clear in his convictions but also so accepting of your opinions. I learnt a lot from this so thanks to you and Josh.
They don’t speak Dutch! I speak Dutch! They speak Deutsch or German so to speak, a dialect of proper German. but the English could not pronounce it and named it Dutch.
@dutchess thats cool! i wouldn't know the difference if i heard it though. (i probably would understand a few words as i speak a jewish language called yiddish which is a little bit similar to German.)
@@DutchessForever The origin of the misnaming is besides (actually behind) the fact that in US English it's now the correct term for what they speak, since it's what's used. It's not like Americans call Swiss German, Swiss Dutch. (Because the Swiss don't either.)
The amish moved in our small town a few years back. The "swartzentruber" type. I work at a outdoors store so got to know a lot of them. Very nice hard working people. They Sell fresh grown produce and have a little saw mill where they build sheds to sell at real low prices with great quality. They always wave and smile when they pass you by. Great presence to have in the community. They give a boost to everyones overall health and morale. Love to see them grow
Do they bathe? smoke? use curse words like the Amish around where I grew up? The beliefs of Mennonites and Amish vary from one community to another. Many would not even be considered Christian.

Love the Amish. In 1972 my community got devastated by flooding (north east PA) and thousands of Amish came up from Lancaster area to help people clean up and rebuild. Will never forget that
They saw an opportunity to gaslight people into believing they aren’t the society hating freaks that they are… this helps them get away with more D V for the years to come.’ If they can get as many people they hate to like them … then they are doing great. MAGA means make Amish great again don’t you know.
Peter…your journalism and professionalism is so far superior and interesting than any national network or channel could ever hope for…fascinating content on the human race!
That’s because media companies have no interest(s) in news and reporting on the people they look down on. They’re activists for their own hegemony (what they call “our democracy”). That’s my reading of it.
Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people by surprise, unexpectantly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death. While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the WW1, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes. Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way. It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......
He has found peace with God through believing the Bible when it says that TRUE peace comes by believing that Jesus Christ died for our sins and gives us forgiveness and salvation. John 3:16 = "For God so loved the world (the entire human race) that He gave His only-begotten Son (Jesus Chrsit) that WHOSOVER (me, you, anybody) believes in Him can have everlasting life". Get a Bible and read the Gospel of John that explains it thoroughly.
@@larrydewein So you believe in a god that has a son that is actually himself, and sent himself to the earth to sacrifice himself to himself to create a loophole in the rules that he created and could have made differently so this wouldnt have been necessary to begin with? Makes perfect sense... 🙄
Another excellent video! I live in an area with a large Amish community. My uncle was recently in an accident while helping some Amish folks. They came to his funeral and made a casket for him. They are a great bunch of people. Misunderstood by many, that’s unfortunate.
I honestly cannot get over the fact that they use a smartphone. Like they can just use a 25$ Nokia that has no internet if you're only gonna use it for calls.
Sorry to hear of your loss but glad to hear how your community (regardless of beliefs and lifestyle) rallied around your family as you dealt with that loss.
I'm a Holmes County Mennonite and I thought Josh did a really good job explaining himself and his people. It was good to see a lot of familiar places near my home here on RUclips. One reminder though. There is a continuum from Swartzentruber Amish all the way to very liberal Mennonites. Josh almost straddles the fence between the two, landing on the Mennonite side, so he is on the fringe (not in a bad way) of being Mennonite. A whole lot of Mennonite people look more like Peter than Josh, A whole lot, if not the majority vote. A good many women do not wear coverings. And most Mennonites consider themselves English. Other than that, he did a excellent job. Most people here get along whether they are Amish, or English. 😊
Yes this video did a really good job showing the Amish around us. I'm from Holmes county as well. I grew up in Fredericksburg and always was around Amish and part of my family was old order to
@@benedictcumberbatch4275 He's not Amish. He is Beachy Amish, which is really Mennonite. His church meets in a church building. Amish have church in homes. Can sound confusing.
Many reservations struggle quite a bit - poverty, addiction, and the like. And yet their people carry on, survive. I think it would be an amazing opportunity and way of giving them a voice!
Extremely educational and could not stop watching. Josh is so informative, friendly and understanding to the outside world. Two open minded adults respectful of individual beliefs. Very refreshing to watch. 10/10.

Josh is a pure soul who has spiritual maturity way beyond his age! Peter thank you for the way you treated him kindly and respectfully! It was very sweet of you both to share a bite of each others pie. What a great video will enjoy watching the rest of them.
How are they to be put on a pedestal? Just like any other religious sect, they’re insular in nature and believe their stock to be superior to others. Which means that they could be pillars of their respective communities. But on the other hand, be heavily prejudice and racist, as a means to uphold their backwards and delusional thinking. Nevertheless, when it comes to business, they’re all about fattening their own pockets. Sounds familiar?
Josh looks like to be in his 30s. I would hope that spiritual maturity would be present in a man in his 30s. LOL. Or are you saying that only really old people can be spiritually mature?
NEVER realized there are so many layers into the Amish communities!! Thank you for this educational and wonderful video… Josh you are a great man GOD bless!
If you cannot pass judgement then you are mute. Even water feels like fire to those without skin, or those with sin for skin instead. If a man says nothing in the midst of sin then he is complicit in the commission of it.
@@Brinta3 the laws were of the old covenant before Jesus shed His blood. The Bible clearly warns us not to judge people but tells us we will know them by their fruit. We are to love the sinner and hate the sin - not to accept certain behavior and separate ourselves from it. He has just left the most legalistic sect of Christianity known to man. I think God has grace as He has all of us. Just my opinion … hey… I am not God and definitely do not know everything.
Linguist and German here with a fun fact. Pennsylvania Dutch is a whole set of high German dialects (meaning they're from the German highlands & Switzerland). These are anglicized versions of different Frankish, Palatinate, and Alemannic dialects (the one in the vid is Alemannic). What he calls "High German" is a transliteration of "Hochdeutsch", but the English designation for it is "Standard German". Germans who know a bit about German dialects can still tell pretty well where an Amish community emigrated from based on what their Dutch sounds like 200 years later.
@michab3697 Fellow German here and your fun fact actually taught me something...I didn't know there was a difference between "Standard German" and "High German" (Standard Deutsch / Hochdeutsch) as from my experience everyone refers to standard germans as high german and I had no idea that there is a definition of high german for being the dialect(s) spoken in the higher (elevation wise) regions down in the south. Very weird that in the lower part of Germany (NI, HH, SH..) we say that we speak high german but in fact speak standard german. Thanks for providing that extra bit of info which led to my enlightening wikipedia search. =)
As a non religious individual I respect people who can have polar oppositive lifestyles and views and still have the utmost respect for each other. Great video . ❤
Well, you don’t know that. This guy never asks any hard questions on these trips. He never asks what the guy thinks of women’s rights or black people, or a gay lifestyle. If he did, you’d likely see a different side of them. While it’s interesting to see how different people live, this guy could never do these trips and really find out if these people respect you like you respect them. This is a “human interest” segment. Edit; I will give him points because he visits predominantly Black and Native American locations too. He just steers clear of politics so that you’ll like the video.

Living in the country, especially Amish roads no one is driving crazy fast, there are no foreign cars, and there are people who ride with horses. If a person is riding a horse with a buggy, they can go but so fast. The respect for their community will keep them safe. Plus, it isn’t a city, so there is gaps of cars & buggies when driving. What will he even drive into. That’s how safe they are, I bet you they rarely ever have accidents because of this. He can do that, us in the English world/cities can’t. My grandfather lives far out in the country in South Carolina, with just farm land around him. You could drive with your eyes closed for probably 5 minutes and you won’t see another person or hit anything-quiet an exaggeration but true. It was noticeable, but normal for me.

I feel like so many of your videos would be wonderful for schools/universities to use. There’s so much benefit learning about the pure, raw history and culture of human beings -not from someone else’s perspective and control! Keep up the amazing work!
They would but you know as well as I do that the schools are to obsessed with teaching "woke ideology" which goes against everything talked about in this video.
Greetings from Switzerland! Just saw two of your videos today, I did not know your channel so far. I liked very much how you approach people and talk to them in a way that they feel welcome to open their hearts and show who they are, their personality, their thinking, their character.
One of the most interesting aspects of Peter's videos is the fact that he accompanies people while they do their daily work. It provides such an organic and natural picture of their life. They don't prepare any special presentation or just sit down for an interview, they just let you be an observer.
@Jacob Mundane , he's Mennonite. They drive black vehicles and are even ok with being on TV and the internet and having phones. There's actually a pretty big difference between being Amish and Mennonite.
@Jacob Mundane , nobody has 0 cares in the world. Amish and Mennonite people have their own problems. I grew up Amish and I left when I was 18. I had plenty of issues when I was Amish. You can't run away from all your problems. I got rid of some of my problems when I left but the rest followed me and now in this culture I have other new problems. Life is full of problems no matter where you live. Just accept that fact and live your best life problems and all 🙂
the happiness and peace they get to enjoy in their community is amazing. They’re not missing out on anything, we are missing out on such a peaceful and free life.
So beautiful, how we all learn from one another. My grandfather is from Lancaster, PA. I am from Southeastern Tennessee. He wasn't Amish, nor Mennonite, but I grew up with a very deeply ingrained respect & understanding for this community and Culture. He also taught me a bit of Pennsylvania Dutch. Lovee this video, Peter, thank you!
Really enjoyed this video! We are also from Holmes County. We’re Mennonite. But live here in Sarasota. Not far from Pinecraft. ☺️ if you ever come back down - let us know!
How cool to see you here Lynette! I love your channel! And Peter..........you have an awesome channel too! I've always been fascinated by the Amish and Mennonite. Thank you for creating this series. I look forward to future episodes.
Love your videos too..Im in Cleveland ohio( innercity actually) but love going to Amish Country ( we english call it that) to get away and buy great food cheeses, smokies, produce, apple butter .
This guy is cool as hell. I like that he doesn't make his life unnecessarily difficult by avoiding all technology, but is still conscientious. He seems to be very clear about what life is about.
Josh is the best guest Peter has travelled with so far. And that's saying something since all his guests are very charismatic and trust worthy (than local average in their respective countries)
I love that. Josh was so open about sharing his relationship with Jesus Christ. He made it very clear that we are not saved by our works but rather by the redeeming work of Christ. He also noted that as a result of belonging to Christ, we have no need to fear. With all that’s going on in the world today, knowing that God is in control and I have no need to fear is so reassuring. Thanks, Josh, for your clear, concise, and relevant explanation of your reason for hope.
@play store games You are right that many individuals who called themselves Christians are not really followers of Christ. Unless a person repents of her sins, accepts the redeeming gift of Jesus Christ, and makes him Lord of her life, she is not a Christian.
I own an optometry practice in a fairly large Amish community. They knew my dad, who was their optometrist for whole families. He did the hard work of getting the Amish community's loyalty because he was a great doctor. I love the Amish community because they pay either cash or checks, so I don't have to pay merchant fees. Love them. But the community doesn't change a lot. They're still coming to the practice even after my dad died.
In this sick violent world it feels the safest friendly town, love it . Thank you Peter for great videos and thanks to the friendly beachy amish young man Josh.
I really appreciate the values of this beachy brother.....He gets happiness, and that sort of happiness that you get from simplicity. Also appreciate Peter for his opportunity to learn through this lad. cheers.
There is certainly bliss in ignorance, yes. They seem quite nice. But that doesn't mean they are right. The loss of education and actual understanding of science, and the world around them, means that their happiness is only skin-deep. Religion can never substitute for understanding and factual knowledge.
@@billpeet1976 they are happy being uninformed i guess.... rest of the world dont matter to them he said exept business... but as a whole as long as they are small it wont be a problem
His joy comes from serving Jesus. He denies himself simple pleasures bc it brings him spiritually closer to God. He's been plenty informed, and just doesn't want it. Trust me, when you have the option of what the world offers vs what God offers, you choose a full heart and simpler life. Don't take my word for it, ask Jesus yourself.
WOW, that was fascinating. I'm from England and went to Minnesota and saw lots of Amish there - not to talk to, just living their lives. So much respect for them.
If only that were true. The rest of the world exists whether you like it or not. You have a duty to understand it and contribute to the world, you can’t just take. Failure to do so may place you and your community at such a position or disadvantage in a changing world you may we wiped out without notice.
In Pennsylvania, I went to a restaurant where the Amish were cooking and it was a breakfast buffet, I still have dreams about it, it truly was the best food I ever had. Great video! Binge-watching your episodes instead of working, maybe I should be Amish!
This is what I love about my home state of Ohio, take a fairly short scenic country drive out of Cleveland and you can go back into time to a simpler place with nice hospitable Amish folks and see the beautiful rolling hills and farms and have a delicious meal and desert.
You romanticize these people but it's a pretty awful community. A lot of abuse, manipulation of women, and pedophilia. Not this wonderful simpler time you speak of.
Yep, even in the south western area, several communities. However, watch out. We did farmers markets for awhile and discovered a few sellers who masqueraded as Mennonite to sell their goods.
As someone who renewed his relationship with Christ two years ago after many decades away and hard lessons learned, I totally get what Josh was saying. The methods in which we may go about living a Godly life may be different but I totally understand it. Very insightful video. Thanks for making it.
I too have in recent years returned to the Christian fold after so long away. Their way of life is not for me, but I can today understand why they choose to live as they do much better than I could when I was young, when the whole thing struck me as repressive farce.
Amish seem like the nicest people with a good community. I think most are looking at slowing things down a bit in this crazy world. Also the self sufficiency aspect. Good work as always peter😎
I found myself smiling thruout this entire video, Peter...this was a magnificent presentation and am looking forward to each of the 7-part series. Josh was incredible. So absolutely open and unaffected. Thank you, Peter.
Really fascinating people. Josh is a very nice guy. Peter doing a great job again in his videos exploring beautiful places, religions and cultures. Fully respect to all.
This is my second time to watch this vid. I must say that Josh is a very decent and very nice person. He seems to be more than willing to take the time and patience to explain the difference of different parts of his culture. I constantly am reminded - no matter how different someone else and their culture may be - we are all really alike and not so differnt. So many different cultures have what we Americans have faded away from - the family structure and commitment to be just that - a family. What all we can learn from these people in this stressed / frustrating times we are now living in. 73YO here and still learning.
This is very interesting! A part of me envy’s their simpler life to be honest (as I type on a smartphone!). Their world is smaller and less hectic without the outside influences I’m sure.
It’s better because the stress in a simple life like this isn’t as complex. In the metropolis, industrial world, our stresses and anxiety can net from so many different things so it’s harder to contend with. That’s why many people who get a taste of traditional life envy Mennonite and Amish communities.
@James Norelli It’s not about how hard the work is, it’s about how simple it is. That’s the point. The anxiety of complex, modern life can and will drive you nuts because there’s so many stupid little things we have to worry about and remember for various reasons. Whereas homesteading (although extremely difficult) is straightforward and has a peace of mind element that you won’t find anywhere else.
Wow I'm impressed. That was one of the best videos you ever made. I was raised a stones throw from Lancaster County, so I am quite familiar with the Amish or Pennsylvania Dutch. Excellent presentation. Saludos from Puebla Mexico.

I watch a number of Mennonite channels featuring women and their family life. They are happy, secure in themselves, their homes are beautifully appointed (they go to thrift stores a lot) and most of all, God first and family second. You've done another fabulous video, Peter. Thanks so much.
I really like their morals, no wonder the Mennonite population is growing they value the smaller things in life and don’t allow politics to enter their life. Love it. I spend lots of time is Lancaster county Pennsylvania (millersville to be exact) where there are lots of Amish and it’s very interesting to learn how other people live.

Good values to you means brothers raping their sisters and passing on terrible birth defects? If you believe in fantasies (the Bible) then you really have no concept of reality. I feel bad for these people who have never had any other experiences than what their crazy parents will let them do.

I would love to see you do a special on how they handle motherhood/childbirth/their birthing centers, etc. When I was in Nursing school in Wayne County, we had a tour of their birthing center and it was amazing, so simplistic and family oriented!
They have a home apathetic doctor, but, anyone can go see this doctor whose educated in it and, they use herbs and, such! I have lived in some rural areas in Indiana, in Cross Plains, Indiana the Amish and Mennonites were my neighbors at one point. They also would also serve food at different community functions and, sell their different products! Like even home spun brooms! But, basically a the home apathetic doctor also does Home Births, if they need to go to the hospital where it’s safer on them and, the baby, their doctor will recommend that as needed!

I don't think it's a simple life at all. They work very hard and some don't even have electricity. It may sound nice but can you imagine having to use an outhouse during a snowstorm in January when it's -10 degrees.
@kartofle123: There are other options than the outhouse, such as chamber pots, if the weather is truly that bad. But it’s nothing our ancestors didn’t survive through, so it wouldn’t kill us either. Some people have indoor composting toilets, and a lot of the out houses I have used are actually pretty nice and have just a little breezeway, with a roof still attaching them to the back of the house.
Excellent video and very informative. It’s a big planet there’s room for everyone. The Amish people are wonderful and very talented. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the series and thank you for making them.
Another great video. My wife and I stayed in the Amish country of Shipshewana Indiana for a couple days on vacation a few years back. Took a tour with an Amish man and had dinner at his home with his family and other tourists. I loved the experience. We felt so safe, free, and unstressed while we were in the area. They are a wonderful people. I would love to live in that area and get away from many of the pressures of society.
This is so well-done. What a respectful and curious conversation. While I, also, identify an non religious, it’s great to see such respect and genuine interest being offered. I love this creator’s outlook & personality. I’m inspired.
This is the most interesting videos I've seen in a while. I love Josh's openness and kindness. I'd be attracted to this lifestyle. The honesty is so lovely in a world driven by dishonesty & hatred. How refreshing to hear him say "we pay taxes because we are required to do so by law". He knows that it would be sinful not to do so. Can't wait for new videos.
This is very accurate for Ft Wayne Indiana Amish. Very rich community like no other; driving for a framing crew and after 5 years came to appreciate their way of doing things. Once they know you, you’re treated like family.
Your friend is very based and has some incredible wisdom for his age, I hope you really listened to him because the hour is late. Great interview and the scenery was beautiful, thank you for this episode.
The beachy Amish are mostly an evangelical branch, that has more in common with mainline Mennonite churches than with the Amish. Josh is still a good host and explained a lot given his background in the area and culture. I'm sure you had few options interviewing and filming the Amish, but I do wish you would continue this series. You will be surprised at the differences within the Amish communities, including traditions and languages. I hope you won't be afraid to explore this more indepth and really get to see the Amish and the variations of the culture. Plus, with settlements in over 25 states and hundreds of rural counties, the Amish and Mennonites really are a significant part of the rural American landscape east of the Mississippi and no documentary about rural America in 2022 would be complete without also mentioning the huge contributions to rural America that these communities have had. Did you know that the Amish make up over a quater of all U.S. dairy farms?
It would benefit the country to have these communties adopt unwanted/deserted babies and bring them up to be civilized honest working people. THEN maybe the country, even the world, would be saved from corruption n violence.
When Hurricane Camille devastated Central Virginia in '69, the Mennonites helped rebuild thousands of homes in dozens of communities. If you drive through Amherst, Nelson, or Albermarle counties, you can see many of these houses from the highway (29).
It is simply questioning technology. Are all technologies good for humans? Would you say the same for Hunter-Gathers in Africa or South America. These people eat organic local food, are embedded in their community, don’t have the harm of social media, aren’t dependent on a vast globe circling empire to provide for their existence

Roman's 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles (MOST modern day Europeans/Caucasians/ etc) be come in. Part of the blindness is that we would not know who the true Father of Jacob(Israel) was and that we would worship false gods of [wood and stone] partially referring to worship of the cross(wood) and the “idol” of christianity the “jesus” that hangs on the cross tends to be made of (stone). Worship not literally meaning to bow down and speaking in gibberish nonsense tongue waving hands up and down, but rather worshiping meaning “To Submit To/Obey”. The speaking in tongue that some Christians do is nonsense, speaking in tongue only refers to the ability of being able to speak in a language or many languages to spread your message across multiple nations. Smh Deuteronomy 28:36 TMH shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone. Deuteronomy 28:64 And TMH shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone. Just as important as "what's his name," is "what is not his name." However, it is 100% certain that his name was not Esus Crios aka “Jesus Christ”, the idol of the Celtics who the Catholics sing at Easter in the Vatican, aka what all surface level “Holy Bible” readers (Commonly identifies as “Christians”) refer to the Anointed One as.
We have been tricked, deceived as a result of the curses of the law (Deut 28-64)...wake up and stop following the lies of the Gentiles that govern this world. True Israel is awakening. I am no historian but I love researching and proving all truth. It was the so-called "Holy" Roman Catholic Church that banned us from reading certain books. Do not trust the Adversary's agents of deceit and destruction. The Catholic Church is not a good moral compass. Catholic meaning Universal. They literally crusaded all over the world, had TMH’s people murdered, burned women alive, and made laws against poor people (peasants) from having translated Bibles and books of education in the past. Who are they to condemn a book for any of us to read? They are certainly in no position to order us and they are most certainly NOT our Creator nor the Savior. Do not trust those who come in sheep's clothing but are rather ravaging wolves. It has been told of us to be as harmless as doves AND as wise as serpents. For one to be wise, You must research and READ, and educate yourself, AND prove ALL TRUTH. The only one to lead you is The Most High. Pray for insight but don't trust when LIARS tell you NOT to read something but approve of what you “Should”! It is good that we pray for you, and I do hope you pray for me as well. However, the decision is ours as to whether or not we fully submit to his will. The Most High wants us to submit to his will through our own decisions. That is why the Messiah says if any man comes to me, let him deny HIMSELF. That is why the word also says to be transformed by the renewing of OUR minds. That’s why it says every man will have to give an account for what he hath done. It is personal accountability and the sooner we accept this, the closer we will become to actually making the decisions that will make us submit fully to his will And for those of you who deny the existence of The Most High or don’t take the ancient scriptures seriously, you need to seriously wake up. Biblical prophecy is literally unfolding right before our eyes. This is not a game. A few notable mentions (Women wearing makeup need to repent and change (Read the testament of reuben) no debate, people who smoke weed (sorcery) need to repent and change no debate, people who eat upon the flesh of animals aka consumption of death… need to repent and change (one of the huge flaws of the Holy Bible), no debate. Read the Essene Humane Gospel of “Jesus Christ” and the Essene Humane Gospel of Peace, and also the Teaching of the Essenes that go hand in hand with them. These are books that came from the Dead Sea Scrolls, written by ancient israelites however translated by men even around these times.) Read Daniel 12 to understand further why books held in the Vatican are slowly being released now in these end times. Everything is going according to prophecy, even they have to move accordingly. This is indeed a narrow path only for those who truly wish to be saved on the day of Judgment. Go and sin no more and put in work for the kingdom. All Praises To The Most High! Visit Ahayah-Truth. Hey Pete, I am going back to watch your older videos and I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for this series! Amazing videos and learning so much about our people, our Brothers and Sisters!!! Thank you very much for bringing us along on your journey!!!!!
I love this. We live close to Holmes county. It's one of our favorite places to visit. I was raised Mennonite and love watching new people learn about our history and culture. Thanks for visiting this beautiful place. ❤️
Thank you for the clarification on this topic. I didn't know how much a difference there is. Josh is doing a great job explaining. Much Respect to the Amish/Mennonite community
Absolutely fascinating. I truly appreciate you showing this world to us. It was great to hear him explain everything about their culture. I’d love to go and hangout for a week with them
Having grown up in Holmes County, it's cool to see the amount of attention a video like this has gotten. Growing up here, you take for granted how peaceful and safe it is to live here. I would love to go back to raise my kids. Its always great going back to visit to see family.
Sooooo interesting. Thank you. I have been studying the Amish for more than 70 of my 81 years, most of which included a yearning to be part of the Amish community. So I am familiar with most of this, but you are hooking it all together much more strongly than what I ever knew, Josh is a great representative for you and for us.
This is a great interview. Josh does a great explanation of what a life with Christ is like. I also love the information provided about Amish and Mennonite.
No TV at home? No social media? They privilege community values over individualistic whims? Gotta say, these dudes are vastly more psychologically advanced than the rest of us.
Very few people who have grown up with modern conveniences could cope with the Amish lifestyle. My dad grew up not Amish but lived that lifestyle because of poverty. I wanted a wood stove so badly. He talked me out of it. One of the things he said was that he had chopped wood in his early life and it was enough chopping for a lifetime. The old outhouse still stood at the homestead because grandpa still liked the outhouse. My mom still baked all of our bread and rolls. I did not have any boughten clothes until high school. We had a huge garden. We raised all our own beef and pork. But when I was 8 years old I helped put up fence, digging post holes by hand. I was driving the tractor before I could reach the pedals. I was also cleaning the pig house in the heat of summer. When the stench was so strong your eyes and nose run like faucets.
as someone who's lineage was amish, grew up down the road from the amish, had homes built by the amish and family worked with them, they have always been kind people to me. they keep to themselves yet provide for communities outside their own. they are the perfect neighbors. *my father was one of 16 in his family. it was quite common to have a dozen or more kids where we were from*
whats interesting is recognizing the roads, yoders and homes and i havent been there for a decade lol hah ive also eaten at that restaurant. their pies were the best lol
I live in Arkansas and there’s a Mennonite community here. They may go to school until the 8th grade, but they’re constantly in the library and reading. I always find myself having stimulating conversation with them and they’re so nice.
Fascinating. I've had so many misconceptions about their community that this video cleared up. I actually found that I agreed with Josh more than I disagree. Looking forward to watching the followup "dinner"....also, that pie looked killer!
It's great to see people trying to understand someone else way of life and world view. Without being judgemental and argumentative. We need more of this in our lives.
I live a couple hours drive from Jamesport MO, which is a lovely Amish community. The pie (and the rest of the food, honestly) is no joke! I love visiting the town to do some shopping. It's very quiet, slow-paced, and always a relaxing day. As someone with social anxiety, I appreciate how kind everyone is, and the fact that while they're very friendly, no one seems to mind that I'm not chatty, or that if I am, I tend to be awkward. Thanks for showing what an amazing community these folks really are!
Recipes lovingly made and passed down for generations among women (and men) who care about feeding well the ones they love. Anywhere you find that- you're sure to find delicious food!!
As someone raised in a family that was half Mennonite, I can say that the ultra slow pace of life in such communities used to drive me a little crazy, especially after I’d worked in the film industry for a few years. These days I would likely have a much greater appreciation for it!
Interesting video! My ancestors were Swiss Mennonites from Ohio and Pennsylvania who immigrated from Switzerland during the early 19th century. My grandmother was the last in my family to speak German. Incidentally, the Pennsylvania Dutch were speakers of German and not the Dutch language. The term "Dutch" was misapplied by Americans as meaning "Deutsch" which means German in the German language.
People from the part of the world that's now known as Germany were called Dutch when they immigrated to the US. The term Dutch was not limited to the Netherlands. It's a common misconception that "Dutch" got confused with "Deutsch."
Thank you to both of you for the clarification. English is not my native language so I was confused with them speaking German/Pensylvanian German and calling it Dutch. Very nice video and very nice people.
This video was fascinating. I thoroughly enjoyed the conversations you both had and I learnt a lot too 😊 You and Josh were very kind, open minded and non judgemental to each other’s way of living which I thought was so lovely! The Amish and Mennonite way of life seems to be very peaceful and simplistic. Josh appears very content, happy and healthy which is what everyone in life is seeking to achieve, right? The modern world is so hectic and far from what we originally were here on earth to do so it is refreshing to see and hear all about Josh’s way of life, away from all of the technology, where family, friends, community, faith and their land and animals are their core values. I can’t wait to watch the next episodes. Thank you Josh for allowing us to have an insight into your world 🙏🏻 😊
I’ve have fallen head first into your videos. I LOVE this. I live in Ohio a couple hours away from Holmes county. This gentleman has taught me A Lot. Wonderful video. I already watched the dinner video too. 😊
We actually have a pretty good amount of Amish and Mennonite people living here in this part of Ontario, Canada. We always buy honey and maple syrup from them and it's sooo good. This one time we were on the road and an older gentleman was selling honey on the side of the road and we stopped to grab some. Shook his hand and his hand felt really leathery/sandpaperish meaning that he worked a lot with his hands. I'll never forget what he said to us. "All you need in this life is your health, family, and a roof over your head." Thank you sir.
Amen I had forgotten about the lg. Population of Amish there! Here in Pennsylvania the Amish have mud sales, they are a huge success, and a lot of fun!
Regarding the Amish who completely cut themselves off from "English", how do they as Christians fulfill "The Great Commission", which is found in *chapter 28 of Matthew's Gospel,*
_"And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”_
- Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus taught that we must go out into the world and spread the gospel (there are plenty of other passages as well which declare this command). How can they obey Christ, yet remain cut off from outsiders?
Thanks for ur hard work! Keep up the good work👍
Peter you are so OPEN & A LOVELY SOUL. Thank You too, JOSH!! A man of GOD (believer) is such a dying kind especially in the coming generations. I LOVE ANYONE who keeps FAITH, LOVE, RESPECT & MODESTY, ALIVE. Thank You Gentleman 🤗💕
No way you're from MTL! I would've never thought. We probably went to same strip club hahaha Love your videos man. I guess I need Jesus in my life.

They don’t speak Dutch! I speak Dutch! They speak Deutsch or German so to speak, a dialect of proper German. but the English could not pronounce it and named it Dutch.

In 1972 my community got devastated by flooding (north east PA) and thousands of Amish came up from Lancaster area to help people clean up and rebuild.
Will never forget that
They saw an opportunity to gaslight people into believing they aren’t the society hating freaks that they are… this helps them get away with more D V for the years to come.’

One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......
what are you an alien?
This Josh fellow actually gave me a couple things to reflect upon in life
He has found a peace in this world that is admirable
He has found peace with God through believing the Bible when it says that TRUE peace comes by believing that Jesus Christ died for our sins and gives us forgiveness and salvation. John 3:16 = "For God so loved the world (the entire human race) that He gave His only-begotten Son (Jesus Chrsit) that WHOSOVER (me, you, anybody) believes in Him can have everlasting life". Get a Bible and read the Gospel of John that explains it thoroughly.

Josh is a sweet spirited Christian man. He is not judgmental but knows how he wants to live his life. I respect that.
I truly respect him and he’s so well spoken too
If you cannot pass judgement then you are mute. Even water feels like fire to those without skin, or those with sin for skin instead. If a man says nothing in the midst of sin then he is complicit in the commission of it.
If he truly follows the laws of the Bible then he must be very judgemental about certain people.
Excuse my ignorance, but isn't standard German based on Prussian German?
@@playlist9980no, it isn't
@@playlist9980why did you write that? They didn't mention any "origin of standard german" or something. Just wondering
One of the most interesting aspects of Peter's videos is the fact that he accompanies people while they do their daily work. It provides such an organic and natural picture of their life.

Smh
Deuteronomy 28:36 TMH shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
Deuteronomy 28:64
And TMH shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
Just as important as "what's his name," is "what is not his name."
However, it is 100% certain that his name was not Esus Crios aka “Jesus Christ”, the idol of the Celtics who the Catholics sing at Easter in the Vatican, aka what all surface level “Holy Bible” readers (Commonly identifies as “Christians”) refer to the Anointed One as.
It is personal accountability and the sooner we accept this, the closer we will become to actually making the decisions that will make us submit fully to his will
And for those of you who deny the existence of The Most High or don’t take the ancient scriptures seriously, you need to seriously wake up.

@James Barker watch out. Jew hatred might cause you a severe indigestion and constipation.
Why do we leave? I miss my country growing up in Indiana.
Josh seems like a wonderful man. I find their culture not only fascinating but admirable. Great video! Look forward to watching other episodes.
Please do some more research before you romanticize this lifestyle. Abuse of all kinds runs through these cultures like you wouldn’t even believe.
Actually Josh is Mennonite. Not the same.
Ohhhhh Ho ho
Very interesting, Josh is a godly man and I enjoyed his interview.
This is a great interview. Josh does a great explanation of what a life with Christ is like. I also love the information provided about Amish and Mennonite.
The older I get, the more I crave this lifestyle. I slowly learn ti despise modern consumerism that’s rotting our mental health
Same. Just watched the most recent video and almost googled “how to be Amish” lol
@therealz360z7not compared to the outside world they live better
No TV at home? No social media? They privilege community values over individualistic whims? Gotta say, these dudes are vastly more psychologically advanced than the rest of us.
so have you converted yet? :) @@wrench8149
*my father was one of 16 in his family. it was quite common to have a dozen or more kids where we were from*
whats interesting is recognizing the roads, yoders and homes and i havent been there for a decade lol
hah ive also eaten at that restaurant. their pies were the best lol
You mean they profit off the outside and dont pay taxes. They are a cult
AMEN!
Love your videos. Feels like meditation for me. Seeing actual people living and passing their life in USA the way no one has ever done. Thank U
I live in Arkansas and there’s a Mennonite community here. They may go to school until the 8th grade, but they’re constantly in the library and reading. I always find myself having stimulating conversation with them and they’re so nice.
Where at?
@@echo_94 small town in Southeast Arkansas called Dumas.
@@ProdigalSonMatt I love the mennonites in Dumas! Those watermelons they have are the best.
@@haileymontgomery3659 yes! They own a produce stand called Newswangers that has the best fruit and vegetables.
@Matthew X thanks, i havent been through there but past it
Fascinating. I've had so many misconceptions about their community that this video cleared up. I actually found that I agreed with Josh more than I disagree. Looking forward to watching the followup "dinner"....also, that pie looked killer!
Absolutely fascinating, Peter!!! Can’t wait for the series to unfold.
The Amish in Missouri are some of it's worst people. The puppy mills, sexual abuse etc
As someone raised in a family that was half Mennonite, I can say that the ultra slow pace of life in such communities used to drive me a little crazy, especially after I’d worked in the film industry for a few years. These days I would likely have a much greater appreciation for it!
@@jeffslote9671 Yes there are some that are this way unfortunately. It’s terrible. 😢
My best friend is from Jamesport, and according to him, the amish in that area are horrible ppl. Beat the horse and dogs and such.
🇨🇦 You must live around Kitchener Waterloo area.
@@sharonleis1365 Yup lol! Kind of by Elmira :D
Yeah I’m from southern Manitoba and there’s Mennonites everywhere
Amen I had forgotten about the lg. Population of Amish there! Here in Pennsylvania the Amish have mud sales, they are a huge success, and a lot of fun!
