- Hello guys! So I went and bought my own Moffett truck mounted forklift! Come along as I do my first delivery with the new (Er, new to me, it is DEFINITELY not new...) forklift. And of course, the truck had to bugger out her own issues too haha.

Thanks so much Matt for playing my bands cover of The Sound of Silence. I am honored by it. You are a unique trucker fellow for sure. Love how you include the good and the bad and keep it real… And laugh at fate .
I wonder how many people think this is a Disturbed song… haha
@@breadmenv Yea probably a lot. Disturbed version is excellent though.
@@breadmenv for 10 years I've tried figuring out the difference between Sounds of Silence and The Sound of Silence.... As much as I love Simon and Garfunkel, David Draiman and the rest of Disturbed did a ridiculously great job making it their own.... David's voice gives me goosebumps when I listen to it
@@jordangraff2254 you’re like the fourth person that I’ve heard say they’ve got goosebumps from listening to that song. As someone who grew up listening to “down with the sickness” I just don’t get it, it’s just a cover of a song to me.
@@breadmenv I spent my teen years listening to Disturbed.... He just gets to display the power in his voice during this song. Gets to use the classic (operatic) training he received growing up...
I have to thank you for teaching me some things that I applied yesterday in a very stressful driving situation. I pull a 43' 5th wheel RV with my GMC 3500HD diesel. I'm about 61' long. I pulled into a busy shopping center parking lot on our vacation and immediately realized it was a bad move. The only way out for me was stopping traffic, a long back-up, then exagerated wide turns using all the lanes. My wife helped stop traffic. You taught me to be patient, not rush, and kindly smile & wave when other drivers give me room to maneuver. By watching your video's I actually turned this stressfull situation to fun! I'm 68 years old, so that's also fun for me watching someone as young as you doing what they love, being good at it, and having fun doing it!! Thanks again Matt!!
Ah very cool!!
Most genuine Canadian trucking content, thanks for another great video.
Only yesterday watched him for the first time. I think he is perhaps THE most legit guy I've ever seen.
SO extraordinary the way he keeps "an even strain".
A good trick I learned for the corner boards is to throw your straps, tighten them down just enough so you still have a bit of slack, then get a long paint roller stick, put the board on the roller and push the corner boards under the straps up to the corner
Just discovered your channel a few weeks ago. I really appreciate how you keep it real, show the good with the bad. Great stuff.
Thanks for showing Canadian trucking. It was interesting to see how to take Moffett up on the trailer.
I drove my truck for a year and everything one the truck was working awesome the moment I purchased the truck I’ve been fighting the same things you have 3 months into owning the truck I had a catastrophic engine failure. I swear this truck a mind of there own good luck with your truck and moffit. Thanks for the videos
Thank you from a old retired truck driver you take me on your trips❤ I miss it as he'll but I can't do it any more but ya thank you gods speed and keep the rubber rolling❤❤😊
That little forklift had the little engine that could!
Every day I wake up, I wonder if you will upload today. I look forward to each one
One of the perks of being older than dirt . Knowing the tunes . Your moffett needs a lot of dialing in
I like to see you working around your truck like that, im in truck school right now and i like to see what is really like to work outside beside the driving , thx for the content
Spent eleven years with Lowes on the flatbed with Moffett forklifts. The three wheel steer models are best thing since sliced bread !
Dude. I’m not even a truck driver and I just subscribed!!! Keep up the good work.
I have that same tool kit and it's saved my butt so many times it's ridiculous lol. That moffett just wants to keep working.
😂😂
Love your attitude Matt, you’re a great guy, thanks mate
I love that song at the end! Good job whomever made it!
Same luck as me, lol. Just about to pull out somewhere, and a 4 wheeler comes and decides to turn around. I think this video really shows exactly what trucking can be like (daily) when you go to new delivery locations, mechanical issues with equipment, etc. Murphy (Murphy's law) seems to be my passenger some days.
You sounded a bit under the weather, but were working through it. Brings back memories of being out on the ROAD. Hope you’re feeling better, and always enjoy your vids.
i really enjoy watching your adventures.
stay safe and have a blessed day, respect from australia
Thanks for a great vid. Loved the sounds of silence with the MOFFETT back and forth. Great show.
You really provided a great content!Thank you for sharing bud ,I notice that you deliver & unload you own freight & do inside delivery wow I hope you get compensated for your extra hard work!.Have a great weekend Sir.
Great video, mate. I have a very similar set up to yours. I run a curtainsider B-train with a Moffett mounted in the same position as yours. I tow it with a 1999 Mercedes Actros doing deliveries in and around Auckland, New Zealand. I like your approach... no nonsense, no fuss, just get the job done. Stay the course, brother.
Matt, u did a great job getting the Moffett to run good.. it was cool seeing how the Moffett load onto ur trailer..
I wish I have the will to live as strong as that fork lift.
I'm in IT and don't do any trucking but really enjoy your videos. Stay safe out there
Good job mate & keep those Wheels rolling 👍👍👍
Good to see you back Brother!!
awesome video matt, a true Canadian trucker, the music in the middle was amazing, I only live 10 mins from ware the load was picked up.
Thank you for the nice comment on the song Aaron. I think Matt’s like the only trucker on RUclips who would take the chance of putting up a cover. Maybe is because he keeps a Strat in the truck you know ! 😂
1:06 fantastic sound listening on subwoofer!
JUST CAUGHT YOUR VIDEOS, THANKS FOR SHARING & WISHING YOU THE VERY BEST WITH YOUR TRUCKING CAREER, CALLTHEMALL!!!! CHEERS & KEEP YOURSELF SAFE!!!! 😉😉🦅🦅
Was just thinkin this mornin when your next videos comin out. Keep up the good work!
Whats a full load of bricks like this gross at?
I thought I was listening to Simon & Garfunkel, it’s one of my favorite songs and done very well!
Nice looking Peterbuilt. Love the color combo.
Another great video there sir! Whenever you were changing the belt I was surprised to see that the idler pulley was still in good shape. One time this happened to me, the idler froze up and lost the ball bearings causing the belt to come off of the alternator. I’ve been told cats are notorious for that. Just a little fyi if you didn’t already know that. 😎🤙🏻
That Moffett sounds just like my king old Ford Explorer hydraulic steering booster. Well heck, to think of it, any Ford steering booster ever... 😁
Just keep on trucking and rocking!
If I remember right, that style of moffett has issues with the fuel shut off. We literally attached a pull cord to temporarily fix the same issue. It's a solenoid that doesn't close a valve, and can also drain your battery if it keeps trying
Oof good to know, yeah the other moffett I know of this year has a bypassed killswitch
That is one stubborn moffett! You better nickname it "Terminator".
3:01 hey there’s my company passing by XPO 😊
Long nose 379 with b train just looks bad ass!!💪💪💪💪💪
Matt, great to see you back on the road. As they say in Smokey and the Bandit " Keep your wheels spinnin' and the beavers grinnin" Have you tried to put Vasilne on the trailer connectors. It really good a repelling moisture.
Dielectric grease isn't that expensive
I had that same problem on my forklift. I had the mechanic add hydraulic fluid and boost the hydraulics. Now I can side shift full weight. Being that it's your lift, you can get that thing dialed in the way you like it.
Hey Matt, above and beyond the call of Duty!! Bravo! It's so great to see a young fella doing well with care and attention, best wishes from an 81 year old, who spent most of his life on wheels from Pan-techs to Bendy Busses, to Double Decker's, Backhoes, Tractors and Tour Busses, all over the world, well, in US, Can, UK, EU, Au, NZ, and now retired in Tasmania :)
Tasmania, eh?? lol..glad you survived that whole journey, cool 👍🙏
I love your show NUMBER ONE truck driver
Hey, sound like your under weather. Hope you get better as well, you doing aa great work getting to everything done from getting the belt places and the load to where its going.
Keep going, you all most done hope you can get rest after.
They should make a kill switch if the machine decides to not turn off. like updated machines.
Enjoying for the past hour as newly to your channel. I was in business for 43 years before I finally retired. My suggestion to you is to drop the Moffett off at a dealership and have them go thru it. You don't have time to play with it and you cannot afford to break down on a job sight in somebody's way, and you can't get it back on your truck. Stress released!
Good video as always!
I can't believe I didn't find your channel sooner! Nice to see a trucker's POV in the GTA. I live just 2 lights west of Highway 50 and pass by these buildings everyday. You may have stopped by my work at some point too 'cause Brampton Brick is one of our customers and I may have helped load/unload your trailer. If you ever stop by Blok-Lok on Highway 27, ask for Daniel. Cheers!
God bless you my friend
Again thanks for another great video take care my friend blessings 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇬🇹
I just picked up a Moffett too. Great little machines. Next time you have the issue of it not shutting off, open the engine compartment lid, and on the back side (towards the rear of the machine) of the engine you’ll see the fuel shut off lever connected to a solenoid. It should read “stop” on it. You can move it to the stop position and hold it there until the engine dies. Solenoid/solenoid wiring is probably messed up. I just shut mine off manually every time
Open the big cover that opens up the whole rear of the machine, about midway up the engine you’ll see the solenoid and fuel valve. If it doesn’t say stop on it, you can always turn the key on and off to see which lever moves. that’s the fuel valve that you would shut off next time
I daily drive a old Cummins Ram and use the manual fuel shut down every time.
I used to deliver for Brampton Brick many moons ago. Some familiar territory watching this video. I know your pain when it comes to an improperly maintained Moffatt. Hopefully you can get all the kinks worked out it soon. lol
Truck is looking sharp with the new decals, seen ya 400nb at hwy 9 today!
Vice grip the hooks on when you're by yourself!
I enjoy your Volga keep going bro
Your Moffett is a demon 😂😂
Hello from Brazil, nice vídeo!!!
Hey I think I just seen you near Enbrum! Keep the vids coming!
One of my biggest dreams in life is to drive a Peterbilt 🤣 I wanna lay that bad boy down
30:10 Man i feel you its just Owner op life never know what come's next
Oh dear - looks like there is a Moffett rebuild video soon!
Always pack spare belts had rocks come off a tire and shred the belt and fluid film helps keep the green meanies away from electrical wires.
Congratulations on the new Moffett!!! your buddy did a bang up job on that song. I’ve always wondered. What’s your name brother?
Matt 🤙
@@callthemall thanks Matt. Have a good weekend.
I guess that’s better then not starting! Lol be safe
Truck ABS light is most likely moisture related. 50% of the Peterbilts where I work throw truck abs lights when it’s nice and wet outside 😂
Damn that Moffett seems like a bit of work, but in saying that at least you can fix it up and know it will be okay! Hopefully the motor is good despite the fact it's probably got sludge everywhere from lack of oil changes, maybe down the line you could clean it up inside of the motor if it's getting choppy or blocked up.
Hi Matt!! Awesome video and best trucking channel on youtube!!.
I used to run a moffet truck for Rona, and Hiab Cranes on Sunset Drive off of Victoria Park in Toronto used to sell and service Moffets if you need any help.
Cheers !!
Rob
nice video but it was the first time seeing a moffett getting loaded up this way. here in europe we put them at the back of the trailer.
That’s some crazy shit the thing wouldn’t shut off. I’m sure at some stupid problem but who knows what
2:17 thats a nice mk8 golf r/ gti. Minty
Matt, come to Australia and tow four!! Not b,s ,trains! I'd love you to have the experience mate. I tow 6 sometimes, with a push motor on my middle trailer! You will do well bro!
Yes please!
I'd love to see how the rails work in depth. And even a link to them. I have never seen that style only on the back of truck.
That's nice . I have trucks and forklift too
Truck self sabotaging itself sheesh
grab the fuel line from the tank to the pump and pinch it off till you fix the key switch
Smart!
Love more of the raw video content .... now that it takes a lot to kill the forklift ittl run forever haha
Moffets were invent in ireland there normally rear mounted on the truck or trailer takes up no trailer space
Have you driven a old school piece of diesel equipment where you have to pull a lever to shut off the engine? I think your forklift is the same, except it has a pull solenoid under the hood that pulls the fuel shutoff for the engine. If it's like my Kubota tractor, this pull solenoid doesn't work sometimes. A little wd 40 on it will help, and believe it or not on mine, if I leave the rpms up a little bit when I turn the key off it works better. You can also get a lawnmower cable and rig it to the fuel shut-off lever on the injection pump and use that to shut it off. It must have a electric fuel lift pump on it, that sounds like the reason it slowly died when you pulled the battery. I bet you have a hard time starting it again after that.
Sounds like you need to do a hardcore restoration of the truck.
Try using "Corrosion X" the red aerosol can on all of your electrical harnesses and connections.
Maybe it wouldn't shut off because of the position of the forks, it might have sensors/limit switches where its got to be 'rested'
That things gotta have a "strangler" on it somewhere to kill the air to the motor.
I understand you now have your own authority, do you work directly for the customer now, or through a broker. Great work, keep it up! And with any equipment, I hope you have good luck.
Mostly through brokers for now
That drumbo place you slept at is right down the street from an old buds place
The Moffett forklifts are a good machine but that one has certainly seen better days. It looks quite old and seems like someone has done some butchery on the wiring.
hey man I'm pretty sure I saw you last week I was on the service road with a blown brake line and you were going Toronto bound on the Qew right before the scale in Lincoln.
Yeah likely! Around 3-4pm Thursday?
I just renewed my moffett cert today 😅
Hey Matt try using motive for your logs
Hopefully everything gets better driv,ah...
These are the kinds of truckers I like to see! Not those new "McDonald's happy meal" truckers, driving automatic wannabe trucks. You're doing an incredible job, and you should be an inspiration for new guys.
I have no issues with automatic trucks.. I just feel they're a sign of a dying industry. The people in charge will Fu#k us over the first chance they get when they don't need us anymore.
Semis with automatic gearboxes, DUMB DOWN the job. Before autos, if you couldn’t shift, you couldn’t drive. It’s a symptom of modern society.
I haul gravel in that same building 😁
Looks like a return to sender kinda deal not? haha! Turning a diesel off should cut off the fuel. Usually some kind of actuator at the fuel pump if it is mechanical injection. Could be something wrong with the power to that actuator?
You should not get the fork stuck we use them here in Ireland we have mud I can tell you, how we keep them moving pull your forks in stick them in the ground and drive them out should push you back, off road they are great don't like how wide they are great machines though
The 53’ van at the lights around 13.23 looked like the right hand door was wide open
at least she's a runner, the most controversial thing would be to happen is for it not to start lol
I am new to the channel, enjoy your videos glad I found it. What is the gauge on the driver’s side mirror bracket? Thanks.
I have intermittent injector issues so it’s to keep an eye on fuel pressure!
@@callthemall Thank you!
Use one of the levers with no revs that will kill it our pull lever at the pump
Monday afternoon 400 south with another load of block
Check out “Sound Of Silence” covers by Disturbed (Live on Conan O’Brian) and Dan Vasc (metal singer, who also does a epic job of Amazing Grace)! Awesome covers!
How does that handle? Is the weight balanced enough with moffet sideways? I've top mounted on the back of single trailer, but we never seen it sideways like this. Is this a custom top mount, or same as the rear loaded rack? I been wanting to do this to our b-train.
29:21 - I occasionally use a Moffett that does that too. I was told to shut it off by straining the hydraulics till it stalls out... Curious to know what causes it.
Exactly what it needed. If he pushed the levers it would have shut rite off.
