In this adaptation of the game, Princess Iron Fan, the Bull King's wife, was forced to drink from the River of Childbirth, and birthed the Red Boy by the Heavenly Court, The Bull detested the child, but afraid of the Heavenly Court, so he bitterly shallowed that shame, and did nothing about it, while his son does love him deeply, that is his second mistake. The Bull then made yet another wrong choice when he decided to stand against Wukong on his pilgrimage. Wukong needed his wife's fan to go forward, which she'd already agreed to lend it, but his son Red Boy didn't want that and opposed, and due to the Bull indecisiveness, his wife was wounded, his concubine was killed, his son was taken away and he himself were seriously beaten. That was when Wukong told him that the likes of monster like them have no peace unless they serve the right. The Bull's next mistake was challenging the Heaven in his rage, leading Nezha and his father to subdue him and haul him back to Heaven for punishment. The latest mistake, according to Wukong, is to side with Heaven and Erlang to kill Wukong at the beginning of the game. Wukong stated that no matter how many things they do to curry favor with Heaven, no matter how hard they serve the right, the Court would always consider Yaoguai criminals, and will only grand them peace in death. The Bull King is equal to Wukong in term of spells and might, but in the end like Wukong, he was also ruined by the Court.

Wukong might have a slight edge but the bull demon king is the only other that can proclaim themselves as a Great Sage, along the lines of equal or besting heaven itself. Also wukong in the novel did ask for help after fighting the bull to a draw. Hes called the mighty bull for a reason😅

According to what I read, The two-headed pig relic that was kept by The Bull King symbolizes indecisiveness and stubbornness. One head is the male pig the other head is female pig.
So, for all those confused by the end animation of 5th chapter, here is the explanation. Everything in the animation happened, it's just that the events shown are not linear. Hundreds of years back, before the journey to the West, Wokong and the Bull became sworn brothers, and together they rebelled against heaven, which is the mid part of the animation where the Bull and Wukong fought side by side against the celestial army. That rebellion was also the first time Wukong fought Erlong (the three-eyes dude from the beginning of the game). They lost that fight and Wukong was captured and eventually imprisoned under the five-finger mountain for 500 years. Then the journey to the West took place, during that journey, Wukong and his gang ran into the Bull again. Wukong and his gang were blocked by this fire mountain and needed to borrow the Plantain Fan from the Bull's wife to quell the flame, but lots of shit happened and they made the Bull into an enemy (Bajie even killed his mistress). The Bull was so powerful that Wukong had to call for help from the celestial court to subdue him (he was defeated not killed), this was shown at the part when Wukong and Bajie were talking down to the Bull. Then the journey to the West concluded, and time forward to the beginning of this game. Wukong fought against Heaven again, this time, the Bull and the four bosses from previous chapters joined Heaven's force to defeat Wukong. Hence 5 of Wukong's 6 senses were given to them as rewards, this is the part at the beginning of the anime. When the Bull held Wukong in his arms, he started to reminisce the past. They didn't show Wukong fought the 5 of them in the intro, I guess more combat went on after Erlong thrust Wukong into the mountain.

The second time he fought is at the start of Black Myth Wukong, this time he got ganked by everyone else. That's round 2 though it's part of a Just-as-Planned thing with Erlang to get the circlet off.

trying to portray the tragic life of Bull King,the animation disrupts the story timeline, which will be confusing for those who are not familiar with it, The Bull King is a victim of the struggle between Taoism and Buddhism. In this war, the Bull King was Wukong's brother at first battle. but during Wukong's mission to the west, he became a Taoist thug to fight to he brother Wukong, and he killed Wukong with the heavenly soldiers and got Wukong's relics as a reward at the begining of this game.
the Bull King did the wrong things at the wrong time and place from beginning to end. even if he did nothing, he was still wrong. the Taoist gods arrenge his wife , arrenge his son to preserve the seeds of hatred of the Yaksha. even his only true love the fox was killed, he can do nothing, as he said: I am afraid of fighting, afraid of my wife, and afraid of my son. finally he doesn't know what action is wrong and right, even when he was kidnapped by his son ,he became the one of nothing. poor Bull king.
Still ironic that even after Wukongs "death", Bull King still didnt head those lessons and made yet another mistake; keeping the relic. He didnt abuse it, but he didnt abandon it like Wukong warned him to either, ending up with the death of his stubborn son. He is literally the King of not learning his lessons.
i think wukong used his last power to save bull king and give ultimate middle finger to heavenly court by giving glimpse to the bull king's future. "never made the right choice" and "now take good care of your wife and children", and if you keep fighting you will be dead (nezha scene beheaded bull king). "steer clear of my remains" , wukong telling the bull king to let go,to forget him and stay alive and the bull king hugs him.

Think of it as the heaven can hear their conversation at all times, so Wukong and Bajie had to talk down on the Bull King. He doesn’t have a choice. The court gives it to Bull King and He MUST take the body. The court uses Guai as trials of suffering to obtain merits. That’s exactly why WuKong told him to stay clear of it. Bull king did indeed listened, he did not dare to consume it to get power, and planned to relinquish it as soon as the court wants it again. In the DLC I’m pretty sure we’re gonna raid Jade Palace or smthn. I’m sure Nezha (the fire kid who cut Bull King) is gonna show up. So I thought of a spirit for him. Since he’s best known for his ribbons and sword I was thinking how to incorporate both. How about before you actually use the spirit attack you have three focus like charges. Each charge places a ribbon. So kind of like How you use a vessel you can place a ribbon. Placing a ribbon costs a focus point so if you don’t have any focus you can’t place a ribbon. Then once all ribbons r placed the ability is activated. The ribbons spring out of the ground and detain the boss (like immobilize) and you cut them using ur flaming sword.
For guys who is still confused about the explanation for chapter five, I know it's still struggling to figuring out everything. Let me sorting the events on cutscene in time order: 1 bullking and wukong fight against celetial court (happened before journey to the west, also the first wrong choice made by bullking) 2 bullking's wife talks to him about the birth of Red boy(should be slightly before journey to the west, depending on the real age of red boy,but it doesnt matter) 3.Wukong joins journey to the west. When they meet Redboy, wukong seeks for help from guanyin. Guanyin subdue Redboy and make him her disciple.(matching wukong's line"you kid, I have given away) 4.Wukong and his team reach The coutry of female. Tang monk and Bajie drink from the river of childbearing and be pregnant. Wukong obtain the spring water for abortion(which is legal in China lol) by beating bullking's brother.(matching his line"your brother, ive disciplined"） 5.Wukong's team reach the flaming mountain and want to borrow the fan to go across. Bullking refused and fight against wukong and celetial court. He failed and subdued. The scene where Rakshasa gives up the fans, wukong puts staff on his neck, bullking becomes a bull and be decapitated all belong to the event.(His second wrong choice) 6.Redboy escapes from Guanyin and return to flaming mountain, which is not shown in the cutscene.(should be slightly after journey to the west） 7.Bullking fights against wukong with celetial court, including black bear, yellow brow, erlang etc, and gains wukong's relic: body. This event is shown in the beginning and ending of the cutscene.(His third wrong choice) 8.Redboy call his father lapdog. He knows the truth of his birth.(after wukong is dead and bullking gets the relic) Regarding the facts about bullking family. They are all correct. Bullking and Rakshasa live separately. He is happy with the concubine fox guai who is pretty and rich. Bajie also kill the fox in both game and original story during the flaming mountain event. Regarding the interpretation of the relic, bullking's experience is just like this two-head pig. His whole life is in such two-sided dillema. He has to choose between brother and family. In the first time he chooses brother, in the last two he chooses family. But none of them has good end. He loses his best friends and family is also broken, making it so tragic.(Please keep in mind that in original story, only event 3-5 is correct. The rest are only in the game!!!)

WuKong planned this all along to be free of gods control, which is why he killed himself to remove the crown and let the destined ones / his clones to reclaim his relics / remains. The destined one player plays managed to succeed and in the secret ending becomes WuKong after getting the last piece of his memory / mind. So WuKong wins at the end and be free of the crown. Which he told erlang Shen “ watch me rip it off” in the secret ending anime.
When wu kong dies ! He splits into seven parts ! 5 as relics ! He warns the cow not to hold them cos the destined one will come and collect them . The bull was holding on a relic and you saw what happened to his whole kingdom . By the time we arrived his kingdom is already falling apart.

I am confused, that scene from 1:00 where the injured Bull walks to catch Wukong's dying body, which part of the timeline was it from? Its from the beginning prologue of game? But wasnt it Erlang who 'soloed' Wukong? Bull King wasnt there.
It is the beginning prologue, there's two assumptions, one is those bosses waited on the ground, after erlong thrust wukong to the mountain they keep fighting for a bit. The other is the prologue is lying because it was story told by the old monkey, the bull king's memory is truly what happened.

Yes, the beginning of this animation shows how prologue actually ended. But there is chapter 6 animation where it is shown that Erling talked with Wukong, and their fight didn't end with them falling on the mountain. But we newer saw battle of gods and yaoguai (including Bull king) against Wukong, we saw only beginning and ending of that fight.
They are involved in this battle between the heaven and the spiritual mountain. They will fight to the death. As long as you are alive, there will be no peace. The Bull Demon King is the hell of this struggle, just like Senator Peter Russo in House of Cards. It is doomed from the beginning of the story. When the ending came to an end, Wukong tried to create a chance for him to escape, but failed.
(I may be wrong) but I believe in this version of Chinese mythology there are different types of immortality. Wukong ripped his name out of the book of life so he could not die from old age. I think he did other things to say not die by poison or by blade. I think in this case the sheer amount of gods , armies cuts etc overwhelmed him by sheer force.
he is at the point where nothing can kill him, the fact is that The Victorious Fighting Buddha should never be defeated even the Buddha himself could not defeated him. The contradictions happens where he is defeated in a duel and die is because he let himself be cut down to reincarnate and break out of that Golden Ring. I believe what we saw here at the end, was Wukong entering reincarnation. It’s the only way he can break free of both heavens. I believe we as The Destined Ones, after awakening all 6 relics, and achieving the secret ending, are now The Great Sage himself, reincarnated through The Destined One. It was the only way for Wukong to break free from the cycle of receiving the headband. Erlang was holding the mind relic in his third eye. After beating him, we have ALL of what we need to allow the rebirth of The Great Sage. That’s why the next DLC has been rumored to be a Wukong DLC, because he is back. It’s been ~1,000 years since the Journey To The West, and ~500 years since he was placed back under the mountain. Wukong’s story really likes the millennia and half a millennia timelines.
Erlang wasn't holding mind relic, the destined one is the mind, when u beat erlang he will give u wukongs memory he was holding in his 3rd eye, that's why when u regain ur memory u will not get headband at the end, if u don't get ur memory u will get headband which is bad ending

Wukong actually already can brake his head seal free when fight with Erlangshen for the last time, but why still lose the battle ?Too know this we should read the novel, watch the movie and understand Buddhism a little 1. A Buddha never lie to free. Wukong head seal, because to become a Buddha need a very serious3 practice and not lying is one of it basic. That is why Buddha is higher then Gods in Buddhism point of view. Gods still could die althought they have a very3 long age, also they still seek heavenly pleasure. A Buddha already egoless, awake, not self centered, always think about others happiness. This explain why Wukong choose Buddhahood then his love the 4th sister of the spider (althought bcome a Buddha cannot be appointed like that of course😂, but come from inside). 2. Reason no 1 could explain that this whole black myth story is just a Drama with Erlangshen and Bajie help (this explain why explain Erlang call him brother in the true ending) because Wukong was Erlangshen Good FRIEND (wukong ever help erlangshen free his mother from the heaven prison also friend from rivality ). The culprit in this black myth is the heavenly court, still want to take revenge to what Wukong did, force him back to heaven. And for a Buddha like Wukong (this black myth story happen after return from India) the best solution is to sacrifice himself, mortal body is not important anymore for him, he just want to avoid this endless war which could sacrifice many lifes, his kins, the gods and also free his friend Erlangshen from this difficult task, but still he want to left his legacy. The Bull King was wretched because all of the choices he made was a mistake, and when didn't, they too were disastrous.
He sided with Wukong to fight the Celestial Court the 1st time, which brought the Heaven's Wrath upon him and his family, that is the 1st mistake.
In this adaptation of the game, Princess Iron Fan, the Bull King's wife, was forced to drink from the River of Childbirth, and birthed the Red Boy by the Heavenly Court, The Bull detested the child, but afraid of the Heavenly Court, so he bitterly shallowed that shame, and did nothing about it, while his son does love him deeply, that is his second mistake.
The Bull then made yet another wrong choice when he decided to stand against Wukong on his pilgrimage. Wukong needed his wife's fan to go forward, which she'd already agreed to lend it, but his son Red Boy didn't want that and opposed, and due to the Bull indecisiveness, his wife was wounded, his concubine was killed, his son was taken away and he himself were seriously beaten. That was when Wukong told him that the likes of monster like them have no peace unless they serve the right.
The Bull's next mistake was challenging the Heaven in his rage, leading Nezha and his father to subdue him and haul him back to Heaven for punishment.
The latest mistake, according to Wukong, is to side with Heaven and Erlang to kill Wukong at the beginning of the game. Wukong stated that no matter how many things they do to curry favor with Heaven, no matter how hard they serve the right, the Court would always consider Yaoguai criminals, and will only grand them peace in death.
The Bull King is equal to Wukong in term of spells and might, but in the end like Wukong, he was also ruined by the Court.

So, for all those confused by the end animation of 5th chapter, here is the explanation. Everything in the animation happened, it's just that the events shown are not linear. Hundreds of years back, before the journey to the West, Wokong and the Bull became sworn brothers, and together they rebelled against heaven, which is the mid part of the animation where the Bull and Wukong fought side by side against the celestial army. That rebellion was also the first time Wukong fought Erlong (the three-eyes dude from the beginning of the game). They lost that fight and Wukong was captured and eventually imprisoned under the five-finger mountain for 500 years. Then the journey to the West took place, during that journey, Wukong and his gang ran into the Bull again. Wukong and his gang were blocked by this fire mountain and needed to borrow the Plantain Fan from the Bull's wife to quell the flame, but lots of shit happened and they made the Bull into an enemy (Bajie even killed his mistress). The Bull was so powerful that Wukong had to call for help from the celestial court to subdue him (he was defeated not killed), this was shown at the part when Wukong and Bajie were talking down to the Bull. Then the journey to the West concluded, and time forward to the beginning of this game. Wukong fought against Heaven again, this time, the Bull and the four bosses from previous chapters joined Heaven's force to defeat Wukong. Hence 5 of Wukong's 6 senses were given to them as rewards, this is the part at the beginning of the anime. When the Bull held Wukong in his arms, he started to reminisce the past. They didn't show Wukong fought the 5 of them in the intro, I guess more combat went on after Erlong thrust Wukong into the mountain.

The Bull King is a victim of the struggle between Taoism and Buddhism. In this war, the Bull King was Wukong's brother at first battle. but during Wukong's mission to the west, he became a Taoist thug to fight to he brother Wukong, and he killed Wukong with the heavenly soldiers and got Wukong's relics as a reward at the begining of this game.
the Bull King did the wrong things at the wrong time and place from beginning to end. even if he did nothing, he was still wrong. the Taoist gods arrenge his wife , arrenge his son to preserve the seeds of hatred of the Yaksha. even his only true love the fox was killed, he can do nothing, as he said: I am afraid of fighting, afraid of my wife, and afraid of my son. finally he doesn't know what action is wrong and right, even when he was kidnapped by his son ,he became the one of nothing.

Still ironic that even after Wukongs "death", Bull King still didnt head those lessons and made yet another mistake; keeping the relic. He didnt abuse it, but he didnt abandon it like Wukong warned him to either, ending up with the death of his stubborn son. He is literally the King of not learning his lessons.

Think of it as the heaven can hear their conversation at all times, so Wukong and Bajie had to talk down on the Bull King. At the same time, Bajie is hinting to the Bull that he killed the fox concubine but spared his daughter (if the Heaven sent others to do it, they would’ve killed the Bull’s daughter too).

He doesn’t have a choice. The court gives it to Bull King and He MUST take the body. The court uses Guai as trials of suffering to obtain merits. That’s exactly why WuKong told him to stay clear of it. Bull king did indeed listened, he did not dare to consume it to get power, and planned to relinquish it as soon as the court wants it again. However, the court requires merit for the destined one, so….. the court manipulated his son to steal and take it and become an obstacle for the destined one. The entire trial for the destined one was planned from the start. Everything was planned.

In the DLC I’m pretty sure we’re gonna raid Jade Palace or smthn. I’m sure Nezha (the fire kid who cut Bull King) is gonna show up. So I thought of a spirit for him. Since he’s best known for his ribbons and sword I was thinking how to incorporate both. How about before you actually use the spirit attack you have three focus like charges. Each charge places a ribbon. So kind of like How you use a vessel you can place a ribbon. Placing a ribbon costs a focus point so if you don’t have any focus you can’t place a ribbon. Then once all ribbons r placed the ability is activated. The ribbons spring out of the ground and detain the boss (like immobilize) and you cut them using ur flaming sword.

For guys who is still confused about the explanation for chapter five, I know it's still struggling to figuring out everything. Let me sorting the events on cutscene in time order:
1 bullking and wukong fight against celetial court (happened before journey to the west, also the first wrong choice made by bullking)
2 bullking's wife talks to him about the birth of Red boy(should be slightly before journey to the west, depending on the real age of red boy,but it doesnt matter)
3.Wukong joins journey to the west. When they meet Redboy, wukong seeks for help from guanyin. Guanyin subdue Redboy and make him her disciple.(matching wukong's line"you kid, I have given away)
4.Wukong and his team reach The coutry of female. Tang monk and Bajie drink from the river of childbearing and be pregnant. Wukong obtain the spring water for abortion(which is legal in China lol) by beating bullking's brother.(matching his line"your brother, ive disciplined"）
5.Wukong's team reach the flaming mountain and want to borrow the fan to go across. Bullking refused and fight against wukong and celetial court. He failed and subdued. The scene where Rakshasa gives up the fans, wukong puts staff on his neck, bullking becomes a bull and be decapitated all belong to the event.(His second wrong choice)
6.Redboy escapes from Guanyin and return to flaming mountain, which is not shown in the cutscene.(should be slightly after journey to the west）
7.Bullking fights against wukong with celetial court, including black bear, yellow brow, erlang etc, and gains wukong's relic: body. This event is shown in the beginning and ending of the cutscene.(His third wrong choice)
8.Redboy call his father lapdog. He knows the truth of his birth.(after wukong is dead and bullking gets the relic)
Regarding the facts about bullking family. They are all correct. Bullking and Rakshasa live separately. He is happy with the concubine fox guai who is pretty and rich. Bajie also kill the fox in both game and original story during the flaming mountain event.
Regarding the interpretation of the relic, bullking's experience is just like this two-head pig. His whole life is in such two-sided dillema. He has to choose between brother and family. In the first time he chooses brother, in the last two he chooses family. But none of them has good end. He loses his best friends and family is also broken, making it so tragic.(Please keep in mind that in original story, only event 3-5 is correct. The rest are only in the game!!!)

so FIRST fight been allies resulted in 500years imprisonment of Wukong into the stone then being saved by JTTW master with the headband controlling his power - SECOND fight been enemies resulted in shattering of Wukong into 6 relics and Erlang gave the body to the bull and other 4 to the fours bosses, kept the 6th to himself - THIRD, destined one (us) collected the relics and saved Wukong soul, reincarnated as him without the golden band! Interesting story telling indeed

What did wukong mean when he said “steer clear of my remains”?
WuKong planned this all along to be free of gods control, which is why he killed himself to remove the crown and let the destined ones / his clones to reclaim his relics / remains. The destined one player plays managed to succeed and in the secret ending becomes WuKong after getting the last piece of his memory / mind. So WuKong wins at the end and be free of the crown. Which he told erlang Shen “ watch me rip it off” in the secret ending anime.
When wu kong dies ! He splits into seven parts ! 5 as relics ! He warns the cow not to hold them cos the destined one will come and collect them . The bull was holding on a relic and you saw what happened to his whole kingdom . By the time we arrived his kingdom is already falling apart.

The Bull willingly made his last mistakes like he always has done which lead to his only son death and the fall of his Kingdom, now he was nothing more than an old cowardly Bull at his death door.

I am confused, that scene from 1:00 where the injured Bull walks to catch Wukong's dying body, which part of the timeline was it from? Its from the beginning prologue of game? But wasnt it Erlang who 'soloed' Wukong? Bull King wasnt there.
It is the beginning prologue, there's two assumptions, one is those bosses waited on the ground, after erlong thrust wukong to the mountain they keep fighting for a bit. The other is the prologue is lying because it was story told by the old monkey, the bull king's memory is truly what happened.

Is this after the Wukong battle with Erling in the beginning of the game when he is defeated by him?
Yes, the beginning of this animation shows how prologue actually ended. But there is chapter 6 animation where it is shown that Erling talked with Wukong, and their fight didn't end with them falling on the mountain. But we newer saw battle of gods and yaoguai (including Bull king) against Wukong, we saw only beginning and ending of that fight.
The wukong who die here in the bull arms was bad Wukong, good Wukong killed him.

Can someone explain how could wukong die at the end of the cutscene. Wasnt he supposed to be immortal?
(I may be wrong) but I believe in this version of Chinese mythology there are different types of immortality. Wukong ripped his name out of the book of life so he could not die from old age. I think he did other things to say not die by poison or by blade. I think in this case the sheer amount of gods , armies cuts etc overwhelmed him by sheer force.
he is at the point where nothing can kill him, the fact is that The Victorious Fighting Buddha should never be defeated even the Buddha himself could not defeated him. The contradictions happens where he is defeated in a duel and die is because he let himself be cut down to reincarnate and break out of that Golden Ring. TLDR: Monkee can only die when he want to die because Monkee is Him.

I believe what we saw here at the end, was Wukong entering reincarnation. It’s the only way he can break free of both heavens. I believe we as The Destined Ones, after awakening all 6 relics, and achieving the secret ending, are now The Great Sage himself, reincarnated through The Destined One. It was the only way for Wukong to break free from the cycle of receiving the headband. Erlang was holding the mind relic in his third eye. After beating him, we have ALL of what we need to allow the rebirth of The Great Sage. That’s why the next DLC has been rumored to be a Wukong DLC, because he is back. It’s been ~1,000 years since the Journey To The West, and ~500 years since he was placed back under the mountain. Wukong’s story really likes the millennia and half a millennia timelines.
Erlang wasn't holding mind relic, the destined one is the mind, when u beat erlang he will give u wukongs memory he was holding in his 3rd eye, that's why when u regain ur memory u will not get headband at the end, if u don't get ur memory u will get headband which is bad ending
Let me share my understanding about this BMW. Wukong actually already can brake his head seal free when fight with Erlangshen for the last time, but why still lose the battle ?Too know this we should read the novel, watch the movie and understand Buddhism a little
1. A Buddha never lie to free. Wukong head seal, because to become a Buddha need a very serious3 practice and not lying is one of it basic. That is why Buddha is higher then Gods in Buddhism point of view. Gods still could die althought they have a very3 long age, also they still seek heavenly pleasure. A Buddha already egoless, awake, not self centered, always think about others happiness. This explain why Wukong choose Buddhahood then his love the 4th sister of the spider (althought bcome a Buddha cannot be appointed like that of course😂, but come from inside).
2. Reason no 1 could explain that this whole black myth story is just a Drama with Erlangshen and Bajie help (this explain why explain Erlang call him brother in the true ending) because Wukong was Erlangshen Good FRIEND (wukong ever help erlangshen free his mother from the heaven prison also friend from rivality ). The culprit in this black myth is the heavenly court, still want to take revenge to what Wukong did, force him back to heaven. And for a Buddha like Wukong (this black myth story happen after return from India) the best solution is to sacrifice himself, mortal body is not important anymore for him, he just want to avoid this endless war which could sacrifice many lifes, his kins, the gods and also free his friend Erlangshen from this difficult task, but still he want to left his legacy.
