Holy shit I just realized why they put this animation on true ending path! Because the Destined One has successfully attained Wukong's mind, he also gained Wukong's memory. That's why the ending animation is a backward recap of Wukong's life journey! This is so GENIUS, dev!!
Except the last part, the last one is the destined one now wukong once again, sure he is no longer immortal but who's going to stop him now that he's free from the god's control
Kinda sad that for Indonesia, we have a rap song replacing the actual theme of the journey to the west so I can't relate much to the song. But good thing is 2000s 90s knows journey to the west. But our opening is still awesome in it's own way.
the music part made this masterpiece, that's opening music of "The Journey to the West" TV show version 1986, because most Asian kids born in late 80s and 90s have watched it
We watched re-runs here in Ghana. Many 30 year olds now can still remember the beatings they caught from skipping school and church just to watch that show😂
Damn the last scene Wukong knows his destiny when he passes through the falls. Wukong is fearless and unstoppable, he knew all his friends were still with him just like the good old days. 😢
@@kiratwo4u no bro, Wukong was physically dead during this second time battle the heaven…. But his spirit planted over the world, waiting for someone find them and become Wukong, this game basically tells people that for those who would fight destiny , never give up, they are Wukong , everyone can be Wukong
The last scene when Wukong put down the cup, once again decided to be himself, even though most of his friends and mates were gone and died, he still never fear, never back off, fight against the ugly world for freedom. So he walked out the fall to challenge heaven army alone , for the last time. ( This is also the beginning of the game DLC) .
absolutely wrong - this is after wukong has been rid of the golden circlet on his head therefore he has free will and not under heavens control. not any of the nonsense about not fearing and not backing off or deciding to be himsel
@@HLmilkcarton you are wrong bro, the last scene he put down the cup, it’s the second time he fought heaven army, and this time no one with him because his brothers all dead. He walk out the fall and fight alone, it’s also the beginning of the game. Please go read Journey to the west and go play the game before you making a comment ….
I cry almost every time i watch this. I may not be Chinese but as an Asian, i truly appreciate it when culture and stories as old as age survive even in todays modern setting. And it looks so beautiful
I'm canadian and I have always been a fan of the mythology of Norse and Greek and I knew some of Chinese so to experience this was such an amazing experience like I cried for tears of joy once I beat this game 1 because it was a master piece and two it's history behind it
the sigments are in reverse , this animation is recounting back his story. because memory and desire is the last/ 6th relic that defines him . which also smacks against the buddha teaching of removing mortal desires and letting go of memories/attachments. so the game goes full circle and tells the player it is from your expression not the labels and titles (heavenly courts and the buddhas were just as sinister) scores must be settled , checks and balances.
Westerns might find this is a “cool” epic theme song. But for us Asian (I’m Vietnamese), it’s purely nostalgia, goosebumps from the second we hear the music from our childhood, from the characters and the journeys we literally watched hundreds of times over and over again. A pure, timeless masterpiece
If you dont mind telling me what exactly are you referring to? A cartoon, anime, books, manga, graphic novels, folklore tales, etc? After playing this game I want learn a bit more about the lore that inspired it.
I feel sorry for any western players who can't know any story "The Journey to the West" that becomes memory of Asia kids in 80s 90s maybe now. No more channel, movie, or tv shows to see without Wukong and his partner. The music is remixed so good, so classic..
God, when the 2011 live action journey to the west was aired in my country, i'd go home from school and the first thing i watched was that show. I became engrossed and seek out other versions
The western care about their own agenda and blame the game for not following their preference. Just like that Journo who reject the Monkey King supremacy.
@@L-Man-Gaming Yes, basically all Wukong's kindred were killed. The brothers were either dead or had bad relations. He faced Erlang Shen alone. This is what happened when he just came back from the experience, at least that's what I personally think.
This scene made me, a full grown ass man tear up, the fact that he fought on and on to never be caged. To have his freedom and peace, no matter what person or god tried to control him or cage him. He is the embodiment to keep moving ahead and facing all adversities, even though it hurts and burns you, keep facing forward even if it takes a hundred years. The will and power you have, will and should never be stopped, never give up your freedom. Akira Toriyama, creator of DBZ, likely saw this amazing tale and chose to follow that same premise, strive for higher and not fear, but also be humble and value those who stood by you, to have and encourage others an immortal will.

@@HoangAnNguyen-hm2cr ahh right ok, thanks a lot. I was thinking about the spider demons and scorpion demon but it didn't make sense for both, appreciate it.
Ah yes, the White Bone Demon (白骨精). A notorious fiend that caused the rift between WuKong and his Master. I remember that story arc where Sanzou banishing the Monkey King despite the Monkey beat the White Bone Demon three times
I’m not Asian, and I haven’t watched the 1986 Journey to the West show. I don’t think I need to, in order to understand what you all must feel. I must admit, I only know the story of Journey to the West, and even then, I don’t know EVERY detail. However, having watched this entire game, man… this scene, the music, it gave me massive goosebumps. I can only imagine what you all must feel growing up with Sun Wukong and then experiencing this.
Don't mind the slight gatekeeping around here. They're just really emotional because the animation is really well designed. It's perfect narrative-wise and actually succinctly gave us a summary of the entire Journey to the West while also reminding us that the Destined One has inherited Wukong's spirit.
@@damiester1 Reincarnation has always stumped me. It seems to me that the Destined One didn’t just “inherit” Wukong’s spirit and mind, he IS Wukong, he just needed to remember. The only difference between him and the first Wukong is different bodies, but the body doesn’t make the person, the mind does, and the Destined One is the 6th relic, the mind. For all intents and purposes, whether he remembered or not, he IS Wukong. I mean the whole point of the scene of the game is so that Wukong would lose his current body(and therefore the crown that limited his power), and gain a new one. And yet… throughout the game, even after they learn he’s the mind of Wukong, they still treat him as someone else instead of Wukong himself. I can understand that before the Destined One gained the memories of Wukong, he basically was a different person. You can argue that memories and experience define who we are, but the very concept of a higher consciousness would disprove that. My point is, if the Destined One is the mind, then that means he is the higher consciousness of Wukong, meaning he IS Wukong. It confuses me that they still treat him as a different person though.
It's nostalgic. Its kinda like when Toby Mcquire and Andrew Garfield reprise their roles in Spider man NWH, or when Luke made a cameo in The Mandalorian, except x5. JTTW was as popular as GOT if not more to the fans in China, Vietnam etc
Seeing all 4 of them together made my heart soar. I've never really considered the impact of JttW on my life personally, but the game reminded me that its legacy has always been there with me and around me. Really does make one proud to be Chinese.
Most of our love for Wukong start with the 1986 Journey to the West. So when the music hit, it hit directly in out heart and bring back so much memories of our childhood :) This scene, this game will not only be the Game of the Year, It's the Game of a generation.
As a Chinese grew up reading and watching JTW book, anime, TV series, I can’t even describe how much I was touched by this cutscene. The clips were in reverse order of the stories in the book, all the way back to Wukong first fought the celestial court, and then travelled back to the beginning of the game, when Wukong decided to fight the celestial court one last time.
no, he regains his memory and everything back in the destined one's body, the last scene is not the beginning of the game, it's the continuing of the game after he regained everything and now he's completely free
@@sheri2x385 One interpretation is that you can interpret it to mean that the main character of the game has become Sun Goku, because it is actually the reincarnation of Goku and also the "meaning root". By collecting the other five roots and finally retrieving Sun Wukong's memory from the Erang God, you can become the true Sun Wukong.
For those who don't know what the animation is about, this is a flashback recap of Journey to the West in reverse. [Chapter 100]: After bringing the sutra back to the Land of the East (China), Sun Wukong, Sanzang, and the others pilgrims completed the Journey to the West and thus were granted Buddhahood by Tathagata Buddha. Wukong became the Victorious Fighting Buddha. [Chapter 99]: The pilgrims successfully received all the sutras from Tathagata Buddha from the Spirit Mountain (India) and brought them back to The Land of the East. However, during the trip, they were thrown off in the middle of the Heaven-Crossing River as their final trial, since they failed to make the promise with the Great White Turtle (back then in chapter 49) to ask the Buddha about his cultivations and future. When the pilgrims fell into the river, all the sutras were wet and some were torn, thus making them imperfect (as natural as heaven and earth). [Chapter 87]: The pilgrims saved the Phoenix-Immortal District from a heavy drought by completing 3 trials created by the Jade Emperor of the Celestial Heaven. [Chapter 78-79]: The pilgrims crossed the Kingdom of Bhiksu, where children were captured to create an elixir for a sickened king, as advised by the White Deer Spirit who disguised as an elderly Taoist as well as the king’s father-in-law. [Chapter 74-77]: The pilgrims passed Lion-Camel Ridge, where they encountered 3 Yaoguai kings, the White Elephant King, the Azure Lion King, and the Golden-winged Great Roc King. This was probably one of the hardest trials that Sun Wukong has ever faced, and the Tathagata Buddha had to directly help him. [Chapter 67]: The pilgrims crossed Tuolue Village and saved them from a giant Python Demon. [Chapter 62-63]: The pilgrims crossed The Sacrifice Kingdom, where the Nine-Headed Beast had stolen a Buddhist Sarira. Wukong, and Bajie had to fight the beast, and they even invited Erlang to support them in killing it. [Chapter 56-58]: Wukong confronted the Six-Eared Macaque, who disguised himself as the fake Wukong to steal his identity. Even all the celestial gods and Buddhas across three realms were unable to identify which one was the true Wukong, except the Tathagata Buddha. [Chapter 50-52]: Wukong and the pilgrims faced the Single-Horned Rhinoceros King, who was able to use a magical diamond armlet to steal all the weapons that Wukong, Bajie, Neiza, and the Celestial army had brought to fight him, even the very abstracted weapons like fire or water. Only the Supreme Exalted Laozi was able to subdue the Rhinoceros King, his personal riding green bull. It turned out the diamond armlet had been used to subdue Wukong when he fought with Erlang in chapter 6 (during the Havoc on Heaven). [Chapter 44-46]: The pilgrims crossed the Cart-Slow Kingdom, where they encountered three Taoist magicans, Tiger Power Great Immortal, Elk Power Great Immortal, and Antelope Power Great Immortal, who were also the royal advisors. These Taoist magicians challenged the pilgrims into a contest of summoning rains, chopping heads, cutting open abdomens, or even bathing in boiling oil. [Chapter 40-42]: The pilgrims approached Mount Roaring, where they encountered Crimson Boy, the son of Bull Demon King. Facing the Fire of Samadhi, Wukong almost died from all the smoke, wind, and flames (mainly smoke; the probably only weakness Wukong ever had) if Bajie hadn't saved him with his Heavenly spell of healing. [Chapter 27-33]: The pilgrims faced White Bone Ghost-lady, who transformed into a young village girl, an old woman, and an elderly man to trick the pilgrims. Wukong successfully killed her after the third time, but Sanzang was tricked into believing that Wuking had murdered innocent people and thus banished him away. Later on, Sanzang was captured by Yellow-Robed Yaoguai in the Precious-Image Kingdom, and Bajie had to invite Wukong back to save him again. [Chapter 24-26] The pilgrims arrived at Five Village Abbey, Long Life Mountain, where The Great Immortal Zhenyuan (who is the patriarch of all Earth's Immortals in Taoist) presented Sanzang with some Ginseng Fruits, a baby-shaped fruit that granted immortality when consumed, far more precious than the Immortal Peach. Wukong stole some fruits for himself and other pilgrims, and later, he uprooted the Ginseng Fruit Tree when his crime had been discovered. He had to invite Guanyin Bodhisattva to revive the tree. [Chapter 22] Sanzang, Wukong, and Bajie reached the Flowing-Sand River, where they fought a sand demon, who turned out to be the final disciple, Sha Monk (officially Sha Awakening of Pureness). [Chapter 14] Sanzang had just begun his Journey to the West and arrived at Five Element Mountain, where he freed Wukong by lifting Tathagata Buddha's seal and recruited him as his first disciple. Later on, they subdued Zhu Bajie (officially Zhu Awakening of Ability or Zhu Eight Rules) in Chapter 19 as the second disciple. [Chapter 7] Tathagata Buddha challenged Wukong to escape his palm, but Wukong failed. He was then imprisoned and sealed by the Buddha's palm (as the Five Element Mountain) for his crime against heaven for 500 years. [Chapter 4 - 7] Sun Wukong the Great Sage challenged the Celestial Heaven and battled with Erlang, Neiza, the Four Heavenly Kings, and an army of 100.000 Celestial Soldiers in his second havoc toward the Heaven. He turned himself into a three-head, six-arm body to fight all the celestial generals at once. Notably, Wukong fought with Erlang for days, both in combat and magic. Both are equal, while Erlang proved himself to have the upper hand slightly. Erlang only subdued Wukong with the support of the Supreme Exalted Laozi and his magical diamond circle. [Chapter 3] Sun Wukong got drunk and havoced the Underworld, where he crossed his name and every monkey's name out of the Book of Living and Death, thus making his soul not be managed by anyone. [Chapter 3] After receiving the golden armor and the Jingu Bang, Sun Wukong (literally translated as Awakening of Emptiness) gathered other Yaoguai, including the Bull Demon King, to drink together and become the swon brothers. But the scene is actually in chapter 5, where Wukong proclaimed himself as the Great Sage who Equal to the Heaven and started his first havoc toward the Heaven.
One thing i dont get is that we see wukong get freed from the headband at the end of JTTW. Then how does he still have it on his head on the start of the game and on the animations first scene? Is it because he did not enjoy buddhahood and basically went back to being normal wukong? The great sages broken vessel lore says something like that. Any ideas or answers? This is really interesting for me since its my first time with this lore
@thanghoangsong6138 Well, he can use that quote since he is the Victorious Fighting Buddha at the end of the journey I did read the novel, actually, but that does not discredit his power and feats. There are a few reasons why he is so weak in the journey: 1. He was sealed for 500 years in the mountain, and during that time, he couldn't train and do anything, and the Demons over time get stronger than in his times 2. He isn't allowed to kill, so that restricted him greatly, and some demons are part of the Celestial Court 3. Some demons actually have power that is greater than his (exp chapter 25) 4. His weapon was crafted by Tai Shang Lao Jun and the dude magical artifacts showing up everywhere in the novel, so it's no surprised he has to face some challenges 5. And despite everything, Wukong was only 500 something years old, and it's extremely young for an immortal. Bro hasn't reached his peak yet. (Exp: the Immortal Peaches actually reduced the thoundsand years of time to become Immortal so at minimum without any cheat, a demon need to train at least for a thoundsand year to become Immortal )
@@OutisGreen Kinda disagree is weaker because a mountain sit on him for 500 year. As soon as the monk peel that seal off dude blow that mountain smithereens. But I'm glad someone actually read and understand the novel.
So this whole game was about unshackling the last thing that held back his freedom, which is breaking free of the headband and the only way to do that is to be reborn again 😮😮😮 😱
I be,I’ve the point is not to live as the OG Wukong freely forever or simply break from headband. The point is whoever is willing to take the will of freedom from Wukong, will become Wukong. Wukong is a symbol now as even the body and soul can be destroyed, as long as there is someone believes in his idea of fighting for one’s freedom, there will always be another Wukong. The game asks us, to keep on fighting for what we believe in our life, no matter how hard, no matter the cost.
@@LeonardLuzon There's also Stephen Chow's "black myth" version of Journey to the West, called "A Chinese Odyssey: Pandora's Box Part 1". It's comedy (being a Stephen Chow's movie), but it has a really good storyline.
2:57 Seeing the expression of the Monkey King here, I feel that he knew in his heart that he had lost the bet with Buddha Rulai, and he could not fly out of the palm of Rulai's hand, but he was fearless, and he wrote “The Monkey King has come here” on Rulai's finger, and peed.
Learning about Wukong is gonna be amazing currently reading/watching so much about him and the Journey to the west. I’m captivated and im on NG+3 and I haven’t felt the way I’m feeling playing a game ever since elden ring came out. Absolutely love this feeling.
Just finished the game last night, and had goosebumps in the last feast/scene wukong had with his brothers. Cant wait for more DLC, and more from Game Science. It was a blast playing this game for 75 hours.
Growing up in SEA in the 2000s journey to the west was the GOAT tv show, and even thought it had been so long since i watch the 86 series but i recognize almost every scence, this brought back to ne so many fond memories, i really wished more players from the western world couldn enjoy the nostalgia and joy this cutscence brought back, ughh the music, the story, its just... ahhhh.
I'm Chinese, and I'm curious - for the 1986 version of Journey to the West, do you watch it dubbed in Vietnamese, or do you watch it directly in Chinese
1:15 THESE 4 we're part of my CHILDHOOD! These 4 RIGHT HERE! I am crying from nostalgia to see them back even for only a DAMN flashback! Sandy is my favorite of all and from what I understand he isn't in the game like Piggy 😭
I am SO in love with how he looks in this animation, wish this is how he looked in game, imo it just looks so much more like him! His side prof is so pretty in this :)
you must have hear tales about him...some say helped Tang Monk fetch the scriptures... was granted Buddhahood and stayed Mount Lingshan thereafter...Some say it was not him was granted Buddhahood...the real him was already dead on Journey to the West... Some say the journey never happened... he is nothing but a monkey who lives in some storyteller's tall tale... But now , you'll hear a tale no one has never known....
The animation is in reverse order of events and I will explain it in terms of my knowledge from the 80s tv show. 0:04 Start of the game Black Myth 0:24 Tangshanzhang(唐山藏), Sun Wukong(孙悟空), Zhu Bajie(猪八戒) and Sha Wujing(沙悟净) reached India(West) for the scriptures. Buddha(如来佛祖) granted Wukong the title of 斗战胜佛 (Victorious fighting Buddha). 0:47 The last tribulation the group encountered(total of 81, 九九八十一难). This is not the same turtle in the game, this one is called laoyan(老鼋), it was saved by the group from a demon and Tangshanzhang promised to help it ask the Buddha for a favor but Tangshanzhang forgot so it threw the group into the water 1:06 Reference to the time when the group encounters the people of Phoenix-Immortal, their king(凤仙郡王) offended the Jade Emperor(玉帝) and their nation is cursed with 3 years of drought and Wukong has to help them as one of the 81 tribulation (also the hardest one to overcome imo) 1:14 They have to help a nation against its mad king who was manipulated by a deer guai(白鹿) 1:20 The iconic "duu duu duu, duu duu duu" of the OG 80s tv show. 1:22 Another tribulation, Wukong has to fight against Golden-Winged Great Peng(金翅大鵬) and is considered one of the strongest yaoguai Wukong fought, this yaoguai had the help of another two strong yaoguai so Buddha himself appeared to help Wukong. 1:30 Wukong vs Python guai(蟒蛇精) 1:37 Wukong vs Nine-headed bird(九头虫). Another incredibly strong enemy, and Wukong had to team up with Erlangshen(二郎神) 1:44 Wukong fought against one of his monkey kind, Six-eared Macaque(六耳猕猴) who looks exactly like him and has the same abilities but Wukong killed him and has great regrets. 1:51 Wukong, Bajie, Wujing + Nezha(哪吒) vs Green bull guai(青牛精), this enemy stole magical equipment from a deity and used it to suck everything in. 1:56 The group met 3 yaoguai and they challenged Wukong. The tiger(虎力大仙), not the same one in the game, challenged Wukong to a "head chopping challenge" but Wukong transformed into a dog and took the head away so the tiger cant reattach and died lmao 2:00 Zhu Bajie saved Wukong's life after a huge battle with Red child(红孩儿). This is the only time Bajie save Wukong. 2:05 Tangsanzhang's chanting to tighten Wukong's headband and make him feel pain 2:09 White Bone guai(白骨精) 2:16 Wukong destroying the human shaped Ginseng tree(人参果树) because of his anger. This belongs to Great Zhenyuan Immortal(镇元大仙). 2:23 When the group first met Sha Wujing, he was still a river guai. Bajie fought to subdue him. 2:31 The five finger mountain(五指山) that Buddha made to seal Wukong after he lost to Budda. Tangsanzhang broke the seal. 3:07 The bet Wukong made with Buddha. He wrote "齐天大圣到此一游" on Buddha's finger which he didnt realised. It means "the Great Sage was here". He also peed on Buddha's palm. 3:21 Wukong's first rebellion against the heavenly court(大闹天空). Erlangshen on the left and Nezha on the right. 3:39 Wukong erasing his name from the book of life and death in Hell so he doesnt have a date for his death, making him immortal. 3:49 Wukong and his 6 sworn brothers. Bull demon king(牛魔王) is one of them. They vow to destroy the heavenly court. 4:05 This scene is back to the beginning of Black myth, his sworn brothers have mostly died or gone and he is now fighting alone.
There's actually, I think, a theory of where the ending of the animation is the "Destined One" with all his memories returned from the True Ending fight with Erlang. Now free from control of Heaven is starting another Rebellion Edit: Because if it was in the beginning of JTTW it would've had his 6 sworn brothers as it clearly shown right before it lol And If it was from the beginning of Black Myth he would've had the headband as the animation would've shown because all the scenes where he was under Heaven's control he had the headband
2:36 lmao i only just realized after watching this for the 6th time that they shaped the mountain as Buddha's hand (since i guess thats what they used to crush wukong lol) thats hype
When Wukong first challenged the Heaven, he was defeated by the Buddha and pressed under the Five Finger Mountain, where he was sealed for 500 years. That’s why the mountain is in the shape of a palm.
Hmmm... I can't explain anything anymore, just speechless. Just goosebumps due to it’s purely nostalgia, goosebumps from the music, details, etc. As Indonesian, this wholething also part of my childhood. I mean it everything, the music, the story, Wukong it self. No words can explain the feeling to experience the wholething again in the mordern version (Gaming).
1:05 One of the emperor was being punished by Celestial palace, but the ordinary people living in the country are being impacted and dying by the drought. Heaven set up 3 ordeals: Put a mountain of rice, to let a small chicken to eat, put a flour mountain, to let a puppy to lick, and put a giant metal lock, to let a tiny candle to burn it. Only when the chicken finish the rice mountain, the dog finish the flour mountain, and the candle burned down the Giant Lock, then Heaven would release a rain down to save people. ( Basically tells you it’s impossible)
Another detail that should be added is that Wukong, Bajie and Wujing tried to pass the ordeals themselves, but they ultimately failed. The mountain of rice and the mountain of flour would just refill themselves indefinately and Wukong's fire spell couldn't do any harm to the lock. The ordeals were never meant to be passed in the first place.
Another cool detail is that you can see the difference between the flash back and when it loop back to the beginning of the game. The flash backs have a white yellow overlay to it, it was a common thing to do during movies shows to have a yellow overlay in flash backs scene to no confuse the audience. when Wukong set down his cup the color change back, announcing this is the beginning of the game.
Wu Kong, the most elusive fly no god could smite. Truly a menace when I saw him piss on Buddha hand lol that was like damn they just can't stop this "mischievous monkey"
There is no Sun Wukong in history, but there is his teacher. His teacher, Tang Seng, is a true history. His teacher was in the Tang Dynasty 1300 years ago Learning Buddhism from China to India,Fourteen years laterAfter 14 years, he returned to China and translated Buddhist scriptures in China. And writeAnd wrote downAnd wrote the biography of the Western Regions of the Great Tang Dynasty.Journey to the West is based on this book and rumors.Journey to the West is written according to this book and rumors, but the author and the Tang Dynasty have been more than 800 years apart.
So in this story Wukong intentionally kills himself so the Destined One can recollect his relics and mind so Wukong can somewhat comeback with no imprisoning headband😲😲
Yes . Fun fact. Only people who were able to defeat wukong easily were 1. Yellowbrow ( yellowbrow defeated him so badly that wukong started pleading and begging anyone to listen to him ) 2. Lao xu's pet Ox (shown here taking their weapons). He posseses Lao xu celestial energy that allows him to steal everyone weapons. He's defeated when Lao xu simply tells him to come back😂😂😂😂
It's meant to be the destined one breaking the cycle, so I think it's designed in a way for most people to play through the game multiple times until they "break the cycle"
This is the memory of wukong that young monkey (player) receive after they finally collected all 6 parts. Young monkey, now free from headband, inherit his will and continue fighting.
A few weeks before the game came out I started watching videos on the story so I vaguely knew what was going on and when I finally got this scene last night I was blown away, seeing some of the things I heard about in the story animated like this was amazing. Fucking incredible ending on and incredible game,im so glad this game came out just to introduce me to this story as I never had heard about it and im nearly 40
If you watch Journey to the West, you can understand most of the scenes in this video. They comprise lots of monsters & challenges that Wukong, Bajie encounter on the journey to the West. For example, from 2:04 to 2:07, the master says the spell, it triggers the yellow ring on the head of Wukong to tighten & heart him. That's how the old master can manage him. This scene is the beginning part of Journey to the west 1986, ep.06.
Which movie or show had that storyline? Because I thought the story was about her deceiving the monk and Wukong saw through her deception thrice and killed her, but the monk really thought he killed three humans and punished him for it.
I'd pay a good amount just for a DLC or a separate game about the original journey, playing as Wukong, Zhu Baije, Sha Wujing. It would really carry story popularity on to the next generation of audience.
It’s telling that they play the journey backwards before showing the final sequence of the Great Sage leaving his deserted mountain to confront the Celestial Court. Because you had to go back to the stone egg as well. Because you couldn’t become what you already are, you can only go back.

[Chapter 78-79]: The pilgrims crossed the Kingdom of Bhiksu, where children were captured to create an elixir for a sickened king, as advised by the White Deer Spirit who disguised as an elderly Taoist
as well as the king’s father-in-law.

@thanghoangsong6138
Well, he can use that quote since he is the Victorious Fighting Buddha at the end of the journey
I did read the novel, actually, but that does not discredit his power and feats.
There are a few reasons why he is so weak in the journey:
1. He was sealed for 500 years in the mountain, and during that time, he couldn't train and do anything, and the Demons over time get stronger than in his times
2. He isn't allowed to kill, so that restricted him greatly, and some demons are part of the Celestial Court
3. Some demons actually have power that is greater than his (exp chapter 25)
4. His weapon was crafted by Tai Shang Lao Jun and the dude magical artifacts showing up everywhere in the novel, so it's no surprised he has to face some challenges

Singaporean knew this song! Watched thoughout the whole drama. Should include the ending song "Dare to ask where is the road" ❤
Not all singaporean, cause their chinese is not good 😂
I grown up with this song. So nostalgic 🥺
In fact, Wukong in the Black Myth pays tribute to Mao Zedong,“After I leave, each of you will be me”.
👍
Did Mao says that?
Pese a su controvertida historia,🇨🇳 como 🇷🇺 , supieron salir adelante y eso nos falta mucho en Latinoamérica.
Childhood memories from the 80s. I want to be Sun Wu Kong at that age. Wielding the makeshift staff as if it is Jin Gu Bang 金箍棒
you must have hear tales about him...some say helped Tang Monk fetch the scriptures... was granted Buddhahood and stayed Mount Lingshan thereafter...Some say it was not him was granted Buddhahood...the real him was already dead on Journey to the West... Some say the journey never happened... he is nothing but a monkey who lives in some storyteller's tall tale... But now , you'll hear a tale no one has never known....
Old monkey is Guanyin
damn. the scenes, the music... just bring back my childhood
The animation is in reverse order of events and I will explain it in terms of my knowledge from the 80s tv show.
0:04 Start of the game Black Myth
0:24 Tangshanzhang(唐山藏), Sun Wukong(孙悟空), Zhu Bajie(猪八戒) and Sha Wujing(沙悟净) reached India(West) for the scriptures. Buddha(如来佛祖) granted Wukong the title of 斗战胜佛 (Victorious fighting Buddha).
0:47 The last tribulation the group encountered(total of 81, 九九八十一难). This is not the same turtle in the game, this one is called laoyan(老鼋), it was saved by the group from a demon and Tangshanzhang promised to help it ask the Buddha for a favor but Tangshanzhang forgot so it threw the group into the water
1:06 Reference to the time when the group encounters the people of Phoenix-Immortal, their king(凤仙郡王) offended the Jade Emperor(玉帝) and their nation is cursed with 3 years of drought and Wukong has to help them as one of the 81 tribulation (also the hardest one to overcome imo)
1:14 They have to help a nation against its mad king who was manipulated by a deer guai(白鹿)
1:20 The iconic "duu duu duu, duu duu duu" of the OG 80s tv show.
1:22 Another tribulation, Wukong has to fight against Golden-Winged Great Peng(金翅大鵬) and is considered one of the strongest yaoguai Wukong fought, this yaoguai had the help of another two strong yaoguai so Buddha himself appeared to help Wukong.
1:30 Wukong vs Python guai(蟒蛇精)
1:37 Wukong vs Nine-headed bird(九头虫). Another incredibly strong enemy, and Wukong had to team up with Erlangshen(二郎神)
1:44 Wukong fought against one of his monkey kind, Six-eared Macaque(六耳猕猴) who looks exactly like him and has the same abilities but Wukong killed him and has great regrets.
1:51 Wukong, Bajie, Wujing + Nezha(哪吒) vs Green bull guai(青牛精), this enemy stole magical equipment from a deity and used it to suck everything in.
1:56 The group met 3 yaoguai and they challenged Wukong. The tiger(虎力大仙), not the same one in the game, challenged Wukong to a "head chopping challenge" but Wukong transformed into a dog and took the head away so the tiger cant reattach and died lmao
2:00 Zhu Bajie saved Wukong's life after a huge battle with Red child(红孩儿). This is the only time Bajie save Wukong.
2:05 Tangsanzhang's chanting to tighten Wukong's headband and make him feel pain
2:09 White Bone guai(白骨精)
2:16 Wukong destroying the human shaped Ginseng tree(人参果树) because of his anger.
Thanks for explaining
@@edward8691You are welcome
Thank you! I was looking a comparison to the 80s series. Was confused on the bajie saving wukong part
There's actually, I think, a theory of where the ending of the animation is the "Destined One" with all his memories returned from the True Ending fight with Erlang. Now free from control of Heaven is starting another Rebellion
Edit: Because if it was in the beginning of JTTW it would've had his 6 sworn brothers as it clearly shown right before it lol
And If it was from the beginning of Black Myth he would've had the headband as the animation would've shown because all the scenes where he was under Heaven's control he had the headband
2:36
lmao i only just realized after watching this for the 6th time that they shaped the mountain as Buddha's hand (since i guess thats what they used to crush wukong lol) thats hype
这座山是五指山,它真的是佛祖的手,孙悟空被压在山下五百年😂
You can't fly out of my Five Finger Mountain
When Wukong first challenged the Heaven, he was defeated by the Buddha and pressed under the Five Finger Mountain, where he was sealed for 500 years. That’s why the mountain is in the shape of a palm.
Hmmm... I can't explain anything anymore, just speechless. Just goosebumps due to it’s purely nostalgia, goosebumps from the music, details, etc.
As Indonesian, this wholething also part of my childhood. I mean it everything, the music, the story, Wukong it self. No words can explain the feeling to experience the wholething again in the mordern version (Gaming).
When i saw the trailer, i only expect good games to enjoy playing, never expect it also come with our entire childhood memory, so freaking nostalgic.
@@avorkle6624 that’s right !
Damn 😢
Can you refresh my memory of what happened about the three ordeals I haven't watched journey to the west for a long time
If you know the journey to the west story this hits so much harder. I loved that they used the 1986 intro song.
I never cried over a video game, until I played this game, they did Sun Wukong so much justice.
Got me in tears 😭
I love jttw so much!!!
This ending was a slog to get to but rewarding just to dee this cutscene animation. What a treat
Omg it’s the journey to the west theme song.. oh gawd my childhood memory remembers this!
Full circle moment for anyone who grew up with JTTW
Greetings from Perú, south america. I love the song in this game but specially this chapter song was inspiring for me to training, i dont know why
My childhood after hearing this song.
This song brings all Asians together and to tears perhaps, because it just did to me.
OMG THIS BACKGROUND MUSIC IS BRINGING BACK MEMORYS
To the westerners born in 70-90s, this background music is the eastern equivalent to the Star Wars Theme Music in your memories.
beyond even that
more like theme song of Star War
@@oliviagao6265Bingo
Keep those eyes wide open watch me rip it off and break free-: THIS IS WHAT YOU PLAYED ❤😮
ART
Another cool detail is that you can see the difference between the flash back and when it loop back to the beginning of the game. The flash backs have a white yellow overlay to it, it was a common thing to do during movies shows to have a yellow overlay in flash backs scene to no confuse the audience. when Wukong set down his cup the color change back, announcing this is the beginning of the game.
好!
1:45 is wukong holding the six eared macaque?
Wu Kong, the most elusive fly no god could smite. Truly a menace when I saw him piss on Buddha hand lol that was like damn they just can't stop this "mischievous monkey"
Just realized the OST of this scene was already 40 years old from 1986 "Journey Of The West". oMG
Oh my God, I would watch this series with such animation
Sun Wukong is the God of Anarchism, defying any mf that is high above, yeah, just don’t give a damn about the celestial court!
I don’t know any of the wukong story, but god this music is so great
There is no Sun Wukong in history, but there is his teacher.
让一切回到原点 这次悟空要在他的世界走出一条不一样的路
the music at 1:59, 2:46 and 3:01 are perfect. Just that violin sounds amazing and the chorus with it, with that high note. Absolutely perfect.
You tell me those western game journalist play through this game and the only thing stick through their skull is "lack diversity" 😂😂😂
They are pathetic
Don't mind those fools
Lmao there even is the big boss with black appearance having the word Black in his name
Yall falling for ragebait
They have monkey already, what diversity do they badly need?
这首bgm想起,童年的回忆让我起一身鸡皮疙瘩。🎉只有小时候暑假看86版西游记长大的人才知道这份感动。
So in this story Wukong intentionally kills himself so the Destined One can recollect his relics and mind so Wukong can somewhat comeback with no imprisoning headband😲😲
Yes . Fun fact.
Only people who were able to defeat wukong easily were
1. Yellowbrow ( yellowbrow defeated him so badly that wukong started pleading and begging anyone to listen to him )
2. Lao xu's pet Ox (shown here taking their weapons). He posseses Lao xu celestial energy that allows him to steal everyone weapons. He's defeated when Lao xu simply tells him to come back😂😂😂😂
Next one: Nezha!!!! Nezha! Nezha! Little Nezha!! He is my hero❤❤❤
Nice you got a good ending which lead to this memory, there are so many guys speedrush and got a bad ending story xd
That OST is the 1986 Journey to the West opening theme 🥲 I cried when I recognized that familiar song that I grew up with.
Im a black guy, and even i remembered the theme from Journey To The West. I had Korean babysitters. You don't gotta be asian to know the goods!
With your name having Winn like Nguyen it was all Destiny 🤣
I love wukong and Journey to the weat from Israel.
Can’t wait for the sequel 😍
Great homage to the 1986 series. so much respect from the devs!
Journey to the west from israel😂
You know how much red flags that comment contained right now 😂
the music is indispensable, linking to the childhood in 1980s and 90s
If you watch Journey to the West, you can understand most of the scenes in this video. They comprise lots of monsters & challenges that Wukong, Bajie encounter on the journey to the West. For example, from 2:04 to 2:07, the master says the spell, it triggers the yellow ring on the head of Wukong to tighten & heart him. That's how the old master can manage him. This scene is the beginning part of Journey to the west 1986, ep.06.
2:09 Lol, White bone ghost-lady loves Wukong so much although he killed her 3 times and he loves her too :))
Aka Jing Jing
which is unfaithful to the original literature
Which movie or show had that storyline? Because I thought the story was about her deceiving the monk and Wukong saw through her deception thrice and killed her, but the monk really thought he killed three humans and punished him for it.
I love how important other media makes her. She was only alive for 3 pages. 😂 no criticism. That's just cool how big a impression she made.
@@adiel177 Stephen chow movie
Man I used to play with a Rake and call myself Zhu Baji in my childhood, this game really brings up a lot of memories
I shed tears as soon as I heard the sound track. I wish I was in kindergarten again
This music is Masterpiece.....definitely GOTY 💯💯💯🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
I'd pay a good amount just for a DLC or a separate game about the original journey, playing as Wukong, Zhu Baije, Sha Wujing. It would really carry story popularity on to the next generation of audience.
Yeah that would be cool if they did that
It’s telling that they play the journey backwards before showing the final sequence of the Great Sage leaving his deserted mountain to confront the Celestial Court. Because you had to go back to the stone egg as well. Because you couldn’t become what you already are, you can only go back.
Hope it is on the agenda for the Dev team to turn the OG story into a game.
"Black Myth of Wukong : Journey to The West" cool
