@@bep935 That's not really irony, nor ironic. It's FUNNY that he's calling someone stupid while incapable of using the correct version of "your", but irony, in all cases, is something you do on purpose.
A great tutorial, with a clear, well-spoken and pleasant voice. It's helped me massively to get to grips with the key concepts of the game, and it's also really entertaining. I've been watching this series every evening in bed with a cup of tea! Thank you very much for taking the time to make it, Arumba.
When you explain how the special character button works, you have find a Mayor called Dan to use it on. And then slaughter him in combat 30 years later.
This game is just remarkable - it's the only one, so far, that made me quit in, literally, 5 minutes of booting it up, because I just sat i front of my monitor, wondering what the hell to do. It made me feel more helpless than all survival horror games I've ever played, combined. Now, I will admit - I am no tactical genius, I rarely play rts games, in fact, I only picked this up, because it was included in a Humble Bundle and my friends asked me to play with them. That said, thanks a lot for this tutorial, Arumba. After watching it, I feel a lot less helpless :D
just try things. the more you do the more you learn. that's part of the fun of it. as long as you have an heir with a title the game will continue, so you have hundreds of years to learn how to play :) it's worth it, i promise :)
After watching your GOT series I bought this game but wanted to see how the vanilla game plays first. I was super confused in the demo so before even starting a game I looked up a tutorial and you were the first thing to pop up. I love your videos, your sense of sort of roleplaying, and how you manage to break down what at first looks is the most complicated system of all time. I say sir you have earned my subscription and a cookie
This is the best tutorial that I have ever seen of ANY game. You are easy to understand, speak perfect English and use the perfect words to describe every particular part of the game. I have been playing this game for a long time, but I still learned a ton of new things from watching thus tutorial. Thank you very much!
Wow, been trying to work this game out for ages and even watched other videos from those who seemed just as clueless as myself. Your first video helped me more than all the other videos I watched put together. Thank you so much! There is hope for me yet.
I guess most people will really need this tutorial series. I for an example have over 200 hours in the game, buuut I still always mess it up sooner or later.
I don't have enough thumbs for this. I love that you are making a tutorial for CK2. I have been watching your videos for more than a year, but I can't do half the stuff you do.
Thank you Arumba! I've always been an EUIV guy myself, but never got into CKII because it just seemed like a lot, and having a series like this to explain even the most trivial details it helpful and enjoyable, I hope to see more of this series in the future.
AWESOME VIDEOS! I am new to this game and am EXTREMELY intrigued. I want to play it so badly, but it is so massive that I become overwhelmed and dont even know where to start. Your videos are so clear and explain things so thoroughly with relative ease. Thank you.
This is sooooo freaken helpful! I basically threw myself into this game and lost horribly not even understanding everyting, the tutorial was too long for me. And a voiced explanation is so much better. Thank you.
Thanks so much for making these videos. I have been wanting to play CKII for some time but felt lost every time I started it up. I just watched this first one so far but I'm sure I will watch the others over time too. Now I can enjoy this game! As a side note, thanks for speaking so clearly and in such a straightforward manner that is easy to understand. Also, thanks for not having a bunch of irritating banter!
This is brilliant man. I have decided I must learn how to play this, and that I one day will be able to enjoy it. As a beginner it is just so overwhelming, even with the in game tutorial, it is just SO MUCH. Thank you for breaking it down like this, I am really intrigued, and cannot wait to watch the rest of your tutorials! :)
After CSK2 become a free to play game i try to play but as a not native english speaker also not experienced strategy game player i had a lot of hard time in the game then i start to looking for some tutorial and thank god i find you.Your crystal clear english and how to explain things very basic and easy to undestand for everyone it's help me a lot thanks to you i having fun i appreciate.
Start as Ireland. You basically can never loose as Ireland, nobody wants to attack you, sometimes the Scottish take Ulster and that's it. So you slowly learn warfare through the wars you wage against other counts in Ireland to unify it. You learn vassal management once you start forming the kingdom. And you'll never loose a war because you will be able to use mercenaries to win the first and after the first there will be a snowball effect where only the duke of munster has the same amount of land as you and he has to share it with a vassal.
ImperialGuardsman74 God damn it! It's not "loose" it's "lose" Loose is the opposite of tight and lose is the opposite of win! Also no fuck Ireland and counts. Better to start as an emperor because the power they have gives the player time to focus on other stuff except war. Nobody is gonna attack an emperor or king without a second thought. On the other hand if you play as a count you won't have so many chances to learn the mechanics of the game since you will focus on war most of the time.
***** Emperors can be easily overthrown by factions and if you are new the managing of an empire can be too much for you. I started as an count and learned the differences of Duchy/kingdom management.
wilhelmrk Well personally i didn't have problems putting down rebellions. True, factions fire when you're new and don't know how to keep people happy but most of the time you manage.
Arumba I want you to know that while I have several thousand hours clocked on CKII I found this video so fun and enjoyable to watch. It just goes to show that you have the ability to make things quite interesting. keep it up!
Thank you very much Arumba, I was really looking forward to playing the game as it looks quite complex and like a lot of fun, but I didn't find the tutorial in the game all that educational, and I like the way you explain everything there is to explain, and take your time to do so, very much needed for any brand new player, I'll be watching the rest of the tutorials as well :), thanks again!
The game is free on Steam atm so I was looking forward to trying it, but my brain hurts after watching this so I don't know if that is going to happen.
Please get it it really is some of the most fun I've ever had in a game, after one or two playthroughs things almost become instinct and from then on it's just a fun, pleasantly challenging, hilarious murder simulator. If things look too confusing, just dive right in! Even with just the in-game tutorial and some experimentation things become much more straightforward. Plus, watching let's plays is always a great way to improve. Hope I've convinced you :)
same. got it for free..decided to try it...couldn't understand shit and so decided to watch the gameplay/tutorial...wasn't disappointed. i still cant play shit but i got a history lesson on hierarchy.
I have now watched this playlist up to video no.20 and highly recommend them for anyone considering devoting their time to watching these. Lots too learn in each video from start to finish. :)
I've played for over 200 hours now and watched a lot of your other videos on this game so I didn't learn anything new so far. But do like the way you are explaining things. If I had watched this before watching your other videos I wouldn't have been as confused for so long. Thanks for doing this series, keep it up.
That's why you play in 1066. The only 867 starts in Albion that are smart are Wessex, Dorset and the Norse themselves(though i did have a playthrough where i tried to stop the Norse as Northumbria, and after many retry's i did manage :D)
Thanks so much for this! I'll be watching the rest of the series as the day goes on. I hear so many great things about Crusader Kings 2 and started to play last night and the tutorial is nothing short of useless. Learned quite a bit on just this first video.
Thank you so much man. I was a guy who plays and mods Dwarf Fortress and yet I did not find time to learn how to play CK yet. Your videos are that kick which was needed to start the ball of understanding rolling! Eternal gratitude to you.
+TheCybercoco also some very interesting DLC's have been released that change the game quite a bit. So agreed I would love to see a new updated tutorial
I am just coming back to attempt to play Crusader Kings for the third time having got so lost previously. This series looks great. Thanks for taking the time to prepare the tutorials.
I made a habit of viewing all of your videos, as soon as they go online. You have some really good series and it's basically thanks to you that I've got into Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis. Keep up the good work, Arumba! :)
So glad to find this! Just bought CKII and DLCs and a) found myself baffled and b) the in-game tutorial freezes after 5-10 min of play. Paradox haven't come back with a fix yet (it's Xmas and I only contacted them 24hrs ago), so this video series is a godsend. CKII is very much my kind've game (I think!) but seems to have a greater depth and complexity than any strategy game I've played. Thanks Arumba!
After looking through many tutorials on CKII, I've settled into your series. It just seems to be the best for my tastes for such a complex game. Anyway, my plan was to loosely follow your series whilst starting my own game using the same characters and locations. One thing that puzzles me is my game has some different items than what I see in your game. I started at January 1, 867 . . . just like you, and I started in Ireland in Desmond county. However, the names of the leader are different, and also my County is called Deasmhumhain rather than Desmond . . . what gives?
You sir are my savior. I has try many times and never can really get into CK2 (and my friends say that if you can play Total War, you "totally"can play CK2) but with your help, i has push through. So thank you.
I've played this game for 350+ hours, yet I could never get past the first couple members of my Dynasty because it was hard to really understand. I write books for a living- massive complicated books with a metric shit-ton of lore- but I couldn't wrap my head around this game until watching this series. From the very core of my being as a gamer Arumba, thank you.
I've watched you for about a year (Since e Old Gods came out and I have never once played any paradox game but learned so much from watching you and other youtubers and this has become quite an enjoyable game for me despite never playing it so basically great series and great channel
100% new to the game. I realize it's three years since you first posted this, but wanted to thank you, especially for the deliberateness shown in the pacing of your tutorial. Just what I needed.
Arumba, do you think you could write down or somehow keep track of what topics you cover in which episodes, and then put that into the description. It would be extremely convenient for people like myself who have played for hundreds of hours but don't have a firm understanding on the smaller stuff, like De Jure Drift for example.
The first time I watched this tutorial I got an headache. The second time I also got an headache. Then I played the game myself and I got an headache. Now I am watching this tutorial again and it makes sense. Nice!
10/10 for an excellent, well-thought out, clear tutorial. Just bought the game and knew I'd need a tutorial - couldn't have asked for anything better. Thanks.
IfJesusWoreAHat I suppose so. But if he has a phone he can watch this on how is it he can't afford a PC? Heck, now days the bottom line computers are less than a hundred dollars.
I just want to echo other comments: thank you so much for this. Like a surprising number of other people I started with EU4 and am now thoroughly used to how that works. I saw CK2 on the Humble Bundle, thought "oh I've heard good things about that and I can export my game from that into EU4!" and now I'm feeling lost. The tutorials in-game help, but I'm still so sure I'm missing about 60% of what's going on. This tutorial series should be a huge help!
Great video series Arumba! With the new patch and DLC, can it ever be possible to create kingdoms or empires that don't belong to the culture of your chosen starting character?
due to a patch some time ago, cultural restrictions on Kingdoms/empires was removed ON A MAJORITY of them. TLDR: yes you can form Poland as an Irishman or vice versa, hell same thing for forming Greece or Germany
Yes any Cultured character can form ANY kingdom or empire they want. A Saxon can form Scandinavia if he controls enough of the land to do so... A Kurdish Sunni can form the empire of Italy if he has the land or even the Holy Roman Empire..... They took out all the culture requirements for kingdoms and empires quiet awhile ago.
On that note, here are things I would like to see covered eventually: 1) how to best dole out counties and duchies when at the limits ("too many duchies", "demesne size too large" -- Relatives? Counts only? Vassal Kings?) 2) how to best get rid of unwanted kids or siblings from inheritance 3) switching wrong holding types, dealing with baronies + bishoprics smartly 4) religion and culture conversions (any updates to previous guides?) 5) traits and how to get them (the good ones) or lose them (the bad ones) 6) breeding congenital traits and how genetics work in your dynasty 7) inviting claimants, pressing their claims, ensuring they'll be your vassals 8) the life and struggle as a one-province count in an empire, HOWTO 9) how to do factions best and have the right ones pop up when needed 10) when to do plots and have them be available at all at the right moment 11) how to keep liege revocations away (join a faction?) 12) how to get good councilors (invite to court, fake marriage, etc.) etc. pp.
Tutorials from the master himself ;) Perhaps even after 1000 hours of gameplay I'll learn something I haven't yet seen him do in the 9 months I've watched him ;) To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised!
Fantastic group of vids. Was looking for something new to play and I had seen this game at the top of a number of "Best 4x" lists so it was just a matter of time. Got a copy of the game and was overwhelmed by the interface and how crappy the in game tutorial was. Now in the total war games I'd always spent too much time looking at the family tree. You had very little control of it but I liked it just the same and would check it out when I should have been hitting the next turn button. This game is all about the family, and so very satisfying to play for someone with a megalomaniacal personality (Show me a 4x gamer without one I'll skin a rabbit with my teeth). But what a beast to learn cold. I started my own game after watching 3 hours of this series and have taken a few games a couple hundred years or so with different succession methods. Posting now to say thank you, no really, THANK YOU!!! This series, with the basics of gameplay and some of the mechanics spread out for you point by point, was so helpful for me. When you have an idea what you are doing, this game is so much fun to play. And.... I have a question. in my longest played game so far i have an empire. All the British isles, I kept the crown of ireland for myself due to sentimental and demesne reasons. my crowns also include Navarra and Brittany . Vassal Kings; Castile, Asturias, Germany, Frisia, Aragon, Aquitaine, Scotland, Wales, England. My first couple attempts taught me to only press claims of vassals, dynasty members and de joure claims or holy wars, for fear of wasting time and troops accomplishing nothing. If I press the personal ducal claim of an unlanded, non dynasty member in de joure aquitaine, the king of aquitaine being my vassal, me not being the emperor of francia but only emperor of the the british isles, will the duchy become part of my empire? Or will it just be an ownership change as "I" am not de jeur leige but my vassel the king of aquitaine is?
To be honest I found this game relatively easy but when it comes to EU4 I can't do shit. For whatever reason I simply don't get it. It doesn't help that EU4 seems to actively hide information that you need to know to make good decisions.
i have opposite "feelings" in EU4 I see every information i need to know but in CK2 i have to search for things that in EU4 i see in seconds. I hope that this series will help me :)
I guess I'm just weird. Not wired for it or something. But EU4 really does hide information from you. There are a number of "hidden" (both actually hidden and sort of hidden) multipliers for combat, diplo/espionage percentages, revolt risk, and income. Now, some of these exist in CK2 as well but there are either fewer of them or they have a smaller effect.
damn this is JUST what I was looking for. This game is interesting enough and complicated enough that 100 years from now people will still be searching for the tutorial!
I just picked up the game yesterday, and the in-game tutorial seems to have been removed. I was 'absolutely' lost. This video series is exactly what I need in order to gain a clue as to how to actually play this game. Thank you ever so much.
About the best I was able to do in this game was have a very skilled old man who had 2 children before he croaked. The first was a girl, who by law could not inherit his lands, or titles, but could inherit all his best traits and skills. So she got married off to an emperor. The second child, the son, was worthless in just about every way. Mangled and scarred physically, emotionally, and mentally from the traumas of his childhood, he was a mess. So naturally when the old man died, I got to continue his legacy as the worthless son and watch his sister create a strong Imperial family line, while cutting large swaths of land across europe and the middle east on her military campaigns between popping out babies.
You're not pronouncing "de jure" right, it should be "de yure". I'm happy you've decided to make a tutorial series for CK2, I love EU4 but I haven't really tried CK2, maybe I will after learning how the game works and what can be done
Awesome that you are doing a series like this. I have played maybe 1-200 hours over the years of CK II. But usually stall out or stop playing for awhile around mid game, making 1-2 Kingdoms. Then come back and start a new game. So hopefully this series will go through all the way to the end and will go in depth about 3x king control and empire control.
Great to see you do a tutorial like this for CK2. I have several friends who have purchased it (either humble bundles or when on sale) that can't seem to grasp certain things in the game. I already linked them to keep an eye on these as I think it will give them a better understanding and hopefully turn them into fans of the series :)
I couldn't even FIND the in-game tutorial... I tried to play and couldn't figure out how to do anything at all - AT ALL. So I'm THRILLED that these videos exist!! THANK YOU SO MUCH
hi, i played crusader kings years ago but never really "got it". Now that i am older i came back to it and have been playing all weekend. I understand a lot of it and can take counties and learned how to breed my way into taking over lots of land. With that said, just watching this video has already filled in a lot of the gaps i never really understood about the game. Thanks for the upload!
Hey man I'm gradually learning this game thanks to watching your videos, and this is exactly what I needed. So many videos presume the viewer has a basic knowledge of the systems in this game, it's so helpful to find a video series which explains the minutiae! Thanks mate
I bought CK2 because it looked so amazing and I went in cold turkey. I have never been more confused in my life with a game. I am so happy I found your tutorial! 10 minutes in and I have a better understanding of what the hell I did wrong after 2 hours of fumbling.
Came here to learn how to play Crusader Kings 2 Left here safe in the knowledge I will never ever be able to play Crusader Kings 2
I feel simmilarly. It is much more complicated than eu4
You made me laugh. Thank you.
Just start playing! You can make good progress without really getting all that's going on!

Yo dawg i heard you liked vassals so i made it so you can have a vassal of a vassal of a vassal of a vassal that owns a vassal.
I really want to get into this game but its 22 episodes long...............
Barit555 haha your profile pic brings your comment to life.
i watched three episodes then said fuck it and started playing, somehow I did fine
that was my general thinking after ten minutes in the tutorial.. and here I am
@The Internet Killed Music you're comment makes you seem stupid as fuck, go somewhere else Instead.
I don't know why, but I find this more interesting than a usual CKII playthrough.
It might be interesting to see you intentionally make mistakes and show how to recover from them. Perhaps succession problems.
Playing the western Roman empire on legendary is LEGIT walk in the park compare to this shit.
Have you tried Dwarf Fortress?
After watching your GOT series I bought this game but wanted to see how the vanilla game plays first. I was super confused in the demo so before even starting a game I looked up a tutorial and you were the first thing to pop up. I love your videos, your sense of sort of roleplaying, and how you manage to break down what at first looks is the most complicated system of all time. I say sir you have earned my subscription and a cookie
I am 100% new, so thanks for this
This is the best tutorial that I have ever seen of ANY game. You are easy to understand, speak perfect English and use the perfect words to describe every particular part of the game. I have been playing this game for a long time, but I still learned a ton of new things from watching thus tutorial. Thank you very much!
At last, Arumba returns to CK2! Happy days are here again!
Wow, been trying to work this game out for ages and even watched other videos from those who seemed just as clueless as myself. Your first video helped me more than all the other videos I watched put together. Thank you so much! There is hope for me yet.
I guess most people will really need this tutorial series. I for an example have over 200 hours in the game, buuut I still always mess it up sooner or later.
your vids are awesome!
Thank you.
Great job... I learned stuff
If this game had totalwar's combat system....oh the dreams...
Salvador Garcia That would be amazing!
Salvador Garcia That's exactly what I want!
This is sooooo freaken helpful! I basically threw myself into this game and lost horribly not even understanding everyting, the tutorial was too long for me. And a voiced explanation is so much better. Thank you.
Lord Baelish would be very good at this game..
Raza 😂😂😂
Raza The Game of Thrones mod for this game is amazing btw
Thank you Arumba. God dammit i mastered Europa universalis in a week, while i still cant survive a year in this game after a month of gaming
ImperialGuardsman74
God damn it!
*****
Emperor is a good way too loose the game and be overwhelmed.
wilhelmrk Well personally i didn't have problems putting down rebellions. True, factions fire when you're new and don't know how to keep people happy but most of the time you manage.
Arumba I want you to know that while I have several thousand hours clocked on CKII I found this video so fun and enjoyable to watch. It just goes to show that you have the ability to make things quite interesting. keep it up!
Nice job... I play this game for few years and now I learned something new...
I wish I had this when I was learning CK2. Thanks Arumba!
I learned how to play with this series, but I still come back often because you're such an amazing teacher Arumba!
Your head hurts? That's just part of CK2 gameplay. So it's normal.
So much reading but good game
same. got it for free..decided to try it...couldn't understand shit and so decided to watch the gameplay/tutorial...wasn't disappointed. i still cant play shit but i got a history lesson on hierarchy.
I got it the same way. I'm also here because even with the tutorial, I have no idea what's going on, but want to.
I have now watched this playlist up to video no.20 and highly recommend them for anyone considering devoting their time to watching these. Lots too learn in each video from start to finish. :)
vassalofavassalofavassal
vassalcursion. inception is the creation of something
I assume you've never watched the movie Inception before.
fuck it's in my name
Shane Vassallo Paleologo are you greek
I've played for over 200 hours now and watched a lot of your other videos on this game so I didn't learn anything new so far. But do like the way you are explaining things. If I had watched this before watching your other videos I wouldn't have been as confused for so long. Thanks for doing this series, keep it up.
Last time I played a count in Ireland in the 867 start I was invaded by vikings in the 3rd month xD
That's why you play in 1066.
The only 867 starts in Albion that are smart are Wessex, Dorset and the Norse themselves(though i did have a playthrough where i tried to stop the Norse as Northumbria, and after many retry's i did manage :D)
how does he start in 867 as though its 1066? mod? when i click on 867 it forces me to use a norse chief as instead of a duke.
It's a DLC. I believe it's called "Old Gods" or something. As of now you can even start at 772 or something. Again a DLC.
the game was changed in the Charlemange patch that added the tribal governments.
To follow the tutorial exactly, you need to roll back to 2.1.6.
newbie island is also incredible easy in 867 IMO
this is seriously fantastically done. just picked the game up on a steam sale and was so lost. this is very helpful!!!
Gotta say it, I learned how to play CK2 from watching you for several hours. :)
Didn't know about that green stuff though.
Thanks so much for this! I'll be watching the rest of the series as the day goes on. I hear so many great things about Crusader Kings 2 and started to play last night and the tutorial is nothing short of useless. Learned quite a bit on just this first video.
Lol played around in game for 2-3 hours aimlessly, 17 mins of your video and im going pro.
Thank you so much man. I was a guy who plays and mods Dwarf Fortress and yet I did not find time to learn how to play CK yet. Your videos are that kick which was needed to start the ball of understanding rolling! Eternal gratitude to you.
So glad to see CKII back even if it's just a tutorial =)
Still an absolute gem a decade later. I'm gonna enjoy binging this series.
I wonder if there will be an updated version of this series. Some of the menus in these videos are outdated.
+TheCybercoco also some very interesting DLC's have been released that change the game quite a bit. So agreed I would love to see a new updated tutorial
Conclave is shit :I*
I am just coming back to attempt to play Crusader Kings for the third time having got so lost previously. This series looks great. Thanks for taking the time to prepare the tutorials.
would be nice if you put in the title what topic you bring up in each tutorial video
I made a habit of viewing all of your videos, as soon as they go online. You have some really good series and it's basically thanks to you that I've got into Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis. Keep up the good work, Arumba! :)
How are you playing as Ireland in 867 and starting with a feudal lord? If i start in 867 i'm a tribe.
However, the names of the leader are different, and also my County is called Deasmhumhain rather than Desmond . . . what gives?
+Chris Rud yeah i'm wondering the same thing, must be some mod he is using that he didn't mention running
+Chris Rud Deasmhumhain is Irish for Desmond.
+Chris Rud I was wondering the same thing too.
+alanguk did anyone figure this out?
+Chris Rud Did anyone figure this part out?>
The first 8min explanation alone of how counties work helped me immensely!
yessss finally a tutorial of crusader kings
You sir are my savior. I has try many times and never can really get into CK2 (and my friends say that if you can play Total War, you "totally"can play CK2) but with your help, i has push through. So thank you.
I've played this game for 350+ hours, yet I could never get past the first couple members of my Dynasty because it was hard to really understand. I write books for a living- massive complicated books with a metric shit-ton of lore- but I couldn't wrap my head around this game until watching this series. From the very core of my being as a gamer Arumba, thank you.
got my friend into ck2 today and gave her the link to your tutorial series because its the best on you tube .
yaay,finally again a CKII series~!
I've watched you for about a year (Since e Old Gods came out and I have never once played any paradox game but learned so much from watching you and other youtubers and this has become quite an enjoyable game for me despite never playing it so basically great series and great channel
_I'll get this game, it looks just as complex as HOI4_
*watches this tutorial and how many episodes there are*
_mother of god_
Nice!
Can you do this with Europa universalis 4? I've had the game for a few months and Still have no idea how to play.
10/10 for an excellent, well-thought out, clear tutorial. Just bought the game and knew I'd need a tutorial - couldn't have asked for anything better. Thanks.
I wish I had a PC
Then what are you watching this on? .-.
LetumComplexo A phone possibly, or a console.
IfJesusWoreAHat I suppose so. But if he has a phone he can watch this on how is it he can't afford a PC? Heck, now days the bottom line computers are less than a hundred dollars.
LetumComplexo "PCs? Those are for turbo-nerds. Wait you can play games on them!? Now i'm wishing I bought a PC instead!"
You can play CK2 and EU4 on macs too
I just want to echo other comments: thank you so much for this.
***** for example, a Saxon couldn't create and rule as the emperor of rus even if he had all the de jour titles because his culture was wrong
due to a patch some time ago, cultural restrictions on Kingdoms/empires was removed ON A MAJORITY of them. TLDR: yes you can form Poland as an Irishman or vice versa, hell same thing for forming Greece or Germany
amr2201 can the empire of Scandinavia be formed from a different cultural group?
Mike Thepiper i've done it as mande to yes.
I just got this game and these are going to come in very handy. You have earned the gratitude of the Great, Old Ones.
Finally.
On that note, here are things I would like to see covered eventually:
1) how to best dole out counties and duchies when at the limits ("too many duchies", "demesne size too large" -- Relatives? Counts only? Vassal Kings?)
2) how to best get rid of unwanted kids or siblings from inheritance
3) switching wrong holding types, dealing with baronies + bishoprics smartly
4) religion and culture conversions (any updates to previous guides?)
5) traits and how to get them (the good ones) or lose them (the bad ones)
6) breeding congenital traits and how genetics work in your dynasty
7) inviting claimants, pressing their claims, ensuring they'll be your vassals
8) the life and struggle as a one-province count in an empire, HOWTO
9) how to do factions best and have the right ones pop up when needed
10) when to do plots and have them be available at all at the right moment
11) how to keep liege revocations away (join a faction?)
12) how to get good councilors (invite to court, fake marriage, etc.)
etc. pp.
berlindude75 Nice one those are all points that could do with some coverage
Tutorials from the master himself ;) Perhaps even after 1000 hours of gameplay I'll learn something I haven't yet seen him do in the 9 months I've watched him ;) To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised!
+Arumba where do I install your GUI and shortcut mod?
It doesn't help that EU4 seems to actively hide information that you need to know to make good decisions.
eu 4 is quite simple, whatch other youtubers and after a month playing you'll be good
i have opposite "feelings" in EU4 I see every information i need to know but in CK2 i have to search for things that in EU4 i see in seconds.
This game is interesting enough and complicated enough that 100 years from now people will still be searching for the tutorial!
de jeur means in law, de facto means in fact. saved you 10 min.
So belle de jour de facto means morning glory? 🤣🤣🤣
Sounds fun
I've been waiting for a proper tutorial series for quite some time! Keep it up!
You're not pronouncing "de jure" right, it should be "de yure". I'm happy you've decided to make a tutorial series for CK2, I love EU4 but I haven't really tried CK2, maybe I will after learning how the game works and what can be done
I've played around 200 hrs of ck2 and watched a ton of videos. Never heard it pronounced 'de yure' only the way arumbas pronouncing it....
It's a french pronunciation so its "de jure", not "de yure"
***** It's not french, it's Latin
Isn't closer to De Jur-ay?
Well actually... This is not how its pronounced in english, in english its how Arumba does it.
Having gamer A.D.D.,
I'm replaying CK2 again and watching your tutorial vids for the 4th time around.
Thank you so much for making these!
His name in portuguese is obscene '-'
Arumba's name? Because I'm brazilian and I cannot see anything obscene about it. Maybe in Portugal? EDIT: ohh, the cú guy... hahaha
No,the cú guy is obscene
Awesome that you are doing a series like this. I have played maybe 1-200 hours over the years of CK II. But usually stall out or stop playing for awhile around mid game, making 1-2 Kingdoms. Then come back and start a new game. So hopefully this series will go through all the way to the end and will go in depth about 3x king control and empire control.
bought this game today...Worst fucking decision of my life.
Pete Elite Yeah well this aint the Sims or age of empires you really need to study to master this game...
Yeah well after crying for day over this game I finally got the hang of it. Nearly got over 150 hours of it and it is SO ADDICTIVE.
Who doesn't >:)
+TheCommunistColin I remember seducing my sister as the King of León (she had a claim) to avoid a rebellion
Who needs CK 2 to do that?
Great to see you do a tutorial like this for CK2. I have several friends who have purchased it (either humble bundles or when on sale) that can't seem to grasp certain things in the game. I already linked them to keep an eye on these as I think it will give them a better understanding and hopefully turn them into fans of the series :)
Shit Nigga Damn! A 22 episode tutorial?!
Thank you for taking the time to walk us through this. It was very informative and helpful. Clear and concise. It is appreciated. Thanks.
THABK GOD I FOUND THIS
hmm. sorry. got a bit excited
I couldn't even FIND the in-game tutorial... I tried to play and couldn't figure out how to do anything at all - AT ALL. So I'm THRILLED that these videos exist!! THANK YOU SO MUCH
who came here after the game became free?
Aye, I bought some dlc too
hi, i played crusader kings years ago but never really "got it". Now that i am older i came back to it and have been playing all weekend. I understand a lot of it and can take counties and learned how to breed my way into taking over lots of land. With that said, just watching this video has already filled in a lot of the gaps i never really understood about the game. Thanks for the upload!
Very glad you got around to starting this, Arumba! Just what I needed to enjoy both watching and playing CK2 more! :)
Great idea Arumba, there's only so much you can learn on your own and by watching playthroughs
