I just want this switch 2 to have fun games, I don’t think Nintendo is best known for it graphics, yes they do need something more powerful and strong but I think they are more focused on your enjoyment while playing instead of anything
TBH for a long time Nintendo were known for making powerful systems, NES, through to the Gamecube were capable systems, compared to the competition and having a certain standard of hardware performance or performance freeing features would basically give Nintendo a bigger canvas to make those gameplay features and make the overall experience of their systems better. At the very least their using DLSS titles like Zelda Tears of The Kingdom should easily output at 4K 120FPS, with modern games not being vastly cut back ports to be shoehorned onto the platform. Nintendo has to know how that if they give their customers a device that will play everything that's available from 3rd Party devs and their own exclusives, they will gain the maximum install possible. Literally the only thing Nintendo systems lack is comparable performance, which is certainly achievable if Nintendo wants to make it happen, especially now that they use NVidia as their hardware partner.

It's more likely they'll have a Lite version as the second sku. I can't see them doing digital only console. I hope they fix the eShop when they do release this. I avoid using it on the system, browsing is so much faster on a PC.
I definitely prefer physical stuff. I always buy physical copies of games if they're available. I just like them and you can switch them between different consoles easier.

The great thing about dlss is its ai software based, so they can upgrade the software during the lifecycle of the hardware. For instance i have a 4090, running dlss 3.0, then they brought out dlss 3.5 for the ray tracing and path tracing, a software ai upgrade, and it performs even better. So the potential that any new switch with the most up to date dlss can be updated in mid term revisions and be even better. Its genius. If they can get UE5 running on switch 2, its then gives exposure to nanite and lumin technology too, hence the matrix demo. So this is a powerful combination. Lets put it this way, my laptop with this tech in it, its absolutely creaming my ps5 in terms of visuals...in a laptop! And i can see why some sectors are saying switch 2 could be comparable to ps5. If the pro ps5 materialises then perhaps not, but ps5 came out before dlss took off, so this will close the gap to ps5 and allow for all modern games to run on it.
That would be cool as long as they can do 2 things: 1. They won't gatekeep the software update so that only specific developers can utilize it for making new games. (EPIC got sued for something like this after the original Gears of War came out and it was found that EPIC had their own secret exploits within Unreal Engine that made EPIC's games developed in that engine look better than other developers who paid them to license the engine.) 2. They won't keep the software update exclusive to Nintendo online plus subscribers.

However, I could see some game engines such as unreal preforming better on the switch 2 due to their partnerships with nividia, but nintendo would want as many people as possible to be using the latest DLSS builds. 2) I have never seen console performance gated behind a subscription before as similar to the first point, you want to make things easier for devs and Nintendo studios.
@ryanwilhite agreed. Nvidia themselves gatekeep the tech to 40 series cards, clearly to sell the 40's. Its proven that dlss updates would work on 30 series so it's naughty of them. So yes absolutely I can see your point on this. I hope its not the case. I can't see it being implemented into online subs only. This would be not be beneficial to nintendo business model and be seen as anti consumer. This is a chance to catch up technologically with current gen consoles and need to sell masses of the new switch 2 when it drops. If they announce a paywall on this tech, sales will dump imo. I never rule out any game companies ability to be anticonsumer, though. It's very exciting times for nintendo. I'm intrigued with what is coming.
I would like to see the original Switch transformed into a retro game console. The Switch launched with less power than other consoles but clearly provided years of fun. If a new Nintendo console comes out I'd like to see it focus on modern games while remakes and re-releases could keep coming out for years to come on the original Switch. I'd also like to see as big a jump as from GameCube to Wii instead of just a bigger/faster Switch.
Personally I only have a few physical games. Now I only do digital games because it is easier for me. Having to version of the switch 2 would be cool so if you like physical games you can get one version and if you like digital games like me you can get that version.
I think we're going to see different versions of the switch 2 because everything is going digital. With the graphics for the next switch we really don't know what it will be yet so all we can do is speculate what we think it can be.

doing physical ports over to switch in general would probly be quite difficult as the original kingdom hearts was a ps2 game. diffrent cpus and gpus. i would imagine they would have to do what they did with games like spyro and crash.
I’d love a console and a handheld. The console without a screen could look like a PC engine with cartridge/cards meant for a tv with 4k. Then you’d have a handheld with 1080p screen

There's just so much worthy competition now for another Switch. I'm willing to bet that currently available tech is already more powerful than whatever is in R&D for Nintendo. Nintendo is used to having some reason for why they exist despite competition: 1.) The titles. 2.) The price to performance, 3.) Masterful use of tech to get around being so weak in pure digital HP. 4.) Nostalgia Well, the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, all the retro/emulators like Anbernic, etc., why buy a new underpowered (likely) Nintendo product? I have a Switch, Switch OLED, and Lite, but my Deck is what's played the absolute most. The Ally is still too janked by Windows, but my Switches are Zelda and Mario (I only emulate what's out of print) machines. The most cost-effective VR is likely Quest, and Nintendo isn't touching that. Docked, the Switch was behind contemporary consoles by a gen or two upon release. Their controllers set records for price as well as stick drift. The original docks scratched the original screens. There's much more, but: Why buy a new Switch? The titles are the only reason I have left as their hardware is, well, booty now and kinda was at launch. Why would you buy one?
A Switch 2 Lite would be awesome. Maybe with a 6.1' 720p screen, smaller bezels, and OLED screen so it can have a bigger battery while remaining a slim console. But likely it's not coming all that soon.

SOUNDS like RGT is using AMD GPU hardware (like ps5, and XBOX series x is) Ray tracing lowers you frame rate only if you meet one of these conditions. 1, you don't have a Nvidia brand GPU. 2, You dont have model rtx3050 or higher Nvidia GPU. 3, your using dlss drivers less than 2.0 If you Have Nvidia GPU and DLSS 2.0 or higher and, it is rtx3050 or higher using RAY tracing turns on the MANY tensor cores and they perform RAY tracing and increase your frame rate. That is what your seeing in those videos your showing!
I'm still not convinced that DLSS is somehow magically gonna make the Switch 2 not feel a bit outdated in a few years - sure, FSR is still slightly behind DLSS at this point as I understand it, but look how old hardware a given version FSR will run on relative to when it's introduced and look how often a given version of DLSS requires the latest (or next latest maybe) NVidia cards to run. From where I'm sitting, it looks an awful lot like games on the Switch 2 are probably gonna be choosing between FSR 5 or 6 or 7 and DLSS 3.5 (maybe 4.0 tops) in a few years, negating this supposed advantage since FSR runs on almost everything. Unless anyone is seriously expecting developers to stack both somehow, which probably wouldn't look great.
I would definitely be more interested in a Switch 2 that’s TV only. I never take my Switch on the go, not in the 7 years I’ve owned it. Especially if it was the “budget” model. It’s going to be tough, because I’m also strongly considering the Quest 3.

I knew a switch 2 would come. I thought it was the oled that came out once I bought an original grey switch. Wasn’t happy. It was just over 3 years ago. Anyway the point I’m making is I’ll be buying the switch 2 regardless off power of graphics. I’m a console collector as I’ve said before but my son will get it all. Once he turned 3 he started playing on my brand new switch and then claimed it. He’s owned it ever since. Once this switch 2 comes out I will buy it for him and put the other away like all the other consoles
I don't see Nintendo going with a digital only console. Physical copies of indie games is what makes the switch a popular console. If they don't offer this , then how are they any different than the other consoles. They are just a less powerful copy of the competition.

I believe the 2 SKU approach but not an all digital version more like a cheaper, smaller screen LCD meant for players that play mostly on TV and the other with a bigger OLED screen, better speakers for people that mostly play on the go. I imagine both SKUs with similar power.
why? we have ps5 and ps5 digital, xbox series x and series s, soon xbox will have series x, series x digital and series s. with digital consoles outselling the ones with disk drives. nintendo is a company out for profits first and foremost.
I still can't wrap my brain around how a digital only sku doesn't make sense. Even if we are looking at the Japanese market where consumers are still predominantly biased towards physical media, we are using a lagging indicator. The reason many companies follow the Japanese market (Nintendo included) is because it is often a leading indicator of adoption. Sure this may raise questions about why Japan is lagging specifically in digital adoption, but that is a different conversation. There are many advantages to releasing an all digital system for Nintendo. From a manufacturing standpoint it is easier and cheaper to manufacture and has less components (so less component shortages). Nintendo sells more games by getting more consoles into consumer hands, so providing a digital only version allows them to ramp up production early on when demand is guaranteed to outpace supply. I also can't understand the logic that a consumer would buy less games because they are digital. The problem is largely in the opposite direction where Nintendo gets exactly none of the profit from the second hand / resale market. Consumers are going to buy the games they most want to play at the rate they generally play through them (by and large). To that point, providing a digital only option when supply is heavily constrained kind of forces adoption of digital only consoles. I want the Switch 2 that I can get my hands on the fastest above whether it's physical or digital. So this move simultaneously removes a potential manufacturing bottleneck while also increasing games sales by cutting out the second hand market. I'm not saying I'm a huge fan of it. I'm not saying it is some anti-consumer money grab from Nintendo. All I'm saying is that it makes good business sense.
digital console wont happen cause carts for switch can go up to 64gb switch 2 should offer more. and using carts allows nintendo to cheap out on the physical memory in a console for storage. other reason is backwards compatibility Nintendo's wants to keep selling older games as well as new and wants to attract switch users to a new console. if they made a all digital console of a switch at the start then maybe people would buy it. and a all digital console and a cart model wont exist cause people will buy the cart model why cause its backwards compatible. if the switch 2 isnt backwards compatible then nintendo will be shooting themselves in the foot.
@@jamv2122 you do realize that carts by and large are just low cost eMMC storage wrapped in an interface right? You do also realize that digital game purchases make Nintendo more money than physical game purchases right? The only way the opposite is true is if the individual buying rate of carts is greater than 1 which is ridiculous. People very rarely buy the same game multiple times, but people often buy used games or trade. So not only does Nintendo pony up for the manufacturing, but that absorbed cost comes with the side effect of added opportunity cost from the resale market (which Nintendo gets no piece of). Also, a digital edition doesn't lack backwards compatibility... if you already own a digital copy of the game. There is already a large enough population of people that prefer the advantages of buying digitally to justify this variant. The fact that it inherently creates buyers remorse for anyone heavily invested in carts is a bonus. The fact that it eliminates potential production bottlenecks in manufacturing is a win. The fact that it encourages adoption of digital game purchases is a great side effect. The fact that it will force a small subset of the population to re-buy games they already own because they didn't want to wait till they could get their hands on the other variant is an unfortunate, but still profitable consequence. The notion that they are saving money by removing flash memory from their consoles is laughably absurd... and I haven't even touched on how eMMC storage may actually be too slow to support future games. So those precious cartridges may either require you to install the game locally in the same way discs have had to do it for a while now, or Nintendo is eating the cost of more expensive flash memory... which one do you think is more likely?
There's nothing much more I want from a switch 2 to be honest, for me the nintendo switch has had the best first party quality games I can remember. The metacritic ratings even say so, we've been spoilt with the nintendo switch exclusive games and it looks like this year still has more to offer, especially with wonder and rpg. Nintendo are magic with making amazing and beautiful games with their hardware time and time again. I'm lucky enough to own multiple systems, from megadrive to series x and switch is definitely my favourite system of all time. A new zelda in 4k would be amazing though but there's plenty in the tank with the aged hardware yet as tears of the kingdom has proved ( the scope of that game and the general "wow" I didn't know that worked or the "wow" a entire new area to look at never gets old). Long live nintendo no matter what they bring next

I never wanna buy digital. I wanna own the physical copy. The only way they should do digital would be if the games were at least half the price since you never get to own the games you buy in digital. No chance to trade or resell. So they’d need to do at least half price to make me even consider the idea of digital.
I have a pretty solid PC so I haven't really ran into this issue with DLSS but I've heard going from 20fps to 90fps (Like the cyberpunk clip shows) with frame gen isn't really ideal since the input lag will be so bad. I will say that DLSS is pretty solid though even if it only takes you from 50 fps to 60+.
I lost interest in graphics at least a generation ago. I just want to play a fun game. It works for me because I am now playing things like Spyro reignited for ps4 for less than $10 on physical. The graphics are fine, the framerate is fine, the price is tremendous and I'm ok with that. Why folk want the latest tech at $70 a game to enjoy themselves is bewildering to me. Not to mention keep on buying new game consoles that cost a few hundered dollars and buy controllers for $60+ each. The only game I buy new these days are Japanese imports. For everything local I just wait for the price to come down. Back in the PS1/N64 era I was an importer from Japan buying up everything before official release, now I've done a complete U-turn. As long as games are played on TV screens, i'm happy being a generation behind these days.

I think that next Nintendo Switch will have uma revision that only have slot for Nintendo SwitchUP cartridge but not for actual Nintendo Switch. It is only digital but only for old Nintendo Switch games.
I love my switch lite. Been on it for a pretty long time. I really liked the oled switch when if came out. But why even consider that now when the switch 2 is around the corner. I dont mind lesser graffics too to a certain degree. That was never what drew me to nintendo
One thing that’s definitely for sure is that Switch 2 will have DLSS. Games will look great and run great. Honestly I could careless about Ray Tracing. If it does support it that’s just icing on the cake. I want good battery life and decent loading times.
I can't see a Switch 2 all digital because they are consumers out there who has cartridges for the Switch not just digital. So with saying that, I don't think making nor bringing an all digital Switch 2 is not a good idea. Also, is the Switch 2 going to be backwards compatible?
4:17 "... of it because it allows lower-end Hardware to do some very very impressive ..." This is wrong. It is not what DLSS was made, marketed or designed to do. DLSS improves framerates it does not improve the base hardware capability and it is not as effective on lower end hardware. For it to run a game at 60FPS at 4K the game needs the hardware to run the game at 4K at 30 - 50 FPS as you will still need to be running the 4k settings (especially for textures) to get DLSS to give a good result.
i have an unpopular opinion: dlss is great, chip performance upgrade is great. but i still hope they let us have eco mode for handheld at 720p lowest (not 300p like in xenoblade 2 chronicle handheld mode (sometimes)).

5:55 I'm gonna stop him right there. No. Dock is absolutely not "sharper" than handheld. The PPI for the 720p screen is massive. It has significantly less jaggies and undocked handles motion a lot better than what you get with docked mode. Not sure what black magic is going on but there's too much stutter on anything you play it on. RGB, you are absolutely wrong on this one.

Man I need to hurry up and start my switch 2 channel. Steam deck is THE digital only system. Nintendo cannot compete with that, they shouldn’t. They have a different market entirely. I have my switch specifically to play physical games. I would have zero interest in a digital only Nintendo console. I can’t imagine it selling well anywhere when you could just buy a steam deck instead, which no doubt would still be more versatile and powerful. The industry is making a push for digital only, don’t go along with it. I’m fine with digital as an option, it is convenient and I love my steam deck. I’ll always prefer to own physical games. I love cool box art, reading inserts and looking at illustrations. If you don’t have the option to sell a game if you decide to, or trade it in, then you don’t own that game.
It won't be called the switch 2. Nintendo has never called any system they have made 2. And I've seen leaks for every system and they were never right. Remember the Switch leaks after the Wii U came out? They were wild. The Wii U was supposed to be backwards compatible with every physical game ever made for every old Nintendo console.
You talk up how great dlss is but it has its own issues. You can easily find videos showing graphical tearing and messed up sprites while using it on pc. If we get a new switch predecessor and we are forced on dlss all the time is this gonna be an issue? I hope between now and then it does improve and works better then it is currently.. Ray tracing I think looks amazing and really makes games look so much nicer. You can't say you don't like it because it kills frame rates...you need a more powerful gpu to actually use it. I know the average consumer isn't running out and buying 4080 or 4090s but that's when you can see it shine with a nice frame rate.

This is a chance to catch up technologically with current gen consoles and need to sell masses of the new switch 2 when it drops. If they announce a paywall on this tech, sales will dump imo.

I would like to see the original Switch transformed into a retro game console. The Switch launched with less power than other consoles but clearly provided years of fun. If a new Nintendo console comes out I'd like to see it focus on modern games while remakes and re-releases could keep coming out for years to come on the original Switch.
I'd also like to see as big a jump as from GameCube to Wii instead of just a bigger/faster Switch.
Personally I only have a few physical games. Now I only do digital games because it is easier for me. Having to version of the switch 2 would be cool so if you like physical games you can get one version and if you like digital games like me you can get that version.

I think we're going to see different versions of the switch 2 because everything is going digital. With the graphics for the next switch we really don't know what it will be yet so all we can do is speculate what we think it can be.
There'll be two versions. A cloud version and a physical games version.

I'm playing through KH2 for the first time, and I already want physical ports too.
doing physical ports over to switch in general would probly be quite difficult as the original kingdom hearts was a ps2 game. diffrent cpus and gpus. i would imagine they would have to do what they did with games like spyro and crash.
You'll have to do some more research on AMD's fidelityfx super resolution 3 and its improvement over what Nintendo previously utilized in their games.

There's just so much worthy competition now for another Switch.
I'm willing to bet that currently available tech is already more powerful than whatever is in R&D for Nintendo. Nintendo is used to having some reason for why they exist despite competition:
1.) The titles.
2.) The price to performance,
3.) Masterful use of tech to get around being so weak in pure digital HP.
4.) Nostalgia
Well, the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, all the retro/emulators like Anbernic, etc., why buy a new underpowered (likely) Nintendo product? I have a Switch, Switch OLED, and Lite, but my Deck is what's played the absolute most. The Ally is still too janked by Windows, but my Switches are Zelda and Mario (I only emulate what's out of print) machines. The most cost-effective VR is likely Quest, and Nintendo isn't touching that. Docked, the Switch was behind contemporary consoles by a gen or two upon release. Their controllers set records for price as well as stick drift. The original docks scratched the original screens. There's much more, but:
Why buy a new Switch? The titles are the only reason I have left as their hardware is, well, booty now and kinda was at launch. Why would you buy one?
A Switch 2 Lite would be awesome. Maybe with a 6.1' 720p screen, smaller bezels, and OLED screen so it can have a bigger battery while remaining a slim console. But likely it's not coming all that soon.

SOUNDS like RGT is using AMD GPU hardware (like ps5, and XBOX series x is) Ray tracing lowers you frame rate only if you meet one of these conditions. 1, you don't have a Nvidia brand GPU. 2, You dont have model rtx3050 or higher Nvidia GPU. 3, your using dlss drivers less than 2.0 If you Have Nvidia GPU and DLSS 2.0 or higher and, it is rtx3050 or higher using RAY tracing turns on the MANY tensor cores and they perform RAY tracing and increase your frame rate. That is what your seeing in those videos your showing!
I'm still not convinced that DLSS is somehow magically gonna make the Switch 2 not feel a bit outdated in a few years - sure, FSR is still slightly behind DLSS at this point as I understand it, but look how old hardware a given version FSR will run on relative to when it's introduced and look how often a given version of DLSS requires the latest (or next latest maybe) NVidia cards to run. From where I'm sitting, it looks an awful lot like games on the Switch 2 are probably gonna be choosing between FSR 5 or 6 or 7 and DLSS 3.5 (maybe 4.0 tops) in a few years, negating this supposed advantage since FSR runs on almost everything. Unless anyone is seriously expecting developers to stack both somehow, which probably wouldn't look great.

I would definitely be more interested in a Switch 2 that’s TV only. I never take my Switch on the go, not in the 7 years I’ve owned it. Especially if it was the “budget” model. It’s going to be tough, because I’m also strongly considering the Quest 3.
Taking it on the go is how most people play it though. That’s what was so cool about it. Otherwise the other consoles are way better.

I knew a switch 2 would come. I thought it was the oled that came out once I bought an original grey switch. Wasn’t happy. It was just over 3 years ago. Anyway the point I’m making is I’ll be buying the switch 2 regardless off power of graphics. I’m a console collector as I’ve said before but my son will get it all. Once he turned 3 he started playing on my brand new switch and then claimed it. He’s owned it ever since. Once this switch 2 comes out I will buy it for him and put the other away like all the other consoles

I don't see Nintendo going with a digital only console. Physical copies of indie games is what makes the switch a popular console. If they don't offer this , then how are they any different than the other consoles. They are just a less powerful copy of the competition.

xavier makes sense to me cause its tdp isnt huge 10-15w and was made in 2019 assuming that the switch has been in testing stages since 2020 and production started in 2021 ( covid etc probly delayed it) alot of people say orin but to me that sounds alot of rubbish. 1. its very new 2. Nintendo never goes for newer hardware. 1. to keep it cheap 2. the tdp for orin is kind of all over the place from 15-40w is there only model of that chip i could see being in a switch the other reason i doubt orin is the ddr5 memory.

I believe the 2 SKU approach but not an all digital version more like a cheaper, smaller screen LCD meant for players that play mostly on TV and the other with a bigger OLED screen, better speakers for people that mostly play on the go. I imagine both SKUs with similar power.
why? we have ps5 and ps5 digital, xbox series x and series s, soon xbox will have series x, series x digital and series s. with digital consoles outselling the ones with disk drives. nintendo is a company out for profits first and foremost.

I still can't wrap my brain around how a digital only sku doesn't make sense. Even if we are looking at the Japanese market where consumers are still predominantly biased towards physical media, we are using a lagging indicator. The reason many companies follow the Japanese market (Nintendo included) is because it is often a leading indicator of adoption. Sure this may raise questions about why Japan is lagging specifically in digital adoption, but that is a different conversation. There are many advantages to releasing an all digital system for Nintendo. From a manufacturing standpoint it is easier and cheaper to manufacture and has less components (so less component shortages). Nintendo sells more games by getting more consoles into consumer hands, so providing a digital only version allows them to ramp up production early on when demand is guaranteed to outpace supply. I also can't understand the logic that a consumer would buy less games because they are digital. The problem is largely in the opposite direction where Nintendo gets exactly none of the profit from the second hand / resale market. Consumers are going to buy the games they most want to play at the rate they generally play through them (by and large). To that point, providing a digital only option when supply is heavily constrained kind of forces adoption of digital only consoles. I want the Switch 2 that I can get my hands on the fastest above whether it's physical or digital. So this move simultaneously removes a potential manufacturing bottleneck while also increasing games sales by cutting out the second hand market. I'm not saying I'm a huge fan of it. I'm not saying it is some anti-consumer money grab from Nintendo. All I'm saying is that it makes good business sense.
digital console wont happen cause carts for switch can go up to 64gb switch 2 should offer more. and using carts allows nintendo to cheap out on the physical memory in a console for storage. other reason is backwards compatibility Nintendo's wants to keep selling older games as well as new and wants to attract switch users to a new console. if they made a all digital console of a switch at the start then maybe people would buy it. and a all digital console and a cart model wont exist cause people will buy the cart model why cause its backwards compatible. if the switch 2 isnt backwards compatible then nintendo will be shooting themselves in the foot.
@@jamv2122 you do realize that carts by and large are just low cost eMMC storage wrapped in an interface right? You do also realize that digital game purchases make Nintendo more money than physical game purchases right? The only way the opposite is true is if the individual buying rate of carts is greater than 1 which is ridiculous. People very rarely buy the same game multiple times, but people often buy used games or trade. So not only does Nintendo pony up for the manufacturing, but that absorbed cost comes with the side effect of added opportunity cost from the resale market (which Nintendo gets no piece of). Also, a digital edition doesn't lack backwards compatibility... if you already own a digital copy of the game. There is already a large enough population of people that prefer the advantages of buying digitally to justify this variant. The fact that it inherently creates buyers remorse for anyone heavily invested in carts is a bonus. The fact that it eliminates potential production bottlenecks in manufacturing is a win. The fact that it encourages adoption of digital game purchases is a great side effect. The fact that it will force a small subset of the population to re-buy games they already own because they didn't want to wait till they could get their hands on the other variant is an unfortunate, but still profitable consequence. The notion that they are saving money by removing flash memory from their consoles is laughably absurd... and I haven't even touched on how eMMC storage may actually be too slow to support future games. So those precious cartridges may either require you to install the game locally in the same way discs have had to do it for a while now, or Nintendo is eating the cost of more expensive flash memory... which one do you think is more likely?

There's nothing much more I want from a switch 2 to be honest, for me the nintendo switch has had the best first party quality games I can remember. The metacritic ratings even say so, we've been spoilt with the nintendo switch exclusive games and it looks like this year still has more to offer, especially with wonder and rpg. Nintendo are magic with making amazing and beautiful games with their hardware time and time again. I'm lucky enough to own multiple systems, from megadrive to series x and switch is definitely my favourite system of all time. A new zelda in 4k would be amazing though but there's plenty in the tank with the aged hardware yet as tears of the kingdom has proved ( the scope of that game and the general "wow" I didn't know that worked or the "wow" a entire new area to look at never gets old). Long live nintendo no matter what they bring next

I never wanna buy digital. I wanna own the physical copy. The only way they should do digital would be if the games were at least half the price since you never get to own the games you buy in digital. No chance to trade or resell. So they’d need to do at least half price to make me even consider the idea of digital.
I have a pretty solid PC so I haven't really ran into this issue with DLSS but I've heard going from 20fps to 90fps (Like the cyberpunk clip shows) with frame gen isn't really ideal since the input lag will be so bad.
I will say that DLSS is pretty solid though even if it only takes you from 50 fps to 60+.

I lost interest in graphics at least a generation ago. I just want to play a fun game. It works for me because I am now playing things like Spyro reignited for ps4 for less than $10 on physical. The graphics are fine, the framerate is fine, the price is tremendous and I'm ok with that. Why folk want the latest tech at $70 a game to enjoy themselves is bewildering to me. Not to mention keep on buying new game consoles that cost a few hundered dollars and buy controllers for $60+ each. The only game I buy new these days are Japanese imports. For everything local I just wait for the price to come down. Back in the PS1/N64 era I was an importer from Japan buying up everything before official release, now I've done a complete U-turn. As long as games are played on TV screens, i'm happy being a generation behind these days.

I love my switch lite. Been on it for a pretty long time. I really liked the oled switch when if came out. But why even consider that now when the switch 2 is around the corner. I dont mind lesser graffics too to a certain degree. That was never what drew me to nintendo
One thing that’s definitely for sure is that Switch 2 will have DLSS. Games will look great and run great. Honestly I could careless about Ray Tracing. If it does support it that’s just icing on the cake. I want good battery life and decent loading times.

I can't see a Switch 2 all digital because they are consumers out there who has cartridges for the Switch not just digital. So with saying that, I don't think making nor bringing an all digital Switch 2 is not a good idea. Also, is the Switch 2 going to be backwards compatible?

4:17 "... of it because it allows lower-end Hardware to do some very very impressive ..." This is wrong. It is not what DLSS was made, marketed or designed to do. DLSS improves framerates it does not improve the base hardware capability and it is not as effective on lower end hardware.
For it to run a game at 60FPS at 4K the game needs the hardware to run the game at 4K at 30 - 50 FPS as you will still need to be running the 4k settings (especially for textures) to get DLSS to give a good result.

i have an unpopular opinion: dlss is great, chip performance upgrade is great. but i still hope they let us have eco mode for handheld at 720p lowest (not 300p like in xenoblade 2 chronicle handheld mode (sometimes)).
We will rocket towards a digital only console when stores start deciding to stop carrying physical copies of games like Best Buy.
Best Buy is only dropping physical movies and TV shows. For now anyway.

I would absolutely love to see games like Legend of Zelda games updated to say the latest PS5 or Xbox Series X graphics. Nintendo graphics are a good 20 years behind everyone else. I love Nintendo using Cartridges and all, but the graphics are in need of a serious update!

5:55 I'm gonna stop him right there. No. Dock is absolutely not "sharper" than handheld. The PPI for the 720p screen is massive. It has significantly less jaggies and undocked handles motion a lot better than what you get with docked mode. Not sure what black magic is going on but there's too much stutter on anything you play it on. RGB, you are absolutely wrong on this one.

Man I need to hurry up and start my switch 2 channel. Steam deck is THE digital only system. Nintendo cannot compete with that, they shouldn’t. They have a different market entirely. I have my switch specifically to play physical games. I would have zero interest in a digital only Nintendo console. I can’t imagine it selling well anywhere when you could just buy a steam deck instead, which no doubt would still be more versatile and powerful. The industry is making a push for digital only, don’t go along with it. I’m fine with digital as an option, it is convenient and I love my steam deck. I’ll always prefer to own physical games. I love cool box art, reading inserts and looking at illustrations. If you don’t have the option to sell a game if you decide to, or trade it in, then you don’t own that game.

It won't be called the switch 2. Nintendo has never called any system they have made 2. And I've seen leaks for every system and they were never right. Remember the Switch leaks after the Wii U came out? They were wild. The Wii U was supposed to be backwards compatible with every physical game ever made for every old Nintendo console.

You talk up how great dlss is but it has its own issues. You can easily find videos showing graphical tearing and messed up sprites while using it on pc. If we get a new switch predecessor and we are forced on dlss all the time is this gonna be an issue? I hope between now and then it does improve and works better then it is currently..
Ray tracing I think looks amazing and really makes games look so much nicer. You can't say you don't like it because it kills frame rates...you need a more powerful gpu to actually use it. I know the average consumer isn't running out and buying 4080 or 4090s but that's when you can see it shine with a nice frame rate.
What ever the next switch will be, just lower your expectations and you'll be right.
