- This video, taken from Buick's Competitive Comparison Training Library for 2004, compares the Buick LeSabre Custom 1SE to the Mercury Grand Marquis GS. Compared features include Comfort & Convenience, Power & Performance, Ride & Handling, Quality/Reliability/Durability, and Safety & Security.

the grand marquis wins hands down, its has the crown vics DNA body on frame, 4.6l v8, and RWD, lesabre is a FWD, unibody 3.8l v6, not as durable as the crown vic's platform.
Only thin the mercury wins really is style maybe.
That 3800 is a goat but so it that 4.6.
The Buick is a much more modern car overall. It's a nice combination of traditional comfort while still having decent handling. All of the Grand Marquis' virtues lie in Ford's laziness to update it, not in a desire to make the best car possible.
They both have the wood accents
Both of these cars are great cars and will last a long time if you do the right maintenance on them and fix the issues like the lesabre's cooling tubes and plastic manifold issue.
I changed my cooling tubes the chrome ones and the dealership did all my intake manifold issues with warranty'
O5 Buick Park Avenue SE 3800
I got 2 town cars they win all the time the marquis kills all the buicks dont even need to bring lincoln in this. C'mon rwd on panther platform 4.6 shit they are so reliable too
2000-2005 LeSabre way better!👑😁
Why not compare it to the LS model?
Because then Buick would have to break out the Park Avenue and they wanted to save that comparison for the large European cars
Tire pressure monitor is a pain in the ass on my 2004 Buick Lesabre, goes off even when tire pressure are okay? Cooling tubes on the 2004 Buick Lesabre are plastic, replace them with metal ones, maybe the same for 2000-2005 and some older Lesabres?
changed mys to the metal one's on my 05 Park Avenue
The lesabre may have volume and cruise on the steering wheel but the Marquis has climate control settings which is so convenient and never seen anymore
LeSabre = FWD.
Grand Marquis = RWD.
winner: Grand Marquis. ;)
WesSeid, Incorrect rwd = trash in snow and rain
WesSeid my lesabre limited will DESTROY whatever car u got
Grand marquis: v8....lesabre : weak 6=cyl
@@mikecastellon4545 wanna race in a snow storm on some curvy back roads?
LeSabre for the win! 😏👑
Hummmm.......Top model LaSabre vs base model Grande Marquis. Not really a comparison but a bias advertisement for the Buick.
Why did they use video of the Town Car?
I have a2000 buck it's running good I baut it 2300 hunted dollars I am happy I have it jim
Grand marquis. It has a v8 body on frame rwd.cmon
It stood the test of time better than the Buicks have. Panther body has a name behind it anyways
I have 2011 crown Vic police interceptor and a 2003 Buick lesabre. I’d take the Buick for more of a luxury feel and the GM for more of a stiffer more industrial feel. Both are reliable ah. Buick as a better frame. Rarely here about rust on these Buicks.
Comparing a mainly retail LeSabre to a mainly fleet model Grand Marquis isn't really a fair competition... Of course the Grand Marquis isn't going to have all that extra stuff.
The entire line up of GM is fleet models. Can’t say it ain’t fair. It’s not buick fault cord didn’t want to make the GM a true premium luxury vehicle as they sold it as !
I don't know who came up with this video, but it is misleading the Mercury Grand Marquis
Own both Lesabre better handling vehicle, something not mentioned? Ford vehicles are nortorious for rusting out. Comes down to one preference, if you can't drive doesn't matter what you drive!
@@leoguy1609 Have had worse luck with Buicks rusting out than Panther platform cars, GM trucks rust worse than Ford trucks, though Dodge is worst, I've owned and driven vehicles from the big 3, and GM trucks last long enough to become rust buckets, Ford trucks don't rust nearly as much, and Dodges usually are scrapped before they truly rust out
I'd take the Grand Marquis.
This comparo was GM produced so was biased to begin with. A more fair comparison would have been against the MGM with LS trim instead of the base GS.
One sad FWD against a well known solid RWD, at least compare in same class
Own 2001 LeSabre and magnificent '94 Park Ave 😍. So I prefer Buicks. But the training video is typical empty sales nonsense. Both cars are good. Of course, Toyota is the best (also have 2007 Camry)- but Toyota is so boring that it makes Buicks cool.
nobody changes transmission fluid at 30k that's insane
Oil life monitors are crap, just change it every 3-5000 miles regardless
This was propaganda by Buick. The Grand marquis LS was way better than the buick. Rwd and full size frame with much more utility uses than the buick.
Noway LeSabre for the win! 😏👑
this isn’t even a fair comparison
the Mercury is bigger...
The Buick lasabre is barely a full size sedan the grand marquis is way bigger lmao
The Buick sure isn’t a mid size.
get a real lesabre circa 1968
oh so true....
Yessss
