Sweet ride their scott
i loved my crown vic 4.6 liter
I got myself a beautiful blue lincoln town car 2007 SL with 80k miles. Bought it off a grandma. She was also the original owner… i stole the car for 7,250$.
200 bucks is just insane steal
Yeah it is
Just got to be at the right place at the right time
That it is!!!! I can't believe I found this
Stole it from a charity...it would be ironic if the owner died in a fuel tank fire that has killed so many cops.
Odd that Scotty is unaware of this, he certainly should remember all the lawsuits that were paid by Ford to LEO's in every state.Unlike the Pinto, the Panther fuel tank fix was prohibitively expensive.
So, it was never done on any of them.
I thought my 2006 MGM GS with 53K original miles for $2K was a good deal.
Had an 85 Grand Marquis. It was mint. White with red velour interior. My wife spun out in the rain and wrecked it. We were then gifted a 2001 Lincoln Continental. Not mint but ran great. She wrecked that one too. I then bought a 2005 Grand Marquis with 76,000 miles on it from the estate of a little old lady, 98 yrs. old, who passed away. The car is perfect. Needless to say, my wife will never be allowed to drive it.
😂😂
And I’m over here with my 2011 Crown Victoria running just as smooth! These engines sure are reliable
I love my crown victoria
I love my 08 p71 best car iv evere owned
@@LinolinTC97 I love my 2011 P7B best car I ever owned
same bro i love these vics man
2001 Lincoln Towncar Cartier Cream Color 90k miles just replaced intake manifold and all the Ball Joints&Tire Rods i love it im 25
I am a GM guy .......but still love those old school Ford Lincoln Mercury panther body cars .......rock solid good riding automobiles
I bought a 2000 Grand Marquis with 50,000 miles for $3,000 in perfect shape absolutely best $3,000 I ever spent in my life. Oh yeah 27mpg on the highway!
Your mileage is about what I got in my trips to the beach. I actually got 28 consistently on the 220 mile trip with some of it going two little towns where I had to slow down to 45 and each having a stoplight. 22MPH on the Highway, as stated by Scotty, isn't correct, at least in my long experience with my 99 GM.
My mother in law had a 03 Mercury grand Marquis. Sold it for $3500 with 130000 miles. Ran great. Still does.
99 grand marquis and a 2007 town car in my stable 😎 great cars and great value I absolutely love panther platform cars...
I just got a 98 Grand Marquis with 130000 miles on it. I was looking at newer cars with huge price tags and years of payments and saw this video and thanks to Scotty I am happy with the purchase.
I definitely enjoy my $700 2006 rust free Crown Victoria, and my $2000 Town Car. They run, and run, and run, and run! Plus they are CHEAP to fix!
Was made in my town woot
And just imagine what someone originally paid for those when they were new and what people are still paying for new cars now despite the pandemic.
The only problem is gas mileage since gas is getting expensive
@@nothing9271
Yeah my grandparents have one and leant it to us. Within 3 days of driving the tank was gone. Florida has these roads that are like highways. That’s the thing.
I got a 05 p71 love it
I really love my 03! Just by one today 3,500$ 80k miles ,she’s an 8/10 and im gonna keep it for a loong time🙏
My father got his 08 Crown Vic and picked it up for $300, transmission had to be rebuilt but hey he’s a mechanic so him and his partner fixed it up! Runs beautiful, drove it for a year and half, and now it’s mine. I love it! Did so many mods and upgrades and can’t but get so many compliments from drivers around on my Vic. I’m blessed to have a my father and him to give me his car as my first 😄

@@kskeel1124grammar
Amazing car. My dad had a '97 marquis back in the day. I remember riding in that as a kid and thinking this is smooth!! That platform is bulletproof. Crown Vic, town car, etc. Go Ford!
Have a 09 P71 with 161k miles. Bought it at 140k miles. Always starts up strong and has never left me stranded.
They are popular with senior citizens, and can be found with ultra-low mileage for a great price.
Drive a Florida 2005 Grand Marquis.
185k miles drive for 5 years, only replaced Radiator! Paint is coming off.
Runs forever, rust free!!
Best daily driver, its a tank!
New paint job and drive another 5 years!
I bought one for $600 and it ran like a champ for years. I sold it for $900 5 years later after putting an additional 75,000 miles, total odometer was over 250,000 miles!
I daily drive a 2000 towncar I bought 7 years ago for 300 bucks. It was a retired Vet who long longer had use of his legs and had been sitting in his driveway in south florida with a widow stuck down for 2 years.
All I had to do to get it started was put a new battery in it. It was surreal watching the air suspension blow itself back up. Since then, All I've done outside of basic maintenance is replace a fuel pump and swap out the air suspension bags with a set of monroe struts after a few years since they developed leaks. Collectively this has cost me 500 bucks in repairs and has given me nearly 50k miles and is still going strong.
What I like about Scotty is the way hee valued function over form. Agreed.
Scotty gets on my nerves sometimes. Maybe some Fella will make him a future First 48 victim.
HEE HEE🕺
Mine just turned 100,000 miles. It's mint and sounds like new, cruises like a magic carpet, gets 28 mpg at 70 on flat ground, and hikes up her skirt and sprints when I put my foot down. It's so easy to work on too.
No joke....saw the headline and said “It’s gotta be either a Ford Town car or Grand Marquis”....same of course, but I was right. My friend’s parents had one back in the 80’s and it was indestructible and had a ride like being on a cloud. That thing ran and ran and ran....
As a long time Grand Marquis owner, I thought the same thing.
I have owed several of these and 1 Crown Vic, too. Often got 27 MPG on the Highway. Safe and comfortable in a way modern cars can only dream of.
Bought my folks a Mercury Grand Marquis years ago and they loved it. Once my mom rolled it and that huge yacht landed back on its wheels. She spilled her coffee, but drove that car a few more years!
Lol lol. That Starbucks costs more than gas! Glad your mom was ok.
I've had 1988, 1995, 2004 Grand Marquis. All retired due to New England road salt damage. Engines and transmissions still strong. My current 2007 is a Southern car experiencing its first New England winter, no rust at all. Should last me at least 10 years.
I just bought a 2004 with 83k miles it’s in great condition with no mechanical issues.
how much
@@kp_5945 I got it for 1000 at the auction I buy, and sell cars
You can drive that thing for another 200,000 miles no problem.
@@davidw5380 was it regular auction? u need a liscence to get into the auctions right i wanna go to em
@@kp_5945 I usually go to Car-max auctions I have a dealer license, but I’m under someone. I can still go to what ever auction I want.
Whenever your having a bad day, just put on a Scotty video and before you know that laugh and Donkey in the background will turn your sorrows into Laughter..... 😂🤣👍
you cant beat the panther body Ford Crownvictoria , Mercury Grand Marquise Lincoln also you just cant kill em lots of parts for em all over the 4,6 V8 are bullet proof no wonder taxi and limo use em all the time
Lincoln *Town Car.*
The only one of the land yachts that's still made to this day. And it's aged relatively well. The current design still looks good, despite being awefully curvy.
@@davecrupel2817 it’s not made anymore. Production ended in 2011
Just got a 4.6 Mustang GT 2004 5 speed for this very reason. The toughest coolest most fun and affordable car I could find. The odometer doesn't work but I'm not even concerned at all.
@@davecrupel2817 last towncarr 2011
I have always like them, big, old school, American, V8, real wheel drive car, reliable, comfortable. I like my Camry, Camry’s are good cars overall, but o like their Ford Panther Body cars.
As an owner of a 2003 Grand Marquis with 75K miles, this video makes me proud. I love the panther platform. It’s practically indestructible.
I have a 2004 Lincoln Town Car with 17,000 miles on the clock and a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis with 29,000 miles on the clock. Both amazing machines and super comfortable rides. I bought both these cars based on Scotty's recommendations and paid WAY less than I would for any new car! Thank you so much, Scotty!!
That is a definite bargains
Inflation fighting automotive investments.
I have a 97 town car with 250,000 miles on it still drives like a dream
Those were the most luxurious cars of its time and owned by Limo companies. They just didn't have a huge market reach. They were around 20k less than Mercedes and much better.
Wow rare to find cars that old with that low of mileage
I really like my 2000 Crown Vic P71 with the street package. I did have to put new bushings and ball joints but it's an easy job. 👍
2011 Grand Marquis that looks just like this and basically the same mileage. Had it since January and have had zero issues!
You have the 3800. Legendary engines.
@@DavidSmith-fr1uz Uh... 3800 V6? That's a buick engine. Mine had the 4600 V8.
Sad, a car that good will never be made again by Ford
Ford has seriously gone downhill lately. I'll never own any Ford made after 2008 again.
I would agree this was the last good Ford vehicle. The only other modern car I would consider would be a v8 cougar or a panther body. My 83 mark vi is going strong.
@@warrenwinslow4266 i have a hard time finding cars less than 15 years old that i would buy... but hey what i want is v8 rwd and seat in the back. what would be perfect for me is the crow vics... or even better the cougar/tbird
after they put indepedent suspension in the back of the mustang and it became an overprice POS i wouldnt want one. the 2005-2014 is the last real mustang in my opinion.
ford should just come back with the old style lineup pony cars/compact/midsize/fullzise all available in different trims with 6 and v8 and all rwd...all low tech and way cheaper. everyone and his cousin would want one
id be happy to buy a brand new old style 2 doors fairlane to fullfill my midsize need. they'll never do it because they make the cash with the govt and not with customers ... so if you want a regular car buy a pick up they say...even those are going downhill
I bought my towncar for 500 and put 100,000 miles on her. Brakes once and oil changes that's it.
Yeah I remember the breaks lasted 100k miles on my dad's Grand Marquis.
Scotty, I'm an older wrench turner myself (40+) years. Lol.. Really enjoying your videos. It's almost like watching myself. Oddly, I just returned from NY with a FREE 2005 Lincoln Town Car, 70K on it now since driving home to Florida. Basically the same as this Merc GR Marq. Great cars. And they cruise at high speeds. ;) I had to replace the Alternator also. LOL. Great videos . I watch for the info and entertainment.
How'd you get it for free tho?
The Best was the Plymouth Valiant's with the 225 slant Six's. I sold mine ( 1964 V-200 Signet sedan ) with, 328,000 Miles. And still running strong. I paid $15.00 for it in 1978.
I know a guy who bought a 1973 Dart Swinger for $1000 in 1984, he still has it and it’s got 385,000 miles on it. The old MOPARs A-body cars with the slant 6 were the best and most reliable American cars ever made.
My grandpa had many Crown Vic/Marquis/Ltd until he passed last Oct. 25 mpg isn't impossible. Last one he bought, said he'd keep replacing engine/tranny until he died. He was a whisperer.
Scotty has so much energy and passion...he is such an inspiration!
I'll probably sleep all the time at that age. I do now anyway lol
I just bought the same car....2006.... with 100k. Owned by a 96 year old woman. The interior looks new. I love it! A 2 ton car.... I'm a little nervous about winter driving with RWD....hoping the traction control keeps me. It's like taking a trip on your living room couch.
I've had many cars in my life but my 2002 grand marquis is the best. I just love it.
For 29 years I worked for a Cab/car service company & my boss bought all the crown Vicks and grand Marquis used or old cop cars. In the NYC area. They went 400+ thousand miles with minimum service. Problems, the famous intake manifold, fuel pumps, rear axle bearings. Once in a while the oil filter housing gasket that leaked. Did lots of ball joints.
I have an 06 Town Car. Thing rides like a dream and has been incredibly reliable. Panther platform cars are hard to beat except in gas mileage
If you have a newer car you want to keep looking nice, something like this is nice to have. Drive the cheap car to places like the grocery store where it will get door dings, keep the miles down on your new car. Also, if your insurance company has a multi-car discount, it might not cost much to insure the extra vehicle.
New cars are like marrying beautiful women both needs a lot of money to maintain them
I have my 99 GM as an extra vehicle and it only cost $80.00 a year more.
I just got a 99 crown Victoria for a dollar from a family member. . Runs good.
98 and 99 are great years! They have the older Box steering like a truck. I think today an F250 and up share the same setup
@@alb12345672 good to know. The steering is very light. It takes a minute to get used to it.
I remember when Buick made great cars too. American quality in car manufacturing died when they discontinued the Panther platform.
I don’t want to jinx it.
I was about to buy a new Mercedes and looked into youtube for reviews. After navigating through all the other phoney liars, I came across Scotty.
Scotty changed my mind completely about Cars and how I look at them now.
I now own a used Toyota Corrolla 2005. Runs like charm and doesn’t bite me in the back with any EMI.
Thank you Scotty! You saved me from falling into an endless money pit.
I love my 07 Crown Vic. Now I have my Mom's 97 Town Car. I had to put front brakes, shocks all around, and sway bar end links. She didn't drive any more and it just gathered dust in the garage. Panthers are great cars.
Back in the 70s the marquess was a really super luxury ride
I bought a 2003 Gran Marqis for $2600 with 80,000 country miles on it from my friend who got it from his deceased grandmother. I love it. It drives great. I spent $600-$700 on repairs over the last 5 years and I feel safe with all that steel around me. I know the engine and tranny will last if I change the oil and filters.
Those cars have stood the test of Time. Ive seen these and Crown Vics, Lincolns with over 300k still driving
I have a 2003 Grand Marquis and I tow my 30' travel trailer with it.
I have F150 front suspension on the rear and rear explorer struts on the front. Sway controller, brake controller, trans shift kit, and a towing tune.
These cars are absolutely perfect. I still get 20-22 mpg as well!
It's amazing the quality of many cars built from the mid 90s to the mid 2000s. As great a 10 year period as ever.
I love my old 2005 Crown Victoria police car. She’s old but the most dependable vehicle I’ve ever owned. Only 145000 miles on her but it always fire up and still ride great. Got just under 24 mpg on the highway on a trip to Florida and that was going 70 mph. I’m keeping her till the wheels fall off !
I knew it would be this car. 1999 Crown vic and still strong 💪🏻
My best friend bought an ex state police detectives crown Vic from the state auction. The car has 260k miles with 11,000 engine hours. It runs like a top. Not a tick, knock, nothing! The Ford 4.6 will go forever. I bought a 2004 mustang with 180k miles on it and drove it for another 40k miles and it was it and totaled. Great engines don’t hesitate to buy a car with a 4.6!
Scotty, here's yet another Quick Oil Change horror story. I have never had a problem with one of these quick change places until last week. I noticed that I had a small oil leak? Then within a week, it became a large oil leak. So I looked under the car and realized that the generic white oil filter had a gash in the upper backside, which was spraying oil while the car was running. I took it back to the Quick oil change place and they tried to deny they put a defective oil filter on my car. But they changed the oil again, and I provided a Mobile 1 oil filter. Needless to say that I will go back to changing my own oil.
Pretty sure a young tech tried to take your old one off and got frustrated and forgot to get back to it. Seems like he tried to spin it off with a screw driver and it wouldn’t budge so he left it
Stick with only Motorcraft air, fuel and oil filters, you can't go wrong.
I went back to changing my own oil. I've had 2 cars this year where the lube place over filled my car with too much oil.
Those quick mechanic places hire for cheap labor, most of the time workers have no training as mechanics.
@@Camoflaugepencil That's why when changing your oil, prime the filter with oil. Make sure the old gasket is off where the oil filter goes on. Clean the mating surface where the new filter goes on.
Most important, put a little oil on the new rubber gasket before installing the new filter.
Don't over tighten the filter!
Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
Remember too, where disposable rubber gloves to keep your hands clean, so your skin has less chance of absorbing the old oil or any other chemicals and getting into your body.
Can't say I disagree, my grandfathers 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis is still running strong and he has no plans to get a more modern car. I used to make fun of it, but it truly is an F-150 in car form, (trunk is massive) and the pillow soft ride cant be found in any newer design. He even says he can get 25 mpg on highway trips which isnt bad for such a big heavy car with a V8. Even so, all the money he's saved on repairs/monthly car payment all these years can buy many many tanks of gas.
Scotty’s laugh is just irreplaceable. It’s Godly.
Just hit 153000 miles ( two years of ownership)on my Mercury Grand Marquis LS Ultimate Edition. It's my first car and honestly I'm not trading it for anything only problem I had was the blend door actuator going out. It's not the fastest car but boy it sounds good. Also mine comes with heated seats
Great car and now no more Merc's! ---
Love the old panther platform cars. The first car I ever daily drove was my grandmother's 2000 Lincoln Town Car that she let me use after she could no longer drive. Great car, only real complaint was that you had to - as Scotty says - aim it in the general direction you wanted to go instead of having tight, responsive steering. Would love to get a blacked out CVPI with push bar one day - cool looking cars.
I have a 97 and it handles great. I can throw it around corners and I live up in the mountains.
The 2003+ chassis redesign addressed this exact issue. My '05 P71 can slalom pretty well. Honestly it's not going to slalom like a Corvette, it's heavy and still has some body roll, but it's definitely very good in the handling department. It doesn't wallow in the corners the way the older ones did.
BEST car I ever owned was a 1999 Grand Marquis tgat I bought new in 1999 and it was the family driver for 21 years. Sold it earlier this year for $750. It ran and drove great. The A.c. worked perfectly. ONLY problems over the years was the heater core rotted out so I by passed it. We don't need it in Miami anyway. I replaced the radiator last year and have put a couple of serpentine belts over the years.
I got a 1974 Chrysler Newport for $100 back in 1996 and all it needed was a new muffler.
I got a 74 Newport in trade for a 64 Dodge truck that barely ran. I bought the truck at a towing auction for 25 bucks. Around 2003.
There’s a lot of police departments that wish they could buy one of them new!
Could have got $4,000 for it
Yup-for the $200, the cost of the battery, alternator, this person coulda flipped it, and made even happier ending and bought a Toyota! Another underachiever.
V8 made with Minecraft obsidian
I love the old Crown Victorias. Easily one of the best cars ever made
I have two Crown Victoria's. Love them. One is a police interceptor. Panther Platform cars are by far my favorite aside from 60's and 70's cars. Vintage cars are cool but the Crown Vics and Grand Marquis' are just cost effective and practical. Plus so comfortable and enjoyable.
Arguably the most environmentally friendly car on the road, today.
They had the smaller Mercury Sable too with the same front seating and 2 cylinders less (v6)
The only cars I use in 100 lap enduro racing! There’re so tough I can finish the race and drive it onto my trailer, paint it another colour and use it for next months race !!!
My former 95 Grand Marquis got 28 mpg highway. I sold it with 450,000 still running fine with the AC still going strong. I just got sick of replacing window regulators. Probably still be driving it if it had manual windows
My 99 TownCar that required 91 octane consistently got 27 mpg at 73 mph on interstates. Sold it, profit... Mistake.
Got a low mileage 02 GM now.
In Winnipeg (🇨🇦) those crown Victorias cost min $2000 and sometimes without the safety and no safety no drivey, love those cars.
I worked for a guy long ago that had a 2003 Mercury Maruader and that was one awesome car!
FYI, regarding the broken Bolt, purchase a Heli-coil kit. I have been using them for over 40 years and they are fantastic. You drill out the broken bolt, tap new threads and install a new bolt and you are done. Again, do your research to make sure you get the proper kit. Best of luck..........
Scotty, you should do a video on "If I were to create a car, these are the parts that I would put in it to make it run forever."
I love the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Maurauder, Mercury Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car, Simply The Best !!!!!!
Scotty laying down on the job😎
I drove one for my senior year of hs, it was my grandfathers town car. He owned it for 20 years, I had to get rid of it though due to excessive rot in the rear. It ran great, drove great and just felt great to drive.
I have a 2004 Mercury Marauder, been loving it since I got it, its a great daily driver
I gave $2000.00 for one last year with 122,000 miles, V 8 runs like a champ! Interior is great! Now I’m looking for more of these
Who else loves the laughing horse memes everytime Scotty laughs? 😁🐴 I wish every mechanic was as knowledgeable, thorough and honest as Scotty. Love your videos sir.
A young co-worker of mine has one of those, same color even! I asked him what he thought of it and he didn't like it because it didn't corner well. All of his friends have the zoomy fart can equipped Tokyo Drift cars. I told him that his car was made for plush comfort driving, not high speed stupidity. It was his Grandparent's car and they gave it to him when his Grandmother lost her license due to health issues. He is a smart, rational nerdy sort of a person and I say that with all due respect. I told him that he has a real jem of a car and he is lucky to have it as it was made back when quality still existed on the assembly line. I told him to take good care of it and it will give good care for him. To be quite honest I want one my self. I have been looking at auction Crown Vic Interceptors recently. I may just get a close cousin of that Grand Marquis.
no cap detected
I have a 1986 Grand Marquis and a 1994 Grand Marquis, each with 110k actual miles. AC works great in the '94. Both get verifiable 26-27 mpg. I drive a 2006 Lincoln with 122k; it gets 18mpg. All three run great and ride like clouds. Solid, powerful, graceful! Bravo panthers!
I love this guy! It is not a Toyota; what fairness! SavageScotty; the best! 🤓
I always say the panther body is the best American car you can get today. Everybody just thinks they're old man cars, but they're reliable, comfortable, and quiet. You can go 80 mph, and not have to raise your voice to carry on a conversation. Bench seats and a column-mounted shifter let you hold your girl while you drive.
The ride on these cars is great. Great cars.
I got my wife a 1998 Presidential model for FREE with 44k miles on it. She loves it. The noise is normal, my go to mechanic said it is all sound and tight. No worries
As a guy from Saudi Arabia, this car is one of the best American made cars that ever existed, I bought one in 2000 and it still run good , even tho I’m not taking a good care of it.
My grandma is still driving hers at 600k. My uncles been maintaining it since she bought it. Did get the seats redone.
I so miss the full size cars. I drive my 80 Plymouth Volare as much as possible.
There have been a lot of full sized cars made in the past 40 years, Jeff. Why are you driving a Volare and lamenting the absence of actual full size cars?
Great point about being cheap to insure. Not enough people realize that, especially with rates going crazy in some states. You save SO much money driving an old boat like a Grand Marquis.
I got my dads crown Victoria when he passed what a good car now I know why he loved it so much .
I drove a maroon with maroon interior. We had a Mercury/Lincoln dealership in the 80’s in New Mexico. Nice ride back then.
In 1987 I drove a new Crown Victoria with the 5 liter and the automatic transmission with the overdrive, if I remember correctly it was fuel injection. A very nice ride Hallelujah. It was marine blue, beautiful car.
You could buy a brand new full size sedan of any brand you want, and this car still will outlast it for sure!
I know uncle Scotty won't even argue with me, since they don't sell the Toyota Avalon no more.😜
I had a 2005 Grand Marquis LSE (really rare) it had bucket seats big very comfy and a center console , V8 with the sport package. White with gray leather interior. Really loved that car ran like champ, never had a problem. Wish I still had it.
I love these cars. They drive awesome. The front end is a great swap for an f100 build
I had a '97 Lincoln mark viii with the performance version of this engine and I never should've sold it for next to nothing. Has the suspension converted to coils too. God I was stupid. These engines are rock stars
I just knew it would be a Panther! Also as a Panther-maniac I recognized the B-pillar in the thumbnail!
I absolutely agree, Ford Panther platform cars are really some of the best used vehicles you can buy as a daily driver today. They're cheap, they'll last forever (if you don't abuse them), and they're comfortable and spacious. I own a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor myself as a daily driver, and it's never let me down!
