@@TheLordOfNothingAgree. Mercury could’ve been the American rival to Mazda or Buick. And it probably wouldn’t have costed much to keep the marque going.
I bought my 2003 Town Car last year with 69k miles. The bottom of the car is as beautiful as the body. My wife hates this car and calls it an old man car, and ugly. I think she is jealous. 😂 My response to her is that nobody puts baby in the corner. I talk so much about it. Friends and family are sick of hearing about it. So I named my Lincoln Town Car, the Loveboat. Because I love it and it's a boat. I play the theme song to the show... Every time I drive her, she brings me a smile to my face.
Aftermarket stereos are so easy to install on these and makes the vehicle up-to-date with CarPlay or AndroidAuto plus a decent screen for navigation. After that, get 3M Crystalline window tint to reduce heat through the glass, and you'll have one coooool ride.
Women are great, but I don’t let them pick my cars, lol. Big American luxobarges are the way to go! Ugly? Has she looked at anything made in the last decade? Almost everything made today is an eyesore. The Town Car is at least classy and elegant. It’s not as handsome as a lot of older luxury cars, but it’s way better than the blobby, “sporty” crap made today.
Not to mention the parts have now been discontinued for them. I am having a hard time finding an OEM intake manifold and the Dorman manifolds are junk.
I have a 2006 Town Car Signature (not the extended wheelbase), in the same color, Silver Birch. I paid 8 grand for it over a year ago and I'm EXTREMELY happy with it!
I finally met my match with you guys. I am also obsessed and convinced that the Lincoln Town Car is the very best vehicle to own and drive. Since getting my license many years ago, I always drove a full sized car, starting with an Oldsmobile. I had four Olds, one ‘98 Brougham, three Cutlass Supremes when they were full sized. Once they stopped making full sized cars, it was Lincoln all the way. I would take a Town Car over any fancy import. I’m currently driving (on occasion) a ‘92 and a ‘97, each with 51K and 33K respectively. I will cherish them for life! PS: One important thing you may have missed on your Signature L , the rear doors open all the way out, which gives much more room to enter, just like a limousine or a car with suicide doors. Anyway, enjoy guys!!
I bought Signature Town Car three years ago. No doubts this is a greatest car I ever had. I have to do 200 miles trips several times a week and there is no better choice to do that, because you are definitely seating in lazy boy and not caring at all what's going one outside of your vehicle.
I have a 2006 LTC. Had it for 12 years and haven’t had any issues at all with it. Runs smooth as hell, comfy, the best car I’ve ever owned. The last true American car.
We had these for work at a car service company. The owner bought 3 in 2011.The cars had over 300,000 mile when they came off the road. All of are clients miss the car.
I live in Florida and two years ago I purchased a 2004 LTC Signature. It's a Florida car with 101,000, and no rust. It was garage kept and from what I was told it had been sitting a while. After I purchased it, I fixed all the maintenance items that were neglected. I replaced the 10+ year old tires, all brakes and rotors, rear calipers, fuel pump, coils and plugs, belt, tensioner and oil. I only drive 2500 miles a year so it may be the last car I ever own. It looks and runs great!! I have had several people asking if I would sell it but no way. If you get a chance to buy one, do it. They are great cars.
We just upgraded my mother-in-law’s car. She has a 2005 signature. It’s gold with the two-tone bottom. Excellent condition she lives in Tampa. It’s a Florida car 120 thousand miles on it and now it’s mine to play with.
After watching this a week ago I just purchased a 2009 signature limited with only 22K miles on it. It was a garaged Florida car. Silver birch clearcoat metallic with Black leather. Looks Like it just came out of the factory. Not a scratch anywhere and you can eat off the engine. Bought it from Podium auto of Pompano Beach Florida
If you're tempted to buy a car from Podium Auto in Pompano Beach, I suggest you check out their Yelp Reviews first, Caveat Emptor....Let the buyer beware.
I drove a Crown Vic for 23 years and loved the car…really loved the car. They could take a beating and keep going. Biggest mistake Ford ever made was killing it off. We haven’t had a decent PPV since.
I recently bought a 2006 Town Car in the top of the line Designer trim and I absolutely love the car. I bought it with 29,500 miles on it in November for $11,500 and the car is in like new condition. It was owned by an elderly couple since it was new. It’s an extremely reliable car and when I do need to fix something the parts are cheap like they mentioned in the video. If you can find a nice example I would recommend it to anyone looking for a car like this. The car I bought was $52,000 when new in 2006 which is equal to about $80,000 when accounting for inflation. These Town Cars are an amazing deal at the prices you can buy them for now. You can’t go wrong with one.
I recently bought a like new one owner 2007 Grand Marquis LS with 36,000 miles on it for $10,000 cash. And I have a 2006 that I have put almost 300,000 miles on. It had 97,000 on it when I bought it 11 years ago. When the engine or transmission finally does wear out, just replace it. They literally grow on trees. They are everywhere, and they are cheap.
My dad had an 01 town car. He painted it red & put in some crazy subwoofer in the back. He let me drive it to school my junior year of high school. Good times
Im not a Ford guy, but i love and respect this '79-2011 Panther platform. Some of the best and most reliable cars Ford ever made with the Cown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and Town Car. 4.6 V8 is super reliable. Id own one in a heartbeat, always keeping my lookout for a clean, grandpa-owned unit.
Growing up, my favorite luxury sedans have always been the Lincoln Town Car, the W126 Mercedes-Benz S Class(1981-91), and the original Lexus LS400. All were extremely comfortable and roomy, unlike today's luxury sedans that are aimed to be sporty and high tech.
I own a 2011 with pretty low miles on it but I love it - for all the reasons you guys mention. My wife's cousin has a 2011 too.. with over 665,000 miles, original motor! And the car still looks great, it's not even a beater. It used to be ex limi and was retired in 2023. Mine was one of the very last ones to roll off the assembly line and has around 48,000 miles. Love love love these.
The pinnacle of reliability, comfort, and class......Not to mention they have a full-frame and a virtually indestructible drivetrain, which I might point out some trucks manufactured by Toyota do not have. My Grand Marquis has 500,000 miles and it still purrs like a kitten. GREAT VIDEO!
This car is the last in the line of big smooth luxury cruisers that started in the 50's until recently. Smooth, with lots of torque and engine sound tuned to be almost imperceptible. The interior is plush with comfy chairs and a back seat like a couch. The ride was floaty and absorbed bumps so that comfort was most important. The engine and drivetrain are like tanks because they are so under stressed. IIRC, the modular 4.6L was used in everything from Lincoln Town Cars to Mustangs. The Mustangs were tuned for speed and performance whereas The Town Car was smooth long cruises.
A couple of weeks ago I just bought a 2008 Grand Mercury Marquis and it's the best car I've ever bought! Thanks to Car Wizard's informative RUclips channel.
I used to watch Car Wizards channel. Then he started advertising non car related stuff, and I quit watching. I don't need medical advice from a mechanic.
@@billholb1974 I notice the V8 engine of my Grand Marquis does burn fuel a little more than my other car. Does that mean the Grand Marquis burns far less engine oil and use less of the battery, by burning more fuel?
I thought that was my car in the thumbnail! I have a silver 2004 Town Car Ultimate L that looks nearly identical to this one, minus the wheels and a few bits on the interior. I'll never get rid of this car! I put around 3,700 miles on it since last February when I bought it with 128,000 miles. It has needed next to nothing. It is my second Town Car, with my first being a 2001 Executive trim level.
I have a silver 2004 Ultimate L as well. I'll never get rid of mine either. Marti report showed 1,405 Ultimate Ls were made. 202 of them were silver. Mine has the navigation system, HIDs, and chrome wheels.
I also have a silver 2004 Ultimate L with a half top with 110,000 miles. Had it for 9 months. 4 months ago my son hit a deer in the dead middle of it. Insurance totaled it out. But it was too nice to go to the grave yard, so I purchased it back and bolted a new hood, header, and bumper along with a new ac condensor. Very glad I did.
I too currently have a 2004, bought it 2.5 years ago and it only had 41k on the clock. Was supposed to go today and look at a 2009, but the other guy had to cancel, going tomorrow.
Not many cars left really good at eating up lots of miles quickly and effortlessly like those did. My father-in-law rented one for us when we got married, nicest car I'd ever driven. I just kept telling myself, "don't crash the Lincoln, don't crash the Lincoln...."
I have to say, the Mustang with adaptive cruise control, is pretty damn comfortable to just eat some miles. It still isn't as good as a Lincoln Towncar.
I agree they should have never stopped making the panther platform. They should have upgraded the panther platform. After the panther platform went away. The only car companies that made rear-wheel drive sedans were Cadillac, Pontiac, Chrysler, and Dodge
I may not be a Lincoln or Ford guy but these are damn near bulletproof, I've been in one of these going over 60 bottomed out and it didn't miss a beat 😂Lead Sled at its finest..Merica!
My 2002 Town Car has been my daily driver since I bought it in 2007. In 2015, I had to replace the rear air ride suspension, which is a common problem in these cars. At around 100k miles, I had to get new ball joints, an idler arm, and a sway bar. Other than that, it has been mostly trouble free. It's been very reliable and economical in the nearly 17 years that I have had the car. I usually take at least one trip per year from Maryland to Florida and back, and it's a great car on the highway.
Love my 06’ CV LX. Silver Birch w/leather interior. Clean, & worth the $400 blend door fix. Replaced wear items too. Rides smooth. Did seafoam in tank & intake and now accelerates great. Bought for $3k, & put a fair amount in it. Hard to park but no regrets. HENRY ❤
I love the Ford Panther cars. I was a government fleet mechanic for 37 years, and worked on hundreds of them. One of the few later model cars that di9dn't constantly have the check engine light on. I started out driving beat up ex cop cars, then started buying Mercury Grand Marquis. 11 years ago I bought a really nice 2006 with 97,000 miles on it. Today it has 384,000 miles on it. I have spent less than $1000 on repair parts. A few months ago I found and bought a 2007 Grand Marquis with 37,000 actual miles on it, from the original owner. The only thing I found wrong was that it needed new windshield wipers. Paint was perfect, interior was perfect and still smelled new. The bottom was as clean as the top. Seller had a stack of service receipts for it. I paid $10,000 cash. That is crazy cheap considering what new POS cars cost these days, that are lucky to make 100,000 miles before the engine blows up. No taxes, no dealer fees. I'm now 64, and this car should last me the rest of my life. I'm going to drive the 2006 until I wear it out first. The blend door actuator failed on my 2006. I'm in AZ, so I really didn't need heat. I pulled the passenger airbag out, and was able to break the actuator out with a homemade 2 foot long chisel through the airbag opening. I jammed the blend door in the full A/C position. Fixing it right requires removing most of the dash. The rear airbags failed. I replaced them with coil springs for $200. The ride is still the same. It just floats over the road. I get 30+ mpg on the highway. I had to replace the alternator, the serpentine belt tensioner and idler pulley, the MAF sensor, The drivers side sun visor, and the pull out cup holder/ashtray thing, both of which I broke. I found them on eBay. I did replace the donut spare with a full size spare. I had a flat on the freeway. I don't recommend trying to drive such a large car on the freeway on the donut. I ordered a wheel online, and had a full sized tire put on it. It lays flat in the trunk. Oh, and I had to replace the drivers door window regulator recently. It was the original one, still had the rivets in it, and lasted over 380,000 miles. I got a new one from RockAuto for around $80 plus shipping. I have avoided the Town Car, because it is bigger and heavier, gets less mileage, and does not share nearly as many parts with the Crown Vic as the Grand Marquis does. And the ride feels about the same. You may have a problem if one of those rear doors gets significantly damaged, they are very hard to find. Ford used to make a long wheelbase version of the Crown Vic specifically for NYC taxicabs, and those longer rear doors are impossible to find for those. The Grand Marquis uses standard Crown Vic body parts. Most interior and mechanical parts are interchangeable as well.
@@rslover65 I've heard that, but since I have no need for heat where I am, I just rigged it to be on full A/C all the time. It's been that way for years now with no problems, at least for me.
I own a 1988 Town car Cartier, original car, has 260,000 kms on it, daily driver for the last 7 years, has been insured for the road since 1988 in Canada, If you maintain these cars they seem to be able to last forever, still rust free, runs like new, everything work's , but indeed it does take maintenance and some care, the car still look's like new and smell's new. still Driving Daily up in Canada. No other car or Truck ive ever owned has been anywhere near as reliable as these Lincoln Town Car's! for such a large looking car they get better fuel Economy than even a same era ford Ranger.
I've had 2 of these bad boys, 1 2008 and 1 2003 with a vinyl top. I loved both of them, but the early 2000's models were just a little bit softer, I liked the grooved steering wheel, and it had a cassette player too. In 2003! I will absolutely own another one one day.
The pride of my fleet of five vehicles is 2006 Presidential Edition (Signature Limited) with the factory sunroof, factory chrome Designer wheels, it’s finished in Light French Silk, a black canvas carriage roof, parchment interior. If they made the L with a factory sunroof then that is what I would have bought. The sunroof was a must have option for me, and the only L models with sunroofs were all aftermarket add ins - I won’t do aftermarket sunroof. You are correct that the 239 hp 4.6 is very understressed, and that is a big factor in its reliability and extremely long life expectancy.
I had a 99 Presidential Touring Sedan in Pearl White and Champagne Top and Rockers. I am 6’3” and 310 lbs and I miss my Town Car. Now I have a 150 Lariat 2WD with the base 2.7 V6 and the outside looks plain but I have that two tone tan interior. I call it my Town Car with a Bed that I can see traffic. Great Videos Get the Blend Door Fixed and Enjoy the Ride!!
I have a 2006 LTC signature. And yes I did have to replace the blendor $$$ and it did have water leaking issues $$ but I decided to have both issues repaired because it is so reliable and I plan on keeping it !!
One of my favorites is my 2004 Signature bought 5 years ago from a lady that quit driving due to older age. I didn't beat her up on price - I paid every cent of the $3200 asking price. It was ready to go anywhere but I did the entire suspension, all control arms, bushings, shocks/struts and now she's ready for 20 more years' use. Clean. garaged and ready for a cross country trip. She sits in the garage next to my 2004 Marauder. The Panther platform is durable and indestructible. Governmental regulations killed it.
How about the 2008 from an old lady friend. Put on the highway, it feels unsafe because it floats a lot and the handling is very loose. It's my third Lincoln and I didn't have this problem with the other two. What would you suggest I do to help it handle better??
In 2012, there was a 2011 Merc Grand Marquis and a 2011 Lincoln Town Car at my local Ford Dealer. They both had about 40K miles on them and looked EXACTLY the same; White exterior/light tan interior. I wanted the Town Car but it was 10k more than the Merc. I traded my hopped up ‘83 Mustang GT and drove away in the Merc for 15K. I still have it with 192,000 miles on it. Best car Ive EVER had.
I have a 1997 TC Cartier with 180k miles. The second gen TCs with Cartier trim also had dual exhaust and if you added the trailer package there was also LCD. Off the line they make great torque which surprises people. Uses no oil, there are no rattles, and it is smooth as silk. It's incredible and I think it's insulting to Lincoln to compare it to a Mercedes.
I love these. I actually own a 1972 Lincoln Continental with the big 460 in it. 72 was the first year of the low compression smog era 460, so I have modified mine with different heads, cam, intake and a 750cfm Holley. Oh and dual exhaust. So mine makes a lot more power than it left the factory with. It’s an awesome car to cruise in. Big, smooth, soft ride, soft leather seats, decent power. What’s not to like? Other than terrible mileage of course. lol.
Currently in the market for a clean Panther platform or older Lexus LS. I'm done with sky high new car prices and interest rates on cars that don't last.
Older Lexus LS was a good car in its day, but not that many were made, and parts are hard to find and super expensive. Panther parts are cheap and easy to find.
My 2000 Grand Marquis started sounding like a broken sewing machine about a half mile from home... so of course i rode on. Called my Ford buddy, who said after i told him the plug dropped down in the head, that it's bulletproof. Drove me to Autozone and one heli-coil and 15 minutes later it was smooth as silk. Drove it for a few more years till the heater core leaked, the Ford 4.6 kryptonite... behind the dash, thanks Ford...my f150, same thing.
One thing I notice is you make it sound like the Signatture is special. The Signature Limited was a trim level above and then of course the Cartier/Designer/Ultimate depending on what year we talk about.
I agree, however, remember those editions were all discontinued '08-'11 when they moved production to Canada from Wixom, MI. For 08+, there was only the Signature/Signature L and Executive/Executive L, so he really does have the top option for the year. Only Town Car with even more premium seats than this was the Designer.
have a soft spot for the town car as an uncle of mine had a used designer series Town Car for a while while I was growing up in the 90s rode smooth as silk as all panther platform cars did with a 4.6 L V8 engine under hood or at least after the early 90s so I believe uncle Dan's 88 designer series town car had the 351 Windsor V8 under hood
You used to see these all over lower Manhattan. The financial companies would call them to transport visitors to and from their hotel. I districty remember someone asking if they wanted them order a Towncar for me.
Ford would have not stopped building the panther platforms vehicles if the government hadn't made it impossible for them to continue building them,,, people don't realize that and they need to...
The government through EPA and CAFE and other government agencies are constantly changing the standards and specifications vehicles have to meet and in the case of Ford's panther platform vehicles it came to a point where the cars as designed could NEVER meet those standards so Ford ended production.. It's actually worse now than it's ever been and standards are being imposed for internal combustion engines by EPA and CAFE with the INTENT of removing them from the planet. That's the VERY short version...@@davidvicari5139
I think what he means is the problem meeting new government mpg requirements for the manufacturer’s fleet. I think it was (is) called CAFE standards. If the manufacturer sells a lot of 20 mpg Towncars, they better sell a whole bunch more 30 mpg cars to bring their average fleet mpg up to CAFE standards. The Towncar was (I think) put out of production to allow higher mpg cars in the fleet to raise the fleet average necessary to meet the CAFE standards. Just my thought. I’m not much of a car guy but I’ve owned 3 of the Lincoln Mark VIII’s and when they were discontinued (DAMN!), I’ve since owned 3 Towncars. A 2011 Signature Limited with 180k miles on it is that one I own now. One of the last ones off of the (now shut down) 2011 production line. It’s just getting broken in 😂. Just got back yesterday from a 2 week 3,000+ mile road-trip. 23.7 mpg average (I just looked). Love my Towncar. I’m an old guy. They can bury me in it 👍.
The world needs more Lincoln Town Cars. I had a Cadillac Rental SUV and fit way less stuff in it, the seats were not comfortable but I will say the turbo engine was very quick but in a Luxury car there is no reason to rush 🤷♂️
I've always wanted to finda LWB Crown Vic and install the SPort console shift package and PPV suspension/whell combo. I think the best thing about the Panther is that you can mod it with all Ford parts and end up with some really unique rides.
When I had my signature, Lincoln town car, I said Fk road feel! I fell in Love with smooth! Road & Track has been pushing Road Feel forever! Smooth is Incredible! I sold it and bought the first year of the Ford expedition, 4 x 4, Eddie Bauer edition, which I love for two years, and then hated it for the next three years! The transmission locked up in Park city Utah and it was fixed in town and it was fixed halfway back to California and then it was fixed again in Pasadena. What a POS.
Awesome review guys. I'm 37 and have been a LTC fan my whole life. First car was a 95 LTC and just bought a mint 94 w/28k miles. I've had a lot of different cars but the LTC is far and away the BEST.
Yep, I think this is only going to get worse as so many folks are having EV buyer’s remorse and are starting to ditch them. The market forces will correct this boondoggle and hopefully cars such as these will roll out of the factory once more!
I have a Signature Model, not the long wheel base but it’s really grown on me, classic but as modern as anyone would need, I look forward to driving this car every day and my only regret is after owning a car this wonderful I’ll never be able to go back to any other vehicle, I’m 58 now so I’m hoping to be able to still obtain my next one if this one ever dies but that’s unlikely .
I suggest looking for one now. I am 64, and have a 2006 Grand Marquis with 384,000 miles. I noticed that nice ones are getting harder and harder to find. Most people consider them worthless and trash them. A few months ago I found a like new one owner 2007 with 36,000 miles for sale by an older couple, and I bought it on the spot. I didn't want to take a chance I might not be able to find another one when/if that time ever comes. I have already driven it on a few long highway trips. I use the 2006 as a local transportation car. It has door dings all the way up and down both sides.
I owned a 2011 "L" model, Black on Black, slightly larger than a regular one. More like a Limo, with more features in the back seat, and loads of leg room. The engines and transmissions these cars had are indestructible. One of the major shortcomings, was when Ford used a Plastic Manifold, which was prone to leak or crack. Mine leaked but I put sealant juice in it, and took care of the problem. Additionally, these are basically Crown Vics with Lincoln body panels, nothing too bad about that since the Crown Vic was an amazing car as well. Funny that when new, people paid big money for basically a Ford.
THE BEST CAR EVER MADE HANDS DOWN AND THE BIGGEST MISTAKE BY FORD/LINCOLN MOTOR CARS TO EVER STOP PRODUCTION. I JUST BOUGHT MY 4TH TOWN CAR ULTIMATE WITH MOONROOF IN ALL THE OPTIONS. THIS CAR SAVED MY LIFE IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT 8 YEARS AGO . ITS GRACE AND ELEGANCE ON THE OUTSIDE AND A TUFF AS NAILS ENGINE THAT WILL LAST A MILLION MILES IF YOU JUST TAKE CARE OF IT. THE LAST OF A TRUE ALL AMERICAN CLASSIC LUXURY SEDAN. .
My uncle was a Lincoln dealer. Therefore we all drove Lincolns. My last Lincoln was a 1989 Signature that had been extended 6" with a coach roof with the side rear windows taken out. It had built in readings lights and foot rests in the back. It was such a beautiful vehicle. Black coach roof and dark maroon body with the factory turbine wheels. I really miss that vehicle.
I have a 2002 Lincoln town car signature with 99,000 miles on it. It’s still the best car I ever had. I’m still driving it. I’m gonna drive it until the second coming of Jesus Christ.
I had an 03 Cartier L. It was a great car. Loved kicking it down into second gear and hearing that V8 rumble. Best part was never having to move up the seat for rear seat passengers.
I get 30+ mpg on the highway in my 2006 and 2007 Grand Marquis. But considering how inexpensive and reliable these cars are, I'm not really concerned about mileage, when a new POS car costs over $60,000. That buys a lot of gas. And they are not reliable.
That blend door has a jerry rig fix to switch it back and forth from heat to AC I behind the glove box it comes right out easy then you take 1 bolt out of the blend door so you can lift i and spin the lever from hot to cold but it ayto reverts back to heat alot and its way to hot for summer even with the vents closed and heat off itkl still make some. But the solution is to jam tin foil in there to stop it from spining baxk to heat. So maybe your heats fine they just have it stuck on AC so its not to hot for the summer

Same here. Got it in 2017 for $7300. Basically stole the car.
And the sound system thumps.
id put the mercury grand marquis up there as well
@@africaRBG yesssss those too
Don't they have air ride issues?
@ In time they do. Haven’t had that issue with my car yet though.
I lived in Florida when those cars were around. Omg a ton of them, crown Vic, grand Marquis and Lincoln.
I still see quite a few of these Panther Platform cars in Florida. 😊😊
@@franknew9001yes. I see much more of them in major cities.
Currently black 2010 TC Signature 97,000 3rd and last God Bless
That's glorious!
Any issues with Air ride?
IM NOT A (insert corporations name here) GUY
Cmon. Like good products.
Don't forget the Mercury Marauder too 😊
Same with the Buicks of the 1998-2011 era
My buddy is a chevy guy and he had a grand marquis and said the Panther platform is the only ford he would buy.
What went wrong though, Ford seems to make good reliable cars in the past, now they are below average of reliability rankings
That’s great! Did you comment on my channel? That sounds familiar.

Nice I have an 06 ..had an 02 crown vic before that.
@@billholb1974 Awesome!
@@billholb1974 I notice the V8 engine of my Grand Marquis does burn fuel a little more than my other car. Does that mean the Grand Marquis burns far less engine oil and use less of the battery, by burning more fuel?
@geraldscott4302 Was he pushing Pfizer?
I have owned 3 of these and currently own a 04. Hands down best sedan ever
So glad I made the leap and got one! Never in my life have I seen so many others with positive stories on the same platform!
How many miles, and has your air ride system failed yet?
I too currently have a 2004, bought it 2.5 years ago and it only had 41k on the clock. Was supposed to go today and look at a 2009, but the other guy had to cancel, going tomorrow.
@ the holy grail would be a marauder
They where excellent cars. I drove one as a livery vehicle for several years. Smooth, quiet, very comfortable and most of all dependable.
I remember my friends 88' Town car square body almost positive it had a fuel injection 302 V8. $500 car ran great
I had a 85 in High school in the mid 90s. What a boat.
I agree they should have never stopped making the panther platform. They should have upgraded the panther platform. After the panther platform went away. The only car companies that made rear-wheel drive sedans were Cadillac, Pontiac, Chrysler, and Dodge
I recently bought a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis with 74k miles and it is hands down the best car I have ever owned
What other cars have you owned?
Just celebrated 1 year with my Grand Marquis. It’s already done 15k happy miles for about $4k, hard to beat.
How much did you pay tho
Right. Extremely low bar.
I’ve owned a 09 Camry V6, 15 Fusion Titanium, and currently still own a 16 Lincoln MKS and yes the Grand Marquis is the best one I’ve had😂
I may not be a Lincoln or Ford guy but these are damn near bulletproof, I've been in one of these going over 60 bottomed out and it didn't miss a beat 😂Lead Sled at its finest..Merica!
Superb cars. I loved driving these when I could rent them from Hertz. The final and last true luxury car produced in America.
I had a 1984 LTD fully loaded with a/c so cold I had to crack the windows in Richmond, VA summers. Miss that car.
You have a donkey. Compared to the LINCOLN TOWNE CAR!! 😀😁
You can replace that blend door actuator without removing the dash. It sucks, but I've done it.
I love these TFL classics... just love classic cars in general...keep it up!
I got two Lincolns, MKS and Towncar. Great vehicles
I have an 88 and an 03 and I absolutely love them both.
The blend door actuator broke on my 2006 Grand Marquis. I just rigged it so only the A/C worked. No need for heat in Phoenix, AZ.
On my 98 I just took some vise grips pinch the heater hose no need in south florida
This is like having the A-team doing car reviews. Brenden/Nathan (or is it Nathan/Brenden?) reviewing a giant Lincoln. Doesn't get much better.
@pianodon my 08 Signature "L" at 290k drives GREAT. Do you good tires or cheap junk ?
@galeaiken3841 Continental Control Contact. Very smooth and quiet.
My Dad had an 86 and an 89 Town Car, truly floating on a cloud to drive!
Maybe more than insulting
The Panther platform was great. This is one of the best examples.
Other than terrible mileage of course. lol.
That sounds amazing!
Best cars ever made. The Ford CV and Merc GM were great also. Police/ Taxi and general service all agree.
@@geraldscott4302 Older Lexus LS is Toyota..parts are not hard to find..but they are more expensive than Ford Parts...
89 Town Car is my favorite. Owned several. Just picked up the last generation body style a few weeks ago.
I have one and when I bought it, the ride was the most comfortable car ride ever. I was even afraid of going to sleep while driving. Love my Lincoln!!
When this car died so did Lincoln. This was the last Lincoln car worth owning.
Drove it for a few more years till the heater core leaked, the Ford 4.6 kryptonite... behind the dash, thanks Ford...my f150, same thing.
you are sooooo right. Ford never should have stopped building this. And the Grand Marquis.
Love my 2004 LTC Ultimate. One of the best riding cars I’ve ever been in
No issues with the Air ride ?
I agree, Lincoln shouldn't have stopped making the Town Car
One thing I notice is you make it sound like the Signatture is special. The Signature Limited was a trim level above and then of course the Cartier/Designer/Ultimate depending on what year we talk about.
I agree, however, remember those editions were all discontinued '08-'11 when they moved production to Canada from Wixom, MI. For 08+, there was only the Signature/Signature L and Executive/Executive L, so he really does have the top option for the year. Only Town Car with even more premium seats than this was the Designer.
My 2006 Grand Marquis LS has ULTIMATE EDITION emblems on it. My 2007 LS doesn't. But they are exactly the same car.
have a soft spot for the town car as an uncle of mine had a used designer series Town Car for a while while I was growing up in the 90s rode smooth as silk as all panther platform cars did with a 4.6 L V8 engine under hood or at least after the early 90s so I believe uncle Dan's 88 designer series town car had the 351 Windsor V8 under hood
My 2008 Signature Limited has 137K miles still rides like a dream. Black rage top with white paint!
No Air ride issues ?
@ not at all still riding good to this day
You used to see these all over lower Manhattan.
You will have to explain that one.
@@davidvicari5139 Dang it,, I explained it and I thought I hit the comment button but I guess I didn't cause it's not showing up..
CAFE requirements have killed off a lot of reliable vehicles
The world needs more Lincoln Town Cars. I had a Cadillac Rental SUV and fit way less stuff in it, the seats were not comfortable but I will say the turbo engine was very quick but in a Luxury car there is no reason to rush 🤷♂️
Turbo engines also wear out very fast.
I had a 05 L version. Wish I'd kept it now. Got an 08 Sig Limited with 39k miles now though
I've always wanted to finda LWB Crown Vic and install the SPort console shift package and PPV suspension/whell combo. I think the best thing about the Panther is that you can mod it with all Ford parts and end up with some really unique rides.
Those cars are awesome, my son has one. Drives like a dream.
What a POS.
I simply love a Town Car. The last of the American Luxo barges!
Awesome review guys. I'm 37 and have been a LTC fan my whole life. First car was a 95 LTC and just bought a mint 94 w/28k miles. I've had a lot of different cars but the LTC is far and away the BEST.
I’ve had my 01 TC since new. Still driving it 24 years later. LWB Carrier edition.
They have gone up a lot in price. I bought mine for $5k and it’s now worth almost $9k. Get one while they are going up
Yep, I think this is only going to get worse as so many folks are having EV buyer’s remorse and are starting to ditch them. The market forces will correct this boondoggle and hopefully cars such as these will roll out of the factory once more!
I rock a 2011 Signature L. 54K miles so far.
As I remember all of the town cars my grandparents had had ash trays and lighters in the front and rear seats. None of us smoked but it was there
Both my 2006 and 2007 Grand Marquis have ash trays. I smoked for 30 years, quit 22 years ago.
My dad had one, it was a beautiful, big, comfortable, smooth boat. A joy to drive
The 2004 and up Crown Vic Police Interceptor had 250hp, so it was actually the most powerful Panther 4.6 2v.
It also wore out faster.
I’m hoping to own a very specific TC one day. A black on Black Signature L with the 17” 18 Spoke wheels.
Love the Panther platform…that thing is on the rare side as noted. Would be perfect with a sunroof. Hope you keep it and fix it up.
Correction on the power seat controls. Town Cars were always on the doors even in the 80s. Never on the side of the seat.
9 years ago this May I bought a 2006 Executive L Town Car for $900. It currently has 520,000 miles.....and counting!!!
I think that’s what Raylan Given’s drove in Justified. Such an awesome car.
Yes he did

My uncle was a Lincoln dealer. Therefore we all drove Lincolns. My last Lincoln was a 1989 Signature that had been extended 6" with a coach roof with the side rear windows taken out. It had built in readings lights and foot rests in the back. It was such a beautiful vehicle. Black coach roof and dark maroon body with the factory turbine wheels. I really miss that vehicle.
For God's sake, please replace the missing center cap on the wheel already. It's driving me crazy!
I have a 2002 Lincoln town car signature with 99,000 miles on it. It’s still the best car I ever had. I’m still driving it. I’m gonna drive it until the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Much better quality than the Deville, but the Park Avenue with the supercharged 3.8 was also very good.
I had an 03 Cartier L. It was a great car. Loved kicking it down into second gear and hearing that V8 rumble. Best part was never having to move up the seat for rear seat passengers.
These and the Grand Marquis were such nice cars. Bullet proof reliability and super comfortable. MPG was the only thing it wasn't super great at.
I get 30+ mpg on the highway in my 2006 and 2007 Grand Marquis. But considering how inexpensive and reliable these cars are, I'm not really concerned about mileage, when a new POS car costs over $60,000. That buys a lot of gas. And they are not reliable.
3:17 Yah, Benny & Vinny from Brooklyn always disable that pesky inside trunk release feature in their "Family Cars"
I have been watching for one, I have a 2010 swb Signature Limited in that colour combination.
Legendary style! Thanks for the video.
Have an 06 CVPI. Now has 254k. Unreal reliability. Sure do wish they would have used the 5.8 tho.
I had a 1994 model with a 5.0 engine. Great car very comfortable
Came with the 4.6 .starting in 1991
That blend door has a jerry rig fix to switch it back and forth from heat to AC I behind the glove box it comes right out easy then you take 1 bolt out of the blend door so you can lift i and spin the lever from hot to cold but it ayto reverts back to heat alot and its way to hot for summer even with the vents closed and heat off itkl still make some. But the solution is to jam tin foil in there to stop it from spining baxk to heat. So maybe your heats fine they just have it stuck on AC so its not to hot for the summer
I'm in Phoenix, AZ. Don't need heat. I rigged mine to stay on full blast A/C all the time. Lots of videos on RUclips about how to rig them.
I love my 1986 Lincoln Town Car.
