NUPARU WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN CAVE!...WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!
Ironman!
I understood that reference.
Deathjack 999 Grammar dude, use it
Well Im sorry :( ....Im not Nuparu
Deathjack 999 He's like the MacGyver of Bionicle!
Nuparu probably has two throwing arms because they wanted to establish his character as an inventor, which makes his lack of a punching arm make sense.
That could be true
What if Nupuru tore off his own arm and installed it into the Boxor, replacing it with another throwing arm later.
My personal headcanon is he had a defect of having two right hands
I think the Punching Arm included was one from a fellow villager that had fallen off.
Triceratops I think that's supposed to work like the spines from Pacific Rim.
"Basically, Nuparu is Tony Stark." I love these videos,
*Basically, Bionicle 2002 = Pacific Rim is confirmed.*
Both built a weapon in cave *WitH A BoX oF ScRApS*
I love how there’s a massive threat to matoran life, but nuparu was like “nah, the blue krana shield doesn’t fit with the colour scheme”
I think the Bohrok faceplate is there to be an effective visual indicator that this was cobbled together from the remains of Bohrok. I mean, what else is there to tell us that aside from the teeth? Personally, this is one of my favorites from G1, precisely BECAUSE it's so weird.
I understand why it's there from a set design perspective, but I struggle to see the practicality of its presence from an in-story point of view.
I know a lot of people really dig the more obscure designs. Oddity = Interesting. While I'm not necessarily in that group, I can see where they're coming from.
***** i love the story time
What? The Exo-Toa is awesome.
I disagree with you. Exo Toa set is one of the best.
100% correct my friend. I got 2 months ago, a sealed Exo -Toa, and was a quite a challenge, and I always enjoy a Bionicle Technic style challenge building, it was a wondefull experience, and I never have that feelling for many years. It took 2 afternoons but i build the set, and was very unique. Its more complex than the Tarakava, although the Exo Toa armour haves 360 pieces, and the two tarakava haves about 400 pieces.More harder is with the Bahrag, the Bohrok Queens.I hope that you make also reviews of the Exo Toa and the Bohrok Queens.
Makuta: i am inevitable
Nuparu: and i am nuparu...
*snap*
Onepu wasn't important enough to become a Toa Inika.
I personally like the cobbled-together nature of the Boxor. I think it's rather endearing. As was mentioned before, that's how Nuparu created it. After all, he had limited resources: the scattered remains of his village, and a single, Krana-less Bohrok. What else was he supposed to use? Nothing, because there was nothing else he could use! The way it comes off as a toy really shows the rushed, hastily-designed manner in which Nuparu initially designed the thing. He, Onepu and Taipu had to escape the cave somehow, you know!
Plus, if you think about it, when the Boxor became a mass-produced product, it could be inferred that the original design was refined and upgraded into a new, more advanced, and less silly-looking Boxor 2.0, possibly like the Boxor Walker concept that is included in the Boxor's instructions. The only problem there is that that version of the Boxor is unfortunately not canon to the Bionicle storyline. But that's what headcanons are for!
"I am an engineer, not a poet. Besides, a pratical name will be easiest for you monsters to remember. I'll call it.. BOXOR!" - Nuparu
Avengers reference time!
Makuta: “I have an army.”
Nuparu: “We have Boxors!”
I still love this set as an example of what makes the Matoran so great- their ingenuity is in good display. It also helps that it is a mecha and I adore the punching function it uses. I plan to Bricklink it sometime soon.
Imagine what he could do with the proper materials. I'm sure he could make a Matoran variant of the Exo-Toa. That would be so cool
Nuparu is, without a doubt, my FAVORITE character from the Bionicle storyline...ever! :)
E-z-person
Our Lord and Savior Solek
Good guy is best
I am not gonna mention Matoro, but I would like to present my choice in preferred Bionicle character.
I present Onepu.first of all,his Powerless purple Pikari looke good with his Mctoran Duck feet.his mask is the Kanohi displayed in all marketing for the Tohunga nui,he was still enjoying his life in Metru nui, making him a chill boi,and he was a Mctoran, the best matoran build.
Why is the old play funtions better than the new ones
My best answer is the primary use of technic, making it easier for more complex functions
Because people cared about stuff back then.
Nah
Because the old sets were more unique and cooler
Yep
the ultimate middle finger to the borok
Are you going to due that story thing at the beginning of your videos regularly? Because that would be awesome
i love how you describe story elements before the review, it makes your reviews the best to watch
Really really loved the story time, great touch!
Bionicle story time is best story time
Vanguardmetrics
Vanguardmetrics You've got the touch!
You've got the power!

This is one of the reasons of why i watch his videos,he doesn't spend time on disclaimer(its not like i hate eljay or something, i Just think that sometimes the disclaimer part is annoying)
I like to imagine Nuparu in desperation to find a piece that could act as a support beam ripped off his own arm and stuck it on, before finding a dead matoran and attached the corpses left arm to his body after driving off the bohrok. he was such a hero nobody cared about a bit of corpse mutilation
HOLY SHIT
Those Iron Man references, bruh.
You're very good at story telling, I can't wait for the 2016 reviews :)
it looks so cobbled together and strange because its made of a bohrok and houses.
That intro is definitely the best part of the review. Great storytelling and fantastic scenes; they almost seem alive!
I’m convinced that the set is exactly how it is supposed to be, so that when a child sees a boxor at their friends house or finding build instructions on the “home computer” maybe even seeing it in the minidiscs that came with the rakshi back in 2002, they are than inspired to make their own improvised version by using bohrok of their color choice and pulling from other builds. Which is what the villagers did which was the whole point because at the point of release majority of people who had bionicles, had at least one tohunga/matoran
I always love the "story" sections! Thanks for your quality content!
The reason nuparu has 2 throwing arms is because Lego wanted an ambidextrous character and in the story he was ambidextrous
I really loved the presentation of this review! You're giving Eljay from TTV a run for his money!
That was an incredible Jeff Bridges impression holy shit, also I've always wondered what this sets technical function was, gotta say i was pleasantly surprised. Great reviews btw, kep doing what you're doing man
I personally enjoy the set's visual quality.
It really looks like it was created from Bohroks and I dig the heavy technic-vibe of the build.
I assume you dislike the Takua and Pewku titan from '03 as well,
since that build is also focused entirely around its play feature
at the expense of having a rather gappy look.
I never got Takua and Pewku, actually. But you're right. Just by the looks of it, I'm sure my opinions on it would be similar to the Boxor.
I have Takua and Pewku and it's one of my favourite sets. It also has an amazing function, but it's not a combat one. It's legs move as you push it along. This is way cooler than it sounds. It looks strange in pictures but it looks fine when you see it in person, though it does have lots of gaps. You also get Takua in the set :D
+RolloutReviews Will you be reviewing that far?
I love how you tell the story with your freeze frame shots of the sets.
Does anyone else to find it weird that when the bohrok was gone it was a blue gah-dok, but when it was put into the BOXOR, it turns black?
Fortunately Nuparu found a can of black spray paint in the wreckage of Onu-Koro.
Lol XD
+RolloutReviews is that true or are you just kidding?
Sounds awesome.
Y'know, IF they were closer, the bottom teeth could have been joysticks.
Having the Bohrok head-plate as a visor, rather than a random aesthetic feature, is a pretty smart idea. It would make the pilot at least somewhat protected. Otherwise the pilot is completely bare and susceptible to basically any kind of danger, even just Bohrok shrapnel ricocheting into the pilot's eyes.
In fact, the alternative build shown off in the instruction manual has the head-plate facing down as a visor. Also, the Matoran's hands are closer to the control sticks, making it look like s/he's actually controlling it. AND the Boxor's arms aren't sticking out the back...
I've just had a revelation - the alternative build is better than the normal build! I must get RolloutReviews opinions on this.
This was an incredibly cinematic review.
11:06 - after mentioning Stark earlier in the video, I was waiting for something like this. Funny as heck. Also I love your reviews, and it's a shame you never reviewed any more bionicle sets. Great vid tho!
My childhood! I used to have this and 2 or 3 Exo Toa I regret to this day not buying the Queens
bro really build a fighting mech out of his enemies dead bodies 💀
"Nuparu was able to build this in a cave....with a Corpse and Scraps!!!"
I loved this set as a kid, and I love it now. Something about the scrappiness of this set plus the extensive use of technic pieces
Well, nuparu is supposed to have built it from spare parts and a bohrok shell, so maybe the design cost him a literal arm and a leg (or at least an arm)?
You probably noticed that you can also build an alternative version of Boxor with another building instructions that come along the set.
I feel that the bizarre design of the Boxor can be excused by the little time Nuparu and the others had to built it before they could have been found by Bohrok, and they just stuck with the design when mass-producing it since it did its job well enough.
Incredible review, sir.
Liking this solely for the Iron Man references. Well played, sir.
...not sure why I didn't do that earlier.
the way that action feature looks is so good omfg
I love the beginnings with the story information.
I love my boxor but I'm guilty of tampering with the original design myself because of the reasons you pointed out as well as my lore fascination I actually did salvage a gholok for the bohrok esque peices in it because of the back story and I also added an extra elbow pin connector to the "levers" to make them fit the arms better also I love naparu's mask... P. S. I made a gholok using the black parts that came with the boxor instead and while unquestionably non cannon the black and blue look awesome together. Thanks for reading I love your vids :)
This set was always rare where I lived as a kid, I remember wanting this so bad but it was never in stores lol
Loved this set, i always had the alterative build, the bohrok head piece was like a protective shield
I love the story segments at the beginnings of these videos.
10:12 important to note how effective the Gali hooks are for ripping open Bohrok heads
11:07 had me laughing so hard. Great video and review, too!
I actually really like the look of the gears and technic beams. It shows how it was built from scraps and extra bits.
yes use the mutated corps of your av-matorin brutherin
IronManShow Everyone loves a good corpse-tank
the story bits with bionicle is so awesome.
If I'm honest, this is one of my favorite Bionicle sets!
Damn, you rode the Boxor harder than the resistance to the bottom of Naho Bay.
With two throwing arms, Nuparu has three fingers on each hand - which can also be said about his Toa Inika model.
I like it's weirdness. I think it looks kinda cool, and the function is an added bonus.
Hey rollout, I'm loving your bionicle reviews, amazing video quality and an entertaining way of showing off every detail. I was just wondering if you could show us the alternative build, it'd be much appreciated!
I like your set up 👍( the great thumb )
I wish I still had my collection this was my all time favorite set
Hey I've recently subscribed, and I enjoy your videos
yo i can't wait to see what they look like in the game coming up
I like all the Iron Man references in this keep up the good work
Another great review!
I love the addition in your reviews of the story scenes were you pose them for different scenes.
Nice review! Boxor and exo-toa was sets that i couldn't get back then, so it's nice to see this review. Btw, did you have exo-toa and plan to review it?
So with the info we got on the origin of Bohroks later in the saga, we actually have 3 matoran dismembering a 'dead' transformed matoran, and building a transport/fighting vehicle out of him/her... yikes BIONICLE was much darker in the early years than I expected :P
Honestly, I really like the set. Both in looks and features.
I disagree with you heavily
I love the messy design
It looks so unique and weird in a classic bionicle way
This and the exo-toa were my favorite sets by far, besides the main Toa/Bohrok.
This set is perfect for moc making :P
did you ever review the alt state of the boxor. as i remember it having two different builds when i was young.
I wish I had the pieces to make a version that's in scale with my Toa Inika Nuparu I turned into a Matoran for my own Bionicle story.
I remember this was my first bioncle set. I personally like the slapped together aesthetic. It looks like a scrap mech and I am super into it.
It is a scrap mech
@@zainismail6655 yes, I am saying that the parts and colors used were successful in making it look like a scrap mech.
Watching the play function have me an idea. Perhaps the Boxor was originally meant to be some sort of larger Bohrok, with extendable arms instead of an extendable head, but then became the Boxor for some reason.
That thing that you thought should be a visor for the pilot is like that top thing on the bohrok head
You should make a moc of this set. I think you can definitely improve it from it's flaws and make a perfect build
This set just proved that designing sets around gimmicks can work well. All of classic Bionicle worked with this amazingly but easy Lego drifted away from this as the theme went on
This alone is reason enough that Nuparu was worthy of becoming a Toa.
love the story line :)
Great stuff.
*Nuparu creates the boxor out of junk and a bohrok*
"Why is there this weird bohrok cranium? It looks like a mess of technic gears."
Okay, so I was seeing if I could find a boxor set on eBay for a good price, and I found pictures of boxers that have their arms pointed down, using a bohrok head shield as a windscreen thing, and being a lot taller, are they scams, or did the set come with instructions to make an alternate model? Thx
There is an alternate model
Dude, you always complain about the look of Bioncle as if they're all supposed to look the same. The design for this one is that of a Matoran built exo-suit whose primary function is to defend the village, not walk the fashion show runway. The reason it looks weird is because it's supposed to be a machine, not a humanoid.
That Tony Stark reference hilarious, awesome video's
It was quickly put together so it makes sense that design is sacrificed for the gimics
Edit: other than the 'controls'
Edit 2: I am at 11:27 now I posted the original comment when he first started listing his complaints, I should have waited for the video to end before commenting, whatever
I think it looks good
Uuuuhg! I love this set!
Great intro!
Personally i think Boxor looks beatifull it really looks bio mechanical in my opinion in a way it reminds me of the original xenomorph and the boxing mechanic is amazing honestly one of the coolest lego sets ive heard of
In my imagination after they dug out of the cave with the Boxor, DOOM musix started playing in the background as nuparo killed each borrok.
Isnt there actualu a B model featuring the Bohrok piece as visor?
9:48 THAT IS SO COOOOLLLL! They definitely don't make LEGO like they used to....
I had this when it came out and it was super cool
I got it for 20 bucks sealed, I love the features, they make the entire set worth it.
Actually, as long as the improvised-mechanical look of boxor might be something that not everyone like, as long ithink that New-Gen bionicle could contain something like that in future, also i must say that working with limited part count might bring really intresting effects, i have a bunch of models built from, "leftovers" of turning my enthire colletion of Bionicle into custom models, and must say that i like them more than most of thouse normally looking models. So bad i don't have better camera than one in mobile phone :P
I never leave the Tohunga arm on the back of the boxor; I needed Nuparu's throwing arm for my Onepu (which broke his) and thus gave that punch arm to Nuparu.
I miss your reviews dude.
11:07 Good Obadiah Voice.
Nuparu is just tony stark but his brain itself is in a robot body
