I've been making cold process soap for a year now and I use beer, coffee, colloidal oatmeal, honey, clays, aloe Vera puree and other additives.....i bought some goats milk from a local farm and I'm excited to try one of three goats milk soal recipes that I have. I love making soap. I will never use commercial soap again after making my own. 🐐 🛁 🚿
it’s best when doing milk soaps to soap when the lye and oils are room temperature because after poured in a mold the soap will begin to heat up again. You can put in fridge after poured in mold to keep soap from heating up too much, but if you are trying to reach gel phase , you def don’t want to mix your lye and oils if they are over 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit because the milk could over heat while in mold
Thank you for the video but I have never heard that you should only add fragrance oils after or near trace or it will completely dissipate .. I havent found that to be true at all. I mix many fragrances oils in with oils before adding lye so I don't get a big surprise if it happens to accelerate and the fragrance holds and lasts just fine.
Do you have any advice on how to buy the very best, sustainable oils? If I'm going to do this, I want to make it really great. Also, is there lye in the sodium hydroxide?
You stated that you were using sweet almond oil but the recipe listed apricot kernel oil 165ml. Did you substitute the apricot kernel oil for the sweet almond oil? Thank you
I have very sensitive skin and I really want to try your recipe so I was wondering am I able to change the milliliters 2 ounces? My scale only does grams and ounces
This looks awesome, not many here in Upstate N.Y. they are not close to buying... I tried a powder and oh my that was bad idea. Now I guess I will try the can version, Thank you for sharing. A new lil soaper
Just started looking up great soaps for the skin, and goats milk was a huge hit. Your easy recipe and cooling advice makes sense and I appreciate the advice. If I don’t have a temperature gauge can I let the lye and the oiled sit for about 2 hours then blend them? Then add the essential oils? Cheers, Sean
2 hours is typically more than enough time for them to cool down . But you need a temp gauge. Cause it’s best when doing milk soaps to soap when the lye and oils are room temperature because after poured in a mold the soap will begin to heat up again. This is my first time watching this video! I love it!!! My daughter started making soap. I’m going to share this video with her.... I’d love to buy some goats milk soap from you guys but I didn’t see any on your website or am I looking at the wrong product. I know you said a limited time but it would be nice if you had a goat milk selection. Thanks
Your daughter can make this soap for you I'm sure! I started making my own soaps 2014 and it's so fun to make them and then try them out. Maybe your daughter can teach you to make your very own soap?!
Hello from a former Dub who is now homesteading in Central Massachusetts! I love your video and have just made my second batch. The first did not come out so well. I am curious about the almond oil, you mention it, but it's not listed in the ingredients. Also, how long does the soap have to cure before it can be used? I followed your recipe to the letter, and my "batter" looks just like yours in the video, so fingers crossed. I'm curious to see what color my finished soap is. Would love to know how long your cure yours! Thanks very much for the video :)
Loved watching your clip. I am finally going to make a batch of soap tomorrow but i have one question.. How long do I leave the mixture to set before I cut the soap to size. Thanks
I’ve been on medication for anxiety since I was 11-12 and It’s 100MG now I sweat so much not just because I’m nervous I just sweat and can’t seem to stop, I had gone to the shops for my mum and came back with sweat soaking my back and armpits and I wake up covered in sweat sometimes, no deodorants seem to let this go (the odor) and the ones that do only last a short while, I was back on rispiridone last year and I don’t remember much but I remember my hygiene getting worse even though I was washing. I’ve tried perfumes, sprays, oils just to mitigate it it wasn’t this bad when I was Younger and I’ve been on medication for years now. I hope this will help.
I tried some goat's milk lotion and it feel good on my hands and smelled amazing. I wanted to make my own but I am not sure if I am ready for all of this or if I have the space to do it. Do you have a website where I can go purchase?
I know they poured all the sodium hydroxide in at one time with the ice cubes. But when those ice cubes are milk, then only put a bit of lye in at a time stirring then adding a little more and stirring. You can still scorch your milk by pouring it all in at one time
Is there any way I can make this soap without coconut oil / coco butter? Maybe replace it by other ingredients? My pores clog very easily. One use of coconut oil clogs my whole face and I want to avoid comedogenic totally
I made this soap today (my first time). Mine was an orange colour when pouring into the mold, just as yours was in the video. Yet your finished product is white. Why is that?
Your lye cooked the goats milk and slightly scorched it which is why it is yellow. Freeze your milk then add the lye a little at a time, stirring well. Don’t rush this part and it should be fine.
Hello thanks a lot for sharing the recipe but can you give me a rexipe witout coccoa butter and shea butter only with oils please in my country it is very very expensive and ill put it in the soap it wll be so expensive i sont think people Will buy it
Interesting question! It's a couple of things, partly to do with the heat during the soap making process and essential oils settling. And as the soap dries, it also cures which will cause the colour to change too.
Yes, sodium hydroxide can be caustic and corrosive, but you should not be using enough for it to be harmful or painful to the touch when making this soap. I understand not everyone should go around touching all sodium hydroxide solutions, but you are a bit misleading in this case.
I have sensitive skin. I used goat milk soap one day and realized that my skin doesn't itch or hurt. I am so happy and surprised. Love goat milk soap

I would really recommend get a temperature gauge lye can be very very dangerous

Can yogurt be used to make the soap instead of fresh milk?
All I needed to know was 2:19 & I skimmed straight to that point of the video 👏🏽 hahah thanks so much for the information! Great video.

Cold press soaps take about 4-6 weeks and melt and pour soaps take up to 24-48 hours
Wonderful video! Do you hear the goat milk lye solution on stove?
Hi .I could not make it at home how we can get from made by u?

What if you order goats milk in a bar of soap? We would need to melt it to then freeze it?

Awesome video!
Do you have a recipe for liquid soap?
so what temp is trace?
Cannot use sodium my skin my daughters very sensitive sodium, so I skip it add something else
I thought soaping with milk should be about 26-28 C.

What type of coconut oil is that, It is condensed and solid like, why ? Is there a brand for that kind ?

Instructions & measures w/ ingredients in the description area?
The soap looks so much whiter than the batter! Is there a reason for this?

How to make handmade soap..Karen Carpenter.. prescription..the brothers Grimm..🧙💤💤🌹
😅
At 3:03 of the video the subtitles say Gold smoke soap 🤣😂
Why do you have to pour the lye/milk into the oils always? Is there a difference?
If it’s the other way around the lye mixture can splash around and injure you since it’s corrosive
On 2:49 on the video you can see in the subtitles it says Dog smoke 😳. WTH ?
Can we use glycerin soap base instead of caustic soda???
no
Wait, all soap bars contain caustic soda??
O.o
Where’s the measurement?
Fast forward to 2:13 :)
Yes, sodium hydroxide can be caustic and corrosive, but you should not be using enough for it to be harmful or painful to the touch when making this soap. I understand not everyone should go around touching all sodium hydroxide solutions, but you are a bit misleading in this case.
Where are the normal people measurements?!?
Stadium hydroxide is not good
That's no lye
So annoying! He pours in a bunch of ingredients but doesn't say what they are! 😣😤😤😤
He sure does! Go to 2:13 and the full list of ingredients is there :)
