Hi everyone, it's great to be back! Now that I'm learning 'how to do RUclips' from the experts at Changer Studio (thanks Screen Queensland for supporting this amazing program!) I'm excited to get more consistency in my videos and how I share them. I do have two channels, which makes it a little more tricky (I love my sourdough baking just as much as my soap making 🥰) but I'm working out a plan to share more regularly and predictably, even if it's not every week! (I've never been able to do that anyway 🙄). Anyway, just wanted to say hi and thanks so much for watching my videos and supporting me over the years. I hope all the newbies get some joy and encouragement from this video! And more to come next month... Ps. Make sure you check out the video description, the recipe link is there! 🧼💚 Have a great weekend! xx Elly
So glad you're back Elly!! You've been missed! ❤ I know it's been a few days so I hope you see this. Thanks in part to you I'm doing well at soap making but what I'm struggling with is how to make my recipes the correct size for my mold?? I always make too much and that's wasteful. I watched your video and know my mold is 55 oz total but still can't figure out how much total oils I need to fit perfectly in my molds? Using soapcalc but still always have too much soap batter left over.
Thank you so so much for this video! I have been scouring the internet for a basic recipe to try and make my own soap, and have had a hard time finding something with exact measurements. I am so excited to start my little soap making journey, and you're now a little part of it! You're awesome.
Hi, i’m asking you to help how to spve my problem, i have mistakes when i make soap Reasons of way my mixture become a heterogeneous after adding the lyle and like u can’t fix it again it become thicker Ho you answer me Thank you
96 grams or 4 tbsp Caustic soda, 175 grams water, add caustic soda to water stir 30 seconds, 140 grams coconut oil or 6 tbsp, 1 cup shea butter melt, liquid oil your choice 490 grams, olive oil, avocado, castor now mix soda with oils mix with mixer until thicken add essential oils let harden then cut 8 bars put on cooling rack to dry
Aloha! Beginners out there: Have a go!! I've watched many of Elly's videos and, as a newby, I have made more than a handful of batches now. Out of those, only one was suspect, but it did eventually set itself up (patience). My family and friends are very impressed and they love the soap that has been gifted to them (different sizes, shapes, scents, colors). I also have a batch of liquid laundry soap (c/o Elly's recipe) that I am using downstairs in the laundry room, and a smaller container, a recycled ketchup squeeze bottle, in the upstairs bathroom for quick hand-wash items. Elly is a wonderful teacher! Go for it ~ Happily Hobby Soaping in Hawaii. 🤙PS. My 98 y/o Grandma saw the soap batches drying on the rack and said, "Good! Now we don't have to go to the store and buy, buy, buy." >> I'll take that as a Big Win 😀
Same here... ❤ I learned so much from Elly and my soaps are awesome. Friends love them and we too! I made the washing powder and I'm suuuper happy with it! I works fantastic! And even the dirtiest working clothes get fresh and perfectly clean with it...
Congratulations @ Inytita6763 I am starting out also but will have to wait a little bit longer setting up a secure space away from kids and pets, and sourcing of ingredients ect because when I start I don't what to stop, please tell Granny I agree with her no more buying soaps and we know what's in them ❤❤❤🎉🎉😂😂
I love watching Elly's videos as she is a great Teacher. Sounds like you have mastered it and have made beautiful gifts. Thank you for the inspiration.
Honestly, because of you, now my head-to-toe liquid and bar soaps as well as laundry detergent all use your recipes. I can't thank you enough. It's never too late. I'm 61 years of age and shifted into homemade soaps and detergent just 5 years ago. I'm getting more and more confident after watching your soap making videos. Cheers from your neighbor in Indonesia. 😇
I ❤ the spirit of Elly. Thank you for your selfless services to a community of soap making. When she shares a recipe, she gives her all, and you can sense it. She also states that if we can make it and she is a happy woman. That is pure. God bless your heart, Elly.
Aloha! 🤙Back again 4 weeks later. I used the milk carton idea as inspiration for my newest batch, currently saponifying overnight. Since Grandma gets Meals on Wheels delivered (senior meal service), there is always the school-lunch-size milk cartons available. I combined Elly's Shaker Honey-Castille recipe (Loved It > this time with turmeric infused olive oil) with the milk carton idea this afternoon. I have to keep reminding myself NOT TO PEEK! Since the Shaker Soap recipe is a small batch, I used 3 cartons (each a half-pint/8 fl oz/236 mL), and filled the cartons ~2/3 full (it's still a good sized bar; just right for Gram's grip). Tomorrow's going to be an exciting reveal 😁 Mahalo Elly for another wonderful idea!! 🤙
So happy to see back Elly, I made my 2 first soaps 2 years ago following your tutorials, and that's what my whole family loves to use these days. There is nothing like a simple ,nice, plain bar of soap. Thank you for all you do!!
I have been following you for a short time, but I appreciate all your videos, the simplicity of your recipes and the recipe to redo afterward. you are a give for a new mom like me trying to learn new things. may God bless you!!!
awwww!!! Ellyy I want to thank you soooo much! ❤ yesterday i made this soap and now I cut it and it's sooooo wonderful!🎉😊 oh i'm so in love with this idea and just how easy you explained it, you're a wonderful person!❤ thanks a lot🎉
It is so lovely to go back to basics, as a refresher, and as an alternative choice to including all the wonderful clays, sugar, salt, sodium lactate etc. This makes a very quick soap making exercise, not only for BRILLIANT BEGINNERS; but also for when time is short, and some ingredients are scarce. You still get beautiful bars of soap to use, and share with others. Thank you Elly! 🐾🥰
Absolutely Marion, less is often more when it comes to handmade soap (I reckon anyway lol). Thanks for your lovely comment, great to see you here with all the other familiar faces :)
Hi Elly, I have been making soap for a few years now and love your videos. I came across this one and was very excited, because I have a lot of different oils, and loved the fact that you shared this recipe. I made a loaf of soap on Saturday, following the recipe, using coconut oil and cocoa butter as my hard fats/butters and then I used a combination of rice bran oil, castor oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil and walnut oil. I entered all of the information into SoapCalc to make sure that the Soap Bar Quality was in a good range and it was. I usually do the CPOP method for my soaps, and put the mold in the oven with just the oven light on and left it for 24 hours. The following day, I removed the loaf from the oven and took the soap out of the parchment lined mold. When I was removing the parchment from the soap and put the loaf on the counter, I found that it was very soft. The outside of the soap looked pretty normal. I had found a video you had posted about the gelling stage of soaps, and I thought that might be what was going on, so I put the soap back in the oven with the light on and after 3 days, it is still very soft. I'm not sure if I did something wrong, or if it was just too many different oils that I used. It traced nicely when I poured it into the loaf mold. Do you have any suggestions that I should try to try to save it? I'm not sure if I should try to rebatch it, because I don't know how to identify the problem! Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you
Elly you re such a beautiful person and such a wonderful teacher ...❤ thanks for all this confidence you gave me for doing my first soaps. Since...I have already done many. Thanks for sharing and encouraging the beginners...once more : you re a wonderful teacher. Thanks for explaining clearly the security rules and de-dramatize the fears about doing soap ...❤
Thank you for this video. Even though I started making my soap watching your videos during COVID. I still make my own soap and love it. Blessings and glad to have you back on again. 🤗🌹
I recently got back into soap (and candle) making after many years away and I still think milk cartons and toilet paper/paper towel tubes are the best molds - I actually love the mottled texture they give. Thank you for the tutorial.
Elly is great, I spent years trying to pluck up the courage to make some soap and her videos got me going! I started giving the soap to friends and family and work colleagues who are all encouraging me to start selling my soaps, so who know, maybe that will be my next step! Thank you Elly!
You are such a beautiful teacher! I just want to thank you. I’m learning all I can from various YT videos and your video is the best because of your thorough explanations. I am certainly going to use your advice and I am making my first attempt at soap making. I will try to post a update on this here shortly. Thank you for your help ❤ oh and the soap bars look awesome with the slightly rounded sides as a result of the milk carton being flexible. Turned out to look really pretty!
Awesome! Thanks so much. I bought an online soap making course but I found I was quite intimidated and for months have not been game To try. I bought all the molds and cutters etc but they have just sat in the cupboard. The course used commercial already mixed lye but I think I like your version with the caustic soda better. Anyway I’m all fired up now to get started and frustrated because we are leaving tomorrow to go visit family for Christmas and I won’t be able to make any soap for a couple of weeks! 🤣. I’m going to track down your other videos but thanks for making this seem so simple. ❤
Grateful Elly! I'm in the heart of Africa producing cold press oils from crops grown in my garden. I am enjoying my 75 years of life and shall continue till the end. You have opened a great possibility started this month of August❤
After having a dream about making my own, I woke up and searched “soap making for beginners” and found this video. I watched it about 4 times over the course of a week while waiting for all the supplies to arrived from Amazon. This video made me feel so confident that I invited my fellow crafter best friend over and we made our first batch together. We followed the recipe exactly and our soap came out beautifully!!!! We used jasmine and honeysuckle scent from vinevida. They will be cured in time for Christmas! These will make wonderful gifts! I can’t thank you enough 🩷
I’m so glad I found your channel! I wanted to learn how to make soap as a thoughtful family Christmas gift for everyone. Now, I feel like I always want to make my own soap! Thank you for making this process so clear, concise, and encouraging 🩷
You can do it, I have faith in you! A trick I use to get started with something I've been putting off- I dedicate a container to hold all the ingredients on day 1. I add ingredients one day at a time, a spoon, an oil, a bottle, a measuring cup, the stick blender, etc. Something about keeping it to just one a day takes a lot of pressure off of starting a whole new project. When all the items are assembled, I can put the bucket/bag/box of items to use immediately, or more often, I need to put it away temporarily. When that happens, my next step is to make the project more inviting by making a display as beautifully as I can. By touching and familiarizing myself with the ingredients, it sheds the fear of the new, removing one of the blocks keeping me from actually starting it. Walking by the ingredients so nicely assembled inspires pride and encouragement, replacing the fear and worry. Helpfully when I go to start, everything I need is already together! Happy soap making, you totally got this. 💖
@@sydneymomma11 , So glad you understand even though it may sound a little crazy to others. The fear of failing is in the way. I have everything but the stick blender now so I will actively obtain one as I don't want to use my old faithful one. Thank you so much for your comment 💖💖💖
@@CreativeDee Absolutely! It was such a a game changer for me to realize I could actually help myself with kindness instead of the fear that seemed to swallow me up every time I did well, anything, not just new activities. I'm so excited for you to experience the rush of not only making your soap, and also the confidence boost you get every time you use it.
Thanks for your wonderful tutorials! I just made my first batch of EESM Beginner’s Soap using your recipe! I made it in individual molds. I did goof and overpoured about 5 grams of oil. Just like you said, it’s ok. Next time, I will weigh individual oils!😊 I put the tray of small molds in the oven with the light on for 24 hours. Probably peeked way more than I should, but they unmolded beautifully! I made notes in my soap notebook and you are known as ‘EESM’ because of how many recipes and tips I copied down from your awesome videos! I wanted to attempt getting familiar with Soapcalc using your Beginner’s Soap Recipe as a jumpstart. I think I am missing some key details; lye concentration and superfat %. and maybe something else? I couldn’t arrive at the same lye, water amounts as the recipe when I got to the final page. I watched your video about soapcalc, but the recipe used there is a different one. I did learn the Beginner recipe is 70% olive oil, 20% coconut oil, and 10% tallow (or alternatively shea, cocoa, mango or lard). Again, I am just trying it out, so my numbers could be off. I thought I might be able to use the percentage feature of Soapcal to use my leftover ingredients, determine appropriate lye/water concentration and make another batch. I am a bit blocked by the lye/water concentration concept even after watching several of your videos and thought it might help to see it/experience it…lol.
Dear Elly when I was starting to look into soaps 4 years ago I was petrified because I was not sure if I can do it. Your videos were the ones which gave me the confidence and necessary guidance to go for it and make my first batch of soap as well as my own essential oil blend for it. You are amazing. Thank you for everything from the bottom of my heart. Much love from Canada 🍁❤
This is so nice to watch and not so daunting to contemplate making. My question is this, if caustic soda is quite dangerous, then why to we apply it on our hands or body ? Maybe you can explain this. Thank you.
I had a go at soap making a few days ago (in UK) and really loved it. Your video was really helpful, as I thought I would have to use the same oils that we did then but clearly you can use more or less varieties. I will be watching more of your videos and blog to get more ideas and tips. Thank you so much.
Just a heads up too, if you feel nervous about the lye or DO get the lye solution on your skin, douse it in vinegar BEFORE dousing in water. Vinegar neutralises the caustic soda, water will make the irritation worse. Keep some vinegar on hand just in case.
That's not what the MSDS says, I'd definitely use water first, and lots of it! www.industry.gov.au/sites/default/files/2019-06/sodium-hydroxide-preservative-for-cyanide-samples.pdf
It's a bit late to make this soap for Christmas, it needs 6 weeks cure time. But I've got a video coming out tomorrow that can be made and ready in a month!
Thank you Ellie, you're so giving with your knowledge! I'll share this with folks on Facebook and especially my daughter-in-law, who I think would get into it.
I just used this recipe and i must say it's by far the easiest recipe to follow and it makes amazing soap! I cannot wait to follow more of your recipes and try to make more awesome soap! Thank you thank you thank you!
i ve been making beewax candle for one month now. a bit challenging ja...looks like making soap is easier....ve been wanting making soap too for many years now... så my next projekt thanks for sharing your love for making soap...can t wait to be cutting the soap
Trust will you, am writing this even before watching the video. It's just so heartwarming just the thought that there is a soaping video from my teacher who got me in to this a addiction . Made my label but am too lazy for actual business. I want to savour the soapmaking process. Have recently shifted out of swirls and concentrate on the different ingredients. Made soap with apple cider vinegar, banana, Greek yoghurt Hi! Am from India
Joya, that all sounds wonderful! We each have to try our best to live our lives in accordance with our own values, needs and circumstances. The great thing about soap making is that it's a rewarding hobby for a lifetime! And so practical. I'm glad you're having fun with those cool ingredients.
Have you tried making it w/ mango?! I did & it was such a great soap! Lots of lather & bubbles bc the mangoes were so ripe! I had so many mangoes on my property, I couldn't eat enough of them, though I was REALLY trying! Yum! 😂❤ Now I'm far away & in the cold, living w/ one of my sons bc his family needs me. But I dream of the day that I can go home again & make MORE mango soap! And maybe see if I can find other fruits as well. 💜🍉🍈🍌
Someone recommended your site for sourdough baking. I am watching one now but couldn't resist the soap making tutorial. Omg, you make it look so easy. After, I learn to work with fresh milled flour, soap making is next on my list. I’ll be back to watch all the soap making videos. Thank you! p.s. Your voice is wonderful for teaching.
Thank you Elly. So helpful and appreciate you utilising things we would most likely have at home. I'll be making some when the kids go to school!! Bless you
I made my first ever batch of soap in a milk carton over four years ago! Have been obsessed with soapmaking from the start and have learned so much since then!
Oh that's great! I made my first one in a milk carton too. It was the cutest thing 😄 I think once you fall in love with soap making, you never fall out. It gets you 💗
Great video for beginners. You really make it look easy, thank you. Gotta go... Oven says the sourdough is done. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷.
Thank you so much for this recipe. I have made a batch of soap before, but without the shea butter and found it went soft rather fast once using. I'm definitely going to try this recipe out. Thanks!
Just made my first batch using this guide, so thanks. Made a few little tweaks just so i could learn and play with the calculator. Lets see how this turns out tomorrow. Started out easy but eventually do want to start adding some sort of grit but lets walk before we can run :)
Thanks Gale, I really wanted to make a revised version, my other one is quite old now and basically a castile recipe! This one is much more balanced. Hope you're travelling ok 💗
Thanks Elly for another great tutorial. Do you have a tutorial on Tumeric soap? Will this take 4-6 weeks to cure? Do you recommend using unrefined or refined 'butters'?
Thank you so much for this!! I’ve been watching tons of TikToks and Instagram reels but I needed a much more detailed walkthrough. I’ve never made soap before but have wanted to for a long time, and you’ve given me a little confidence to do it!
I have just made this! My very first soap! Thank you for the recipe. I would love to try a honey and oats soap. It sounds nice, also I have these ingredients and am trying to keep costs down! Can anyone point me in the direction of a simple recipe? Many thanks. Ah, just found a recipe on your channel but more ingredients than I was hoping for!
Hi, I have two honey and oat soaps on the channel! Hope you enjoy them: Honey and Oat Cold Process Soap with Beeswax ruclips.net/video/tVCjcOewexU/видео.html Honey and Oat Hot Processed Soap - HP demo for beginners ruclips.net/video/4-2PM2NxlgM/видео.html
My first batch of handmade cold processed soap was 100% lard from the grocery store. Preferred it over the store bought stuff, especially since most brands I tried caused itchy and/or dry skin and sometimes rashes. Nowadays if I buy soap in a store instead of making it I stick to only ones that are cold processed, no issues with any of the brands or small business ones I've tried and they smell loads better I usually demold after 24 hours, rarely get the stickiness and can still cut the loaf. Since I don't have a cooling rack, I put my bars in a cupboard on a shelf protected by a layer of paper towel (its safe from my cats this way) and rotate it every day/few days/week (I can be forgetful lol) as it sits, it continues to cure and lose moisture causing it to get harder which will make it last longer. I believe soap is fully saponified after 24-48 hours and can technically be used if you're in a hurry. I tend to use the smallest or ugliest bar as a test bar to see if I like the recipe/batch immediately after demolding after 24 hours :) Wish my hands let me make soap more. lifting the bottles or jars of oils and butters, and scooping out the hard ones is rather painful for me. I used to have my sisters kids who loved to help measure the ingredients, but they live too far away now
Good Morning , Madam I am from India Punjab. Most probably I watch your tutorial videos especially on soap making at home. I found that your way of teaching to the beginners is enchanting. I am trying to hold a business on soap making at home because I have many family members and they have a lot of time for this. I have enjoyed full video . My blessings are with you to go ahead more and more. Thanks a lot MADAM G......
Great tutorial. I make soap for several years now and i usually use a very similar recipe (caustic soda, water, olive oil and coconut fat) and it works awesome. Just one hint, you should add citric acid (and more caustic soda, use a soap calculator) to prevent soap glue (not sure this is propperly translated) if you live in an area with very chalky water like south germany
hey thanks a lot..I also love soap making but I do not make the base myself. I purchase the base and add ingredients to it. I have made so e lovely soaps and I just love making them and using them too..
I’m thinking of starting to make soap and this video helped a lot ❤ however we also have a beekeeping business and I would like to infuse honey or beeswax into my soap, any idea of how I would do that? Thank u so much for this video it was very gentle and encouraging 🥰🥰❤️❤️
Check out my honey and beeswax soap videos. I have hot process and cold process recipes :) Honey and Oat Cold Process Soap with Beeswax ruclips.net/video/tVCjcOewexU/видео.html Honey and Oat Hot Processed Soap - HP demo for beginners ruclips.net/video/4-2PM2NxlgM/видео.html
Wonderful to have you back although I have been doing well from before your my blessing on soap making adventure just felt it was a good time to review your channel thank you
Always the best guide teacher for soapmaking missed your videos and instagram pop up that new video posted so excited I loved the yellow 💛 colour it was so lovely i feel the soap have nice creamy lather. Thank you mam for inspiring us. I too started learning from you now I got started an RUclips channel and sharing experience about soapmaking and cosmetics. This is all because of you madam your a great guide and learning from your videos is really good thing because I'm knowing or learning a new lesson from your videos . Thank you madam lots of love ❤️ from myself ❤
I just discovered your channel, I always wanted to have a go at making soap but I was always daunted by the process, you made it sound so simple, basic equipment, I love it and you have given me the confidence to give it a go, thank you, sending love from Ireland. ☘
Just made my first batch of soap thanks to your videos! Thanks so much for helping me try it out, now to see how it sets tomorrow and cures in 8 weeks :)
💜💜💜 I’ve made at least a hundred batches of soap and still love watching you! Always find some little “nugget” of information when watching you. Thank you! 💜💜💜
I've always wanted to try soap making but have been afraid to try doing it due to it's temporary caustic and hot nature. Now I can follow your video and try it, thanks!
I am a beginner soap maker, the tools were a little pricey here were i am, organizing my soap workshop and securing it because i have kids. I am looking for simple reasonable inexpensive soap recipe to start. I cant wait thank you for the information single mom here Thank you ❤❤❤❤🎉@EllysEverydaySoapMaking❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hi Elly, my name is Mookie I’m your newbie’s to day I came across to your channel after watching you teaching I’m very please and interested to learn how to make soap. Thank you so much 🙏
Hi, I just want to thank you & send my sincere gratitude for this lovely tutorial. My batch smells & looks amazing! I'm so excited! I am a beginner & the recipe I followed before from another channel had too much oil & the soap never solidified so I had to throw it out. I look forward to watching more of your vids. Cheers! 🎉
Consider yourself a happy woman, I just mixed my first(od many) batch of soap, while I baked a loaf of sourdough bread 😆. I need to. Heck your bread making channel. Thank you so much for your wonderful content. Your videos have inspired and are so great uplifting and informative. Thank you thank you Thank you!
Wow! Thank you so much for this easy to follow and inspiring video!! ❤❤ I've been putting off my first attempt at soap making because of lack of knowledge and confidence. That has all gone now thanks to your great videos. I can't wait to get started!! 😀😀😀
Thanks for the video! Super informative. I just made this recipe tonight, so we shall see what happens tomorrow. I'm curious to know what happens when the batter thickens too quickly. Between blending and grabbing and pouring my essential oils the batter thickened quite a bit. I still gave it a last stir and quickly put it into the mold, however I'm curious to know what effect this will have. Will my soap be okay?! Thanks so much for your videos!
I had been wanting to make my own soap. Cut the batch today! Buying a mold was holding me back, and your fantastic idea about a repurposed container hit the spot! Peeling the paper carton away to reveal gorgeous soap made me so happy!! I used eucalyptus oil. So thankful for all your work Elly!
Hello again, my batch is soft coming out of the paper mold. Its been 24 hours since I poured it. I am going to wait another 8-12 hours and see if it changes. Have you had soft soap before, and what should a beginner do about it? Thank you so much for all this valuable teaching! PS --my sourdough cinnamon rolls are proofing now, another thing I've learned about and experimented with alongside you!
Thanks for the video, I have some old dated Virgin Olive oil [dated 2013!] and though of making some soap. I have a number of questions: 1. Will this oil work being so old? 2. Where can I buy the sodium lactate and is there anything else I could use i.e could I use whey from yogurt making with table salt? 3. Is the mix still dangerous once you have added all the ingredients together? 4. I dont have a stick blender, could I just stir with spoon and/or a hand whisk? 5 I have lots of Rosemary in the garden, could I chop up the Rosemary needles and add this to the mix before pouring into the mould? 6. Could I use a chinese takeaway plastic of foil tray as the mould? 7. How do I measure the temp without a thermometer, could I did my gloved finger in it? Thank you for your help.
Hi, thanks for your video. You inspired me to make my own soap. Before i start gathering everything I would like to know whether we should keep all the utensils, spoons , hand blender separate from other kitchen tasks?
That's a beautiful video, Elly. Really nice and simple beginner tutorial. Actually I still make soaps like this for the past 3 years using your basic soap recipe and recycling milk containers.
I hope all the newbies get some joy and encouragement from this video! And more to come next month... Ps. Make sure you check out the video description, the recipe link is there! 🧼💚 Have a great weekend! xx Elly

Thank you for this brilliant video! I think I now have the courage to attempt soap making.
Have you seen this video? It explains how to work that out ruclips.net/video/ZguW6J3Jj2Q/видео.html
Thank you so so much for this video! I have been scouring the internet for a basic recipe to try and make my own soap, and have had a hard time finding something with exact measurements. I am so excited to start my little soap making journey, and you're now a little part of it! You're awesome.

Thank you
96 grams or 4 tbsp Caustic soda, 175 grams water, add caustic soda to water stir 30 seconds, 140 grams coconut oil or 6 tbsp, 1 cup shea butter melt, liquid oil your choice 490 grams, olive oil, avocado, castor now mix soda with oils mix with mixer until thicken add essential oils let harden then cut 8 bars put on cooling rack to dry
I think you need to weigh, not use tablespoons. If things are getting weighed in grams there is no way to match that accurately with tablespoons.

I love watching Elly's videos as she is a great Teacher. Sounds like you have mastered it and have made beautiful gifts. Thank you for the inspiration.
All thought i am new to this, this is the best and most gentle " How to " Video ever
Thanks so much
Honestly, because of you, now my head-to-toe liquid and bar soaps as well as laundry detergent all use your recipes. I can't thank you enough. It's never too late. I'm 61 years of age and shifted into homemade soaps and detergent just 5 years ago. I'm getting more and more confident after watching your soap making videos. Cheers from your neighbor in Indonesia. 😇
Oh thank you, yes we are close neighbours! 🥰
I ❤ the spirit of Elly. Thank you for your selfless services to a community of soap making. When she shares a recipe, she gives her all, and you can sense it. She also states that if we can make it and she is a happy woman. That is pure. God bless your heart, Elly.
Oh my goodness. You made my day. Thank you 💗🤗
God bless you to your journey
So happy to see back Elly, I made my 2 first soaps 2 years ago following your tutorials, and that's what my whole family loves to use these days. There is nothing like a simple ,nice, plain bar of soap. Thank you for all you do!!
Thanks so much Monica :)
I have been following you for a short time, but I appreciate all your videos, the simplicity of your recipes and the recipe to redo afterward. you are a give for a new mom like me trying to learn new things. may God bless you!!!
Thank you, you're very welcome!
awwww!!! Ellyy I want to thank you soooo much! ❤ yesterday i made this soap and now I cut it and it's sooooo wonderful!🎉😊 oh i'm so in love with this idea and just how easy you explained it, you're a wonderful person!❤ thanks a lot🎉
This is the best video for beginners I've seen so far. Very comprehensive. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks!
Hi Elly,
I have been making soap for a few years now and love your videos.
Thank you
Hi Carla, I'd give it a few more days and see if it hardens. Might be the oils you used.
Thank you@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking
Elly you re such a beautiful person and such a wonderful teacher ...❤ thanks for all this confidence you gave me for doing my first soaps. Since...I have already done many. Thanks for sharing and encouraging the beginners...once more : you re a wonderful teacher. Thanks for explaining clearly the security rules and de-dramatize the fears about doing soap ...❤
Thank you so much, it really means a lot to me that you found it helpful!
Thank you for this video. Even though I started making my soap watching your videos during COVID. I still make my own soap and love it.
Blessings and glad to have you back on again. 🤗🌹
Thanks, it's good to be here.
I recently got back into soap (and candle) making after many years away and I still think milk cartons and toilet paper/paper towel tubes are the best molds - I actually love the mottled texture they give. Thank you for the tutorial.
I never thought to use toilet paper or paper towel tubes. I can imagine that texture and it does sound nice :)
Elly is great, I spent years trying to pluck up the courage to make some soap and her videos got me going! I started giving the soap to friends and family and work colleagues who are all encouraging me to start selling my soaps, so who know, maybe that will be my next step! Thank you Elly!
That's great to hear, you're so welcome 🤗
Using a milk carton as a mold is a great idea! I will try this recipe for sure. Thanks for sharing!👍👍👍😊
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. I really like the shape this gives to the soap. Though it can be tricky to get it out!
I bought an online soap making course but I found I was quite intimidated and for months have not been game
To try. ❤
Thanks! I'm glad this was helpful. I've got a tonne of videos, all really easy and accessible with beginners in mind. Have fun.
Grateful Elly! I'm in the heart of Africa producing cold press oils from crops grown in my garden. I am enjoying my 75 years of life and shall continue till the end.
You have opened a great possibility started this month of August❤
You're welcome Richard, thank you!
That's so wonderful! Thank you for sharing.
I’m so glad I found your channel! I wanted to learn how to make soap as a thoughtful family Christmas gift for everyone. Now, I feel like I always want to make my own soap! Thank you for making this process so clear, concise, and encouraging 🩷
Wonderful!
You are such a great teacher. Calm and confidence building.
Thanks Jeanne :)
Thank you Elly. I bought the ingredients a while ago after watching a video of yours. I should get on with it instead of worrying about mucking it up.
Yes, keep it simple and just get that first batch made. Once you’re over that hurdle you’ll have a new perspective on it. I wish you good luck!
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking , Okay, Thank you. ❤❤
I think I am missing some key details;
lye concentration and superfat %. and maybe something else?
Thank you, I'm so pleased to hear that. Very glad to help :)
This is so nice to watch and not so daunting to contemplate making.
My question is this, if caustic soda is quite dangerous, then why to we apply it on our hands or body ?
Maybe you can explain this. Thank you.
Once the soap sits and cures for 4-6 weeks, it is no longer caustic.@@thimitrakallaras525
That’s lovely, as usual. You always give so much confidence. Thank you 🥰
Thanks, that’s my aim
I had a go at soap making a few days ago (in UK) and really loved it. Your video was really helpful, as I thought I would have to use the same oils that we did then but clearly you can use more or less varieties. I will be watching more of your videos and blog to get more ideas and tips. Thank you so much.
Thanks, that's great.
Thank you. I Love your video. Now i feel confident to make my soap.
I am inspired and I think I will have to make some homemade soap for Christmas gifts this year. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Thanks Mary!
Elly, you are the one who got me started making soap. Thank you! I'm having a blast. I love the shape this made. I'll have to try one here
Thanks Jenn, I'm glad you're enjoying it! I still love making soap after 10 years now. Have fun with this one, it's a nice recipe.
I just used this recipe and i must say it's by far the easiest recipe to follow and it makes amazing soap! I cannot wait to follow more of your recipes and try to make more awesome soap! Thank you thank you thank you!

Thanks Lauren, I'd love to make beeswax candles too. Glad you found this inspiring :)
I’ve had trouble measuring in ounces….it’s very confusing to me. So I measure everything in grams now, like Elly! It’s so much easier!!!!!
Awesome!
Made soap with apple cider vinegar, banana, Greek yoghurt

Joya, that all sounds wonderful! We each have to try our best to live our lives in accordance with our own values, needs and circumstances. The great thing about soap making is that it's a rewarding hobby for a lifetime! And so practical. I'm glad you're having fun with those cool ingredients.

Have you tried making it w/ mango?! I did & it was such a great soap! Lots of lather & bubbles bc the mangoes were so ripe! I had so many mangoes on my property, I couldn't eat enough of them, though I was REALLY trying! Yum! 😂❤
Now I'm far away & in the cold, living w/ one of my sons bc his family needs me. But I dream of the day that I can go home again & make MORE mango soap! And maybe see if I can find other fruits as well. 💜🍉🍈🍌
@@iluminameluna no haven't. Will do this mango season. Though have made some sundried tomato, any ideas how to use them in soaping

Oh yay that's so great Linda! Welcome to both of my worlds :)
Thank you Elly. So helpful and appreciate you utilising things we would most likely have at home. I'll be making some when the kids go to school!! Bless you
Sounds good Grace! Enjoy the process.

Thanks Elly for another great tutorial. Do you have a tutorial on Tumeric soap? Will this take 4-6 weeks to cure? Do you recommend using unrefined or refined 'butters'?
I mix my lye solution on the cooktop with the extractor fan going and the fumes get sucked away. Works perfectly
Thank you so much for this!! I’ve been watching tons of TikToks and Instagram reels but I needed a much more detailed walkthrough. I’ve never made soap before but have wanted to for a long time, and you’ve given me a little confidence to do it!

@@EllysEverydaySoapMakingThank you!
My first batch of handmade cold processed soap was 100% lard from the grocery store. Preferred it over the store bought stuff, especially since most brands I tried caused itchy and/or dry skin and sometimes rashes. Nowadays if I buy soap in a store instead of making it I stick to only ones that are cold processed, no issues with any of the brands or small business ones I've tried and they smell loads better
I usually demold after 24 hours, rarely get the stickiness and can still cut the loaf. I tend to use the smallest or ugliest bar as a test bar to see if I like the recipe/batch immediately after demolding after 24 hours :)
Wish my hands let me make soap more. lifting the bottles or jars of oils and butters, and scooping out the hard ones is rather painful for me. I used to have my sisters kids who loved to help measure the ingredients, but they live too far away now
I love this Skye, thank you for sharing with me.
Thanks Elly!
You made it sound so simple to make and inspires me to make some of my own...Hello from the. Philippines!

I’m going to try this! Thank you for sharing ❤️ uh but plastic containers and the micro leaching and the use of a microwave I will not be copying 🫤
Thanks, yes I made a video about that :)
Very nice soap Elly! Thank you for sharing.

Your soap will be fine, it's more of an annoyance rather than anything else. Just blend a little more cautiously next time.
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you! I'm so glad everything went alright the next day. My soap is curing happily :)

So thankful for all your work Elly!
Yay! That's exactly why I made this video. Thank you, and congrats!
Hello again, my batch is soft coming out of the paper mold. Its been 24 hours since I poured it. I am going to wait another 8-12 hours and see if it changes. PS --my sourdough cinnamon rolls are proofing now, another thing I've learned about and experimented with alongside you!
P.s.s. - I also watched your video on the gel phase, so I tried insulating it in a cooler with a towel around the mold.
Fabulous! You make it look so easy. I will give it a go.
Watching you cut soap is a thing of wonder Elly!!!
Every time I try, it starts confidently and they end looking like wedges! 😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks for the video, I have some old dated Virgin Olive oil [dated 2013!] and though of making some soap. I have a number of questions:
