Just awesome! I really enjoyed this vid and all the Moonkin lovin'. It's a long vid but I think anyone who has been Moonkin-bashed but loves the class (and not just for the cute tail) should watch this. Moonkin is not for the faint hearted. It's intricate, involved, demanding and it's open for experimenting. I have played a druid since 2005 and now back at it again in classic and I can absolutely endorse this video!

Some tips on your next video that would help out with new viewership:
- Do some in-depth research about the subject you're interviewing, the start comes off as the host being completely unknowingly, you sound native, but perhaps a script would help?
- Volume, both speakers should be the same since listening to this on mobile and I couldn't follow, Heslig should be way louder. Try recording in .mkv to have multiple soundtracks, this also helps in post.
- Literally no structure in a 52 min video, viewer retention is a thing mate, make sure you let your viewers know what they get themselves into, where's a timeline or some bar in the lower thirds letting you know how far you are? Also covering the multiple subjects of a boomy, why are there no timestamps in the description?
- No gameplay? I skipped through most, but I really wanna see gameplay footage or atleast some change of scenery.

I can agree with the later points , but that he didn't have any experience with balance druid is the point of the video, he's educating himself/us watching :)
It's kind of like those kids documentaries where a reporter goes to a factory and asks the people working there how things work and what they do, because they genuinely don't know themselves but educate themselves/the viewers at the same time.

Wow. First time i learned fight lenth can mean you cat switch hit with crit. This guy really knows his theory.

Thank you very much for clearing some missconsepitons! I think balance in any kind can be a lot of fun... and guess what i play classic to have some fun :)
I love leveling as a boomkin, literally just open starfire then root then starfire spam until dead. on top of that chain killing and chain cc's is bonkers depending on the mobs and area. fighting beasts in outdoor zones is just amazing simply cuz you can potentially fight 3 mobs at once with 2 cc'd. I also have a specific talent set to bypass the need for drinking by weaving between catform and caster form/moonkin form. take advantage of spirit/intellect gear makes leveling easy and you can easily fill as a healer if needed in group content :P
It would've been really nice if you had timestamps for the specific points you go through, like gearing, talents, rotation, the pros and cons, how the common perception is and what he feels is wrongly perceived. The interview feels a bit improvised, but is otherwise good =)

Great vid. Balance should be quite fun in pvp. Looking forward to a possible tbc release and balance pvp then, where it is so much better.
Keep the differentiation of "vanilla" and "classic" please. Kinda confusing.
Judging by warcraftlogs he is actually not just the top but the highest moonkin DPS. For some reason some ferals litter that balance sheet.

I love how he says bring a flask every time like everyone just has 250g for a 2 hour buff lol this isn't even a game if you wanna be good its a job.
I mean, let's be real. No guild is going to give their random boomkin a debuff slot for moonfire and power infusions on top of that. There aren't even enough debuff slots to get all the priority ones, especially once P3 hits and Nightfalls come in, guilds start completing thunderfury, and melees start stacking annihilators for the armour debuff. It gets even worse once you hit AQ and the arcanite dragonling fire debuffs + ignite come in to play. The discussion should be focused more on what a normal balance druid is going to experience in an actual raid setting where they aren't the guild master. If they tryhard to the absolute max, they might be lucky to be in the top 15 of damage in a guild where everyone else tryhards. They might creep up on multidot fights, but they'll still never be in the top 10 unless you're in a guild of complete casuals.

@@nosson998 Did you read the comment? I never said that balance druids won't find a raid spot. I'm saying that they won't get debuff slots in any guild that isn't full of casuals with no clue what they are doing. I also said that in a guild full of tryhards, they'll be lucky to be in the top 15 damage, which is true.
well not every week is a speedrun. we do every dmf buff a speedrun so on the other 2 ids where no dmf is there you can do some fun stuff and why nor let your boomkin make some good pharses on non dmf ids? if he take a flask and a wl frees him up a corrupion slot or so its absoluty np. so owl gets his logs and the raid will not die because u have a moonfire instead of a corruption. playing balance is politics mostly. i would never raid as balance in proogress taking bis gear away from casters that do 100-200% more dmg than me. but in the aftermath when u just loggin and speedrunnin its fine to bring em on ;)
i can only speak for me mc bwl zg aq20 all np (did aq40 a few times as well and even did 2 runs in nax but at 4hm i switched back to my main even if nax was on farm then i have to admit). Your numbers look quiet good there since most ppl dont flask in current wow because lotus is crazy expensive with 3-5 times the players compared to 15y ago. on pservers u had always a flask (they added faster more rnd dynamic spawns to stop spawncamping all day like here in classic) on when u playing balance. here in classic (2 days ago) i was in zg the day i dinged 60 (well i was there with 57 before but that was useless cause of not maxed dmg spells^^) with world buffs and no flask doin close to 400dps on some fights. gettin top 50 logs ww and even few nr 1 logs on my server in zg all that with item lvl 56, just some prebis and bloodvine thats all. ill guess if u have some raidgear and a flask up its possible to go over 600dps. then u add engi stuff like grenades or even more important sappers a good sapper can add 50-100 dps depends on the fight and killspeed of your group.
im sure in later phases we get even higher i guess in the dark 800 or so and if the critluck god bless you and u take a chance on low hit gear and roll the dice there is a chance a balance druid can crack 1k.
im sure ill can do 600 on next dmf id when i have now 3 weeks to get some gear and maybe farm a flask but im not sure they cost freaking 280g here on lucifron server ^^
all that said if all stars align u can do as much dmg as a fire mage with closed eyes so it will ofc never be great but it can be decent.
It takes physical strength to be a balance druid.

Interesting point is how Progress speedran its MC! They used only one druid, and that one as a moonkin, because druids are the worst high end healers as they aren't allowed to use Regrowth/Rejuvenate because it pushes dps buffs off the table. And Feral druid's Feral Faerie Fire has too long of a cooldown for them, so they use a balance druid that starfires when all the FF has been applied.
