    You do an excellent presentation on the subject. Everything I read confirms the results you have shown ; from 875 to 925 is the velocity range that seems to work the best with most .22 cal. pellets , regardless of who makes them. Some guns are of coarse pellet picky ; can't change that.

    baaie dankie meneer. I have recently bought an FX impact mk3 and I am trying all sorts of different ammo in it at the local gun club on the 50m range. I haven't had much success with the H&N 18 grainers but I have purchased JSB diabolo's in 13, 14 and also 15 grain like you use in the video here. I am still finding my way into tuning the velocity and I haven't installed the heavy slug liner or the slug power kit for those heavier rounds yet. All in all I am very grateful for your video and I'll be sure to try out these 900+ FPS with the 15 grains this friday. Greetings from The Netherlands and you also have a lekkere dag :)

    I heard said that 880 fps for 22 caliber pellets is the sweet speed zone and my MKIII WILDCAT likes small headed pellets. Even the 14.3 hp Crosmans like that speed. One 3/8” hole at 25 yards. Your Impact seems to like that area too. I’ve never tried any of these pellets most are hard to find in stock. Thank you so much for the video. You get a like and subscribe for sure. I really appreciate the speed shooting.

From 780 to 830 up to 880 fps ! It is the pellet shape...short and clumsy but soooo sweet !!! You see, I love that round !!!! And those give me 20 more shuts per fill vs the 18.13 gr.`s !!!! If the gun is a laser at 810fps leave it be, only adjust speed if accuracy and consistency isn't perfect. Each barrel is different, what worked for me might not work for you. I have a few guns running slow speeds on purpose - because they are lasers at that speed and distance I shoot.

    Nice and informative video Gert but:
    1. 30 m is too close to determine the real potential of pellets because most of them start spiraling well beyond 30 m ( in case of the wrong speed and twist ).
    2. I think It will be more useful to shoot at 50 and 75 m.
    3. Could You try JSB redesigned 25gr pellets at 50+ m?

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  3 года назад +2

      I do agree, pellets and wind is an all together ball game. I will repeat the exercise at 50m and then take the best 3 of each pellet and speed to 75m. The redesigned I usually shoot from my other FX that is setup for slugs, the Redesigned's performed best at 870 fps all the way up to 940fps, but maximum distance about 75m, they don't like a side wind for some reason.

      Unfortunately each barrel is different, but the speeds given here should be a very good indication in all guns. Most of my guns love the .22 pellets at 840fps to 870fps.

    • @SifuTimBerkemeier
      @SifuTimBerkemeier 2 года назад

      @@AimSmall do you think the same is true with velocities for other calibers

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  2 года назад

      @@SifuTimBerkemeier Nope. in 177 the best accuracy is at a much lower speed, but at the lower speed wind becomes a massive issue. The diabolo shape limits the speed versus accuracy... to fast and the pellet destabilizes, too slow and it drops like a rock and the iwnd pushes it.

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  2 года назад

      @@victimofthewomenslawcenter4430 If you shoot long distance pellets upping the speed might work, the pellet will take longer to stabilize and will not be accurate at closer distances. Once it stabilizes through the air it will carry more speed for longer. In other words it is going to spin/loop over the first 25 to 40 yards until the pellet stabilizes itself and then it will fly straight.

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  3 года назад +1

      I do this with the Helix scope on my slug gun, but I don't like the adjust-ability of the Hawke Sidewinder, the clicks aren't crisp and I don't feel comfortable dialing it like my Helix. The correct thing would be to dial it, but I am used to shooting mil dots and Mrad due to the HFT shooting I do. Yes, I am only human and an error will creep in here and there, I don't do double takes, what you see is the first hand experience I got, doing re-takes allows the person to manipulate results and only pick the best ones... If you shoot 20 groups with the same gun you will eventually get a good grouping, or get lucky. Thank you for the advice, now to get past the wife for another Helix scope...

  • @peteralexben
    @peteralexben 3 года назад +1

    maybe ,you should try the test at 15 - 30 - 50 meters or more at some time ,because if a gun has a good shot to shot speed, it is possible that you got good groups at 20 meters and not at 50 because of spiraling and wind. spiraling is the biggest factor of large groups together with speed from shot to shot. from the gun factor not wind and shooter included. if you shoot the pellet at 805 fps ,the pellet wil go at 50 meters slowwer ,and what about ,7,5 joule or 16,3 joule guns .its the twist and pellet fitting that also counts

      The .177 is a bit of a challenge due to the 12ft.lb restriction, I like to shoot pellets at 840fps but that is more than 12ft.lb and none of my guns are setup to do so. For my current setup I prefer 785fps, I get the most consistency there. Slower and the wind pushes it too hard and it drops out of the air like a brick beyond 40m.
