- In this video I break out a brand new Milwaukee M18 rubber broom attachment for the M18 power head with Quik-Lok and test it in my yard. I want to see how well it will remove gravel and debris from my established/semi established lawn.
Ha, I wrote my comment too early! I see you actually flipped the whole unit over later in the video and tried it. We live on a 55 MPH county road in the middle of Wisconsin with gravel shoulders, and the county snow plow drivers seem to make it their goal to scrape as much of the gravel from the shoulder as possible and throw it into the lawn. The Kombi rubber broom attachment has been a lifesaver for me. As soon as the snow melts in the spring, I get out there to put the gravel back on the shoulder where it belongs. Thanks for the video!

I have the rubber broom attachment for my Stihl Kombi gas engine system, and I have found that removing the guard and turning the gearbox 180° on the shaft so that it flings rocks back toward your feet works so much better with so much less effort. Hold the trigger down and let it walk itself forward, then while keeping the trigger depressed pull it back toward yourself with one hand. So much easier and more effective. Of course I cannot recommend that because it is probably terribly unsafe 😮, and you do get some rocks in your boots, but man does it work better.

I questioned alot on how it would do with dead grass before buying. Hard to use in a lawn as a push broom, BUT! As a pull broom, after a quick sports mod, its awesome! Tears out dead grass and dirt, leaves the good grass, great tool for a lawn reseeding. Wear your safety glasses tho 😆

Thank you, and thanks for watching. I also bought the bristle brush attachment shortly after this. It does do a bit better for getting rocks and debris out of the yard. But, where the grass is even slightly thick, it's still not that great. The bristle brush does ok for sweeping concrete/asphalt. But, for the cost, you could buy a blower and a push broom and it would do just as good, if not better. Hope this helps.

Did you try the bristle broom?
I did. It did a little bit better job for the task of removing rocks and debris from the lawn. It was also great for sweeping snow off the sidewalk. But removing stuff from my lawn was pretty much a one time task, and here in middle TN we don't get a lot of snow. So it wasn't worth keeping around, so I sold it. This is probably one of those things that is better to borrow or rent for the very few times a year you might need it. Hope this helps.

Maybe thatching your lawn first with tines then hit it with the broom, works much better. Asking an electric broom to pull rocks out that have been smashed into the ground seems a bit unfair .
That is a pretty good point. At the time I didn't have a dethatcher, I do now, and if I was going to rely on the broom to clean the rocks out, I would definitely try it the way you described. But, to be fair, some of the rocks that the broom wouldn't remove weren't exactly what I would call "smashed" into the ground.
@@kevinofalltradesagreed, I purchased the sweeper to clean up stump grindings after the blower, going to give it a whirl tomorrow.
@@kevinofalltradesI was wondering the same thing about dethatching it. For all intents and purposes I think it did exactly what it was intending. Particularly because I feel that if it were to begin actually digging into the rocks that were, even lightly, embedded into the ground the broom would begin damaging the grass which is completely against its intended use.

What battery are you using
I have a High Output XC8.0 that is my primary and is usually enough to trim my entire yard. I have a pretty large yard, so that's pretty good. When I also edge my around my sidewalks and such, I also have an XC5.0 that I use to finish up. Between all the trimming and edging, I usually have a bit of juice left in the 5.0. I didn't run the broom long enough or consistently enough to get a good idea of how long the 8.0 would run it.
Idk man, kinda unfair review. I would of cut the grass shorter, hit it with some tines or hand rake then the power broom.
Maybe push the debris onto the concrete to sweep it up.
Guess everyone's OCD has different levels 😂
Please see my reply to @mightymouse2893 in regards to the "tines" or dethatcher. Whereas I do agree that in order to get this type of job done in the best way possible, using some different tools in conjunction with each other would have produced a better result. But as far as the review being unfair, we might have to agree to disagree. The purpose of the review was to see just how much it would remove and how well it would do it on its own, not with the assistance of other tools.
