This is a great effectivization! No one needs to go to university for four years in order to make DCF's and PowerPoint slides. Great for banks also so they can lower labour costs.

I think these programs are great I hope companies make these more common. I wonder how likely one is to become a Front Office well paid Investment Banker after the four years. If it’s more or less likely than going to school and finishing top of your class or landing an early internship. Or is it like other jobs we see people getting promised a career path to dream position but the chance of them actually getting that far are very little. 🤔 But work experience is everything so having a couple years of experience and you’re serious about your career I don’t see why they wouldn’t hire them. I would take this opportunity as well if I had the opportunity at 18 . Because Reality is that going to University definitely doesn’t guarantee a dream position at a top firm.

It's crazy for me seeing something like this because I just started a trainee programme within Debt Capital Markets (Syndicated Finance) so I was a bit confused seeing it being advertised as the "first" FO IB apprenticeship in the UK.
Then I realised the balance between studying for my degree and working on the job isn't strictly 20:80 so it's not called an apprenticeship programme for me it's called a "vocational trainee programme".
Regardless, I love this initiative it's such a good move I'm already learning so much on my job and have been getting hands on with projects and whatnot that I wouldn't have dreamed of doing at 18 if I went to uni full time. And with JPM doing it I hope apprenticeships get further recognition!

@daisy boke hey apologies for the late response. It rly varies dependent on bank (I'm not at a BB) and position but for me as a trainee it's like 8-18.30 because obvs I'm still learning atm (only started 2 weeks ago) and I'm not doing lots of deals and stuff. From what I've seen for the grad interns/analysts and associates it's abt 8-7 or potentially longer but it can vary if ur working on a deal or whatnot. Can't rly comment on ecm.

I'm not doing lots of excel in my team as 1. I'm in more of an origination team (I'm in LCM so it's Loan origination) and that's a lot more documenting and communicating with clients to get the deal as good as we can, and getting a deal on the books (In a way there's a lot of small details too niche to explain in a comment lmao). And 2. Someone is leaving the team at the end of the month so I'm working hard learning all the concepts/theory to get up to speed with their work so when they leave I've got some idea what to do, so even tho there's potential for excel stuff I don't rly do it. I'm moving round teams (next para) as the programme is 3.5 years so I'll eventually be doing a lot more.
Another team in our division, corporate finance, do a lott of excel because they do a lot more modelling, analysing statements and researchy type work. There's also a trading team close to us that does other things.
It's hard to state over a comment so I'm hoping u get the gist of it 😅😅

I’m really unsure after this, I planned on applying to London School of Econ for Accounting and Finance with Warwick as insurance, getting that degree from there sets me up nicely, but now an apprenticeship at JP Morgan is compelling, but then the concern of failing to break into front office, I’d want to go into Private Equity after a couple of years at IB, and am unsure if going via apprenticeship would be sufficient to get into PE assuming I got into Front office, it’s so new with so little past knowledge and people’s experience

Well i will also say this here, for me i still find cryptocurrency very important mostly when it comes to bitcoin trading due to the fact that bitcoin is still very bullish. I so much advise everyone to get involved in day trading so as to grow the little we can afford with a working strategy/daily signals, However its been of massive success for me because i have been trading with Mr Nicholas strategy/daily signals with a proper guides in day trading for over 6 months now. During my first 5 weeks of trading with Mr Nicholas daily signals i was able to accumulate and grow my portfolio from 1.1btc to 6.8btc which you would agree is a very good profits. I will kindly advise we should grow the little we hold ahead of the major bull run, Myron can be reach via instagram @nicholas__fxtrade for inquiries into profitable trading systems.....
