ANSWER: Corporate banking really cares about your image. Most people are afraid that if they say anything bad about the job they won't be able to go back and work there. Plus other jobs will not hire you for the same reason. So bad mouthing about any IB, Consulting, PE jobs is considered taboo...

I had a networking call and they said that getting an interview is all through pymetrics and the hirevue now for JPM. They said networking doesn’t do much now. On WSO people said the same thing
i could see networking being less important now but will confirm in a future video. i do know at least for MBA recruiting networking is still important though maybe they don't use digital interviews as much

However, I was still there going to every class, so now that I work for a bank and I have a good career I never look at GPA (at all) when looking at a resume because there is millions of people that are super super talented, disciplined and dedicated that don’t have a good GPA either because of work, English as a second language, bad exam takers, etc.
What about an incomplete masters degree with higher gpa than complete bachelors degree with lower gpa? Have 18/30 credits done for the masters done a few years ago but always left it out of resume. Math degree in USA.

I consider that it is going to depend on what are of the bank are you, if you are in the commercial retail, it's going to be difficult to enter. But if you are in the corporate finance area it will be useful. I started in the corporate area and the it had given me a wide panorama of the industries and how banks use to review the debt/investments. In that case going to IB for M&A and Debt restructuring was a good idea given the knowledge. But if you are in the commercial area for individual people loans, hmmmm I would try an MBA or something similar to enter to a nice boutique to later go directly to a big firm
that is why people are now quitting their jobs and starting their own businesses (ex youtube, e-commerce). The 8-5 life is pretty draining without a lot of compensation.

When I got the actual fact about salaries was during the lockdown. Salaries don't make you rich. I went into trading just last year and I bought my first house in the beginning of this year. Then I realised I wasted a lot of time.

Once you pass the first filter ... It does not mean much your Gpa once you left bachelor's, all is about knowing your numerical skills, modelling and known of the industry (oil, retail, proj fin, etc). And having tons of knowledge of the network and industry as well .

I would imagine it would be acceptable if you also had an advanced mathematical/cs knowledge to go with it. You would have to demonstrate some potential in economics and finance also to be considered.
humanities majors would be a pretty big uphill battle. don't think i remember anyone getting an offer with anything like an english major (I almost doubled in English at college so I would've been an advocate). You can make up for a non business major through strong finance experiences but at that point why wouldn't you just major or double major in a business / stem major?

My experience is, GPA doesn't mean anything in too many cases. Some of the best GPAs turned out not too well.

Never heard of a 4.3 scale. I assume most recruiters are thinking out of 4. If anything put 3.7/4.0 or 3.7/4.3 if you’re worried!
