  • Welcome back to Driven Dave. Today I'm excited to share a video about a 2018 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor that was loaned to me while my Tesla was in for service. This particular car is equipped with an acceleration boost and "full self-driving" ($17k worth of software upgrades). I'll discuss the driving characteristics and some comparison thoughts based on my experiences with the 2022 Model 3. This video would be particularly helpful if you're considering buying new or used.

      @@shilver101 How do you feel about the vehicle after a month of ownership? I'm looking to trade in my 22 Kia Forte GT for a 2019 Model 3 LR with 38k miles. Mostly because of the gas prices right now. I do drive about 30k miles per year, though I will have a charger installed at home so I can charge overnight. :)

      How has your tesla be thus far?

  • @CumBrianFries
    @CumBrianFries 10 месяцев назад +6

    Tesla only started putting heat pumps in Model 3s at the end of 2020 so only model year 2021 onwards have them. Also, the sound could be better because current Model 3 only have 13 speakers as opposed to 14 speakers in Model 3s built before the 2020 refresh.

    • @TheDrivenDave

      I wasn’t aware about the sound. Still sounds great.

    IIRC Tesla's steering wheels were still leather in 2018. Not 100% sure, but I am sure that the steering wheel was the last thing for which Tesla found an acceptable alternative to leather.

    • @TheDrivenDave
      @TheDrivenDave  Год назад

      It definitely has a more premium feel to it. It will be curious to see how the new steering wheels age. So far after 26,000 miles, my steering wheel is still in really good shape. Hopefully whatever material they are using holds up as well as the early models.

    I just purchased a 2018 M3 RWD long range had 31k miles at purchase for 30K out the door. I love it. Will most likely upgrade in a couple years when the 120k mi/8yr battery warranty goes.

    I could be wrong but I was under the impression that Tesla disabled all ultrasonic sensors in order to focus on Tesla Vision. So even though this car is equipped with them, they are no longer being used.

      @Vageta1999 Год назад +1

      That’s not the case. They did that for radar but not the sensors as of now. The vision system is much worse at the moment so I think that’s a big reason why

    Toying with buying one of these. You can get them for 30-35 now. And will probably drop more as people buy the new ones.

      It’s quite roomy and comfortable for me at 6’2”. When the whole family is in the car it can be a little tight. Model Y is definitely the play if you need it for family hauling. I use my car by myself 90% of the time and it’s great. I even take naps in the car.
