The heat pump does double duty of cooling and heating. The resistive heater does heating and cooling is done by a separate unit, which is why it does it faster but also not as efficient. Heat pumps are just way more efficient

Things better about 2018 vs today’s LR model 3:
    Passenger lumbar
Premium sound system has 14 speakers vs todays 13
    Steering wheel is superior
Resistive heater performs better in sub freezing temps (albeit costing more energy)
    Homelink used to come standard
That’s all I can think of!

If that is a 2018 Model 3, that steering wheel is leather. Tesla didn't start doing non-leather in the Model 3 until 2019. The reason it's smooth is because leather steering wheels smooth out with age, that's not the original finish. I guess leather buffs would call it a patina. The steering feel could be different because things do wear out with time so it could be a mechanical wear thing, but also quite likely is that the new LFP standard range cars weigh slightly more than the old LR RWD cars by about 200 pounds, so the steering is likely just naturally lighter feeling.
Some other things that are nice about the older cars: the rainbow roof - when you get it wet, the roof turns orange (early-mid 2018 cars have that but started phasing out late 2018), and the door panels (all 4) in the older cars are wrapped in vinyl rather than being hard plastic like the new door panels (late 2019+)

A matte screen protector makes the image a little less sharp. This is because in order to get a matte finish you need imperfections in the surface.

Black seats: I prefer black leather seats (non-perferated). The reason is I've had and seen other cars with fabric seats and they are usually very boring light grey or some crazy random pattern (think 80s/90s Toyota).
With solid black leather, you can't go wrong, visually. Hides dirt. Doesn't distract your eyes. Leather is easy to clean.
White or cream looks dirty easier and is too bright.
    These are my opinions.
Yeah the white seats are eye catching and looka great.

New regen options in the settings... You can enable assisted breaking in limited regen scenarios.
I have a 2018 with just over 80k mi. No issues so far and has never been to a service center at all... I have the side camera lag too.
There are optional cup holder and pocket things you can buy that fit between the steering wheel and door that may help a bit.

A heat pump is just an “air conditioner” than can run refrigerant in either direction through the loop: one direction of refrigerant flow pushes hot air out one heat exchanger (e.g., into the cabin), and the other direction of refrigerant flow pushes hot air out the other heat exchanger (e.g., out of the car). The “heat pump” Teslas may be a bit slower at heating than the old resistive heating Teslas, because many heat pump systems use what’s called a “reversing valve” to control the direction of refrigerant flow, and that will take a little time to be set to the proper position before the heat exchange process can actually get going.

Fairly consistent with what I see in my brother's 2018 M3 AWD vs my 2022 M3 LR. He had to call Tesla Service to install the phone wireless charger and new CPU for onboard computer while mine has those pre-installed. But one thing that his car has while mine doesn't is built-in HomeLink (garage opener). It costs $350 to install one now.

My dad has a 2019 M3 LR Rear-Wheel Drive, and compared to my mom's 2022 MY LR Dual Motor, the Model 3 has a faster, quieter HVAC system, sharper definition on the 3 cameras (trust me its NOT the screen protector or a dirty camera), real leather steering wheel ( which I will always prefer over the "cheap" feeling ones on new Teslas), the option to choose a lower level of regenerative breaking, lighting on all 4 door storage spaces, passenger lumbar support and a bigger frunk with hooks for groceries. With that said, the Model 3 has a slower infotainment system compared to the lightning-fast AMD Ryzen infotainment system of the Model Y, the Model Y (and the entire lineup) has a powered lift gate which our old Model 3 doesn't, our Model 3 doesn't have the Matrix LED headlights, and it has H2.5 for Autopilot. I still love the our old Model 3 despite the differences it has to the Model Y ( I prefer the 3 over the Y because of the sporty feeling). It still gets almost all of the new features in software updates so no need to be upgrading to a new Model 3 in a long time.
