I both agree and disagree. Trying to figure out the pattern and screwing up multiple times is what makes the journey so grand. It's a game with only boss battles. If you could figure out and defeat each in five minutes, the game would be quick and unremarkable. Definitely in my top five of all time.

    • @basketbomberslackingson4417

streetmagik only exception I can think of is when the colossi just wont use the actions required to climb it
Gaius’ swing (wonder why he doesn’t do that instead of slowly walk towards me just to stomp or thrust straight down LOZ master sword style)
Ol’ thunderhorns of the lake (not Hydrus the eel, PS4 remake)
Phaedra/horse bro (please just peek your head down... please!)
Hydrus loves heavy metal music (PS4 remake, ok this isn’t a complaint with Hydrus it’s just... I freaking love this colossus for one reason... when I get close to his head after disabling all electric spikes, sometimes he’ll bug out and instantly duck below the water at the speed of a ramming Celosia and rise above the water yet again just to keep repressing this animation unless I CLIMB my way to the vital spot, hence the heavy metal joke... like I said this is why I love Hydrus, only that)

I just recently found out that you were supposed to climb Phaedra's "tail" because Dormin said something about "Deceive the Colossus and climb on from behind" or something like that.

i'm playing through the remastered 2018 version, never played before...and I lucked into this route but it was surprisingly easy. I got curious about whether Phaedra would climb on top of those hills....then I was like...."oh...there's tunnels in here...what happens if I go in here?" and then as I was about to come back out I saw the braids dangling there and I thought "huh, should I jump on those?"....climbed up....easiest colossi kill so far...

You gave some pretty bad reasoning when it came to why they were good or bad. I'm not going to go into every single colossi on your list, but one that got me was the electric eel. The game explains to you right after you beat he first colossi that Shrines are save points. They're literally some of the only things that are in the waste land besides trees and lizards. If you didn't know that you could save there, then that was completely your fault since the same clearly told you. Also, regarding the electricity. You don't even have to use the light from your sword to see that there are weak spots right in front of each and every horn. They're literally big, green / purple-ish spots that stick out like a sore thumb. The timing is incredibly simple (She comes up from the water every so often, giving you way more than enough time to stab the weak point) and the fight in genuinely one of the easiest (If not, the easiest) in the entire game.
    TL;DR: Git Gud/ Learn 2 Read

    • @masonthomas4810
      @masonthomas4810 6 лет назад +10

      Dannyillo962
Correction: The game doesn't EXACTLY say they are save points. Dormin very SIMPLY and GENERICALLY says "praying at these shrines will heal all wounds". Reading that, almost every player would assume they simply heal you. I knew the were save points because I watched jacksepticeye's playthrough before I had the game, & for a time, HE didn't know they were save points (& SotC is his favorite game, which says something).
Also, he was talking about Hydrus' range of the shockwaves, not her weak spots. It's hard to tell if you're safe or not when she submerges, so falling off & needing to swim over to her when she surfaces again can become tedious.
But I don't entirely disagree. A few of his points made little sense. Phaedra certainly wasn't hard for me. Her attention span was actually pretty narrow for me, the fight not taking long at all, even if I fell. Dirge's fight was certainly a challenge for me, but that's only because I barely used the bow, so my aim sucked. It wasn't poor mechanics.

    • @psilocybemusashi
      @psilocybemusashi 4 года назад +1

that is true but it took me til the 5th colossi to figure out how to actually save. that is only because i saw someone do it in a video on how to beat one of them.

    *Are the colossi innocent?*
Many players feel guilt for killing each colossus but are the colossi themselves innocent? After all, they all embody the imprisoned spirit of *Dormin*, who tricked *Wander* into releasing and reviving him. Dormin is unquestionably the antagonist of the game but Wander is also antagonist-protagonist. Certainly there are some colossi that are more aggressive both visually and in terms of attack than others; *Dirge* and *Celosia* are prime examples, making them appear less innocent but you already kill many colossus before you reach them so they may know your intention or they are territorial. However, others such as *Phalanx* and *Avion* are far from aggressive, and act purely out of defence and self-preservation.
The real issue lies in whether the colossi are entirely possessed and animated by Dormin or whether they are actually separate entities that Dormin happens to have been imprisoned within. The fact that the idols that line the corridor in the *Shrine of Worship* are of the colossi and not of Dormin suggest that, at some time, the colossi existed and were, literally, idolized by the natives that built the shrine and ruins within the *Forbidden Lands*. This may mean that they once existed free of Dormin's presence within them, suggesting that perhaps, at some point in history, they had been genuine living creatures with no association to Dormin.
My theory is that, it could mean that the statues were created long before Dormin and the native of the land use them to worshiper their spirit guardians or gods before they use them to housing the parts of Domin's power. If this were the case, then it may be possible that through Dormins sealed power, the *16 colossi* came into being as living incarnations of the individual idols after having Dormin's power sealed within them.

I think the colossi were there before Dormin as well, and they were the guardians of a once great civilization. Judging from the worn down/spaced out ruins, the area has been abandoned at least several millennia. And the legend surrounded the Forbidden Lands and Dormin. I think Dormin was a corrupt person of royalty/government, who did terrible black magic to ascend to godhood. Perhaps wiping out an entire nation of people, and storing himself in the colossi (almost like horcruxes)

    • @GlitteryGecko
      @GlitteryGecko 8 лет назад +1

+GlitteryGecko *The legends surrounding Dormin's abilities and the Forbidden Land suggest the long period of time the Forbidden Lands have been in that state, as well. Only people like priests or mages that have studied for their entire lives would know more than whispers and rumors about the Forbidden Lands.

    • @GlitteryGecko
      @GlitteryGecko 8 лет назад +1

Like, animating stone, nature, and architecture already bespeaks a great and deep power, the source which may be unknown, but one that can very easily be abused if put into corrupt hands. that's just my opinion, though.

I agree with most of your list, but disagree with most of the points made. Shadow of the Colossus is a puzzle game, and certain Colossi not having their weaknesses immediately obvious was a huge part of the fun for me. I'm also not sure what's goin on with your struggles with Phaedra; all you have to do is get its attention, run into one of the tunnels, and by the time you run out the other side, he'll have investigated the opening and be in prime position to jump on. Wasn't hard for my first playthrough, and has only been easier since then :P
Also, don't you spawn right outside the fights if you die during any of them? I'm pretty sure the point about having to backtrack through the world to get back isn't a thing (but it's also been a long time since I've died in the fights, so I'm not 100% sure)

I hated how he put Argus on the second worse because he's my favorite Colossus. And as you said, the fun in the game is figuring out how to beat the Colossus. Not just blandly climbing him and stabbing him. More so figuring out how to get onto him in the first place so that you can kill him.

ArchTalko you spawn in the nearest shrine. It's useful but a lot of people (including him, probably) ignore the things which is why they get frustrated when they die, because they just ignore Dormin's advice.

Nicolas Roman Segura even if he's not in the perfect position it will get into it eventually, it just takes some time. He first turns back and forth to se if you're not anywhere else, then it stomps on the thing to try to get you out of there, and when that doesn't work, he peeks in to try to see you. You just gotta observe his patterns and BE PATIENT.

Falling off Malus, couple of hours to get back up? Dude, it takes just a few minutes, chill with the exaggeration. You also don't need to use the sword to locate the weakspot, and then shoot Malus weakspot. After I stabbed his back I grabbed his arm, climbed up and stabbed the spot without knowing it beforehand, then grabbed his second hand and jumped to the top and to his head. You make it way harder than it needs to be.

#5 Worst- I really like Dirge like a lot of people, I never had any of the issues you said however I understand your reasons.
    #5 Best- I agree.
#4 Worst- I respect your opinion though I really don't get why you hate him. I understand the part about Celosia and Cenobia being similar but I think it's unfair just to hate a colossus for it's size and position in the game.
#4 Best- Again I agree and I also had the problems with climbing and weakpoints you did.
#3 Worst-By no means my favourite but again I don't get why you hate him. I never struggled with the timing and I don't get what you said about having to go all the way back to it 3 times. I recently played it on PS2 and every time I died to a colossus I just respawned at the start of the battle without using save shrines. Unless you were playing the PS3 version and it's different or Hydrus is the only colossus that does this I don't see your problem.
#3 Best-I love Gaius however I don't think he would make it into my top 5.
#2 Worst-I absolutely hate this colossi. It's one of the only 2 I hate next to Celosia. As well as what you mentioned I first thought the second sigil was on it's back and fell off like a dozen times trying to get to it. And a dozen times I had to climb the area again and again and again. It was the colossus that took me the longest to beat by FAR.
#2 Best-I agree again. Avion is easily one of my favourites if not my favourite overall.
#1 Worst-Not my worst but the worst out of the ones I like as in #14. This fight was actually incredibly short for me(maybe I just got lucky or maybe it's because I grabbed onto it's tail which seems easier) and for me it was probably the least memorable fight in the entire game even bordering boredom.
#1 Best-I liked Phalanx and he would definitely be in my top 5 though I don't think he's the best overall like a lot of people.

9:26 Actually, there IS one other way up to his head: Go up from his ledge-like backside of a tail. It's arguably his most obvious entryway, only inaccessible because Phaedra's pretty much what'd happen if a Colossus, a giraffe and a horse had a three-way.

Alpha Bulblax I agree but for me, Basaran is actually tolerable compared to some others. In my opinion, I think Pelagia is the most annoying cause of how you have to try to constantly swim around to climb on its back and half the time you fail cause that blind bitch has fucking ESP or some shit. I'm positive that one time my game glitched where it always knew where I was or that I couldn't sneak around it no matter how many times I tried or where I was. The game knew I didn't like Pelagia so it decided to dick me over.

Soc is a pretty bad game though when compared to any other decent game ever made. It has only 16 boss fights as the gameplay of the whole game and about half of them are not fun in the slightest, the controls and camera suck most of the time making the lackluster gameplay worse, and there is almost a complete lack of story beside the opening and ending scenes and even then it’s not that remarkable. Portal 2 is far superior to this game.

So I never this on PS2 and I don't have a ps3 for the remaster, so I am forced to play this on an emulator. But I can't help but think you're not the best at the game. Dirge wasn't that much of an issue. Hyrdus wasn't either. Like I can't claim to be amazing at the game, but most of the negatives you state are more complaints of difficulty or lack of hand holding rather than actual negatives. Except for Phaedra. Fuck Phaedra.

  • @mexa_t6534
    @mexa_t6534 6 лет назад +1

The fight with Dirge is so much better now with the remaster because of the much much better graphics and the more stable reticule. And I felt so bad killing Cenobia and Celosia because of how sad and vulnerable they look. Cenobia's reaction to the fire is just sad cuz he's one of the only colossus that shows mannerisms and actual fear when being attacked. Not just pain, but fear. And seeing Celosia smack into a wall without its armor and get knocked out is just sad. As frustrating as he was, the way it looks and behaves so much much more like an animal makes him feel more alive and his death sadder.
Anyway, I don't agree with you on a lot of things BUT I enjoyed seeing your opinion.

I pretty much disliked Celosia because I got stunlocked by that Colossus far too many times. I get rammed into a corner, and get knocked down the second I get up. It's interesting how different views people have. For me Phaedra wasn't hard at all even though I didn't know the solution, it took just a few minutes to defeat. And Agro was challenging, but in just the right way. I've seen some people even complain that Agro is too easy to be the penultimate boss. The worst for me was definitely Basaran, because even after figuring out pretty quickly the way to defeat it, it was frustratingly hard to execute, as it just wouldn't position itself correctly despite lots of trying. For me that is more annoying than properly challenging.

+Syyborg Gaming Holy shit, you're absolutely right. This game is amazing at many things, but teaching you them is not one of them. I bet fighting dirge would have been way more fun if you knew that you could stand up on agro and easily aim backwards!
Though I do have to ask: Why did you have to run back from the shrine of worship after every death? For me, it respawned me at the boss's cutscene. Am I missing something?
I mostly hated that boss because it goes by no logic whatsoever. Hydrus has no reason at all to stay near the surface. He's obviously able to dive underwater whenever he wants and it proves very effective, and yet he dives up and down in all subsequent attempts to shock you (which he does regardless of whether or not he can harm you).

      Buffet’s least favourites:
#2 Celosia - there is just no indication at what you’re supposed to do. You never pick up anything before or after, which is hypocritical, since spider was cut because of that reason. I want spider! Plus, he’s smol, which is fine if he was interesting or intimidating.
#5 Cenobia - Looks to much like Celosia. Love the platform puzzle, but it just goes on too long. You have to do the same thing SIX times; 7 if you count knocking down the floor to break its armour.
#3 Quadratus - It is a tutorial boss, but the thing it is trying to teach you just makes the fight harder. Riding Agro just makes it harder to aim and isn’t even needed at all. Phalanx would have been a better tutorial boss for riding Agro and using your bow since, you HAVE to use Agro to keep up with him.
#4 Barba - Great ideas in this fight and is cinematic. Him chasing you, busting down walls; intense. I also, love how you hide and grab his beard when he looks down. However, everything he does other colossi do better. Dirge is another epic chase and is so much cooler and dynamic. Hiding and making him look for you is basically just Avion. Both require bring the colossi to you, but which is cooler. Hiding and grabbing a beard or watching a giant bird fly at you and grabbing its wing taking the battle to the sky. Doesn’t help that that fight is right before this one. Plus, he has the same appearance as Valus (a previous colossi) and Argus.
#1 Basaran - I loathe his existence. Getting him EXACTLY above a geyser AS it is going off is just so frustrating. Plus, waiting for him to get to a geyser is so slow as he is constantly shooting at you making you move away from the geyser you were at. Meaning he moves to be where you are, which isn’t at a geyser. Also, my first time ever playing as a kid I kept flipping him over but never could figure out what to do afterwards, so he flipped back over again and again. One could say that that is why I have such disdain for him. I also just don’t really like his design that much.
      Buffet’s favourite colossi:
#5 Kuromori - Small done right. He is larger enough to be intimidating, but small enough to be like “WHERE DIS HE GO!” Honestly, he can absolutely sneaky as you can’t always see where he is, but he definitely sees you with wall hacks. Sniping you from places that make you scream because sometimes even than you can’t find him. I love his design too; It is so unique and creepy. It is so satisfying outplaying him and sniping his legs and watching he plummet to the ground.
#4 Avion - You standoff a colossal rock bird as it charges at you. Than you jump on its wing, holding on to dear life as it soars in the sky. All these things have been said before by countless people. Its design is also amazing.
#3 Dirge - A giant snake is chasing you and it is horrifying. Such an intense fight and I love it’s design. Plus, shooting it in the eye was unique as it is the only one you have to do so. I genuinely couldn’t figure that when I was young that when I accidentally did I was so estatic. It is just so fun and satisfying doing it and watching him crash into a wall. Controls aren’t that bad and it gets under my skin people disliking this fight because of over-exaggerated bad controls.
#Argus - Best soundtrack and one of the most beautiful arenas. I am probably one of the only people to instantly figure out how to win by looking around before the fight. Great design, nice puzzle platforming and I love how he come up from a cliff.
#1 Phalanx- Best designed colossus and I will fight you on that. What hasn’t been said why about Phalanx is great. Chasing and shooting him done with Agro, check. Jumping off Agro onto his fin look in the movies, check. Standing atop the largest colossus while it flys in the sky, check. But what I really love about Phalanx is how mysterious he is. He is the only colossus that isn’t land locked to their arena, so why doesn’t leave? The Ico rings theory keeping him there? If so that is kinda sad. Why is he the most harmless colossus? He is really nearsighted and can’t see you on the ground? Why does he have an extra eye on his left side?

So let me get this straight. Phaedra is on your worst list because
    1. You need to jump onto its braids ( you’re actually meant to climb up it’s back )
    2. It only has one weak point( it actually has 2 )
    3. It isn’t obvious what to do (despite the fact that the tunnels are clearly there for a reason and it is stated by Dormin that it is a curious creature)
Good video. But just because Phaedra was specifically difficult to fight for YOU, doesn’t mean it is the worst Colossus in the game.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the 3rd Colossus? He just looks SO derpy. I can't get past those duck lips.
#4 if you just lure him over to a cave and wait a bit, usually after three big BANGS of him stepping around, when he bends down his braids will be right in front of you. That is how I learned to get on top of him. Lure him over, hide in the cave, (you can even use the whistle action used to call Agro to get the Colossi's attention instead of shooting him), jump on the braids and climb up. I never knew you could climb on his stubby tail until I watched someone else play it. I think at this point in the game you should be able to recognize what areas are claimable by their sharper edges/textures and slightly brighter colors.
#15 was one of the best for me to figure out how to get on top of him. There were so many steps to getting on him it was very rewarding and his arena was so big. I still can't believe the PS2 could handle such a game.
If you are playing this game for the first time, do yourself a favor and do NOT look up how to beat any of the Colossus - I promise you it is much more rewarding when you figure it out yourself. I made the mistake of looking up a few of them and it just made the game go by way too quick.

4:40 the only thing more counterintuitive than that was having to stab his hand for him to keep it still long enough to aim and shoot at his shoulder. All previous colossi taught you that stabbing them makes them thrash like crazy, but we're supposed to assume that this one will react completely different and hold still.

I don't see why the solution to a colossus fight not being immediately obvious is a negative, especially considering Shadow is a puzzle game. That was one of the great things about playing it for the first time too: looking up at this hulking beast and thinking how there could be no possible solution to tackling it.
Never had a problem with Phaedra's AI either, and like you I too would jump up the braids. There is no wrong way to do that fight but the braids seem like the most obvious and also awe-inspiring solution. I would lure him to the catacombs and then run around until he'd peer over them and simply jump out of the exit where he would over-hang the braids. Not only is it more obvious, but to me, it's also the easier route!
But then, people find different colossi hard - for me the fifteenth is a lot of work, I disagree that he is unintuitive but I think he shakes far to much to the point where it is just impossible to get a hit in on him without jumping off and trying again. Also, the water bosses are amazing (especially Pelagia, favourite colossi in the game).

Actually, firing arrows at Phedrea is the worst thing to do and a common mistake. Yes, shooting an arrow at him at the start is good, since he’ll move quicker to the hills. But after that you should avoid doing as much as possible, since if he is angry he won’t look down (it has never happened with me, but it did in your footage). You need him to have blue, calm eyes if you want him to look down more consistently.

While I haven't reached Phaedra yet, I've seen this fight, and I completely disagree with the unintuitive argument. You pass by the tunnel system on your way to Phaedra, and it's distinct enough that even a new player can tell they'll be important during the battle. From there, it won't be long before trial and error brings out the solution.

I am extremely excited for PrioVR, as I'm a gamer that wants my gaming experience to by highly athletic, and the top three games I want to see ported to Prio are all your top favorite games. At #3 is Portal 2, because it's my favorite game, and who doesn't want to feel like they're walking around Aperture. At #2 is Undertale, because to spite asking for a VR port being a tall order due to the abstract nature of the boss battles, I have to get up and dance every time I hear any of the boss music. But #1 is easily this. I'm not even a big SotC fan; I don't even own the game. But the REASON I don't own the game is because I took one look at the gameplay and said "I want to have to perform these moves myself, or I don't want to have to perform these moves at all"

  • @KeybladeSoulLord

Ok, allow me to comment about some of your "worst choices".
Dirge - I never had a problem with this boss fight. I just make sure I get in a good position, making sure Agro rides straight and then turn when I feel like the right time and then I aim carefully to the colossus' eye. Maybe it was the PS3 version that made this more manageable, but that's just me.
Cenobia - I'm sorry, but calling Celosia better than Cenobia kinda ticks me off. Here's a big difference. There is a slight difference. And Cenobia is slightly smaller than Celosia, that Celosia being more of a bull and Cenobia being like a lion or a tiger. Second, the fight with Celosia is much harder than Cenobia, because when you try to stab on Celosia, it won't stop shaking. At least the way with how you fight Cenobia is more unique than any of the other fights, because unlike most Colossi, you actually have to use the environment in your favor, by using pillars to make it crash into them and lead it to a spot where you can take it down and the best part is, it doesn't shake as much as Celosia does. Also, I don't see why a Colossus being smaller than its previous ones would actually make it considered a worst one. Size doesn't matter if the fight is interesting.
Hydrus - I actually never had trouble with this fight. You don't really have to swim that much to get Hydrus' attention and when you grab it you'd only have to go about twice to get to the sigil on its head. At least the time-trial mode is forgiving for how long the fight takes with it.
Argus - Alright, I agree. The fight with Argus can take a while to figure out, but I don't consider this fight being worse. In fact, I had more trouble with Barba than I did with Argus. Sure it took me a while to figure out, but I actually am ok with this one.
Phaedra - Ok, you clearly didn't understand how exactly the fight works. First you need to get its attention towards you and then the moment it comes close, you just go to the tunnel and go all the way through instead of exiting to the side exits. Then after it bends down to try to search for you, you just have to climb on its tail, not its head. Sure for speedrunners its useful, but I don't understand how you didn't figure that out so soon.
Overall, I don't blame you for not liking these colossi, but you could've explained a little better.

(Just want you to know that this is gonna be a long comment)
Firstly, I just want to say that this was a great video! Would’ve been cool to see you rank all the colossi within the game including Quadratus, Barba, Kuromori, Basaran, Celosia, and Pelagia but hey I’m not complaining. This is coming from somebody who has done that and if you don’t mind I’d love to take the time to discuss my personal opinions on how you ranked the colossi here in this video.
    Dirge:
To be honest, I actually really disagree with this one. Dirge is my 2nd favorite colossus in the game and I understand that it doesn’t have the best controls but come on…the fight is just too good. The speed at which it chases you, combined with it’s aggressive behavior, on top of hearing it cry out in pain as you carelessly stab the sigils on its back, makes this one of the most epic moments in the entire game. But…at least you did say you liked the concept of it so I’ll give you that.
    Valus:
I agree. Maybe a step back at number #6 for me but I still agree with what you’re saying. It’s definitely not the best colossus (or the most memorable) but for what it’s worth it definitely made for a great introduction to the game.
    Cenobia:
Again, I agree. I actually think it’s a top 3 worst but I still agree with what you said here. It is pretty disappointing seeing something so small this close to the epilogue of the game. Not to mention, how repetitive the fight is too. Pretty annoying! I actually liked Celosia’s fight more too again like you said.
    Malus:
I disagree with this one, not as much as I disagreed with how you ranked Dirge but I still disagree. While Malus isn’t exactly a top 5 worst colossi in the game, it is no way a top 5 best in my eyes. Sure, the buildup is great but the fight itself is (in my opinion) pretty shitty. It’s repetitive, boring, anti-climactic, and quite easy (given that Malus only has one major sigil) to be honest. And while I do like the music, did they seriously have to let it be the only track that plays throughout the whole fight? And why? I get that this is a personal pet peeve of mine, I do but personally this fight was just very disappointing for the epilogue of the game in my opinion.
    Hydrus:
Totally agree! While I don’t hate this colossus as much, it is definitely the worst water-based fight in the game by far. And it’s already bad enough that the swimming is pretty rough around the edges to be honest, but what really hurts this fight more than anything is how long it goes on for. Hydrus just feels like doing whatever the hell it wants to, and I find myself having to repeat the same cycle of having to wait for it to rise out of the water to grab onto its fur, disable its 3 horns via minor sigils, and attack its one and only major sigil at least 2-3 times which I know doesn’t sound like a long time…trust me though, it will feel like it. But hey, at least it’s minor sigils actually do something unlike some other colossus that I know of *cough *cough Phaedra *cough *cough.
    Gaius:
Again, totally agree! Gaius is not only a top 3 colossus but also is one of the most unique colossi we have in the game by far. The scale, magnitude, and pure height of this monster are truly what defines it best and there’s only 2 other colossi that I can think of that can truly outweigh it in every way. Truly deserving of the #3 spot if you ask me!
    Argus:
Forgive me if I sound like an asshole on this one…but not only do I disagree with this ranking, I also feel the complete opposite way about every point you made against this colossus. Firstly, let me just say that Argus (and this will be a very underrated opinion) Argus is actually my favorite colossus in the whole game! The design of this creature (while yes, is the same as Valus and Barba’s) is actually my favorite design out of all the colossi in the entire game. The arena is not only beautiful, but very unique and the fact that you can see the shrine from there only makes the fight even better. The music is one of my favorite OST’s in the game and I love how it has a “hidden” weakpoint visible after stabbing its minor sigil. Sure, it does take a long time due to the difficulty but that’s what I love about the fight. That’s the reason that Phalanx is not my favorite colossus in the game or why Avion is not there either, hell even Dirge would be at number #1 if it wasn’t due to the difficulty! Sure, Argus might have given me the most trouble but the fact that it did so is what I love about it the most. And I damn sure wish that many other people out there felt the same way that I do. And it’s a shame to me how many people often view Argus as the complete opposite. What a shame, man…
    Avion:
Again, I do disagree with this one but not nearly as much as the last one. I would actually say that Avion is the colossus that I have the most mixed feelings towards. I really can’t describe it too well to be honest but let it be known that it’s definitely not the worst colossus in the game oh no, far from it! That being said, in my opinion it sure as hell ain’t the best nor even the 2nd best whatsoever.
    Phaedra:
I totally, 100% agree with this one I really do! No matter what I say or do or how ever many times I play through Shadow of the Colossus, there is no other colossus in the game that defines the true meaning of ‘shit’ than Phaedra does to be 100% honest with you. You know a colossus is bad when even the music placement of all things is just so goddamn unfitting. It also doesn’t help that Phaedra also doesn’t like to cooperate often for whatever stupid dumbass reason possibly imaginable. Phaedra minor sigil is also the only one in the game that I know of which the player doesn’t even have to go after in order to defeat it. So then I have to ask, why the hell is it even there to begin with? Why just why? It’s so dumb and it also doesn’t help that Agro is required for this fight as well. But you know what? All of that could’ve been forgiven, if Phaedra’s fight on top of all of that wasn’t so god damn boring!
    Phalanx:
And finally, I do agree with this one. I’d actually put Phalanx a few ranks below number #1 if I had to but nevertheless, it’s still a great fight. Maybe if the colossus did anything to harm the player then I would’ve said “hell yeah, it deserves to be number #1 on the list!” But even without that, it’s still a very enjoyable part of the game no doubt.
If you read all of this, thank you! I hope that my opinions didn’t hurt or offend you or anyone else in any way and that you understand that it only comes out of a place of the love in my heart (the same way your opinions did) for Shadow of the Colossus.
