Lizards and some birds: "am I a joke to you?"
There's turtles, fish, and butterflies too. And the end game credits shows even more life in the Forbidden Lands!
THE HOLY NUT
@@Lord_Talha dont forget the bats!
There are fish, turtles, birds including hawks and doves, and deer and butterflies in the world. (There is at least one deer at the end of the game in the cutscene with Mono.) I don't know why people say there's no animals in the game just because they're hard to find sometimes.
@@fogskiss3137 Don't forget PAL, the squirrel. Never forget! 😉
Ok, I understand your reasoning for 16 to 10, but putting Malus *that* low on the list. Build-up, music, the rain and the way to his weak spots are all genius. They all play a part for the colossus not just their attack pattern.
I completely agree
Honestly malus is the most underrated collosus, probably my 2nd favourite. I love everything about the fight
I fucking hated malus because I spent like a good 30 minutes trying to figure out what to do once I'm at the second hand and I though it was crap for a final boss fight but I guess my first impressions are really stupid
Malus is a flawed fight, but the emotional and narrative significance truly justify why it feels like a final boss, so it all works out to make it truly memorable.
Malus would be my favourite if it weren’t for how broken his hitboxes were. I spent an hour falling off his second hand because his fire wrist kept unfairly hitting me. The worst part was that you fall all. The way. Down. It should be obvious that if jumping to the first hand should never make me think “okay when I jump to his hand I need to stay away from his wrist because it’s broken and won’t let me move.” You shouldn’t play around the flaws of a game.
Number 1. Ludwig
Nobody expects Ludwig!
Look af Bloodborn
I hate this creature!
Love Kos, Maria and even Laurence. But Ludwig....
As in...the twitch streamer?

Fun fact: There's a theory that the rings around Phalanx's arena is what keeping it from flying out of the forbidden lands. Which would make sense because something dangerous like it would need a way to keep it from just flying off.
But how is it dangerous?
@@coletrainhetrick how is it not dangerous its a huge flying creature muxed in with stone and who knows how fast it can go
@@markalvarado4450 but you do realize it is docile? It is literally not hurting anyone nor ever attempts to. That's no different from saying whales are dangerous
It doesn't even have any attacks lol. But I guess if Phalanx were to be super aggressive, it could technically dive bomb into it's targets causing a lot of damage. I mean, it literally dives into sand like it's nothing. O.o
@@markalvarado4450 it's a non hostile Colossus when you awaken phalanx all it does is fly around and doesn't even want to harm wander
Fun fact: Barba literally means Beard in Italian, Spanish and I'm sure some other languages with Latin Origins.
NotSoSeriousNick Also Avion means plane in spanish
NotSoSeriousNick and phalanx means nut sack in Spanish.
_Barba_ means beard in Latin itself.
yep... portuguese also.
Barba in greek is a phrase we say to an old man lol
Phalanx was probs the only colossus I regretted killing first time playing it.
That was the first point in my first playthrough where I was like "Hey, wait a minute. That one literally didn't do anything aggressive, even after I attacked it..." I'll just blame it on the fact that I was a lot younger back then.
If its name is Phalanx then it deserves to die, whether it be a massive sky serpent or a puddle of black pudding surrounded by spartan shields
WoG that shit man.
Bryan Cameron-Hutchings Phalanx is female, hence the egg sacks
Bryan Cameron-Hutchings team Ico wiki is not always correct, idiot
The moment you bring Phalanx low by puncturing its air bladders so its fin trails in the sand and you make Agro race alongside it while you prepare to leap from your horse's back onto the fin is one of the most thrilling moments in _all of gaming._
Thrilling or annoying depending on your point of view.
I thought it was super boring, Phalanx doesn't even do anything in the fight. he just flies around and waits to be killed.
Yeah, Phalanx was probably my least favorite fight. Its by far the least threatening. I mean its still really cool, but its not really a fight. My favorite was the small bull one where you need to get it to knock down pillars. Took me forever to figure that fight out, and it was really tense since it could kill you really easily by knocking you over repeatedly.
WR, that is the point. It is innocent and just wants to be left alone. it doesn't fight you even when you are trying to kill it.
Yeah, but it still isn't very fun
3. Phalanx - Great fight, put everything you have learned into practice.
2. Valus - Not hard or overly complex, but that feeling on your first playthrough when you see it step out, looking up at this towering beaswt that you gotta kill somehow.
1. Malus - Another for the atmosphere. Agro has just "died", you know this is #16, your final foe before you`r quest is over. You climb up the massive platforms, the whole time, the sound of rain progressively gets louder. You pull yourself onto the arena, and you see this massive figure in the distance, rain pours, one of the best themes (in my opinion) is playing in the background and your suddenly filled with an urge to finish what you came to do. This was my experience, and I still get chills fighting this beast every time. To be fair, I`m a sucker for bosses in the rain. Bloodborne`s Gehrman, would have been better in the rain if you ask me.
BloodEagle13 malus’ thème is incredible :D I like it a lot ! It is so sad and calm
Definitely a great track to top of a sad story with.
Gaius?
@@jamesharden5685 Gaius is a great fight and a really good poster-boy choice for the game, for sure. Really, these three are just the top of my list, there is t really a fight I don't like in SotC.
@@bloodeagle5889 shut up
3:51 hes actually one of my favs
Based
Malus is by far the greatest boss in the game. Because he teels a story. When you reach him, Agro, your only companion and friend, dies. Then, the music starts, and you get treated with Malus. The music is not epic, it's just sad and dramatic, while your a facing your most terrifying ennemy. And yet... he doesn't move. He can't move. When you get to him, the music stay the same. And more than any other colossus, he is powerless while you slay him. And this long climb makes you qestion yourself : Did Agro have to die ? Why am I coming to slay an ennemy that can't even move ? Etc...
He is not enjoyable. But he doesn't have to be. If he was, he would be a less memorable boss fight.
Perfectly said! Malus is a boss fight about the experience, rather than the thrills. Everything from the setting, to the music, to the design of Malus, gives the whole encounter a vibe that's pure genius for a game like Shadow of the Colossus. It makes you think, with no words spoken.
Well said! It's also worthy to note that the closer you get to Malus, the more lasers(?) he shoots at you. It's like he's becoming more and more frightened the closer you get to him.
death-kuja i never really liked malus. He seemed kind of anti-climactic to me. Youve just beaten 15 giant colossi (some more giant then others), and i was kinda expecting this great huge god of war esc thing to come reign terror on me. Then i see a tall human wearing a dress and his feet stuck to the ground. The concept of him is cool indeed, and hes a great colossus. But change the arena placement and he could be just another colossus. I guess i was expecting more of a challenge, thats all. Ik this might seem like im being all like 'oh youre wrong and im right and anyone who doesnt see my way can jump off a cliff!' but im not. Im just sharing my opinion, the one you have is fine, we just dont see the same way :) but i do love myself another SotC fan!
death-kuja I respect your opinion and I do think it's an interesting way to see the fight. But for me I just can't help myself from seeing the battle as just anti-climatic, after all you've fought the last challenge is literally a tower who shoots missiles? Agro died for THIS? Don't get me wrong, I do think that making the players question themselves is good and has everything to do with the game, but I think pulling it off should be more like Phalanx, a foe who does not even tries to hurt you. Not like Malus, a foe who's fight is so surprisingly boring it makes you question if it's even worth it playing the game this far. But that's just my opinion and I do think yours is interesting as well.
Agro lived bud
Every colossus told a different story and was a new experience which makes them all great in my opinion
Back when the game first came out and before I had many friends, I remember desperately wanting to share my feelings about the battle with Phalanx. It was so intense and special to me and very few boss fights have made me feel the same way. Being able to see that someone else feels the same way makes me feel amazing. It's nice to feel validated by such an incredible gamer and streamer, and thank you for the great video.
Thanks for sharing your feelings with me as well! Phalanx and the game as a whole truly are special. When I was a kid I busted out my VHS recorder and taped myself playing the game because I wanted to relive my fights. I loved it so much and still do
theDeModcracy That's incredible! It sounds like you started very early. I'm really glad we have such fun streamers like you to help give words to the feelings we've been unable to express. Not to get fake deep or anything but you were able to succinctly ascertain why particular Colossi were good or just average and it is rather cathartic.
Actually, fall damage was GARGANTUAN in the original. I wonder why they changed that...
Oh come on it was irrelevant
For first time players, it certainly isn't irrelevant. Falling to your death teaches you stamina conservation
Nothing was changed. Fall damage works the same way it did back then. I don't know what led you to come to this conclusion.
@@Jaikhay231 wait it’s not different? Thought you take way less damage in newer versions
@@BIGD-cc7ru In the newer versions (PS3 at least) they made Wonder extremely clumsy. Sometimes it's very annoying. On many of the colossi, you just need to find the sweet spot, the magic pixel, where you can continue stabbing or you will get just one stab and it's all over. Wonder just can't find grip anymore. Coming from the PS2 version, it's super annoying.
*Complains about reskins, doens't mention how Barba and Valus used to be the same boss in early development*
Acituanbus:GLaDOS eddition Well yeah, early development, y’know, the unfinished version of the game unreleased to the public.

I’d have to go with this:
16. Celosia
15. Argus
14. Phaedra
13. Pegalia
12. Hydrus
11. Cenobia
10. Quadratus
9. Dirge
8. Valus
7. Gaias
6. Basaran
5. Avion
4. Malus
3. Kurumori
2. Phalanx
1. Barbas
I think barbas is my no.1 not because of the actual colossus, but because of how the fight plays out: being chased with no true escape in sight. Gets my heart pumping every time.
i really loved barbas as well. one of my favorites so far but I am only on no 8. so far i sort of like all of them. the game mechanics can be annoying but that is true of almost any game.
If i was your i should place kuramoni in no.1 because its gots my favorite musics in its batle but thanks for placing kuramoni in a good number!!!!!!!
Update from after getting the platinum trophy
16. Dirge
15. Argus
14. Celosia
13. Phaedra
12. Pelagia
11. Hydrus
10. Gaias
9. Malus
8. Valus
7. Basaran
6. Cenobia
5. Quadratus
4. Phalanx
3. Avion
2. Kuromori
1. Barba
It came to the point where during every playthrough I’d be dreading to get to dirge so he gets to go to the back of the list.
President Obama Why ? Is it cuz of the controls or something else ? I’m eager to know cuz I loved Dirge.
Tokxinz 010 because he’s a scary basterd. He’s not hard but he makes you panic which causes a lot of annoyance during speedruns . Very well designed for that reason but it has made me dread him as a result.
These rankings you make are just so entertaining and interesting to hear your opinion about :D
I hope you can make these ranking in the future:

- Cuphead bosses
- Nioh bosses
- Monster Hunter World monsters

He did your idea lol
Avion is my favorite. I felt like, especially in the remaster, he was one of the quickest moving and best looking colossi. But Phalanx is probably second. Great game, though. Makes it hard to choose.
Avion is for sure my favorite colossus.
It's not only an amazing and fun battle, but Avion is just a beautiful colossus.
Disagree with some of this ranking order, but your reasoning is very good nevertheless. For example Hydrus is one of my favs but you rank him near bottom.
To tell you the truth i do also find weird that Hydrus starts swimming above the water when you finally get a grab onto it, it feels like a plot hole due to Hydrus ability to dive for long periods of time, it isn't justified.
For example: Argus has this sword (knife?) which you can make him throw by stabbing him while you make Hydrus rise by... grabbing... onto him... there's also Gaius that if you're not experienced enough, you have to make him hit that center for his armor to break...
(Also something weirder is that you can't drown after wasting all your stamina under water, unless they changed that it the PS4 version, but i doubt it.)
Yorcont still cant drown
kuromoris my favorite, has a cool setting and i love the way he attacks and searches for you
I too but i love it because of its batles haves my favorite music
I personally kinda liked hydrus, maybe it's just his look, but i liked him
Controversial opinion: I absolutely love Basuran. Getting it on the Geysers was challenging but never unmanageable, shooting the pads whilst riding past to see it topple felt epic, running up it's back somehow even more so. I've enjoy it so much I've refought it multiple times to the point I have beating it down to a science. I know many people can't stand it, but it's one of my favourite fights period.
Honestly same, sure he's slow but sprinting around on Agro while dodging the blasts while he swaggers up to you with a look of *pure violence* is epic
I think Dirge will always be my favorite, mostly because its high aggression makes for such a hectic fight in comparison to most other Colossi. I'm also a music guy, and Dirge is one of the only bosses to get their own song, and it's a great one.
Thank you for uploading an actual video and not a stream! You're one of my favorites and I've watched/listened to most of your stuff multiple times!
7:05 you put "Malus" when you meant Valus, just FYI
Mark Deska finally someone commented this as well
Ikr! Im not the only one
Mark Deska oh thank you that one had me confused
@@connorvarley1996 He also later called Celosia as Celestia lol
and Pelagia as Pelegia
Am I the only one that loves Cenobia? Maybe it's just the nostalgia, but I remember jumping from pillar to pillar being so epic. Definitely one of my favorites.
I also enjoyed that. It was pretty fun.
Love it
My personal ranking would be something like this:
1. Avion
2. Argus
3. Kuromori
4. Phalanx
5. Gaius
6. Malus
7. Basaran
8. Dirge
9. Phaedra
10. Barba
11. Pelagia
12. Quadratus
13. Hydrus
14. Cenobia
15. Valus
16. Celosia
Gerrit DeMan Hi !My top 16 is:
16-Phaedra
15-Basaran
14-Hydrus
13-Cenobia
12-Celosia
11-Pelagia
10-Kuromori
9-Malus
8-Quadratus
7-Barba
6-Valus
5-Dirge
4-Phalanx
3-Gaius
2-Avion
1-And my favorite is Argus
I still fell like cenobia is underrated as a boss
My top three is 1.Gaius 2. Phalanx 3.avion
I would say that my favourite is Malus, Why? Because i think it sets the atmosphere of you being the threat, and Malus, being the prey, on the battle he only snipes you when you are at the bottom, but when you reach him, he cant do anything else, he's stuck, locked, he cant move or do anything else to stop you, and ironically, he's the most humanly shaped Colossi, by killing him, it shows how you lose the bit of humanity you had left.
And the theme, god, the theme is awesome.
valus is so low? that doesn't make sense. i will never forget that cut scene. it is incredible. the fight itself may not be so great but seeing that beast for the first time is legendary.
If Nomad Colossus's unused Collosi video is an indicator (video from 2015) Cenobia seems to be the last colossus added to the game in the place of the unused Worm colossus as at least in the PS2 version the textures for the Worm idol are in the game and in the preview version what Dormin says when introducing Dirge is slightly different;
''Thy next foe is ... an isolated sand dune ... it's tracks are well hidden ... along with it's friend it shakes the earth."
My guess is that they couldn't finish the Worm colossus in time due to the problems and scrapped it late, but due to the timeframe they needed one last colossus so they copied one of the smaller fights to fill the void that the Worm colossus was going to fill, it gets the job done. Also it seems that the Worm colossus was going to be located in quadrant B2 with the evidence out there. Though from what little we know about it I'm not sure how you were to kill the thing.
Also the unused Phoenix colossus was apparently going to be fought where Basaran is fought in the actual game, the remains of the lake that you plunged it into to put out the flames was there in the preview version as well.
Apparently you don't need to have Gaius smash the platform to progess, in a kill that took just over a minute on the PS2 version the person used the momentum of the upward swing of the sword to launch themselves onto Gaius's head.
You should do a ranking from worst to best bosses from salt and sanctuary, man that game deserve more consideration
IKR! I can give you mine, there's 23 bosses (4 optionals), Obviously, SPOILER WARNING:
#23: Tree of Men. While the concept itself is ok, the execution is just awful. Way too many ways you can get thrown off the platform to the point it just feels unfair.
#22: That Stench Most Foul: While the boss itself isn't that bad, it's just WAY TOO EASY... had this been one of the earlier bosses it would've been higher on the list.
#21: The untouched Inquisitor: This boss just doesn't have enough moves to keep you interested. It has what, 3 attacks? They do hit like a truck, though.
#20: The unspeakable deep: Suffers the same problem as inquisitor, but is much more tense due to you being heavily underlevelled for the experience, making it slightly more fun imo.
#19: The mad alchemist: I think this boss is ruined by the fact that those slimes are either no problem at all, or basically unkillable depending on what weapon you're using. Good luck fighting this guy with dex weapons, you'll get your ass handed to you by the slimes EVERY TIME.
#18: The Bloodless Prince: Now we're getting to bosses that I like: Bloodless prince is a fun fight. The main problem with it is the camera, the prince is just too big to properly see what he's doing. Other than that, this boss has a fun moveset that keeps you on your toes, and a great atmosphere.
#17: Witch of the Lake: This boss was a little on the easy side for me, but walking into her for the first time got me mad excited due to the background, and her moveset is pretty fun to fight against.
#16: Carsejaw the Cruel: This Gravelord Nito wannabe has everything that was great about Nito, and a lot less of what was bad about him. Fairly good boss! Points deducted for being sucha blatant copy, though!
#15: The False Jester: This boss is great because it keeps the pressure up. He is very aggressive and just does not let up in his attacks, requiring precise timing to get hits in!
#14: The Forgotten King: This 3-in-1 bossfight is hella fun! It's not too difficult, and their individual movesets are lackluster, but combined they make for a fun trio to fight.
#13: Disemboweled Husk: This guy is fun because figuring out how to dodge his shotgun projectiles is what makes or breaks the fight. Once you learn that, it's a fair but challenging fight, but before that the guy just shreds you!
#12: Kraekan Cyclops: This first large monster fight in the game teaches you to use s instead of position to dodge attacks. Up until now you can use smart positions to stay out of harms way, but this guy just smacks the entire arena senseless, so you better get used to rolling!
#11: Dried King: A decently fun mage fight. The way the spotlights indicate harmful areas to stand in fits perfectly with a platformer Souls-like! That being said, the randomness of those things can be a little annoying, and his other moves are slightly lacking.
#10: Kraekan Wyrm: This fight would've been top 5 if he didn't have that stupid fly away move. Other than that, I'm a sucker for dragons, and this guy deserves to be in the top half of the game!
#9: The Unskinned: a Great duoboss. The caster keeps you on your toes while the brawler keeps the pressure up. Good mix!
#8 Ronin Cran: This is just an upgraded version of the unskinned, minus the caster subboss. He's agressive, he's fast, he hits like a truck!
#7 Kraekan Dragon Skourzh: This guy has you screaming "HOW DID I DODGE THAT WRONG" until you get all of his moves. It's like disemboweled husk's pistol, but ALL OF HIS MOVES are like that!
#6: Murdiella Mal: The fact that I had no idea this boss existed before my 3rd playthrough makes me sad. Fun moves, great atmosphere, lots of mystery!
#5: The Coveted: I love this boss because it's one of those rare times where you're not even attacking the enemies, here you're attacking their most "coveted" possession! Interesting concept and the fact that the ghosts switch up roles every now and then makes for a great twist!
#4 The Queen of Smiles: This woman's howling screeches agonize me every time I hear them. The boss isn't that hard, but it's a great step up in difficulty from the Sodden Knight to the point where it's just that perfect difficulty for a second boss!
#3: The Third Lamb: This guy is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's just such a fun fight to me, I think mainly because of the way his difficulty scales with his health percentage. This boss is an animal, and when you're doing good against him, he starts to fight like a cornered and frightened animal! I love every second of it!
#2: The Sodden Knight: You may disagree with me here, but the sodden knight feels like what the Asylum Demon in dark souls should've felt like. A hard boss if you're unfamiliar with the controls/style of gameplay, but only a hurdle when you know what you're doing. It's just the perfect first boss. And that soundtrack definitely earns him a lot of bonus points!
#1 Nameless god: While not the most interesting boss mechanics wise, he's just perfect for what he's intended. This God is the most agressive enemy in the entire game, because that's just what the lore wants him to be, a ragefilled consumer of kingdoms! Oh, and that atmosphere! his howls echoed in my mind for months after first defeating him! It's just such a perfect conclusion to such a darkly themed title!
Thank you for yet another amazing video
*still waiting for Cuphead ranking*

Avion was my favourite. Untill him, i was not finding this game much interesting but after this fight my viewpoint changed. The waterfilled arena, the fighting in the air, everything was excellent.
I've gotta be honest, I didn't really like the game. Presentation and story are fantastic, but the gameplay was the most frustrating I've played in a looong time. I can understand why it is such a special game for others though.
Dirge is amazing I never have problems with him

Phalanx was my favorite by far but i liked that orange water boi
I never realized that Celosia was a problem. If you move the left analog stick around Wander recovers a lot faster, and you have time to roll out of the way of the next attack. Though I guess the game doesn't point that out, I just thought it made sense to try it at the time
the problem for me has always been the idiotic shaking he does when you get on top of him.
Justin S Yeah you can't do much if you're not on a sweet spot
Celosia is easy because you only need to make it fall out of the tlempe
I can't rank the bosses of this game. I've always tried to but its so hard. The reason is because I love every single one. There's none of them that I hate. I love this game so much and I have completed and earned the platinum trophy for it. Shadow of the Colossus is truly a PlayStation masterpiece.
Even Phaedra?
nice response. i tend to agree. each boss is special so far in its own way. i am only half way through but i loved barbas. i did find the electric eel a bit annoying because of the swimming and how simple and silly it is to get on it but i do like the scenery the intro and the cutscens a lot on that one so it is still quite good overall.
@@gannielukks1811 phaedra is annoying to beat but that one made me feel so sad to kill i think it really does do a lot to provide that emotional feeling of am i really doing something wrong here? it seems like killing bambi almost.
Been looking forward to this one.
I personally hated Pelagia, he kept walking in the wrong direction, took me really long compared to other colossi. Didn't figure out that you could hit his teeth though, so that may have influenced the experience lol.
And I thought Hydrus was really cool actually. There's something scary about open water (in real life), the idea that something big could be underneath you, that you can't see. I thought that feeling translated well to this boss fight, which made it exciting for me.
Phalanx was by far my favorite was well, such a majestic creature.
I've completed the first 5 collosi but my favorite so far is definitely Avion
One of my favourite things about shadow of the colossus is the differing opinions on colossi. I love basaran, hydrus and malus. I despise phaedra. Yet for everyone its different
Hydra in my opinion is more interesting then Phalanx. I love Phalanx, but once you actually get on him, he's not as fun, because it's very simple once on him. While Hydra weaves in and out of the water while you have to disable his barbs. And his point about his Hydra never learns it's mistake by resurfacing could be used on most of the Colossus in the game, including Phalanx.
Lejend Dairy true i love hydrus too
I just played this game so seeing this list surprised me after used to seeing your Soulsbornekiro videos
Guessing you come from the PS+ sale too?
I absolutely love Hydrus, it’s my favourite colossus. Just coes it’s a water colossus, so it’s amazing
"fish"
"can breathe"
Uhm?
They can breathe underwater you uneducated bitch
Fish breathe through gills
In what grade do we start learning about fish, or just know about fish?
Cause I bet it’s low.
I think Malus is awesome. I remember back to when I was but a wee lad, playing this for the first time. After seeing Agro fall from the bridge, all I wanted was to tear through whatever awaited me. Judging him purely from a gameplay perspective, I think you're right about him, he's hardly the most interesting fight. But I think that fight is trying to be a narrative moment rather than a gameplay one. Good work as usual, my dude!
Ethan Dupras I hated him SO MUCH
Dirge was my favorite. I had no issue with the controls during that fight and it was the only battle where I actually died because I wasn't aware to use Agro. But as soon as I died I got the idea to use Agro and it was smooth sailing from there.
I really like Hydrus, and he is my brother’s favorite. It’s a bit of a pain to get on him the first time, but I think that it it one of the most exciting parts of the game once you are on him. One of the most underrated bosses of the game
1:04 "Just had mac n cheese for the first time bois"
What!? Bassaron is awesome! The way he shoots beams at you as you ride across the plain on your horse is badass as hell, and though it takes him a long time to get to the geysers, it's such a cool and creative way to knock him down to the ground. From then on, the fight is just great. He's my 6th favourite colossus. Your only complaint was that he was slow.
Ikr bassaron is one the best next to Gaius
It's Basaran bro
Nothing special about him and when he shakes and you're on his shell is just annoying.
his battle just feels too repetitive
indeed when seeing it for the first time it can be cool and intimidating but its slowness makes u have to run in circles around a geyser for way too long to the point the fight already feels repetitive on the first time
and then watching it get to the geyser but not at the right spot which doesn't takes it down makes it even more annoying as u know u gotta go through the whole run around thing just to get it back to the geyser
Climbing basaran is nice till it gotta stand up where u gotta stay near a spike and hope that u grab it instead of physics saying screw it and yeets u away
Trying to speedrun it can be quite buggy (at least for me) after tries to get to his leg his animations just bug and he enters an infinite loop or starts having more animations problems making player unable to stab unless they do it the normal way which is far slower and boring
watching how basaran is slow throughout most of the battle but suddenly gets faster when he's at the geyser annoys me alot
ofc this is mostly about basaran being slow but that's like the main factor of why hes battle boring and repetitive
It sucks
Well its about time deMod!!! Just kidding man good vid, loved this game when I was a kid and lived the remaster even more
I really enjoyed the game. The remaster was my first experience with it and everything about it: the music, the graphics and sheer thrill I got from climbing and slaying the colossi.
And then that ending caught me completely by surprise. My body wasn't ready
You should seriously do a video on the Monsters in Monster Hunter World. I'd personally place Legiana, Nergigante and Rathian in my top spots.
Astral Nightmare He should totally do the Easiest to Hardest scaling, its always interesting to hear his opinion on the difficulty of a game
(Imma put flesh doggo on top, my favorite fight in the game)
RND Games In terms of easiest, Jagras is a no brainer along with probably Tzitzi and Girros. Hardest for me personally (I haven't fought them all) is Bazel, Teosta and Pink Rathian.
I think Pelegia is hands down the worst boss in the game. Swimming round to get on it's back is a laborious process and it takes far to long to let you advance, at least the arena is beautiful. On the other I actually liked Basaran alot, yes it's quite slow but I thought it was pretty exhilarating encircling it while it's firing missiles at you.
But I agree with Phalanx being no 1,that fight is amazing.
evilduck1000 you’re supposed to climb on its back? I just grabbed onto his head and climbed up
@@kuwakaney2443 To be frank that's how I do it now too after seeing a couple of time attack vids... But yeah, my first playthrough I swam round back to grab him. Thought the fight was designed like shit because of it, but now it's one of my favourite colossi to beat.
The use of the horse with the colossus was nothing but genius easily that winged colossus was also my favorite. Provided enough challenge and was very rewarding and visually stunning.
Hydrus, Avion and Phalanx are my favorites. They were the ones that have stuck in my mind since I was little and played the game for the first time. I was eight when the original PS2 version came out. :D
Dirge is probably my favorite by far. He's the most skill-based fight out of them all, and the best part is how it's an actual fight. The closest comparison I can make is Puppet Ganon's snake form from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
Literally the only battle I died on because I just stood in the sand like an idiot without thinking of Agro lol. He killed me so fast. But I realised after that and had the most fun taking him down.
Am I the only one that hated Phalanx?
The camera wen't wonky when going close to the flaps stuck in the sand and I had no depth perception because of it
Which resultet in missed jumps
A lot of them
Loved the design and all but hated the fight
Same. For me it was the controls (which I think is still a major problem with this game) I would get so angry that Agro would randomly freak out that I wasn't really focusing on the battle
You aren't alone, I found it to be one of the most annoying fights to deal with. The fact that the fight is one of the few in the game that manually forces you to re-scale it from square one didn't help.
In Cenobias defense, it was the last colossi added after the other eight scrapped colossi were removed and team ICO were short on time in relation to release.
In my opinion though, I do appreciate Cenobia, it's the smallest colossus in the game and in my opinion one of the most fun to fight.
Demod, thank you for being the greatest guy! And i have a request.... can you do a boss ranking in some zelda games, such as wind waker and twilight princess!
Nice of you to say Cam! I may do Zelda games sometime in the future. God of War is next on the list for now
Np dude
Purpose: Ranking.
This guy: Im sCArEd Of FIsH
He was giving his opinion on the bosses and his fear of fish played into his reasoning for disliking that specific boss. I don't get what the problem is?
If you get stunlocked by Celosia it's because you don't understand the timing that comes with fighting it. After you knock the torch to the ground, you're supposed to stay on the platform till Celosia charges into it again. He gets stunned for a moment when he hits his head. This is when you jump off, grab the torch, and climb another platform to light it.
I love the spectacle of Phalanx! I drew him in my year 10 art class not very well i might add but passableish.
OMG OMG OMG DEMOD!!!!
Also, please do a "ranking theDeModcracy's ranking videos" video.
Argus is definitely one of the worst for me just because how dumb the hand is. Its hard to access and just makes the fight a lot longer than it needs to be. It also screws you over on time attack
I do hate Argus, but Gaius was the worst for me in Hard Time Attack, apparently they changed physics from PS2 to PS3 version so Gaius's belly was the most unstable in PS3 so you can't stab him as *deep* as you want. I'm not sure if they changed that on PS4, but at least i couldn't get my White Agro untill i was able to defeat Gaius in Hard Time Attack.
kira kazie surprisingly for me, in hard time attack, the spot on his chest was much harder to hit than the one in the hand, because of the stamina management, it takes a lot of time to get out of there through climbing back to his shoulders and he just keeps doing that dumb chest shaking where you can't do anything but pray that you have enough stamina for making it back to his shoulder. The hand for me was more like an extra reason for me to worry about time, since it's not really that hard to pull it off, at least for me, you can even rest on his fingers for stamina when he stops moving he arm
Why do you refer to a single colossus as a "colossi?"
Holy shit a boss rankings from demod!
What makes phalanx so special to me is that he is the only coloss in the game who never physically attacks you
Pelagia was always my favourite
Aaron Brady same he/she is so cool
Aaron Brady pelagia was a BIOTCH for me in time attack though. They were the last one i beat.
Ludwig is my fav colossi hands down
The sand worm collosi was by far the most memorable fight i had. I still remember fighting him on the PS2 and then PS3.
For me recently beating the game finally after never playing it in its prime & already beating it twice, to me... Avion is my favorite.
I just love the arena, music & everything that’s put in place. Even the start of the fight swimming under water & watching it perched on the column while the music plays differently since you’re under, to having the ride of your life flying with it while everything picks up... so fucking good.
Really happy I’m able to appreciate alot of what this game does & why people loved it for so many years. (Honorable mention, Malus the Sorcerer definitely is right under for what builds the fight up along with another fantastic piece of music & just the size/awe of the colossus.)
Well my least favorite Colloss is Phaedra. This stupid Pony is super boring, sometimes just stands in the middle of the Arena doing absolutly nothing,.... Just a complete Snozze-fest.
My favorite Colloss is Avion. I just love it to take a ride through the air, while trying to get to the end of his wings.
Bout time you upload something that isn’t a stream
Weird recommendation but still thanks for reminding me this awesome game. It took me hours just to find some of these colossi back on Ps2.
This man is crazy with his rankings.
Favorite: Avion
Least Favorite: Malus
Colossus: singular
Colossi: plural
Finally got a new ranking vid to watch woohoo
Phalanx is my favorite out of all of these. It's fun and looks awesome.
Basaran, esthetic wise looks great but he was frustrating I spent about an hour trying to defeat him.
Look at this noob who beats Gaius by using the platform in the middle instead of using the sword to fling yourself above his head and getting the drop stab.
Even though this game is beautiful and great. I never played it. And to be honest. I don't want to. Because I don't want to kill these colossi.
I don't mean to sound rude, but that's kind of a silly reason.
Celosia is my favorite boss I love that boss so much mostly because of how unique he is
Just played this a few months ago and was wondering why I didn't play this so long ago. Can't wait to play the remastered
Yeah my fear is also the fear of when I'm in water where fish can see me and I also hate it when touch water grass
I think the most interesting part about Phalanx is the lack of fighting back it is capable of, it quite literally has no defenses, it is a puzzle, but i can't argue with how beautiful the fight is, as well as how awesome the collosi is, a good choice in my mind.
phaedra was probably my only big complaint. I had the same problem, been battling him like an hour, trying to figure out how to get up to him, how to use the tunnels, and how the heck to get him to stall at said tunnels long enough for me to get on his freaking back. Once I did though I did get a bit "aww-y" cause i thought it was rather funny and cute seeing the big horsie stick his head down trying to find you like " Hello? Hellooooooooooooo~" XP
I agree with most of your list, Demod. The only one that’s really out of place for me is Dirge. Maybe it’s that I’ve only played the PS3 version, but I rarely seem to get the timing AND positioning right - usually resulting in me moving faster than Dirge, or having him behind me without his eyes opening. It’s always a frustrating and time consuming fight for me.
Anyway, enough ranting from me. Great video, Demod. Keep up the good work.
When i fight Demod i select the bow and tend to ride with Agro around the stage utill i can confirm Demod is following me with its glowing eyes by pressing L1, then i redirect Agro so it takes a diameter like rute (and completely stop using the movement stick afterwards), after that i press L1 again while pulling out the bow, finally i release L1 and adjust the scope to Demod's Eye.
Another thing is that you can pull out the bow and make Agro go faster at the same time, you just need to keep one button pressed and press the other repeatedly, but in this fight if you do something similar to what i described i don't think you need to push the speed button.
honestly I liked Cenobia a lot more than a few of them, mostly cus I'd just recently done Celosia and Pelegia (who I didn't figure out the teeth thing until right at the end of the fight so it was a fairly boring slog waiting for him to get close to some high ground) so having this sort of chase through an ancient city, jumping from platform to platform felt a lot more exciting to me than the fights just before it
This video made me wanna play this game again
Every boss with the music liberated guadian is my favorite
Soulsborne: We have the best boss.
Shadow of the Colossus: *Laughs in Phalanx*
