Why are X and O marks not 180 degrees on the opposite sides from each other? I know the Brinsea manual says turn them 90-120 degrees, but most expert recommend the eggs to be turned 180 degrees (to be on the opposite end). Can you please explain?
Hello Ainstain. Which manual are you referring to? You will find lots of experts with varying opinions on egg turning. In the video it explains that you should avoid turning the eggs the same way each time, i.e. not always turning clockwise. Having the X and O marked as in the video, and alternating between them means that you know that you are turning clockwise for one turn then anticlockwise for the second turn - if the marks were directly opposite you could forget which way you have turned the eggs. You can find out more in our free download: The Incubation Handbook: brinsea.co.uk/latest/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Brinsea_Incubation_Handbook_2016.pdf - there is lots of information in there about egg turning. Kind regards, Brinsea.

Hello. Do you have your instructions? if so, read page 5 which explains how to manage your humidity. If you don't have your instructions, download them free from our website www.brinsea.co.uk As a general guide for poultry/game/waterfowl maintain water in one of the two water pots from the time eggs are set until 2 days before hatching is due - the depth of water doesn’t matter. If the incubator is full of parrot (and parrot like species) eggs the incubator may be run without water for some of the early incubation period. Regarding the turning angle, we recommend 45-90 degrees. Please contact us if you have any more queries. Sales@brinsea.co.uk.
