Hello Caroline, we no longer manufacture this model. We have upgraded our machines and you will now need to look at purchasing the new Mini II Eco incubator. brinsea.co.uk/bird-breeding-products/mini-ii-incubators/mini-ii-eco-incubator/ You can also buy a turning kit to turn it into a semi-automatic machine, which makes turning the eggs very quick and simple, and you don't have to take the lid off. You can purchase one here: www.strangfordincubators.com/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=kit&product_id=1176

I have the mini advance model and I am currently on day 18, a day early according to your recommended lockdown time but I've already took out the turning disk, put a suitable surface in the incubator, turned off turning and topped up both spaces for the water but my question is how often should I refill the water now? I know you stated not less than every 6 hours but I have been told not to open it full stop.

You should leave it for at least for six hour intervals before opening it. It's the water surface area that is the most important thing, not the amount of water. Obviously if there is no water it needs topping up. Please give us a call on 0345 226 0120 (local call rate) if you want us to talk you through it all. Kind regards, Brinsea.

Now I have a question. What if one or two eggs hatched on 1st day and after two days i want to take them out of the box but at the same time third egg has been hatched on the third day. So if I take the two chicks out which were hatched two days ago will this effect on the third one which has just hatched fresh? After taking them out of the box do I still need to keep them under right light shelter?

Hello. By 'box' - do you mean 'incubator'? You should really leave the newly hatched chicks in the incubator for 24 hours, they will be fine in there. After this time you can take them out of the incubator and put them under a brooder - such as the Brinsea EcoGlow 20 to keep them warm - which is better for the chicks than a heat lamp. If you remove the first two it will not harm the third one, just don't leave the lid of the incubator off for any length of time - just enough to remove the two fluffed up chicks. This 7 eggs incubator is bigger than mine. The one I have you can not lay eggs the way you showed us. Mine you have to make them stand up. Would you see my complains?
