    I absolutely love how there is that shot where you are looking at the mock up wraparound options and you can literally feel the gears turning in your head and then it hard cuts to you cutting off that corner of the bumper

      She was a little rough around the edges but a great base to start with for sure!

    Nice work. I'm hoping to get my TJ body worked and primed in the next weekend or so. I may have to bring my bumpers around a bit like that.....

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  5 лет назад

      Nice. Would have preferred full corner guards instead, but since they weren't in the budget we're just going to run with these bumper extensions for now.

      @@dironaa I like the idea. It's always fun melting metal. Keep up the good work.

    Heavy duty tire carrier bumper is turning out nice but your adding allot of weight for that little 4 banger to haul around.

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  5 лет назад +2

      Agreed, every bit of additional weight adds up. Hopefully we'll upgrade everything to aluminum eventually. On the plus side this Jeep has a factory rear seat delete and radio delete so we're saving a bunch of weight there! LOL

    You’ve got less than three grand in that Jeep and I’ve got about two grand in wheels and tires alone. 😂
    Whoops 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

      Hahaha to be fair if I wasn't on a "budget" I probably would have dropped close to that on a set of 35" Goodyear MTR's with wheels, but since we are on a budget we'll be running the 33" Craigslist A/T's. The deals you can sometimes find on used parts are hard to beat!

      Dirona You’re absolutely correct. All my friends went to Jeep beach this year and I couldn’t make it. One of them won a bunch of stuff and sold it really cheap. I got a few accessories for my Jeep, really cheap! Just some quick release mirrors and wheel nuts

    I have a '05 TJ .. I would have liked to have seen the old bumper removal .. I'm having a hard time getting mine removed .. there is a hidden hitch I also have to remove first just to get to the bumper bolts .. wanting to do the same on my '74 CJ 5 with a bumper / tire carrier

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  4 года назад

      There should be two bolts under the bumper, one goes into the bottom of each frame rail. And two nuts on the outboard side of each rear frame rail (so a total of 6 fasteners holding the bumper to the Jeep). The nuts can be a pain to get a wrench on, and you might have to remove the bolts from the rear body mounts depending on what type of angle you need to get a wrench in. Now that you have chopped those off-sets off the bumper to mount it directly on the frame, are you sure you are going to have enough room for the tire carrier hinge point and the back side of the tire carrier against the back side of the tailgate? I am concerned about clearance....

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  5 лет назад

      Good thought! That was one of the first things I checked after chopping them off, and all fits well...we should have plenty of room for tire carrier swing out operation.

  • @andrewcarr899

    I would drill and tap another 4 holes for added stregnth. Are you getting frame time in brackets? Look at the a to z fabrication bumper. It mounts very similar to yours, and the reason I have it over any other brands that offset the bumper further. Lastly while you do the tire carrier swing arm add in a stop so it can't swing too far and dent the body.

      Yes sir, frame tie ins will be in the next episode. Just looked at the A to Z bumper...very similar indeed, I like the design of it. Planning to add two more bolts through the rear crossmember into the bumper, but since the gas tank needs to come down for that I'm going to wait until the gas tank skid is upgraded to drill and tap those. Thanks for the input!

      @@dironaa I installed mine without removing the gas tank. It would definately be easier but not necessary. I have a 1.25 inch body lift and tucked up gas tank so I should have less room than you. Love the work so far, better than larger chanels that don't do any work themselves. At the end of the built you should post an open wheeling weekend you will be at (AOAA?).

    • @dironaa
      @dironaa  5 лет назад +1

      Good to know, I'll check it out. Thanks, I guess the plus side to not doing things yourself is they tend to move along a lot faster. That's an idea...AOAA could be a decent somewhat central location for the east coast. We'll see how things are looking toward the end of summer and may try for something like that depending on interest.
