Just literally swap engines, put the vettes engine in the humvee and the humvee's engine in the corvette but fix it first :D that would be awsome, imagine that turbo v8 diesel in that small corvette XD
TAA 10 on a 5.56 case? That's Taiwanese. So it's entirely likely that your newly LS swapped Humvee was used by the USMC and at some point in it's life spent time on Taiwan during a joint USMC/Taiwan armed forces military exercise. Military vehicle wiring is all black because the military does complete replacements. They don't repair a wiring harness in a vehicle, they replace the entire harness, then it's sent to an equipment depot for repair and reissue. I've personally seen this with a vehicle communications harness. We had lost crew communication, and since that's an operation deadline, we drove to the commo section, pulled the old harness out, and hung a completely new communications wiring harness. That was a fun day.
I wonder what the torque curve is like compared to the diesel. If you're wanting to rack crawl with it you may want a supercharger instead of turbo for low rev torque
it's crazy how much the dynamic of the channel changed after will left, i don't think i've ever seen so much Edwin/Ethan time spent together one on one
Hell Yes!!! I haven't been this stoked in a while man. Love the fab skills Ethan. Your a true problem solver / engineer. Of course the backing tracks are gold. Cuz that's what Edwin does. Produce! Dam good with it too!
If memory serves, I wanna say the TAA 10 Headstamp on the casing you found means TAA = 205th Arsenal, an imported ammo manufaturer. The 10 stands for FMJ (Full Metal Jacket). As for what Caliber that is, it looks like it could be a 5.56 or 7.62. Most likely from a and held or mounted M249 or something around that ballpark.
Love to see the direction the channel is going. Started with long travel Barbie jeeps and the projects keep getting bigger, but just as cool. Keep it coming 🤘
Every Humvee video you guys put out now makes me think, I wonder if the Army mechanics who gave up on these vehicles are watching these videos and laughing every time you diagnose another issue they couldn't figure out?
@@GrindHardPlumbingCodude it’s legit like a tobacco chew but with caffeine. Glad Will left before these things came out or you’d have a problem on your hands
15K man! It's a long haul, but your work speaks for itself. You're on the right track, and its not fair that they greased the straightaway but keep the faith.
Definitely The Humvette for a name. Also I can't believe that ls bolts right up to the humvee bell housing. That's insanely cool, I was wondering what you guys were gonna do but that was simpler than I expected.
The joys of working on GM (particularly Chevy)stuff. The transmission bolt pattern is the same between big block, small block, diesel, and I believe inline 6 engines.
You have done almost everything you could to this poor hummer without doing the one thing that would make the most difference. New coils, i didn't see you do them in the suspension overhaul vid. It's a 1.25 ton truck, that springrate is way too high for good articulation with no load in it. That's why nobody likes how they ride. That should've been #1 modification is to get softer springs.
I found the lowest rate springs (and longest) I could find on ebay for front and back and added Cepek adjustable shocks. They are a huge improvement over stock. I run my 42s at about 11-12 psi on most fast gravel roads and trails (down to 6 in the sand - oh those double bead locks) and it absorbs everything well. I do think I bottom more on jumps now. It really needs more travel. The Predictor long travel is H1 Hummer kind of money that I don't have. I can't wait to see what they do with this build.
if you do too much weight reduction on that it wont do off road as well anymore , the reason the humvees work so well is because its weight pushes down so much on its tyres it just goes up shit mainly from the grip on the front pulling its self out , now youve taken so much weight away its gona slip on top the mud a lot more , so lossing your weight is not what you want
Great to see/hear the end to the Humvee engine, it sounds like a biscuit tin of nails in a cement mixer. That L.S. is going to really transform your Humvee.
Laminar flow of diesel looks amazing. As far as I understand it, every diesel molecule has the same velocity so the look like a solid pice of very clear ice ice in this case
This is going to be interesting, yes, I can say that without skepticism! Now we are back to the Grind Hard that I remember. Good on you Ethan. I heard your quick comments about the direction of the suspension work. You said "long travel" in one second and I perked up! I'd like to see long travel suspension under a Hummer. That will probably raise it up a little, how much, who knows for now. With the focus now the Hummer does that mean the Monster Chopper is done?
In a high performance scenario I would think solid motor mounts for instant power transfer to the axels instead of waiting for motor to twist and hit the stops in the motor mounts before power goes were you want it. This would be a blast I can not wait until you get her finished.

If you're wanting to rack crawl with it you may want a supercharger instead of turbo for low rev torque
wiiiiii
A supercharger is 10 grand.
The LS has really good torque NA so rock crawling wont be a problem
@@boddysurfer So is a top end turbo. But as long as we're making up numbers, why not push for 20?
@@jagharingenyoutube Yeah, but low end or high end?
So glad you guys brought back your original songs back on this build so premium!
Yeah you know that HMMWV engine.... There's now a car that needs an engine... HMMVette?
It would be the most useless yet intriguing build, and HMMVette is an amazing project name lol
I see Ethan was just reminded to NOT cut the wheel in reverse as that about the only way to roll that fat daddy.....ask me how i know...❤️🇺🇲
Oooohh ooohhh pick me! 🤚 I know how that happens! 😂😂😂
@@kjewell91 ya buddy!! I did it one time in an 86 4Runner I just put a motor in ..... young, dumb,n full of ......❤️🇺🇲
That is the easiest way to roll a vehicle at low speed.
@@kevinsellsit5584 100%❤️🇺🇲
@@JDZiemba1773 😂😂😂 sometimes learning is funnest the hard way.
it's crazy how much the dynamic of the channel changed after will left, i don't think i've ever seen so much Edwin/Ethan time spent together one on one
We lost WIll before we got house siding.
hahahah!!!!
and I think they sold the stretch humvee limo too
@@davidanalyst671 They never had a Hummer limo... The ford limo is in the background at 1:28 😂
That's never happening. Me know 6 yrs later . Thats an after life job ! Lol
WOW! Who knew Ethan was such a modern-day ‘Colin Chapman’ who’s mantra was famously: “Simplify, then add lightness.”
You need to make a T-shirt with that still image of Ethan on his head on the Humvee.
That was Edwin. Ethan was driving.
As a (former) Army mechanic, watching the engine removal was good memories.
Removing the hood and the front end together was a technique...
Smiles per gallon 0:26
I love that at 38:36, it shows the extent of how you accurately get your measurements.
You could call it the 'PLUMBVEE' 😂
I think humvette is better seen that on another comment
Using a finger thickness as a measurement but then using calipers to get that exact thickness to three decimal places is quintessential Grind Hard.
Jheeeeze ethan is extra sketch now will has gone 😂😂😂 6:13
That's one way to end up in a wheelchair for life
As I am in a wheelchair maybe treasure what you have and no video is worth it
I love how you brought back some of the OG music. Fits the vibe. And, with this premium build I've been excited for.
Not the AC !! You'll regret so bad 😂
Enter to Win! One (slightly used) New Motocross in our new Raffle! Only shit on once! Runs "Fine" 😂😂
Love to see the direction the channel is going. Started with long travel Barbie jeeps and the projects keep getting bigger, but just as cool. Keep it coming 🤘
There is just so much space in that engine room with the LS
They have just about enoughbroom to put in a second LS
😭😭😭 TWSS
@@thomgardnerwrestlingreviewsthe gigavee
I was about to correct you to "engine bay" but with the size of the humvee and the space with the LS, "room" seems more fitting.
So much room for activities
Every Humvee video you guys put out now makes me think, I wonder if the Army mechanics who gave up on these vehicles are watching these videos and laughing every time you diagnose another issue they couldn't figure out?
like a socket blocking fuel intake?
"Half a hexagon" will live in my head rent free from now on.
Loving the diverse music to accompany the video
Caffeine chews?
What kind of sorcery is this!?
The best kind man! We have a link in the description if you would like to check them out.
"The GrindHard slurpee flavor" 😂😂
Ethan is my spirit animal.
Yeeta.
You are going to piss off A LOT of Hummer fan boys, and I LOVE IT!
its a humvee and the ls is the worse motor for it
@@djjaysky9071 lol, cope.
@@djjaysky9071I can think of worse motors than the LS
could have been a 1.9 TDI lol@@chrislancaster6986
@djjaysky9071 Worst. The word you are looking for is worst.
Now put the Hummve engine in the corvette 👍😂
24:50 Ethan gets it right the first time, it's laminar flow, then proceeds to say ANYTHING but the correct term for the next ten seconds.
I can't wait to see what they do with this build.
this is honestly my favorite channel. Yall make some very impressive stuff. i feel like i can only aspire to do the stuff that i see in your shop.
I'm super stoked to see you improve the humvee! I love it!! I look forward to every episode!!
TAA 10 Taiwan 223 round . Love you guys , Ethan you have MAD SKILLS . We here in North Carolina play as hard as ya'll do . Into UTV's
On a long enough timeline… y’all know the rest.
Another awesome video, thanks guys!
this thing is so magical it developed a new feature every time something broke. first an angry growl, then an ejector seat, and it still kept going
if you do too much weight reduction on that it wont do off road as well anymore , the reason the humvees work so well is because its weight pushes down so much on its tyres it just goes up shit mainly from the grip on the front pulling its self out , now youve taken so much weight away its gona slip on top the mud a lot more , so lossing your weight is not what you want
Great to see/hear the end to the Humvee engine, it sounds like a biscuit tin of nails in a cement mixer. That L.S. is going to really transform your Humvee.
I know, right, bro? Love how Finch brings his game spirit to 4RBT. Makes betting there even more thrilling!
I love the fast back shell with the window louvers. If it's going to be a race vehicle, you should put one on your Humvee.
Laminar flow of diesel looks amazing. As far as I understand it, every diesel molecule has the same velocity so the look like a solid pice of very clear ice ice in this case
Your guys' build quality on everything custom you put your hand to is top notch, bravo
Thank you very much!
If anyone's wondering, the wicked sick track that plays 1/4 way through this video is called Recall by the one and only Edwin Olding :)
Thanks
Thank you!!!
44:53 dammit boy……..! Instant Classic
I so much love your videos is cool and funny, I love the way you swap it
Lmao. Edwin’s face smashed into the rag top of the humvee paused at the end of the video 🤣😂😝
I’m dead… 😆
I enjoy all your projects. Thank you for sharing with us.
The amount of shenanigans in this video. I love it.
I have NEVER been more stoked for a build. I have always wanted to do this.
The editing on this channel is next level. This is so much better than any movie nowadays
In a high performance scenario I would think solid motor mounts for instant power transfer to the axels instead of waiting for motor to twist and hit the stops in the motor mounts before power goes were you want it. This would be a blast I can not wait until you get her finished.
Total job dedication there. Straight back into the giveaway promotion after near front flipping a humvee. My hat is off to you sir well done 👍
