This loop is made with the MGS2 Documix release of the menu theme. The Documix aimed to make available the tracks of "Sons of Liberty", "Substance" and "the Document of" versions of the game which weren't released on any of the commercial soundtrack CDs.

Hearing this let you know that you were in for a weird ride while playing MGS2.

Considering that my first impression of it is how alien sounding it is to the first games menu theme and the funky theme.

I remember my whole family left for a party I didn’t go because I was “sick” I took my ps2 to the living room (the biggest tv in house at the time) I connected the console then the controller, Then I placed it poorly on the sofa not knowing if you press R2 a thunder sound effect plays as soon as it hit the ground my soul left my body lol

Every once in a while I rewatch to the scenes where Raiden talks with the Patriots, via Colonel and Rose, I then turn on the news and it gets closer every damn time. This game and this whole series foretold the way it would go pretty damn close.

While I agree that it's a cool song, nothing fucks with the menu theme in MGS1 and Snake Eater.
I'm addicted to this track since the first time I listened to it. Felt right at home since MGS1 relied heavily on electronic music, but the excellent use of this - sort of - choir (also used in Arsenal's Guts, but also in Psycho Mantis' hymn or the Cavern theme in the prequel) made the track so much more menacing.
MGS2 is a masterpiece (and I don't use this word often, since it has lost its meaning nowadays), way ahead of its time. I was once again amazed by this game even though I replayed it 17 years after its release.
I just finished it for the first time, too. I'm still blown away by the ending.
JFKwasAFK same here, tried playing MGS3 but it’s definitely not as smooth or as cool as sons of liberty. Raiden and Snake are fuckin legends. MGS2 was my first Solid as well.
Glad to know that people still play this game for the first time and are introduced to this unparalleled series. It's never too late.
I'm currently playing all the MGS games again and finished Sons of Liberty yesterday. It left me speechless once again with it's pinpoint accuracy, it's use of subversiveness, and how it used MGS1 as a basis. Definitely the ballsiest video game sequel ever made. Makes someone sad for today's lack of boldness in the AAA industry.
I've been playing the game on and off for years, but only beat it for the first time last year. I'm doing another playthrough now on the HD version and definitely plan to play others in the series too. I played a few minutes of Phantom Pain and it seemed pretty sick.
A masterpiece,for real and the music is simply PERFECT

@@Grandmaster-Kushthis game came out in 2001, and I first played it as a 6 year old. I can say, 23 years later, this game has much more attention to detail than 99% of current games being released.
When you hear the menu theme again after you beat the game is like an out-of-body experience.

Not only that but there are so many things that this game spoke of that came to reality in so many ways is scary..... A true masterpiece that'll always remain timeless.

Yeah. Its a good thing that Kojima made the opening screen say something along the lines of, "All groups and incidents in this game are not real, and all similarities are only coincidental". If he didn't start the game with that sentence, people would probably think he has psychic powers.
I just finished this once again, such an excellent game. I just wished we got a little bit more of Snake, but Jack was a cool protagonist too.
I just love how one of the main themes of the game is that Jack's existence is mostly to fuck with the player's expectation of Snake being the protagonist.
Mees I enjoy playing this game with a damn fine cup of coffee and a slice of cherry pie.

They made some extra missions with Snake as the people wanted more with Snake.
I got pissed when I learned we had to play as raiden, but once I learned his back story I really liked the bait and switch Kojima did.

If you only knew what kind of ride you were in for when you heard this music....probably still my favorite game of all time.
MGS2 for me as the best thematic and colors in the whole series. Always love the Big Shell
I'm not technical with music and sounds, so I'll try my best to describe this.
For me, it gives an industrial kind of vibe in the foreground, layered with windy sounds creating a chilly, eary, haunting, isolated, tense-filled atmosphere. Just the right mood for a stealth game like MGS2.
Don't forget about the "Liberty Bell" sound in it here and there.

Like how most of internet culture today is made out of small, easily digestible memes that are repeated ad nauseam with small superficial alterations. Discourse that takes place in isolated digital echo chambers where people get themselves worked up over straw men they’ve built, which are based on their narrow perceptions of people they’ve never actually met or interacted with. Truth is now based on what ideology you believe in or what influencers you follow rather than what is consistently verifiable with reality. The vast majority of information is spread digitally through just a handful of platforms so the owners of said platforms can control what information is spread and passed on. Or, more accurately, the owners will hire engineers to develop and adjust an ai to police their platform that must satisfy corporate interests, the most vocal users of the platform, and modern interpretations of 200 year old laws on free speech. An ai which is pretty much a black box to shareholders, lawyers, it’s users, and even its creators.

This music is so right for MGS's stealth genre of gaming. It feels like going into the unknown.....when I pressed that Start button and became Snake, who knew what lay beneath every corner, every door, up the stairs. It was carefully does it all the way....Why not harness the super power of the PS5 and remake the earlier MGS' but only if you keep the music as it is. Gaming graphics are amazing these days and i'm unsure if they will be a better time to do these. Are you reading Kodijma?????
Konami holds the rights for MGS, and Kojima left Konami, bud. Our only hope is Sony purchasing the franchise.

Why remake perfection? If you think it's a great game already then you shouldn't have a desire to remake it. Good games age well and don't need remakes, I think Twin Snakes is the perfect example of how remakes can do a disservice to the original. The Silent Hill 2 HD "upgrade" is an example of how even tweaking the graphics of something can end up badly. I'm am almost against remakes entirely, they're lazy and the only people who want them are people who want to change the original.

Been playing metal gear since I was a kid, now I’m an adult in the military as a combat medic (this decision was heavily inspired by venom snake’s mos) and I listen to this all the time. It makes me feel “pretty good”

Man, I was 6 years old when I played this for the first time and it was my first metal gear. I had no idea what the fuck was going on, but I know that I'd loved it for some reason. Now I'm a 21 year old Metal Gear fanatic 😂

I love gow the menu screen has this very indistinct face which can be interpreted as solidus, ocelot, raiden, Snake. it's really cool
I thought that it was obvious that the first face that you see in the menu screen was Snake. Felt like it was even more obvious once you complete the game, and suddenly Raidens eyes are on the menu screen.
@@DaGalaxyBoy idk, everytime I look at the menu I can see multiple characters, even the first time viewing i wasn't sure who it was. almost like the rorschach ink blot but for faces
@themagalanium9491 I mean, I can kinda see what you mean after I read your comment. When I played through the game and always looked at the menu screen I was always like, "OK, yeah, that's Snakes eyes, makes sense." But now after reading how you see multiple characters, I can kinda see how the eyes can be interpreted as being either Snakes, Ocelots or Solidus', eyes. But even so, I think the intention was for the first eyes that you see before completing the game being Solid Snake's eyes (cause back when the game came out, people only knew that Solid Snake would be coming back, and didn't know about anyone else), and then after completing the game, the eyes changing to Raidens eyes and the color changing from red to blue.

This games main theme song besides the entire embodiment of (OST themes) which is riddled with amazing beautiful New York Jazz style of ambient themes in the sound track.
Is - Can't say goodbye to Yesterday. Although since Metal Gear Solid II to many stubborn fan is not as popular or cared for as much as "MGS I & III" ( snake eater )

This song here is Just the title screen music. Not the theme even in ( VR exercise game modes ) there was different music for the tutorials as well had videos on how to play in the game & they had cool different tracks. This game had the best produced & live orchestrated music & sound tracks of all time my opinion.

One of the few games I have ever pre ordered and I don't ever do it, was at college during the PS2 era and picked it up before I started that Friday morning. A friend also got his copy as well let's just say we didn't learn anything that day because we just wanted to get home and play the game. But When I first hear this I left my console on for an hour to listen to it, my brother banged in the bedroom wall and told me to turn it off lol
