  • It is so very refreshing to see a company come up with their own version of what they believe is a top quality drone, and making the status quo even better. If you love drones then the XDynamics Evolve is certainly a unique drone to consider. UPDATE: XDynamics has the user gimbal calibration coming in a firmware update.

    Obviously the DJI fanboys are going to hate this one, hence the negative comments about video quality, but it seems to pick ip detail quite well, I'd love to see its image quality on a clear bright day...great review brother 👍

    No 1" sensor, no 4K 60, no Obstacle avoidance, 20 min flight time? Might as well get an Evo and have a much better drone. The controller is cool but that doesn't justify a $2500 price tag.

      the price is much due to the fact it's all new, new company new drone, new controller everything.

    I finished the review and checked the link for the price. To be completely honest, I expected it to be twice as much as what X Dynamics is selling it for today, 12/22/19. A firmware update is all that is needed for the little hiccup you mention at the end. I'm extremely impressed. Great info.

    I will say for a Non-DJI product I am very impressed with this drone. As a camera platform it is very stable and the controller is intimidating. I would love to see this drone filming in a more colorful setting to truly get an impression of that camera. With the Phantom Line being shut down at DJI this may be a viable "large" platform drone to use. Thanks for this great and comprehensive demo.

    This drone is legitimate competition for the Phantom, Inspire and Mavic pro series drones. If they can fit this technology and hardware into a smaller size drone as Dji does with their mavic pro and air series, we'll then have true competition. Very nice! My Phantom 4 threw a prop (20 minutes into a flight?) I'll call it an act of God. It's four years old and never let me down, until this. Fell 90ft and smashed the UV filter, broke a leg and cut the compass lead. My gimbal guard worked! £25 and some bravery on my part should fix it. This is the first drone that has piqued my interest since the Phantom 4 Pro. The evolve is a nice looking drone. Nice review as always Cap. Kudos on snagging one for a review. This drone uses 90% in-house R&D and components are not as "off the shelf" as other drones. It is the difference between buying a high end car that looks great but does just the basics, or an affordable mass produced car that car take the kids to soccer, pick up groceries, etc.

      Over the short time I've had a drones, my photo opportunities have played out in my local area much like the strip mine where Big Brutus once operated. So at this point, I am less focused on the camera, but thinking more about the enjoyment I get out of flying. From this review, it appears that the XDynamics is more a pilot's drone, made more for pleasure and videos. A Mavic 2 Pro is more a work tool to get the shots. In the end, it all boils down to ergonomics, which is where the XDynamics delivers. And this is why folks with deep pockets will buy a Rolex watch, when an Apple watch will give time just as accurately at 1/10th the price.

    The thing I really want to see is the concept Autel had at CES 2017 that never came out. It had 360 Obstacle avoidance, retractable landing gear, removable 360 degree camera with 1" sensor, and a controller like this one that has a built-in screen.

    Captain! Very nice quick review of a very nice drone! It is a fantastic looking machine with a great controller. I like the concept of having two displays on the controller! The carbon fiber body construction looks top-notch, and it appears to have plenty of power. The noise level is a bit high, but perhaps they will develop a different style prop to quiet it down a bit in a future upgrade. You didn’t mention it in your review, but it appears to me as if it does not have obstacle detection/avoidance. I would like to see that in future development as well. Overall, great looking drone😃! I can say that I wouldn’t mind adding it to my collection!! Thanks again for a great initial presentation on a new drone-keep up the excellent work, Captain😃🛩..........

    The financial sting is reduced when you consider the two monitors ,the extra battery, the case, etc. then it’s only about $300 more than a P4P plus. Now if it was a one inch sensor , boy howdy . One thing missing from the RC is a lanyard attachment point. I want one of these with the micro 4/3 camera.

  • @printer5518
    @printer5518 5 лет назад +1

    I think the $2500 price tag is actually not that bad for what this drone is. It’s absolutely beautiful. And the controller is by far the best controller I’ve seen on the market. I’ve been considering the phantom four pro but now I’m actually looking at this. The only thing I’m wondering about is why they wouldn’t add some kind of obstacle avoidance. But honestly I really don’t think I would need obstacle avoidance.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  5 лет назад +1

      Somedays obstacle avoidance is great and others it becomes a burden. I would not have been able to fly between the trees as I did at the very end with obstacle avoidance on. It all depends on where you fly, what you film and your distance the drone is away from your eyes.

  • @tigrenoir17
    @tigrenoir17 5 лет назад +1

    I stay on my choice of a Mavic 2 Pro, because I need a foldable drone to make aerial photography.
    But if I wanted a Phantom 4 to do videos...I'll take the time to think about it. The quality of the camera is not as good as a DJI one, but the possibility to change the camera is making it it more versatile. The flight time is nearly the same (because everyone know than you cannot fly as long as DJI is telling you), the controller is giant and you haven't to buy a screen to use it. And what a look :O
    So, for me it's more a rival for the Phantom... but what a pretty rival.
    And, finally it seem some companies start to make quality drone as good as those made by DJI. Competition in the next year will maybe become interresting :)

    Capt. I have been watching and watching and waiting for this Drone to hit the market, and im happy that you are the honest brave soul to be one of first to review it. I will check out the website for specs. I just hope that X Dynamics is not a one hit wonder. Like Yuneec did with there look alike Q500, then left its customers out in the cold doing very little to improve it product, then just dropped it, and us. But is was looking to here if it had colisión avoidance? But keep it going i will be looking for more.

    I thank you for an actual review. I have felt the company is hiding something because it is near impossible to get any videos on this quad. I am happy to see a real person, a real reviewer get one. I am sure you will bring us lots more on this quad. I would like to know its range as the site says it is less than 1 mile. No 4K 60 also seems like a major oversight on this. It has the same sensor as the Evo and it is $999 and will go supposedly 4.3 miles and I have had mine 3.1 miles out for sure. It will do 4K 60. The batteries are 159 each where the Evo batteries are $85 each with about 25 minutes flight time. While the controller is impressive, I guess I'm not seeing the value overall. If the company wanted to send me a test unit, I would test it like crazy as I did the Evo. The Evo still has lots of shortcomings and has had tilt horizon issues since day 1 and to hear this one does as well is not a good sign for the company. I fear at this price they won't last long and I will soon buy one at $1,000. So when will more test flights be up? I would like to see distance, battery life, RTH multiple times and all of it's smart modes. Thanks as always and I love your videos and channel.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks Danny. Funny that you mention the EVO because when flying this drone, the available options are somewhat similar to the EVO, and it even seems to have the same issue the EVO had at launch (horizon not always level). Plenty of features for this drone are in development, and many are just greyed out on the interface due to this. The company has no problems making high tech commercial drone items, so this consumer market seems to be a venture on their part to see how it goes and what they can achieve. As you can imagine, I have plenty of items to review on a weekly basis, so I will just put this drone back in the line-up for another review of features as I move through products.

    • @DannyFyffe
      @DannyFyffe 5 лет назад

      @@CAPTAINDRONE798 I hope you push it up the line. At that price, I would expect to see some greatness. So when you reported the tilted horizon, I was not expecting that. The sensor it has is no better either than the Evo. Don't you think they would have started with a 4/3rds camera at least instead of bringing it out at some point down the road? I recently got the Anafi and I am pretty impressed with it and feature for feature, I would take the Anafi. I'm sure this one has its purpose, but at this point and time, I can only see it as a profit maker for the company. Of course, that is providing anyone buys it. So I am interested in your reviews as so far, you seem to be the only guy who has one on it. Thanks for the reply. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

    Thank you for showing us a detailed review of this. Any DJI competition is welcomed but at this price point the omission of 4k60 won't fit my workflow. I'm wondering what other camera options will be available for this. Hopefully it won't take as long for the Autel Evo drunken horizon syndrome to be corrected ( I say this with love Autel Evo)
