I always tell people who are new to drones to remember the 2 "P"s, Which are Point and Push. You "Point" the drone the direction you want it to go, then "Push" forward on the right stick. Those instructions to point and push have always helped me when I was instructing someone who was new to drone flying. No need to learn all the orientations all at once if you just remember to point and push when you are new.
It will be ineffective when you get in a condition where you have lots of obstructions and your gps doesn't work and you have to react in seconds to keep the drone from drifting. Yes it is a good way to not worry about orientation but if you asked me, I wouldn't let anyone who can't hover tail in, side orientations and nose in, in full atti mode to go to a high altitude long range flight, as a lot of things can go wrong at any time and need to be reacted fast and effectively. You might smash into a wall before you can yaw out and push forwards, whereas you can use the cyclic even diaognally to get the drone out of the obstruction if you know your orientation and can react fast
I've been 'heavily' involved in RC aircraft for close to 50 years, primarily gliders & sailplanes, and was fortunate to start when the systems were close to what we are using now, and had always wanted to fly helicopters, but they were too twitchy at the time and way too expensive as well - at least for the average everyday guy and drones were not available in the civilian market at the time. Started looking at drones a few years ago, but being retired and with limited funds the drones I preferred were still to pricey, so I decided to wait until they had worn out the "newness" and could be sold at a price I was willing to pay, so I really appreciated the information you presented and will take a serious look at a few of the higher-end drones you showed. There other options in buying a DJI they sell factory refurbished units, that are completely gone through and are just like new and much cheaper, that is the way I went and got a Phantom 3 Standard SE for $430.00 dollars( the last time I checked the price of an SE on Amazon it was $700.00), just like new, came with everything a new one would straight from the DJI store. DJI also has a program that cost $60.00 dollars a year, that if your drone fly's off on you they will replace it and you the have the option of renewing that program annually, check that out. Are there any controllers that can work with an iPad mini vs cell phone? You’d sure get a larger display... That last controller that expands could at least accommodate the size.
LG Stylo 4 is an excellent yet inexpensive phone with 5g wifi (802.11 ac). Big, bright screen too. Costs $150 from Walmart for instance. Several phone companies give it away free by switching to them.
A very informative video and a great job from captain drone but what really bugs me is that most drones are restricted to flying mode 2 TX . I learned to fly both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft in Australia where most pilots fly mode 1 and trying to teach the brain to fly mode 2 on one aircraft and mode 1 on another is very difficult and results in numerous crashes. BTW, I am aware that some DJI models can be changed but can anyone suggest a good low cost drone wit numerous features with mode 1 TX configuration or the ability to be able to change between modes other than expensive DJI models?
The Traxxas Aton seems to get no respect from you drone vloggers but its super fun and fast as hell. Some of us just like to fly... without the cinematography and selfies.
Sailing SV Salacia I’m considering the Magic Mini myself, S3. But also the Poweregg and a few others. Can you tell me please what decided you on this one and was it just the fact that it doesn’t require FAA licensing. For a brand newbie like myself, did you have any challenges during your early flights. Thanks. For your response. Rod
Hi there Sir, Thank you so much for your reviews. I am a beginner and want to start off cheap to see if I'm going to use one on my camping and motorcycle adventures.
My first drone was the first Mavic Pro after a few inexpensive quadcopters. Looking to buy a Mavic Mini for its much smaller size and easier to take with me when I travel! :-)
Exactly what I did...got fed up with the complexity of the pro and the size of everything all in...so far the mini is pretty sweet...not as high quality as the pro and not as many options but much more simple in all ways, super portable, much more convenient batteries, great flight time, they don't self discharge and so on...if you're aware of the limitations you'll be happy with the swap
I finally decided that I want to get into drones and after spending day after day watching/reading reviews (including this video TWICE), I just ordered the EACHINE EX4 with 3 batteries!
A 7" Tablet with 5G is a whole lot cheaper than a phone..that's all I use..mount it on a tripod sometimes, or modified the phone holders to hold the tablet.
Find out where your actual antenna is inside your transmitters and which way it's orientated. Make sure Drone Control link is not disturbed by 5g link. I like remotes with external antennas that can whip down, away from your phone. It's crazy, that phone i just bought a month ago doesn't have 5g wifi, yet my 4yr old 7" Samsung tablet has it !!
@@svenmohamad8646 I don't have to go through all that..my 7" Tablet can reach out well over 300 meters which is perfect for me since in my State there are a lot of restrictions on where you fly. My 10" Tablet reaches out 320 meters. Both tablet together cost $180..far under the cost of a 5G phone, & for now I don't need the signal to go any further than what it does. That's more $$ in my pocket to get my next Drone! ;)
@@HippyDave57 Seems like you can get 5g Wifi, ONLY in High Priced Phones,,, Weird. All my old & cheap Tablets have 5g Wifi. Thank you again for another epic review of what we could expect for 2020. Just ONE massive question... As the rumour seems to be taking this drone out of proportion... Do you have the inside scoop of what we could expect for the upcoming DJI Mavic 3's?
Once again, great video! Ordered a Eachine EX4 5G on 06/17 from Banggood. Scheduled to arrive 7/25. Got the 2 battery setup. Also ordered a third battery and extra battery charger.
Happy Sunday! Got my Eachine EX4 yesterday. Going to maiden voyage her today. So I notice in some of your videos you say the app you use may have different functions depending on if you use an iPhone or an Android phone. I have an iPhone XR. Thinking of getting an Android phone also. Will the flying experience with the EX4 differ between the two different phones? In your opinion does it matter which phone you use? Do you have a preference between Android or iOS? Keep YouTubin’ and TIA!
Hi Captain. Thx for the usefull videos! I'm searching for a beginners "travel-drone". Should i buy the Hubsan Zino Pro, DJI Mavic mini or is it worth to spend more on the DJI Mavic Air? I won't be a heavy user but my grandma always told me: "If you buy cheap, you'll buy twice" :-)
My first drone was garbage. I had it for about a week before I ordered a Mavic Pro 2. Now I have a Mavic Mini on order. I live on the Gulf Coast of Florida and I didn't want to turn my M2P into a submarine. Plus the packability of the Mini is pretty nice.
Hi Captain. Really enjoying your content. Please, include the weight along with the price. I think it's a very important spec to consider. Keep up the great work!

@@kelnewman676 Everyone and no-one. You listen to the feedback from people who have already gotten one and evaluate it against your own requirements. For example, I primarily do still photography, so all the details about video were not very important to me. I did eventually purchase another drone and got an Autel Evo. The information I found suggested the camera was what I wanted. I've been happy with it.
Another great video. I also really like the new graphics at the start. If I may make one (hopefully constructive) comment, when the video started I made a grab for the volume as it was very loud, but then when you came on I had to turn it back up. I am much more interested in hearing what you have to say (because it's always useful and interesting) than the intro music. Hope you don't mind me saying that. Other than that it was another really info packed video and clearly a lot of work went into it. Very useful. Thanks.

Sorry if this is a silly question, or has been asked before, but is it a given that all of these take still images along with video? Photos aren’t mentioned with every unit, so I just wondered if some are video-only and a still would have to be extracted from video.
Another informative video thanks. It would be unfair of me not to comment on my recent experience buying one of the Fimi X8 se drones. Fortunately I cannot blame you, as I had purchased prior to this video. I wouldn't like you to be blamed for people having the same experience as I did. I have to WARN UK BUYERS, beware of Banggood. The drone was dispatched from their European warehouse, thereby they avoid import taxes. When the drone arrived it had a faulty gimbal. I contacted Banggood, who were no better than useless to deal with, their e-mails were clearly automated and of no help whatsoever. Having resorted to contacting Fimi direct, who did try and resolve the problem, without success, I was left with having to return the drone to Banggood. Instead of returning it to Europe, I was forced to return it direct to China. Banggood return policy was that they pay for the return shipping if an item is broken or defective. WRONG, they only pay a maximum of £30 towards the return shipping, which was £76. They also expect the purchaser to pay the customs duty. STAY WELL CLEAR of Banggood. I agree the drone does appear to be an excellent drone, but I would warn and advise to purchase direct from Fimi if possible. They were helpful. Just as a point of reference, I have attached a link to a brief video I had to send to FIMI about the fault. ruclips.net/video/ObWbKXYpISE/видео.html
And sometimes the cell phone is more expensive than the drone :))....FFS PowerEgg is a beast.....thing is that's not such a begginer drone (as the official price was in the beginning 1000E), but now it's cheaper :P (God bless Powervision) What i do not really like about the Powervision that it's hard to connect to my phone, but other than that, it's a great drone after it connects. P.S.: I've bought it from the Powervision dealership at 390$ with a spare battery :D. (not dealershit, but their homepage)

Lol. Happy New year my friend. Love the reviews! Keep up the good work! I look forward to all the new drone videos this year! Stay warm up in the great white North!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 It woke up my grand-daughter.
Are there any controllers that can work with an iPad mini vs cell phone? You’d sure get a larger display... That last controller that expands could at least accommodate the size.
Plenty of the controllers can use a IPAD MINI or larger, but it requires a simple add on device.
CAPTAIN DRONE good news 👍😄
Just thought I would let you know that I am binge watching videos of captain drone. Yeah I lead an exciting life..... 🤦♂️.
I awaiting your review in the New York Times. :-)
LG Stylo 4 is an excellent yet inexpensive phone with 5g wifi (802.11 ac). Big, bright screen too. Costs $150 from Walmart for instance. Several phone companies give it away free by switching to them.
X9P Heron or bugs-4w 4k for hiking and backpacking? Also is there an active forum that discusses drones?
A very informative video and a great job from captain drone but what really bugs me is that most drones are restricted to flying mode 2 TX .
I learned to fly both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft in Australia where most pilots fly mode 1 and trying to teach the brain to fly mode 2 on one aircraft and mode 1 on another is very difficult and results in numerous crashes.
BTW, I am aware that some DJI models can be changed but can anyone suggest a good low cost drone wit numerous features with mode 1 TX configuration or the ability to be able to change between modes other than expensive DJI models?
Amazing how you did all those drones in a 19-minute video. Great recap Captain.
Man you really are a Godsend to anyone interested in drones! I send people to your channel all the time now!
Thank you!
I fly the Bugs4W and it's fantastic and the price was superb. Also, you are my go-to guy for drones and flight toys!
Just getting into drones and man there is no one better on youtube than you!
Thank you!
For the tello 100% get tello fpv it is a great app with good provesionalnsettings and interface. Also it let's you use other Bluetooth controllers
thanks for the video, is there a video comparing picture quality and pros and cons?
The FULL review of each drone is listed below the video.
The Traxxas Aton seems to get no respect from you drone vloggers but its super fun and fast as hell. Some of us just like to fly... without the cinematography and selfies.
Can't buy that one in my neck of the woods (stores say it is too old and discontinued outside the US).
Good information. Is there a 2021 update to this video?
I hope to work on one soon.
Got my first drone. Impressed with the Mavic Mini.
For what it's worth. I had just submitted my formal comment with the FAA fingers crossed. My voice gets heard. Good job with your video as always. 👍.
Hello sir .bugs4w 4k and bugs 5w 4k are who is batter one please tell me about that.camera stable flight range who is better one
Enjoy!
Know any quick mods/trix to mounting a Bigger Tablet on to a remote control? Or even simpler way of mounting it on a tripod? There's got to be a real easy way,, Reminder,,, if flying in a park with 5g antennas, aways have them far and on your Back.
@@svenmohamad8646 Amazon has several custom tablet cradles that will mount on a tripod..the one I got was $20 & will fit a 7"-12" tablet.
@@HippyDave57 Thanks,, will look up
Thanks Captain. Don't forget the other discount code. It's called New Zealand gst. Came into effect 1st December 2019 for ANY overseas purchases no mattter how much. Add 15 pc. Hey, we don't even have to put the code in, it's done for us. Keep up your content.
Nice intro CD
Happy Monday everyone
For Zino pro when I add coupon the price increase with out coupon is AU$ 458 and with coupon is AU$ 578.
Very strange. Maybe it is already on sale.
Thank you again for another epic review of what we could expect for 2020.
Just ONE massive question... As the rumour seems to be taking this drone out of proportion... Do you have the inside scoop of what we could expect for the upcoming DJI Mavic 3's?
Expect a new MAVIC in 2020... will it be called the MAVIC 3? That I don't know. Check out my 2020 Drone Prediction Video.
I think for travelling you'd be very pleased with the MAVIC MINI for so many reasons.... that you will discover, while travelling.
Would be nice if you included the weight coz it needs to be under 250 grams to not have to register!
And now I have a new DJI mini 2 yey!
My first drone was garbage. I had it for about a week before I ordered a Mavic Pro 2. Now I have a Mavic Mini on order. I live on the Gulf Coast of Florida and I didn't want to turn my M2P into a submarine. Plus the packability of the Mini is pretty nice.
Always enjoy the annual preview of ‘the drones of the upcoming year’. The Capt. does a great job making it easy to check them all out for yourselves!
Hi Captain. Really enjoying your content. Please, include the weight along with the price. I think it's a very important spec to consider. Keep up the great work!
GOT TELLO YAY!! saving for something like the evo or evo 2 not a fan of geo fencing! I think when it comes to dji you pay for the drone AND the brand if u know what I mean
SlipperyGamer the eco looks amazing!!
The controller for the Tello also works on the iPhone not just android as stated...
Not mine. Android only. Was purchased when the Tello first came out.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I only recently bought mine for a bit of fun when the weather is crap, must have updated the firmware since for iPhone...
Technology sure is improving on small companies like the mjxrc and the c-fly
Captain, have you since tried the DJI Mavic Mini 2? Curious of what you thought.
Love it!!!!
Love ur channel. Ur extremely helpful when it comes to drones. Thanx brother.🤙🏼 and happy new year.
Nice and informative video. Just wish you had mentioned whether they were GPS or not.
All drones are GPS except the TELLO.
Not a lot of FPV represented here, too bad. That's part of the appeal is feeling like your inside the drone flying it.
FPV QUADS do not come in all price ranges in a BOX that has everything you need and ready to fly out of the box.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 www.getfpv.com/turbobee-120rs-2-3s-micro-fpv-rtf-bundle.html One dynamite FPV bundle, with some very decent Fatshark googles, a very nice FrSky transmitter, battery, everything you need. One of the best things is the googles and transmitter can be used on other drones.
That fimi se drone is screaming for a avoidance sensor in that cool nose. It would also be cool if it had a knight rider red light going back and forth. Of course cosmetic.
Recently bought a Mavic Mini. For a newbie, it seemed like the well know name brand I could count on. I travel a lot and the tiny size was a big factor. I may consider some other makes as I learn more.
Ide like one never done this before who do i listen to
@@kelnewman676 Everyone and no-one.
@@YoSpiff thanks mate ill get one see how i get on ive lost about five planes so far lol due to crappy radio gear 🙄 have a good day 👍
I think it would help to mention max distance and clip of videos for each drone
Another great video. I also really like the new graphics at the start. If I may make one (hopefully constructive) comment, when the video started I made a grab for the volume as it was very loud, but then when you came on I had to turn it back up. I am much more interested in hearing what you have to say (because it's always useful and interesting) than the intro music. Hope you don't mind me saying that. Other than that it was another really info packed video and clearly a lot of work went into it. Very useful. Thanks.
That is one of my very old INTRO's from years ago. I do agree the volume does come on a bit strong.
Your English is perfect. Even though I am not a native speaker, I can easily understand every word you said. Furthermore, I have been interested in drones since 2008 and your comments are almost perfect as well. Thank you
neat upgrade for your "best of" videos: You may consider to show drone camera video while flying! That is what people are searching for! I know you have all the video material, so you'll have no additional work to show this in your vids I 'll ❣️
That is what the full review video is for. The last thing I want is a 2 hour video.
CAPTAIN DRONE ok, you are right, BUT you haven't linked your full reviews. Do you?
Sorry if this is a silly question, or has been asked before, but is it a given that all of these take still images along with video? Photos aren’t mentioned with every unit, so I just wondered if some are video-only and a still would have to be extracted from video.
Correct. Every camera that can record video can also record photos.
Brilliant reviews👍
God bro ! More people should sub. Amazingly detailed and superb. No nonsense video. Keep up Cap :)
Much appreciated!
I want the one from the thumbnail 🤨
I think these are the best vids! Every beginner should start here.
Your making it hard for me to pick one 😂 what would recommend for a beginner that's good quality videoing and good at flying?
J C mavic mini is the king under 250grams and video quality is really impressive
Is 802.11ac backward compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n???
Only backwards compatible with 802.11n
Thanks I'm going to get the beast

And sometimes the cell phone is more expensive than the drone :))....FFS
PowerEgg is a beast.....thing is that's not such a begginer drone (as the official price was in the beginning 1000E), but now it's cheaper :P (God bless Powervision)
What i do not really like about the Powervision that it's hard to connect to my phone, but other than that, it's a great drone after it connects.
P.S.: I've bought it from the Powervision dealership at 390$ with a spare battery :D. (not dealershit, but their homepage)
Show the simrex x900 of amazon its £59.99 GBP has 2 camera's, can use micro sd card 1080p and 720p video and photos, needs phone for camera can use Android and ios, comes with controller, 11-15 minutes of flight you can buy extra batteries. Good for beginners in my opinion.
I currently have the fimi x8 se.. I love it , been fun to fly so far.. took it to Jamaica and got some pics .. However if I was just starting out I think I would have gone with the mavic mini for the cost and features that I feel I would use most.. I have not used a lot of the features that the x8 come with but that’s me ... but I do love flying it
How is the fimi a3 ? Please review it sir. Please. Please. Please. 🙏🙏🙏
Please don't dislike we need a lot of likes on this video
why would anyone who is beginning dislike this!!!! very useful information for those beginning.... highly detailed information and all links listed....c'mon people Captain Drone went through it all
@@edwinnegron7761 probably they're the name brand fanboys
Jose Castro I am a name brand fanboy. And gave the video a big thumbs up.
The ZLL SG109 is less then JJRC and pretty close to a DJI mini 2 or a a Z109 there so many drones for low budgets or close to a DJI
The intro is louder than your voice will ever be.
WOW...excellence all around THANKS...extremely helpful to the novice and parents!!! Im going through most of your extended videos now taking notes...awesome job bro!
The best and great drone video for beginners Steve. I will include the Mantis G in your package.
Got me all excited about The Egg. Only used ones are available.
I really need a good camera drone.
Great videos and very educational. Thank you Sir.
