Captain drone is the only drone expert guy out on RUclips who ALWAYS answers questions to a no body guy out like me out here.......you rock man just the best.
I've been 'heavily' involved in RC aircraft for close to 50 years, primarily gliders & sailplanes, and was fortunate to start when the systems were close to what we are using now, and had always wanted to fly helicopters, but they were too twitchy at the time and way too expensive as well - at least for the average everyday guy and drones were not available in the civilian market at the time. Started looking at drones a few years ago, but being retired and with limited funds the drones I preferred were still to pricey, so I decided to wait until they had worn out the "newness" and could be sold at a price I was willing to pay, so I really appreciated the information you presented and will take a serious look at a few of the higher-end drones you showed. Thank you for taking the time to share your information with us.
I bought one of the drones in this video, because of your recomendation, and I love it. I got unbeleavable deal on it at Christmas. I watch all your videos because yuo give both pros and cons of the drones and you answer serious questions. thank you
I always tell people who are new to drones to remember the 2 "P"s, Which are Point and Push. You "Point" the drone the direction you want it to go, then "Push" forward on the right stick. Those instructions to point and push have always helped me when I was instructing someone who was new to drone flying. No need to learn all the orientations all at once if you just remember to point and push when you are new.
It will be ineffective when you get in a condition where you have lots of obstructions and your gps doesn't work and you have to react in seconds to keep the drone from drifting. Yes it is a good way to not worry about orientation but if you asked me, I wouldn't let anyone who can't hover tail in, side orientations and nose in, in full atti mode to go to a high altitude long range flight, as a lot of things can go wrong at any time and need to be reacted fast and effectively. You might smash into a wall before you can yaw out and push forwards, whereas you can use the cyclic even diaognally to get the drone out of the obstruction if you know your orientation and can react fast
Really appreciate your efforts with this, has made a big difference to what im buying as a beginner, although Australian prices are ridiculous, thanks again
A month ago I bought the Hubsan Zino with 2 batteries and a bag for €220 at Gearbest in a sale. I am very happy with the drone, it flies really well, and the video footage quality is more than you will ever need.
Another great video. I also really like the new graphics at the start. If I may make one (hopefully constructive) comment, when the video started I made a grab for the volume as it was very loud, but then when you came on I had to turn it back up. I am much more interested in hearing what you have to say (because it's always useful and interesting) than the intro music. Hope you don't mind me saying that. Other than that it was another really info packed video and clearly a lot of work went into it. Very useful. Thanks.
Your English is perfect. Even though I am not a native speaker, I can easily understand every word you said. Furthermore, I have been interested in drones since 2008 and your comments are almost perfect as well. Thank you
There other options in buying a DJI they sell factory refurbished units, that are completely gone through and are just like new and much cheaper, that is the way I went and got a Phantom 3 Standard SE for $430.00 dollars( the last time I checked the price of an SE on Amazon it was $700.00), just like new, came with everything a new one would straight from the DJI store. DJI also has a program that cost $60.00 dollars a year, that if your drone fly's off on you they will replace it and you the have the option of renewing that program annually, check that out. That I don't think you can get that anywhere else?
@@joanmichelfernandezcapote5712 after I did all my research I found the DJI mini mavic was the best. You can buy one from the DJI site refurbished for less money.

I like the new intro and al the drones! If I had to pick one i'd get the Power egg, Its so unique in this world of drones! Could we see some more FPV videos this year?
Man that power egg is a unique looking drone! Every week I change my mind on which drone I want next lol. The more I learn the more I figure out what my needs are. Its hard for me to want a drone that has any less than a 3 axis gimbal now that I know how important it is to stable footage. That an SD card slot and at least optical flow or ultrasonic Sensors. Since I have the x12 I’m thinking next buy will either be the mini, the air or the fimi but I also have been looking deeper into racing quads. Who knows what I’ll end up getting! Thanks for another great review!
BigTim777 compare the FIMI x8. To the Zino they are close in price but FIMI IS a much better quad in my opinion.... I love Captain’s. Videos but do a search for videos by QC GUY. It’s sought of a ZINO Channel. He has a lot of different topics. and upgrades to the Zino. ENJOY ‼️
BigTim777 I Get turned off from the ZINO because it doesn’t offer a lot for the cost they have no sensors, no Gimbal. Nothing like a 3 axis gimbal. With 4K My person opinion for a starter drone is the JJRC x12 Cheap and good for the money. 3 axis gimbal with 4K camera, Sensors and 25 min flight time 👍🏻. Can beat that for under $250
A man of your word Steve 👍 Great update video, but cause for me to go looking through all of your reviews yet again! I cancelled my Zino order with Gearbest due to a 30 day shipping issue. Bought a Bebop 2 and after seeing this video wish I'd hung in there a bit longer to get the Zino Pro or X12 . . . Such is life . . that Poweregg is still beckoning too.
Sailing SV Salacia I’m considering the Magic Mini myself, S3. But also the Poweregg and a few others. Can you tell me please what decided you on this one and was it just the fact that it doesn’t require FAA licensing. For a brand newbie like myself, did you have any challenges during your early flights. Thanks. For your response. Rod
My first drone was the tello. But there is a 3rd party app called TelloFpv which adds tons of feature you never knew the tello could have. Even lets you use the phone's GPS to plot the path of your drone. The tello may be cheap but still is the best to get with the right app. (app is android only though).
Got a Tello for my 9yo son.. it is utterly superb. Incredible for the money. Lots of after market apps to assist with developing coding skills to control it. Very happy.

Thank you again for another epic review of what we could expect for 2020. Just ONE massive question... As the rumour seems to be taking this drone out of proportion... Do you have the inside scoop of what we could expect for the upcoming DJI Mavic 3's?
I currently have the fimi x8 se.. I love it , been fun to fly so far.. took it to Jamaica and got some pics .. However if I was just starting out I think I would have gone with the mavic mini for the cost and features that I feel I would use most.. I have not used a lot of the features that the x8 come with but that’s me ... but I do love flying it
I see the selection is evolving in just the year that I’ve been interested. I don’t see many if the best sellers from Amazon from several months ago. I bought the Tello but was disappointed due to phone (S10) incompatibility problems. I suppose I just need a better drone. Thanks.
Fantastic video. I've been looking around for my first drone for 2 weeks now. Can't decide. I think I will finally be able to decide on a drone for me. Love all your videos big fan. Thanks for all your effort getting these videos out.
Its confusing now with all the available models. With the new FAA rules comming, expect the hobby to go under ground really fast. We may go back to self built, black market equipment as the FAA begins banning any Drone without some kind of tracking device( no one can afford) and requirements for a pilots licence to fly even the simplest drone.
Recently bought a Mavic Mini. For a newbie, it seemed like the well know name brand I could count on. I travel a lot and the tiny size was a big factor. I may consider some other makes as I learn more.
@@kelnewman676 Everyone and no-one. You listen to the feedback from people who have already gotten one and evaluate it against your own requirements. For example, I primarily do still photography, so all the details about video were not very important to me. I did eventually purchase another drone and got an Autel Evo. The information I found suggested the camera was what I wanted. I've been happy with it.

P.S.: I've bought it from the Powervision dealership at 390$ with a spare battery :D. (not dealershit, but their homepage)
Lol. Happy New year my friend. Love the reviews! Keep up the good work! I look forward to all the new drone videos this year! Stay warm up in the great white North!
Great review, thank you very much!. All the drones mentioned are outstanding. My preferred ones price/flying quality wise are the EX3/X11/B4W which are very robust and excellent flyers - they need an external camera to get better video quality though (see my channel), and the X12/EX4 with their 3-axis gimbal which has one of the most extensive lists of spares. Also, I'm interested in the Hubsan Zeno 2, but unfortunately, Gearbest is offering it to Canadians right now C$250+ more expensive than to our southern neighbors... I would very much appreciate it if you can let them know that this is very unfair and bad business practice..., so I order it on Alibaba to get a more decent price!
Once again, great video! Ordered a Eachine EX4 5G on 06/17 from Banggood. Scheduled to arrive 7/25. Got the 2 battery setup. Also ordered a third battery and extra battery charger.
Happy Sunday! Got my Eachine EX4 yesterday. Going to maiden voyage her today. So I notice in some of your videos you say the app you use may have different functions depending on if you use an iPhone or an Android phone. I have an iPhone XR. Thinking of getting an Android phone also. Will the flying experience with the EX4 differ between the two different phones? In your opinion does it matter which phone you use? Do you have a preference between Android or iOS? Keep YouTubin’ and TIA!
My first drone was the first Mavic Pro after a few inexpensive quadcopters. Looking to buy a Mavic Mini for its much smaller size and easier to take with me when I travel! :-)
Exactly what I did...got fed up with the complexity of the pro and the size of everything all in...so far the mini is pretty sweet...not as high quality as the pro and not as many options but much more simple in all ways, super portable, much more convenient batteries, great flight time, they don't self discharge and so on...if you're aware of the limitations you'll be happy with the swap
Awesome! So glad you did this video. If you aren't being compensated by drone manufacturers -- you should be.I have bought 2 drones ,both seen on your videos and will buy another or 2 this year.Appreciate all info presented in your videos. THANKS
The Traxxas Aton seems to get no respect from you drone vloggers but its super fun and fast as hell. Some of us just like to fly... without the cinematography and selfies.
Hello People, I have been watching the videos and reading reviews, I am in two minds between two; The basic xiaomi fimi x8 se no extras for 461 euros or the JJRC x12 with two batteries and a bag. for 265 euros. I am coming into this hobby with an amateur photographic background. Living in Windy Ireland as well. seen a few reviews on the x12 in the wind. preformed well enough. The x8 if I am not mistaken has Better video resolution and a longer range and slightly better fly time. Is that enough for the extra 200 yoyos or am I missing anything. Appreciate any pointers!
I'm a lucky guy....someone just gave me a Mavic Mini AND a Mavic Pro. As a noobie, I'm practising on the Mini. What a fantastic little drone. Thanks for the great video!
Hi Captain. Thx for the usefull videos! I'm searching for a beginners "travel-drone". Should i buy the Hubsan Zino Pro, DJI Mavic mini or is it worth to spend more on the DJI Mavic Air? I won't be a heavy user but my grandma always told me: "If you buy cheap, you'll buy twice" :-)
Do you know any drones with all the same features and software options as dji mavic mini but cheaper? Dji feels like an apple product overpriced n all but im an android user. Love me some cheaper better quality and specs phones which i intend to carry over to my first drone here
GOT TELLO YAY!! saving for something like the evo or evo 2 not a fan of geo fencing! I think when it comes to dji you pay for the drone AND the brand if u know what I mean
Don't fly the FIMI x8 in sport mode, you have a higher risk of the props coming apart, it happened to me at 270 feet. I replaced all 4 arms after the mishap. The stock props flying apart is a known problem, buyers beware.
Are there better props for the FIMI? I've had mine for a few months but weather hasn't been too cooperative. Only had it in sport mode once to try it out. Thing definitely has some speed. And thanks Cap...got the FIMI based on your review!
Picked up the JJRC X11 on ur recommend. Was $140 with 2 batteries from JJRC store on Amazon. Will update when I get it and give it a go. Great channel!

What i do not really like about the Powervision that it's hard to connect to my phone, but other than that, it's a great drone after it connects.
P.S.: I've bought it from the Powervision dealership at 390$ with a spare battery :D. (not dealershit, but their homepage)

Really great review , thanks
Thanks, Steve, once again you've nailed it with an outstanding review for affordably priced drones, nicely done!
Thanks Steve!
YEAR 2020: the year Captain Drone nearly blew out my speakers and scared the crap out of my dog with the intro.
Ha Ha... Ya that is an old intro that I reused. I'll check the volume next time.
Lol. Happy New year my friend. Love the reviews! Keep up the good work! I look forward to all the new drone videos this year! Stay warm up in the great white North!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 It woke up my grand-daughter.
Thanks this is the video that I’m looking for!!!
X9P Heron or bugs-4w 4k for hiking and backpacking? Also is there an active forum that discusses drones?
THANKS
Great video man. Thank you again for the reviews. Im loving the new drone I got based off your reviews.
The Traxxas Aton seems to get no respect from you drone vloggers but its super fun and fast as hell. Some of us just like to fly... without the cinematography and selfies.
Can't buy that one in my neck of the woods (stores say it is too old and discontinued outside the US).
Hello People, I have been watching the videos and reading reviews, I am in two minds between two;
The basic xiaomi fimi x8 se no extras for 461 euros
or the JJRC x12 with two batteries and a bag. for 265 euros.
Thanks for the great video!
thank you for these low priced quads and fully informative video 👍🇺🇸😎❗
I think for travelling you'd be very pleased with the MAVIC MINI for so many reasons.... that you will discover, while travelling.
Do you know any drones with all the same features and software options as dji mavic mini but cheaper? Dji feels like an apple product overpriced n all but im an android user. Love me some cheaper better quality and specs phones which i intend to carry over to my first drone here
There is nothing on the market like the Mavic Mini
I search too
DJI drones are more expensive because they are miles better than any other drone makers out there, not because they are "apple" of drones
watch through the channel he has alot of drones that would give you what you want at a better price.
look through the videos with drones that have 4k camera. mavic mini cannot shoot in 4k.
Looks like you have some really nice drones there! NICE!
God bro ! More people should sub. Amazingly detailed and superb. No nonsense video. Keep up Cap :)
Much appreciated!
GOT TELLO YAY!! saving for something like the evo or evo 2 not a fan of geo fencing! I think when it comes to dji you pay for the drone AND the brand if u know what I mean
SlipperyGamer the eco looks amazing!!
Great summary. Thank you.
